Spray paint was definitely not the right choice. I am planning to color my RG35xx by submerging it in hot water with black fabric dye. I emailed ambernic and they sent me the correct temperature to do it, which is 40 - 50ºC. There are multiple videos on UA-cam showing this method for "tinting transparent plastic" controllers. My only concern is the screen removal process. This video did not make me any more confident when it comes to disassembling the screen. Could you describe this process a bit better? Thanks for the awesome video btw!
Considering we broke the display, the only advice is to "be very, VERY careful... and don't bend the screen" - Tinting with dye is definitely the way to go! Thanks for the VERY informative comment. I'll stick a pin in this

Are you going to try this again? The cool thing about the transparent case is that you can paint it on the inside and get a perfect looking finish on the outside. There's a few people that did this already on the subreddit!
If we were to attempt it again, it'd probably be using dye... Or using the clear yellow without primer. Good point regarding the inside, getting a finish is half the work!
@@TeamPandory I'm not an expert, but I'd leave out the primer when painting from the inside. Just make sure the surface is 100% clean from oil and dirt. You're not really touching it, so no primer shouldn't be an issue. Check out QueeefLedger's post on the RG35XX subreddit. He did a little walkthrough of his procedure and it looks phenomenal!
*Skilled Pro* would assume we'd get paid good money doing this to not need another full-time job... I don't think anyone in their right mind would be happy with what happened to that RG35XX 😆

Being straight with you as I can, I just let out the biggest single laugh when you said that even the screen has miraculously aged and then turned it on. I laughed so loud I woke up the new baby puppy I just got. Anyways the good news is I showed my puppy the video and she didn't say anything bad about it.... The bad news and she's just a puppy she can't even barked yet let alone talk like a human. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Seriously though. I ordered new trigger buttons for a very similar anbernic item, and watching you open this gave me a lot of confidence that I will easily be able to install them. Thank you so much for sharing your failures along with your victories. Or better yet, thank you for taking but usually could have been a failure and turning it into another one of your victories. This is my favorite video yet. Besides the one on MTV Appreciate you buddy.
It'd be neat to get a 3d print model to 3d print our own cases in different plastics. I have this grey marble filled PLA that would be so sick for a case, it has such a nice texture. Or with a small CNC, have a wood or aluminum case.

I wonder if you could just have painted the inside and the yellow would have showed through. FYI, you typically want to use adhesive promotor on plastic parts.

I guess. The reason I wanted to take it apart was to be thorough. One thing you need to be careful with when using tape is to not have it stick too well and break the screen when you remove it.

Get something you don't care about - or you could practice on a broken / used handheld you found in the shop.

mr.hobby surfacer 1500 white is recommended for yellow spray work. Then there will be better results.
