Hey, Stefan here. I'm glad you ended up liking the song! To be totally honest, this is pretty tame for Spencer 😅 This song is one of many that's made me realize that you don't need to showcase your full capabilities in every song. Sometimes playing what fits with the music works better than playing crazy technical stuff.
Awesome!! Can’t believe I’m just now seeing this. Spencer is an old friend of mine. He’s as good and genuine a person as he is a drummer. An absolute beast and TOTALLY dedicated drummer.
What a coincidence , i discovered this band like last week and cant stop listening to their stuff! Really hope they will play live in Europe ( Belgium ) soon , would love to see that show!!
I've watched his playthough probably 5 times in the past week because it's just so tasty and well orchestrated with the rest of the music. What a fantastic drummer.
Welcome to the dark side amigo! The literal best musicians are metal players. It's sad only certain few, like us, will get to hear the peak of human abilities musically.
this band is a new find for me, 'm usually a prog guy but this has some killer phrasing and riffs, not just you're blasty tech death. Loving some of the modern prog grooves happening
I've noticed right when things start to get spicy in these videos, Andrew leans away from the mic and coughs! You can see the endless hours of practice in this guys skills, his precision is impressive to say the least!
I've been about inferi when they only had demos to stuff..One of their OG fans here and its SOOO cool to have become chill with them and now see the success and growth they have and are having. Theyre the best n I knew it 14 years ago whatever
I find when I am speeding around the drums I hold the sticks further back on the sticks. When I am just grooving and playing straight beats I use a more normal folcrum grip
You know Andrew, from one (seasoned) drummer to another, while the newer heavy hitters are mind blowing with speed and technical ability, it is very flashy and performance/ visually oriented. To do drum corp or a 'Steve Gad/ Jeff Porcaro' shuffle is very technical and musicians, particularly drummers like you and I are amazed, average listeners won't/ don't get why or how those forms of drumming/ percussion are cool AND while the new guys do astound, they most likely couldn't do a for real shuffle or series of rudiments... Not bad on them, it just is what it is. Love the videos, tho! They do inspire!
Moving your fulcrum around the stick now and then is healthy. Personally I find that moving it up the stick a bit makes me a bit more accurate and it forces me to work a bit more for accents but in return my rudiments become that much more consistent. It's all down to preference I guess.
Clicked so fast my metronome couldn't keep up 😄 Edit: I, also, hold my sticks very low the majority of the time...grip, of course, being shifted as need be. But I'm completley self taught (I wish we had a resource like UA-cam back in the late 80's lol), so I never especially thought about it too deeply. I do play in a more relaxed manner, though, at least from the waist up...my lower body stays more tense, generally speaking.
You know, I was watching this, and I realized in this video that you are becoming desensitized to extreme metal. You can see it in your face, and it's great.
Quick question! How big is the difference between a floor tom and a rack tom? Is it a diameter thing? I'm very curious because my "Floor" looks like his third "Rack"
Its just about Placement. A Tom on the rack is a rack Tom and Same With floor. There are people With 16“ racktoms which normally would be placed on the floor
This guy is amazing for sure, but the lack of Dirk Verbeuren reactions on youtube is mind blowing. There is like one I can find. The dude has around 600-700 something recorded songs by countless metalbands and has such a unique groove and vocabulary (im a total fanboy, but come on! his work with scarve, soilwork, sybreed alone is just great) For anyone thats at least slightly intrigued check out "MDF 2013 - Dirk Verbeuren - Part 2 - Scarve "Asphyxiate" " or for a short but sweet demonstration of his signature crazy accents during triplet blasts: "Dirk Verbeuren - Sybreed drum recording 3" If youre a metal drum nerd like me you wont regret it, been gushing over that video for 14 years.
Holding the sticks right at the end seems to be rife in the world of elite players. I noticed even Danny Carey has moved his grip down the stick. Spencer is sick (but his sticks look more like chop sticks lol). Keep those nostrils flaring Andrew!
Hell yeah! Cheers, Andrew!
Hey! Thanks for watching!! 🥁☕️💯🙌
Holy shit! You guys freakin jam!
I just discovered you guys a few days ago. I love it all!

