The Ruger 22 pistols weren't modeled after the Luger. They were actually modeled after the Japanese Nambu. Just a little trivia to add into the mix since people often incorrectly attribute the design for the Ruger Mk I/II/III to the Luger.

The action yes, but the steep grip angle was directly influenced by the Luger. Bill Ruger stated he felt it was an extremely intuitive grip shape, he liked how naturally pointable it was.

They should do a part two and actually show all the things they were asking about, that you can absolutely do in this game LOL like leaning, torching people with the laser, shooting people with laser, you know like lick lick just just maybe like all the things that they were asking about not even all the things that they could have shown LOL just the ones that they were kind of making a point about and kind of gave the impression he couldn't do it because instead we had turd sections and then a bunch of knife kills, cuz if you didn't see the first one you had to see it see it a few times right? Instead of the other things.. one point they were quite emphatic about showing, kind of gave the impression that you couldn't at the end of that one.

Other then the pulse rifle, all the weapons in the original are not actually weapons but futuristic mining and engineering equipment, for example the flame thrower is actually a modified torch, and the plasma cutter is used for cutting stuff, even used in surgery (that’s where you get in the second game) the second game also adds the seeker rifle which is another true gun though, and you can build custom fire arms in the 3rd too

The OICW gave us the XM25 odd, but I thought that was 25mm, not 20mm.

I might be reading way too much into it like you know you got to do a thing and it's a camera it's not a person but, at same time I usually don't see people doing it LOL unless they're jackasses is like maybe it's just like ingrained or something but.. either way got to love this guy, super glad they brought him on! Also glad he does the Hollywood stuff, I never ever met an armorer I didn't like... Although I haven't been in the industry in a while, seems like I turned around and all of the things that were sacred might have gone out the door.. not just regarding firearms but just in general regarding safety.. people like this guy used to be the standard I'm not sure what's going on now LOL but I'm glad that there is still something like that out there :-)

Soviets got screwed over when they failed to fight Germany and Japanese forces mopped up the rest of Asia and continued to attack further East into Russian territory
The Axis won but Germany decided to betray their own allies just like the time Germany attacked Soviet when they were allies
Italy was crushed and then Japan next
Japan gets to keep their independence but suffer under Germany's rule
Then the next thing is that Blazko killed Hitler and decimated his army and the former Axis countries have joined the Resistance side

You're absolutely can pie corners in this game, they have a pretty good leaning system.. it's still got a little bit of consillitis, but it's an 8 way fluid peak system, the same one they developed for riddick.. so you can go up over around under it's really cool actually I really dig it.. the only downside is can't move with it but I mean I'm just happy to be able to lean corners in a game at all.. I have it bound to c and v so it's like not screwing up my muscle memory for regular left and right lean, it is just super instinctive you just have it with your thumb while you're going pop around, don't have to be locked on a like contextual animation cover garbage system.. you can do it anywhere you want and there's some really cool combo so you can come up with all in all..
I was super familiar with the riddick games, so like it just kind of fell into place for me.. and every game that's the people that are now working at machine games that they've done in the shooter land has kind of been iteration upon the last one they've done they Don't really throw away good systems if they're good. And they really did embrace that proper Wolfenstein philosophy of like almost immersive Sim.. like you can kind of play however you want.. and they're not going to take agency away from you just because they want to emphasize one thing or another.. and it's one of the reasons it's one of just hands down one of my favorite shooters and it's really hard to play other ones that seem like they should have these things, stuff that I was used to cuz of the mid-2000s and late 90s that were standardized that stopped being standards when the dual analog controller took over development.. it feels weird to be controlling a first person body but not have actual control over the first person body in in basic ways that you would functionally think about especially if you've done it before with the control system, and this time you can't or worse all the enemies are doing it or the guys doing it in a cut scene or it's contextual.. just let me let me move my guy you know the way I want to move them you can add thing to that that are fantastical.. but don't take them away...
and as far as like cover systems go and whatnot for one don't make a cover system make a basic body control system like the original system shock LOL.. and if you're worried people will tease the cover, make better AI LOL. one of my favorite things I did was spent a couple of months working on a mod project for Half-Life 2, adding things like sliding leaning melee all the things and good God does that game play wonderfully, it plays like this game basically, or fear, and just just that that basic control and agency the things you can do and build upon it, it adds so much more depth to gameplay that would be so generic otherwise.

