    There's no need to remove the erg valve, or loosen the heat shield to replace the drivers side cam cap seal. I just replaced mine yesterday, and after struggling in the attempt to remove the erg, I said heck with that and just removed and replaced the cap with it in. It's tight, but easy enough to replace.
    The passenger side erg was removed, but that side is a piece of cake.
    Tip: For easy of replacement, put the new caps in the freezer. Pressing them in is a breeze when they are cold.

      It's not the egr, it's the secondary air valve, and yes it is necessary to remove it. the plug is partially covered on by this secondary air valve on the driver's side.

      Thanks to you I didn't need to take either erg valves off. Just a lol prying with my fingers loosen them both and then tapped out with long flat head screwdriver and hammer did the trick💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾😊👍🏿

      can i ask how bad was your oil leak? I have 01 s4 and i thought my oil pan was leaking but with further inspection i found the leak coming from the rear of the engine on the driver side also leaks on top of the exhaust

    superb clip .... that burning oil smell, now magically gone, on my 2000 Audi 2.7T. Replaced both of them, on back side of engine.

    Hi Nicole. yes cam seals might be the culprit. drive the car for a few minutes and then check for leaks behind the head,you might have to remove the coolant tank to see better.

    I see the burning smoke coming from my passenger side rear of engine by the valve.... I'm guessing its the cam seal on that side leaking on to the exhaust and burning.. Sucks that I didn't see your video before because I already took off the valve cover haha.. I don't have the camshaft chain tensioner tool to do the half moon and tensioner seals so I'm just going to the cam plugs and see what happens.

    I just replaced my valve covers but it still gives me smoke underneath the egrs.. So you think it could be my cam chain tensiorners? Or could it be my cap seals?

      Nicole Cluff did you ever find the issue? Could be rocker cover gaskets.

    • @evolution8334
      @evolution8334 6 років тому

      It either chain tensioner or half moon seal

    nice diy. egr is not necessary though just followed this vid to do mine and couldn't get in there to remove egr bolts :/ just pried them out from the side. also didn't remove coolant hoses just the three screws and pushed it aside.

  • @stevebloom1810

    cam plugs and valve cover / cam chain tensioner seals all tend to leak. Cam plugs are easier to change and cheaper, so I'd suggest doing those first. If you still have issues with oil leaks, then do the valve cover gaskets and camchain tensioner seals.

    When you removed the egr valve, did yours have gaskets? I removed my passenger side, however, had an exhaust leak, but never noticed a gasket. Thanks.

    • @mannysolution
      @mannysolution  4 роки тому

      Yes it has a gasket between the cylinder head and the EGR valve. It usually stays stock to the cylinder head when you remove it.

    • @mannysolution
      @mannysolution  4 роки тому

      Yes you can replace both sides without removing the engine. On the driver side you have to remove a few more things than the passenger side but it’s not too difficult.
