Most passive movespeed buff, play her with rosaria for night time speed and 2 anemo characters, I prefer heizou (if no kazuha) for sprint stamina reduc and sayu for healing(maybe) also her e

Deyha feels like she's missing her ascension passives. It feels like she has all the right pieces, but they forgot to glue them all together (which is what ascension passives usually do!)
Her first ascension should have been in her base kit. And without conditions; level-2 super armor always, and actual mitigation for Dehya always. The better A1 would add team healing per Q punch.

It's just that Mihoyo doesn't care, she is supposed to be a standard character after all, you gotta make people feel bad when they lose their 50 50.
Instead, her ascension passives are both needed to make her damage migration/mitigation reach the level that Xingqiu's E just naturally has...
The (sadly) hilarious thing is how Mihoyo seems to cover all the exits to make her even remotely decent, like seriously, you can't even make a cursed physical build because her NA multipliers are lower than god damn Dori for no apparent reason.
If dehya didn't have a good character and bad design ill be ready to receive qiqi instead of her

Really my only reaction to how bad Dehya's kit is compared to other characters is just...why?
Yes I know how there will always be weak units but there's no reason why Dehya should be like this. It's just disappointing. I'm not a "meta slave" but seeing KQM say themselves she "does not provide enough significant use cases to recommend using over many other characters" for her is just telling that even theorycrafters struggle to think of what to do.

@Zaraki I've seen this claim going around and to not repeat what others have said, some of the dark skineed characters cited have use cases. If it really is a case of racial prejudice, we shouldn't be seeing similarly lackluster white or fair-skinned characters yet for most of the game's life the one character considered objectively bad the most is Amber...a fair or white-skinned character. Just as Candance, Dehya, and Xinyan are supposedly bad, Amber, Lisa, a majority of the Traveler variants, etc. are also not as good as players would like. It's all the same that there are good and bad characters, it's just that in Dehya's case it's just really bad.
I think it's easy to jump on this train of racial prejudice without realizing Sumeru is the just the first region where darker-skinned characters are the norm if accuracy to real life is to be observed. So it's natural to have less dark-skinned characters and NPCs early game and whether or not racial prejudice exists remains to be seen once more characters get released.

As someone who actively follows the CBT leaks, it's also worth noting that Dehya was... Okay at the start of the 3.5 beta. Then she was nerfed into the dirt a couple weeks in, and that's the state we got her in the patch. That's why a lot of people were up in arms. Not to mention they ALSO nerfed the upcoming artifact set for her during the 3.6 beta. It seems like they're *actively* going out of their way to murder her and I just do not comprehend why.
Eh, she wasn't 'that' much better. She was still barely a stain on Diluc's boot, and inferior to any defensive support at the same time. The second round of changes that gave her baseline HP scaling was almost worse than the initial nerf because it devalued higher levels of ATK while not adding useful amounts of HP scaling.
Tbh they nerfed every single character (at some extent) in the beta since 3.x started. The philosophy seems clear: they see Bennet, Xingqiu, Fischl, etc a MISTAKE, which they will never make again

I miss the days when Mihoyo would listen to players and fix their shitty characters.
I think an even bigger issue now is that she made people question HoYo's ability to create characters. Before her (at least I personally) never questioned if a character that was about to be released might be bad or even near unplayable (like Dehya in this case). Sure, everyone knows that some characters are worse or better than others but now that we have a character that was this hyped and turned out to be this bad... it really lowers my expectations for the future. Now everytime I see a cool new character being announced I will always have this thought in the back of my head saying "what if he/she is also just a trash tier char that had no thought or care put into it?"
I'm convinced they made her bad to dilute the standard pool since Keqing and Tighnari are decent DPS characters right now.

Exactly, they may think people will just brush off dehya being horrible and move on (and some will sadly), but the truth is they have lost a ton of respect and trust from the community. I'd recommend everyone stop spending money on the game, because not only is that the only way our protests will reach them, but it's also just a good personal decision because what if you spend a bunch of money to get a character only for them to turn out like dehya? It's not worth the money anymore

What's even worse is that from what I've heard on reddit, the play testers told Mihoyo she was bad, and then they nerfed her. They did one of my favorite characters SO dirty, and as a result, I didn't pull for her.

I kinda get why too. With other characters there was a legit argument to made that you should not write them off until people have had enough time to try teams. We have seen this with Kazuha/Kokomi and plenty of others. But with Dehya its just too obvious that she is broken and even that new artifacts set for her seems little better than a band aid.

Which is exactly why i've been telling people not to expect buffs/fixes to her kit. They know she is bad and i kinda suspect that was the whole point to begin with.