100% correct Stefan! Thanks for an awesome pick bro!!!
This brings me great pleasure!
Inferi is amazing. The live show is just as fantastic! Make sure to catch them live and support Inferi!
Thanks bro!
Yes they are! And the vocalist seems to be the most happy, smiling all the time, nicest people the extreme metal genre has to offer.
@@Nscalestuff Hey, thats me haha. Thank you so much for the kind words. They are greatly appreciated!
@@stevieboiser2304 absolutely! When this craziness lets up, get on back east of Nashville, over the mountain, back into central NC and play sometime!
@@Nscalestuff We most definitely will!
Inferi is one of my favourite bands and I found out about them not too long ago. Incredibly talented and wholesome musicians.
Awesome!! Can’t believe I’m just now seeing this. Spencer is an old friend of mine. He’s as good and genuine a person as he is a drummer. An absolute beast and TOTALLY dedicated drummer.
Spencer is a God damn machine
What a coincidence , i discovered this band like last week and cant stop listening to their stuff! Really hope they will play live in Europe ( Belgium ) soon , would love to see that show!!

I've watched his playthough probably 5 times in the past week because it's just so tasty and well orchestrated with the rest of the music. What a fantastic drummer.
Crazy phrasing and musical choices
That whole band is fuckin incredible. Great choice by the patron :D
This is not really my kind of music, but: This drummer is so fast and "clean", wow, amazing!!! Good choice for this channel!👍😊
Yes Daniel! 👌

You could checkout spencers blindfolded one take playthrough. Cheeky.
I was about to suggest this! A beckoning thrall I think
Good call!
Nice double bass playing here.

This guy is sooooooo relaxed
Is that a Yuengling I spy? Representing those Philly brews
wow what musicality in his fills/beats!
This guy is just the business, nailing the fills and killing those accents with the rest of the band.
The whole band is incredibly talented, great pick!
Yes Daniel! 👌

HAHA!
I've had an annoying cough for a bit now. Crazy drum chops might be setting it off!

Spencer is beast mode
Yes Sam!
Was that . . . a Yuengling?!
Late night in NZ then hey, Andrew. Greetings from Liverpool U.K.
Check the one he did blindfolded!!
This is what being in the pocket sounds and looks like in this genre hahahahaha
"Trick" pedals are great. also wanted and want. they work for compression.
Ahhhhhh yesssss great video ! The way I hold my sticks helps me to drop them 🤑
I find when I am speeding around the drums I hold the sticks further back on the sticks. When I am just grooving and playing straight beats I use a more normal folcrum grip
Spencer has another does another playthrough blindfolded..."Within the dead horizon". check it out
It was "a beckoning thrall" that was blindfolded
That made walking my dog super enjoyable
GREAT!

Totally! No right and wrong

Clicked so fast my metronome couldn't keep up 😄

Great video as always... But I think it would have been even cooler if he had chugged a cup of hot coffee! 😆

Yay!!!

Inferi just dropped a new drum playthrough pls react thanks love you goodbye
Stickholding is Phil Collins - like.
Old man’s child- black seeds on virgin soil
God of Impiety is great, too. Ill-Natured Spiritual Invasion is a great album overall.
Check out “Lend Myself to the Night” by Devildrver off of their album “Beast”🤘🏼 fucking legit bro. Matt on the drums kills it
Thanks Brendan! 🙏
John Boecklin is the drummer, my mistake 😅
This is why practice rudiments!
Not my cup of tea....but thanks for the insight Andrew 👍🏻🥂
👌
Hola me llamo alfonso dominguez soy de chile Te recomiendo un baterista. Cristobal orozco. Grupo octopus tema ethereal mind.
Gracias!
I play with my hands on the sticks about where his are actually. But I'm nowhere near a good drummer at the moment.
so...this drummer took of kind of out nowhere 2 minutes into the song lol
