    Thank you for the video! Mine has sat for about 10 years because I wanted to keep miles off it and I went to start it not expecting the smoke to literally come pouring in the cabin through the vents 😂😂 glad I don’t have to pull the engine apart to get to these!

    Thanks for this upload. For some time I was having oil seaping out from both rear end caps and burning up on the manifolds. I replaced both caps just how you show. It's been two weeks and no more leaks. Fix was straightforward. Just a tight area to work in. Thanks.

      +Ozzstar so here is my update. 😭 about a month has passed since the fix and all seemed to be well. in fact these two caps are holding strong. problem is, the oil now found another exit route in the front passenger side. to my knowledge, this won't be an easy fix. 😢

      Inspect the half moon shaped rubber seal that is in the end of the cylinder head, they are a bitch to replace.

    • @atroche1978
      @atroche1978 9 років тому

      +Ozzstar yeah I checked them both but they are not leaking. it's leaking from the front passenger side.

      +Bert T. It's your cam seals or valve cover gasket. Goodluck. Cause the cam seals are a lot of work.

    Hello Bud, you really helped me out. I did my valve covers twice not knowing we're the leak is then found out its the caps. Now holding my head because I have to do them again. However hopefully this trick works and sloves the issue. Thanks keep making good content. And love the 2 way tape trick ingenius

      Same here.. or well, I'm about to do the valve cover seals and was looking at other stuff when this video popped up. Wouldn't have thought of this until after either if it wasn't for this video and your comment.

    Great video but how do I know if it is just the camshaft cap only that is leaking and not half moon seal and such ??,,, please help,,,, thank you GOD BLESS all....

  • @rubio7922
    @rubio7922 9 років тому

    wow.. and here I am taking off the valve covers and stuff... when it's just the caps that need to be replaced.. I have a 2.7t engine and that same area where you worked on is where the smoke burning smell is coming from.. I'm going to just change out the caps and see what happens.. forget doing all the gaskets haha..

    • @ozzstars_cars
      @ozzstars_cars  9 років тому

      There may also be a half moon shaped seal back there, that can leak also. Thanks for watching Jesse

      How did it work out with you changing the caps this way ? did it leak or did it work ? thank you,,,,

    • @rubio7922
      @rubio7922 8 років тому

      It worked for a while but you might as well do the half moon and all. These engines will leak eventually. I didnt do the cam o seals on the cam shafts or rods whatever they are called and oil was leaking again. At least i can take the front end off in 15min with all the practice i have lol.

    LIKE YOUR STUFF -- YOUR A NATURAL.-- HELP ME OUT. NEED SOME HELP.... cleaning the exterior firewall I came on a part just behind the ECU unit - it appears a mouse had eaten through some wires that had been attached to a sensor or relay to something. it is blocked by ECU and panel under the wiper arms. need to remove @t get to it. BUT can't figure what it is. what it runs . - two problems I have is --- washer sprayer doesn't work and passenger side mirror won't fold in. WHAT THE HELL IS THIS THING. ANY HELP -- this is a 2002 v-6 glx passat - auto trans - 4 motion.

      You need to access a wiring diagram. Figure out wire colors, repair and check that fuses aren't blown.

    Any idea on a p0735 on a 04 vw passat GLX 4motion 2.8 v6 it starts to jump after going over 35mph but the code is showing a 5th gear incorrect ratio code.
    Not sure what is going on. Also
    I have a p0296 code as well not sure what is causing that

      I would suggest you scan the car with VAGcom software to get data. See what the TCM is doing. This way you can get some direction to the problems.

      With my fingers, slides right in with pressure. The wet sealant helps it go in easier.

    My audi 2.8 smokes from the rear of the engine kinda similar to this place. On both sides. Smells like oil. 235k+/- (no speedo) miles. Could this be the culprit???

    • @ozzstars_cars
      @ozzstars_cars  6 років тому

      Use an inspection mirror like this one in the link, amzn.to/2tCyPjH You should be able to see where the oil is leaking.