I think it's clear what the intention was with Dehya: to dilute the standard 5* characters because Tighnari is actually a pretty ok character and Keqing was buffed too much by dendro. They still need for there to be a high chance of getting a useless 5* I guess.
I am pretty sure this theory is correct. It perfectly explains why she can be so damn bad without the devs noticing during her beta testing and why Hoyo don't seem interested in either buffing or fixing her kit. She is supposed to be bad.
This is the only thing that makes sense to me. In the leaks during development she used to be stronger but was actually nerfed even more despite many complaining how weak she was. Her poor damage would have been fine if her defensive ability was better. The super armor buff you get is too short and the CD on the ability is too long. You can in fact use her defensively as a kind of Zhongli substitute so long as Bennett is paired with her but then the burst is useless and should never be used. At least Zhongli can be used to do damage with his burst in a geo team and the petrify ability can be useful too.
So yeah she was made for the specific purpose of making you lose 50/50 painful.

When a new 5 star gets added to the standard, there would be news or leaks. Like tighnari's. But there was none on dehya. It's like the other way instead, they made her so bad, that they had to put her in standard.

Dehya's kit is a MASTERCLASS of game design, I commend mihoyo for teaching a whole new generation of future game devs all you shouldn't do when designing a playable character, allowing them to experience it by themselves when playing dehya

When Dehya was first shown off in 3.0, I was really excited to pull for her eventually. In my opinion she is the best designed character of Sumeru, both in terms of looks and personality and story presence.
Even after it was leaked how bad she was going to be, I still wanted to pull for her. But then Mihoyo went one step further and announced that they will throw her onto the standard banner. They did it, they managed to make a character that would've been an almost-guaranteed must-pull so bad and useless, that I decided to skip.
I had wanted to pull her ever since I saw her too. Even had 300 intertwined fates saved up. Guess I will just hold on to them.
Despite me knowing and seeing video flooding my main page i still pulled for her hoping one day she will be helped like kuki and thoma + i use her with kuki hyperbloom as coping support
Bruh same, I loved her design upon the first sumeru leaks, then when she first hit beta I was like she looks so cool and prefarmed for her and her weapon. Then over the course of beta realizing she’s near useless AND going to be standard, I had to skip
Tall lioness-themed pyro claymore user who's a brawler and no-nonsense? I feel like she was tailor made to appeal to me, and then this is the result. I'm not even salty that I don't have her, I'm salty that I'll probably never be able to feel happy about getting her in the future unless the character is entirely reworked.
Honestly yeah, I think Dehya's kit was intentionally made to be as bad as it is. I have no idea why, but there is NO WAY it was on accident. Hoyoverse have had three years to develop Genshin and design characters, they should already know what makes a character good and bad. It's really sad since my friend is trying to main her, but she keeps getting kicked out of co-op lobbies all the time and keeps having to ask me to carry her through domains and bosses.
Really hope Hoyoverse gives her the Zhongli treatment and outright buffs her, but I already know that's not happening lol. Poor Dehya.

The other is Xinyan. And Xinyan is a D-tier character already, so you can imagine how bad Dehya is.
I’ve never been hesitant to pull for a character I like because they’ve always been usable to some extent. Dehya’s release is going to make me think twice on every 5 star released from now on though. I simply don’t understand why they decided to make her this way. It’s such a bummer because her design and character are fantastic! I feel like we were bound to get a crappy 5 star eventually but I really wish it hadn’t been Dehya. She’s so cool she didn’t deserve this…
i actually am fine getting any standard 5 star. They are very strong units. Tighnari and jean are exceptionally good. Keqing is going god mode with dendro. Qiqi always carries for healing in coop when fighting bosses. Mona, well she is a hydro unit. Hydro units are carrying this whole game. Diluc he is simple and powerful.
But dehya. Yeah she is weak af.
Made me afraid to pull for anything.
If it helps, leaks subreddit watched her numbers get nerfed during beta for like... a month. Even some of her glitches were known of, and never patched, weeks before her release
As long as you stay informed and don't listen to doomposting, you'll have an okay idea of how usable a character idea is on release-- of course, it's still a good idea to wait a week anyway
I heard about a deleted reddit that said why the dev team didn't want to work on Dehya properly. Apparently, the female staff don't like her unconservative design, but I dont know how that translates to not working her kit properly.

