13:47 Fun fact, that thing the people may drop down to you is actually a SEGA Mega Drive here! But in the Mega Drive version of this game, they actually drop Super Nintendos at you.
In Bart's Nightmare by Acclaim, everything about this game is top notch, except maybe the play control, which could use a little adjustment. The game is virtually impossible to beat, making it overwelmingly frustrating for younger players.
It wasn't impossible to beat. But yes getting an A+ grade was extremely tough. If you failed on one of the mini games late in the game; it took forever for another page to show up sometimes

The implication this game establishes by the skeleton Bart glitch is that Bart's skull is indeed spiked and that is not hair but rather bone. This is a startling revelation to be sure.
I once rented this game at a Blockbuster over 2 decades ago... I don't remember seeing ANY of these dream mini games. I was too dumb as a kid to understand what to do. It still seems cryptic as I watch this TAS. This game also has a subtley eerie sense to it, kinda like porky pigs haunted holiday. Its hard to explain but maybe its just me.
This game was actually pretty fun to play. Only thing broken on it; in my opinion, was how long it took pages 6-8 to show up so you could finish the game. I remember once it took almost 30 minutes before one showed up 🙄
It goes by your score-even if you collected all the pages, you must score at least 125,000 points to get an A+. The only feasible way to do this is by intentional point-farming (for example, repeatedly destroying the endless fireballs in the second Itchy & Scratchy stage.)
@@DrLove0378I did that first clear A+ but IIRC I thought the fireballs were strictly necessary, or I was farming drops with no concern for points, so always cleared with like 200k points and thought a clear was auto A+.
I think it would have made more sense if the town in the start is just calm and nothing is happening, and the first page is just sitting there on the street waiting for you to get it, the town should only turn windy and make the pages hard to get after you beat the first minigame. Maybe that was the idea, I don't know.

Both sound really bad, so there's not much competition. The Mega Drive version uses GEMS, which automatically puts it down, and SNES version has REALLY tinny and short instrument samples.
It took me years to realize you can catch the z's to extend your health. Really hard to do as well. I beat it once but it took so long. This game is brutal but the Bartman stages were my favorite.

Sweet Revenge for all those "Game Over" screens as a child. Thank You TAS.
Lol.seriously!
Still entertaining to see this mess of a game get absolutely DESTROYED.
You must see the superman64 run lol
The only hard thing in this game was teh Indiana Bart levels.

Reminds me of the Donkey Kong cartoon where DK's cowlick is revealed to be the actual shape of his head.

I always found this game to be unsettling. There was just a lot of dead sound. Hard to say exactly why, but I got just a general unease.
Man the music sounds so dull compared to the Sega version. The sound effects are way better though
The music is messed up here. I've played this on Snes many times and the music is better than this.

The TAS is from 2007, emulators at the time didn't emulate audio very well.

Yeah, this was one weekend rental I regretted.
Interesting concept, poorly executed. Also you probably didn’t have the manual.

I glad I saw this on TAS, I would have hated to try to play this terrible game.

I played it as a kid. You're definitely better off not having done so.
Temple of Maggie is a lot harder than this TAS makes it look! Violet/Blue = Easy - Yellow/Green = Normal - OJ = Hard AF!!
What's wrong with the sound? Is only one side of the audio running in this?
My favorite Door game on this was the Bart Man door because of the bosses an the Music.

What happened with the music?
Da da da da da da, whoa!!

Old emulator, the run is from 2007.
Sculptured Software's early piss poor efforts on the SNES.
This video was recorded back in 2007 with bad quality recording equipment so the music doesn't sound that good.
I rented this game once as a kid. Never again.

I have this game and some of the music and SFX sounded a bit off but good video though
I'm surprised you didn't get an A+
Is that even possible?
Yes, you have to defeat the 3 eyes fish 3 times, that saved me from a bad grade in game.
i like you you play so skillfully
Nice run \w/
just curious, why only have a grade of B when this is TAS?
Speed over score in this case. Playing "perfect" doesn't necessarily include a maximum/high score unless it's a specific goal of the runner.
