This pencil guy reminds me of a photographer I employed for my company 2 years ago. Who used to ask for half the money to any gig he was sent. His point was that he was doing all the work and I was hogging all the money by paying him by the hours. What the stupid didn’t undesrtand is that by that time I had dropped out of university to work as full time photographer and I had spent 5 years of my life working as light assistants, office clerk at some other photogrphy company, had to work as an assistant photographer like him for 3 years, leave the security of that job, build a portfolio, get clients and respectable reviews, earn and put nearly 200 grand in to making my own company to reach a certain level. It was my name bringing in the jobs that he was being sent at, it was my gears he was using, I took all the risks, if he had fucked something up, the client would sue me, not him. All he was doing is being an entitled bitch and we are of the same age, being 28 now. I fired him after 6 months and now I am married, live in a self bought million dollar home and looking forward to investing in other business ventures while he is living close to being homeless. I dont harbor any ill will for anyone but If you nag about getting the good things in life for free, nothing will happen. You have to make sacrifices and work your ass off. When I quit university, I was 2 years away from becoming an Electrical Engineer. I gave that up for something I love doing, people were saying all sorts of things to my parents. I dealt with that, even the photography companies I worked for, they mistreated me so badly and here I was trying to make sure that doesnt happen to my employees, this chum walks in. I pay each of my staff more than any other same level businesses around town, I talk to them about their families and try to help. Basically trying to give them the help that I never had and this bitch dared to question my ethics. The world is a tough place son, either you put in work or you get worked on by ungodly things. Its that simple.

This clueless guy, is the exact reason why almost every CEO, or owner, or investor, or operator, is looking to automate away the most low-skilled repetitive jobs in every industry. The robot or self-serve kiosk is not going to complain about why it's not fair that he doesn't get a share of the profits!
The problem with this logic is that not all billionaires, millionaires, people who are rich and successful earned it earnestly. But for the sake of your argument that has to be true OR you dont care about that and its "well they have it so they can do what they wish". And if that's the case then why is that not the same for the workers or poor. When the gap between rich and poor is so divided and the concept of equal opportunity is a farcry from what it used to be. I'm worried about a lot of peoples thinking in this regard. Justifying why the rich get richer and how they stay at the top for decades and decades in a family lineage of wealth while people dont get the same ability is incorrect, especially since society claims that all people should have equal opportunity again, you think the guy at Walmart who works 7 days a week while going to college will reach the same level of success as a man who was born into the family who started Walmart, raised to be successful and then started his own business with capital given to him by family members moreso than anything the Walmart employee could ever have? The argument you can only use to ignore all of this is "well life isnt fair". And that is a ironic bigotry to the concept of society and why humans form civilization.

The robot or self-serve kiosk is not going to complain about why it's not fair that he doesn't get a share of the profits!
Yeah
Indeed!!

Love how Ben kicks ass so nicely
The kid never realized that in his 'worker cooperative' system that someone has to entail the risk of investment. He just wants to 'own' the profits without taking the risk. Didn't think it through.
In the worker cooperatives that exist (there are hundreds), workers are compensated at least in part with shares in the company. So they do buy into the risk as well, and are more motivated to do their best work.
@@SquirrellyFries -- yeah and that's an employer option, and a good one. But any job that you need or want to keep comes with the same incentive. Some jobs take a higher skill set and there's nothing wrong with rewarding good work, however you choose to do it. If every company did it that would take away the incentive or motivation to perform at a high level, because you could find another one easily enough with the same benefit.
The risk is unemployment and losing your home because you are short on rent. Thats a valid risk right? In the recent govt shutdown federal workers suffered a loss because of that. What I think can be done is profit sharing scheme that rewards workers in the case of profit.
@@gohivan5119 -- Are you also in a 'risk sharing scheme' as well? Because that's who deserves the profit, those who enter into the risk. And the shutdown was a short term loss, as those who were working during the fiasco were paid backpay after it was settled. An over saturated market, or something that is in need?
@D1s1llus10n that's being overqualified for the job. I doubt a company that makes pencils/products will hire a fresh grad from med school to assemble pencils. That fresh grad from med school will most likely go to the marketing dept, r&d dept, or something along those lines/level of position.
