It's the X-Men, and they're out to stop Magneto and whomever else is bad.
This game stars five of the X-men: Cyclops, Wolverine, Gambit, Beast, and Psylocke. (Professor X is probably coaching them from a safe place, like he always does.) Each member has their own level to complete, but anyone can be chosen to play the remaining levels. The author primarily uses Beast for his power, though Psylocke is chosen in one stage. God, I had this game as a kid and it's just awesome! Killer friggin soundtrack...
Capcom was really killing it in the soundtrack and sound design department back in the day.
Hell yes! So many memories. I used to play this game on weekends, at my sister's house with my nephews (who are old enough to be my cousins btw), all the time. We had a blast! I sucked at it but it was still fun, nonetheless. 😄💯
Wolverine is foreveralone in the ending slides, lol.
He had a thing with Storm at one time. They were even married in the pseudo-Age of Apocalypse storyline the animated series did. Would've been neat if they'd been together in his ending slide.

that was foreshadowing his next mission in War of the Gems with the Avengers together with Iron Man, Captain America, Incredible Hulk and Spider-Man to battle Thanos for the six infinity stones
This game and War of the Gems are absolutely incredible, I had only these 2 games for a long while as a kid so I still know them front to back lol

I just bought this played this again this past week (first time in a long time). Apocalypse is REALLY hard!
It is indeed a hard game. This is a TAS (Tool Assisted Superplay/Speedrun) which is a frame perfect playthrough of the game. It takes a lot of time to be done though since it requires a lot of save and load states.
Psylock and Gambit were my favorite ones to play. Man I miss this game.
Yes friend I understand you, psylocke the woman we all love and Gambit was the favorite of many, a heartthrob with girls, eccentric, serious and mysterious that we all wanted to be like this guy.

Definitely a game by Capcom.

Everyone in this game is thicc not just Psylocke, Cyclops is looking like a snack heck even the enemies lol

Growing up my friend had this on his snes and I had X-men 2 on Genesis. We often talked about how if X-men 2's gameplay had been matched with Mutant Apocalypse's graphics, the perfect X-men game would be the result, haha.
Those 5 mutants shown at the end would have been great additions to the game.
Can't go wrong there! Especially Jubilee who I honestly feel, needs more love and spotlight. Fyi she was/is in one of the slides, alongside Beast, during the credits. 😁💯

I just beat this a few days ago for the first time. Where was this video when I needed help beating Magneto. I eventually did, but not with this much finesse.
If you use beast you can just constantly butt-bounce on Magnetos head until he dies. I was honestly surprised the TAS didn’t use that tactic (but the TAS is faster).

i loved psylocke so much in this and in Gems off war. i let the Game Run for Hours ( Gems Off war) whit the Awesome Iron man Stage and cranked the Volume up so that even my Neighbours heared the Sound xd.
The Apocalypse level works with Beast walking on the ceiling as well.
The only way to improve the video is to have the "previously, on X-Men.." clip on at the beginning.

That was hardest than marvel superheroes war of gems. I always died and all that i could do from the special moves were dash attacks.

Usually, if an antagonist is featured from the start of a story, that means they are not the main antagonist, and it will be someone else who is revealed as the true main antagonist. Check the password screen on 10:26; the picture of a "certain mutant" is in there.
