I see that in maybe 1 out of 20 campaigns. It's not something I see anymore so they must have done something.

It's fixed. This is likely an old save that was started on an older version.

I have. In my recently finished Vampire Coast campaign, Morathi after turn 100 just stopped being aggressive and instead started gathering Black Arks near her capital, to jus sit there. Ended up with about the same number as in this video.
They are assembling the nine pieces of eight.

Kudos to this person for hanging in there, but turn 241 while this drastically behind feels like masochism to me. I mean, why do this to yourself? Do they know that you can restart campaigns?

either this was spamming on the end turn button or it was to create a scenario. I had a Cathay campaign where the dwaves were killed off superfast, like all of them and I resurrected them and gave them like 30 provinces each. And because they went full zombie potato, I had to reboot their AI by declaring a war on them. It didnt work at first because I was on hard campaign and they only reboot on very hard. And so I had Cathay in a similar shape when I gifted away half of the map.
I recently played a 300+ turns campaing with Manfred in warhammer 1, it was fun all the way to the end.
I'm going to download this from a torrent site and watch it, just so I can fit in with the theme.

Personally i've only ever seen Banners make autoresolve worse IF and ONLY IF its the banner of eternal flame. I've only ever seen that specific banner make autoresolve worse. On the other hand, i have actually had some banners make autoresolves better. I could have a valiant defeat in auto and then i put some banners on and it turns to a pyrric victory.
I imagine its mostly to do with whether a banner has a downside or not, like with the banner of eternal flame. I cant be sure whether if that downside even affecting anything in any given battle is calculated, however.
The one other banner I've seen make it worse is the Razor banner. Auto resolve treats banners really weird too because if you are going to lose units using resolve you can swap the banner between units and it will sometimes change the amount of units lost and/or which units get destroyed depending on the unit that has the banner.
Cathay has some weaponry that massively bypasses the flame resistance. Vermillion Blade, Catalytic Kiln with Banner of Eternal Flame are gold. Its like every attack is critical because of the stacked flame damage and lowered fire resistence on the enemy.

Yea idk what this player was doing. Most of cathay has fallen, Maio Ying is dead, not confederated...the great bastion is breached...and its turn 241. I would have given up on this campaign 200 turns ago if it was heading in this direction lol.

This person should have just merged some items. could get a celestial general with 71% ward save and high stats and a catalytic kiln for Mortis engine effect and just go through one at a time. Cathayan items and their breadth are among the best.

Turn 241 and cathay is in rough shape, thats crazy. Last time i played Zhao Ming i had him just running around with a couple heroes, he was a 1 man doomstack for me. Was one of the most fun campaigns ive played.
I would find it really interesting how you approach such distaster situations. Is the approach blind or how is your process you go through to find out which options you have.
Edit: Why I am asking - it always seems you immediately know what to do and what works. Do you try different things in the background which might also fail? Would really appreciate how your take on this is.
Is it intended for units to vanish and reappear a minute later if they walk into a corner of those vents? I once won a battle kiting around the vents/disappearing as a Dark Elf Lord while the enemies blobbed up taking volleys from off screen Black Arks

I wonder if wall of fire is fast enough to keep up with running infantry? Like, cast it so that it's travelling in the same direction they are so that they're in the aoe longer.
It moves at speed 40, slightly faster than most infantry.

You should drop the wall of fire ability behind an infrantry unit that is chasing you instead of in front. It does extremely good damage when it essentially matches or slightly overcomes the speed of a unit so that it is ON IT and DAMAGING it for the longest time possible. It’s garbage in terms of burst damage but on a stationary blob it’s alright and when “chasing down” a unit it can wipe it entirely.

Indeed. Some players like to struggle, others restart as soon as they don't steamroll. Same reason CA keeps the AI braindead. If all battles played like multi-player (without campaign cheats for AI, of course), most players would quit.
if i recall the iron dragon faction , there's no way of eliminating the dark elves of the sea... this is one of the main reasons why i hate Cathy ... they each have a enemy faction that can't be destroyed
The pirates of the sea? As in Lokhir? Pretty sure you can eliminate him, although it might mean sailing off to hunt black arks.
As for the Bastion always being under attack, to me that makes sense. Lorewise, it isn't just a few settlements to the North, but vast expanses of chaos infested territory with all kinds of Chaos. In fact, I think it should spawn an army of Norsca, WoC, Monogod, Undivided or beast men every turn. They shouldn't be allied so wouldn't coordinate, but all of them should attack. Make holding the gates an absolute necessity and unifying Cathay a struggle with so many resources devoted that way.
@@arthanor9631 maybe I'm mistaken but. the one campaign i played as iron dragon. a steady flow or dark elves coming from the sea . its exclusive for that faction only
@SomeIdiotLUL interesting! I only played Miao on release, and I'm playing Yuan Bo now, with a Bastion mechanic mod because I feel like it needs to be active regardless. But I've never seen pirates. I'll have to try Zhao as well eventually. I thought his thing was mostly west, not east.