Back in 1907 when the trials for what would become the United States Army's new handgun were underway it wasn't evident what might replace the old Colt M1892 Army & Navy service revolver (that also desperately needed to be replaced because... revolver, and .38 Special at that). There were a bunch of participants. Savage with a prototype autoloading handgun. Smith and Wesson and Colt with both their newer DA revolvers. Webley-Fosbery revolver. And even the Bergmann 1906... for... whatever reason. And some more minor entries. But the two biggest contestants were two autoloading handguns. One from Colt, in the new .45 ACP. And one from Deutsche Waffen/Luger... also... in .45 ACP. Some of you might be reading that and going, "Huh?" since Lugers are in 9mm Luger, aka 9mm, aka 9x19 NATO, aka 9mm Parabellum, etc. - well, yes, they are. Except these ones. Luger, wanting to secure a huge contract like this, actually made .45 ACP chambered prototype P08 Lugers for this competition. And these are also some of the most highly expensive firearms in the firearms community. That's because Luger only made *_TWO_* prototypes (there were supposed to be 200 firearms made available for testing, Luger is the only one that did not meet this requirement). And in fact, one of those .45 Lugers sold for $1,000,000 at an auction in 1989. Still, it was tested. And one of the reasons, basically, it lost out to the Colt M1907 (yes, you read that correctly) was its mechanical complexity. Which meant it was more expensive, more prone to failure and more of a logistics issue. There were also some issues with the .45 Luger's reliability during testing, probably more due to them being a hastily made prototype than them being Lugers, necessarily, but even still, more parts. Parts that are exposed. And parts that had to run after being degreased and didn't that well.
The aforementioned Colt M1907 later went onto become the M1911 and the iconic "Colt .45" (the firearm, not the beverage of choice for Billy Dee Williams) that is actually still being issued to some units in the United States military to this day (namely 1st SFOD-D, USMC MARSOC, etc.).

  • @Beuwen_The_Dragon

The Luger was actually a very reliable pistol when they were first issued. But by the time you get to the late 1940s, many of the old wwI vintage pistols were already showing their age, and being on the losing end of the War many of the (then) current issue pistols were not top priority for servicing and repair.
After the war, Brits and Americans bringing back Lugers also didn’t really have means of repairing worn parts, and Domestic ammunition for 9mm was not the same as German production ammunition, which took quite a while to get right. So as a result, Lugers started to gain a negative reputation for poor reliability through the 50s, 60s and 70s which really wasn’t earned.

There just isn't anything 'super safe' about guns in general, let alone them being used in your neighbors yard by some guy who might be absolutely drunk.
I'm not saying you're not allowed to own one, but the only place you should be allowed to use that gun is an official and supervised shooting range imo.

yeah the the difference between a suppressed gunshot and a regular gunshot still will hurt your ears in most cases especially if the round is supersonic.. I feel like until you actually shoot a gun or had our near a gun that's being shot you you just don't understand how freaking loud they are, and I really wish they would start bringing that that feeling back in games like they used to they used to kind of push to that in like the rainbow six games, squad even had a whole thing that was just brilliant and then they like overnight they they ruined it they completely changed the whole system and now it's just I don't even play the game anymore it's just it's too depressing knowing what it used to be and hearing what it sounds like now.. and I'm not I'm pretty sure that is the greater tragedy but the other great tragedy is that rarely do you ever see real suppressor sounds or real volume tables comparatively with suppressors, cuz they sound great they sound awesome they really do, sometimes they get whiny but never laser whiny..
I would like to know who in the seventies pulled the laser sound out of their stock effects library, and was just like let's just do it all right we got we got a week to finish this let's go.. cuz there was a time there was a time in the 50s and 60s when suppressors actually sort of sounded like suppressors.. I remember the first things Bond almost had something close to that.. although I feel like I might have remembered it wrong going back on it, but it definitely wasn't the laser sound feel like that came around the mid 70s maybe the '80s and then it just became the standard... I just if you're going to do a shooting game, and don't get me wrong there's lots of sounds to do in a game and be into and you can make great soundscapes and whatnot but if shooting is the thing.. a lot of what makes a gun feel good in a game is if it sounds like a gun.. another part of that is making sure the animation is in sync, which is why procedural animation will and always will be king when it comes to that particular affair.. fight me, and for those that like to use fully automatic loops.. quit your job and do something else..
my point to all this even though everybody watching this already knows it including the people in here but I'm just talking anyways, suppressor sounds like a firecracker for sure in a lot of cases.. but it doesn't sound like a gunshot which is a lot louder especially a shorter barrel pistols etc.. like the less gas that can be burned up along the way and propelling the bullet out the chamber, the more gas is going to be causing your sound essentially.. so you're not going to be doing any Ninja stealth kills like it seems the government might have thought back in the thirties and and will die on the hill of.. I don't know where that came from exactly but I do know that once something gets into somebody's head it stays there especially in politics LOL.. like the amount of things you got to do to make a gunshot like actually silent silent, it's it's a whole thing LOL.. and unless that's your purpose that's kind of a, it's kind of a one-way trip down your firearms Lane.. you also have to have an incredible amount of tools and equipment to do that so you'd probably have to purchase one that's to sign that way and.. I mean good God, how much did a civilian MP5sd cost before the sp5 started becoming a thing, which is also very expensive..?
supposed to be irony being that you could probably get a welrod it's a lot less scrutiny and then you know you could be a silent assassin that, yeah you can probably cover the noise floor with something but.. you could probably also build a firearm like that with very limited tools.. and this is where we get into the stop trying to rationalize the incredulity of the laws that we do have in place for firearms or regulations etc... I mean honestly with a lot of laws that's the case in in many cases.. you don't usually get legislation passed if it actually makes logical sense.. certainly not by the time he gets through... I feel like lawyers should be banned from taking creative writing classes in order to pass the bar.. you just get immediately disqualified, I don't know if that would help but LOL well maybe in patent law.

Funny the first first person game that these guys did actually was entirely getting out of the prison.. Chronicles of riddick escape from butcher Bay.. one of the best immersive Sim light games of all time.. in a weird stupid copyright gray area right now, which I think it's on the internet archives or something you can basically download it for free now because of that highly worth playing, the second one reworked the visuals for the first one and packaged them all in the same game, except you had the more advanced mechanics capable to you that they hadn't quite worked out when they first did it back in '04.. so you can just kind of play through it as one single game and it's really good all the way through including the second one which is different but in my opinion just as good in a different way.. but yeah the first one entirely a prison escape game LOL

I really hope they got to see more of this than the clips that we saw, like not sure who source these and thought thatthe exciting parts to show or maybe they were trying to avoid spoilers by just showing turret sections but a turret cannon that you do at the beginning of the game as a set piece isn't really a showcase is it.. also if you have the laser gun out and everybody is saying shoot the guy with the laser gun.. don't stab them in the back with a knife that you've already done, shoot them in the head with the laser gun, or get up close and use it like a concentrated sun tan beam as is I think what happens with the secondary laser I can't remember if the first one does anything but I know the second one causes skin cancer or something like that.. like I'm not sure what the editor or the clips or what was going on here... But it looks like you guys are in conflict somehow, there are many clips of this game on the internet lol, and it's super rare that you could literally you can actually do all of the things that they were asking to do if you could do that's not many games that you can do all that LOL they were not expecting the answer to be yes and they never seems like they got an answer or something like that I don't know.. which I'm assuming they're going to figure it out at some point they're big boys but.. like I'm assuming there's a part two or something I'm not sure it's it's weird this is kind of weird.
like normally there's like some weapon breakdown but single event set piece turret breakdown? Like you only get on that plane and shoot the robot bats or whatever they are at the beginning it's like a you know almost a subversion of expectations of the actual game itself coming in from the 6th and 7th console generation.. and that got like 5 minutes or 3 minutes or something like a good chunk of this LOL.. and then there was that cannon that you get on to open up a pathway.. that you're never going to see again cuz you're going to time warp in a Golden throne like the god emperor for 15 years..
Again I'm confused why were they asking for footage that could be obtained of things that could be done that and then and then emphatically asking and and then, I mean yeah that section you're going to do it with a knife, this is too it's too rich to not you know drop everybody in the hanger, cuz you're going to get more of them coming out anyway so you can shoot them later but.. it's like a 15 hour game or something like that and I laser being many people I had many opportunities to use the laser in creative ways LOL I'm sure there's a clip somewhere that could have been found.. guy asking about being able to lean and Gilmore tactical if you wanted to you absolutely can LOL, kind of gives the impression that you can't as a reaction video like. Game don't look boring and it isn't but LOL, bad impression I don't know I'm just like I'm just ranting for ranting sake cuz of how much of this video was dedicated to single set piece turret sections that you're never going to see again LOL and are the briefest moments in time in this gameplay.. I'm just confused why would why would feature showcase be the genuinely like the least interesting and thing that you've seen a million times in other games before part of this game.. what happened?
Even curious or more curious why why would the editor put so much of the dialogue about asking to show the things, and then not having them being shown..? these are questions I think that you probably all are aware of at this point having edited watched and submitted this video LOL.. I don't know I'm coming off as a complete whiner over here but. Like if it wasn't for the turret sections LOL going to put this out of my head and spend like no hey you know what you can only show so much.. probably should have shown some of the things they were asking about, as in some cases like the laser gun for instance once you especially once you get a few upgrades down the line is one of the best parts of the game.. or shown the DMR conversion into the laser gun LOL the other laser gun, which had the site post that he was asking about and actually use them.. again this that's like what? And and then the priority I guess was shooting down Nazi bat airplanes in the opening set piece sequence that takes up about the smallest amount of time doing anything in that entire sequence LOL which is actually pretty cool LOL except for that part LOL which is okay.. it's not bad it's just you know it is what it is it's just not you know it's not really a feature of the game exactly it just happens to be a thing that happens very briefly LOL think what's going on here I'm confused?
was it like send me your best clips person on the internet.. and they're like yeah no this was badass, you see you see I shot all those planes down well well sitting in a stationary position with a fully automatic quad machine gun thingy.. just like it's just like 3D space Invaders Bros the best part of the game.. you see how I got that guy with the knife and then I got the other guy with the knife and then I got the other guy with the knife because I'm a boss with this forgiving stealth system LOL,.. that's the only thing I can think of and then you're just like well shit this is what we got right now and we got to we got to go live we got to go now,! Export export! in the editor was like I don't have the clips and then the whatever the other guy in this completely artificially created scenario for my own head was like jumped over the keyboard and was like export... And then premiere pro crashes.. and the editor cried himself to sleep...