You're just having a Personal Skill issue.
How they didn't give her kit a burgeon/burning buff is beyond me. Every other 5 star sumeru character has interacted with dendro and its reactions in some way. Nilou buffs bloom, Nahida buffs everything, Alhaitham is dendro driver, Tighnari is meant for Spread and Cyno for Aggravate. Dehya's design screams burgeon or burning, and mihoyo had a chance to make burning an exciting reaction to use. Especially with her dmg absorption, she could have mitigated the self-inflicted burn dmg the team would otherwise take and then unleash it in her burst as a revenge attack. The slow pyro application would work well with burning too, because you can keep reapplying dendro to keep the burning reaction up.
They technically did make her a burning unit since Ganyu Melt with Dehya is more playable

She might be more aligned to be a burning applicator considering her skill's hitrate is the same as Nahida's which I doubt is just coincidence, but coincidentally enough, cryo literally isn't updated with a new artifact set ever since 1.3, which sounds to me like they were waiting for 3.0 for dendro's release so that burning may be involved with a melt-oriented cryo set. Dehya could be the one running the set like how supports could run blizzard strayer and still affect the team, so in theory, Dehya gets buffed by convenience of pyro application and role compression.
Idk why she's so bad, Tighnari is a standard banner character too and he's a very solid character
All the standard banner characters are solid in their roles. Tighnari and Keqing do well in their quicken teams, both sort of taking a kind of quick swap role. Diluc still performs well in vaporize, overvape, mono pyro, etc. Mona is a great support for many many teams with her damage boost, taunt, and usage of tenacity or noblesse and can even still do great damage with emblem. Qiqi heals the most in the game (Kokomi still can’t take that crown) with over 10k heals with talisman active at lv 80 C0 (atk atk healing bonus Aquila) and can still do decent damage with her multipliers. Jean is also a great healer who can deal great physical or anemo damage and act as a viridescent support in many teams, remove pesky auras like cryo and hydro, burst heal the entire team at once, fling small enemies away etc.
Dehya’s role is defensive utility, barely. It just feels like they took many different ideas and mashed it into one character, lowered the values and % of everything, and threw it out to the public. The devs really could have just went all in with her defensive capabilities and give her a burst that helps on that 😂 but ofc not, it just has to be a buggy, low damage dealing burst, that sure, looks cool. She’s definitely the embodiment of “let’s pull cuz she’s pretty.” Imo. In a game where many events and abyss has timed combat modes, Dehya just doesn’t make sense compared to the alternatives.
I will say using Dehya in the overworld to do your dailies and explore and stuff is fine though. Maybe that’s what Mihoyo was going for? A character you can run around with relaxing (especially with the movement speed during day passive)? Idk 🤷♂️ though you can do that with most characters

@@soaps7033 that's because she's a four star and not because of her race. If you really think this is about race, then take a look at the characters from Liyue, which is based on China. Just like Candace from Sumeru desert, it has some really bad units like Xinyan. But just like Cyno, Liyue also has good characters like Hu Tao.

I CANNOT fathom, how a character can be made so poorly, that their *C6* should be their base kit. I just- How? The only possible scenario I have in mind is that they just genuinely hate her. But then why bother making her design and character good? Why bother making her a 5*? Why bother making her in the first place? And even if so, I don't understand. The disgusting amounts of money they could've made with giving her not even a good, but just a functioning kit... I remember how absolutely speechless i was when she got nerfed in the CBT. Like she was already bad and they just nerfed her even more. It felt like we're being made fun of. Dehya has to be a prank or something.
Basically, it's that moment where they made a gimmick without actually considering that it would be better to instead work on what already was good. That is to say, Dehya being a Fontaine character before Fontaine made zero sense, and she should have been designed around Burning or Burgeon instead

I always thought that one of Dehya 's passive should have been some sort of a Berserker mode, when she receives a certain amount of damage she goes Berserk (similar to the Jadeplume) getting a DMG, crit boost and immunity to interruption boost at the cost of an extremely low healing capability every certain amount of time. Also I think Dehya should have been a perfect character for having a counter ability like Beidou with a parry bonus if done correctly
Honestly what I'd do to fix her is give her a passive similar to Vladimir's from league make her area follow the active character and just give flat damage reduction instead of whatever the hell that is and make her ult an infusion like cyno that alters her ability that grants a shield scaling with attack and have the damage from AA scale with HP
Essentially just remake her entire kit

@@braddl9442 honestly I'd just make her C1 or C4 give her EM based on a percentage of her HP to keep that type of build in there and idk give her something that if she's below 20% HP she'll regain a part of the damage she took as HP and either all or part of it converted ad bonus damage for the skill or burst
@@panna7241Her second passive heals her when she gets below 40% hp. I also think that if they changed the duration and cooldown times on her skill and shortened the intervals for coordinated attacks her skill would be much better. They could also do something with her dmg mitigation like making it buff her skill, burst and normal atk. Make her burst like itto's and make her take increased dmg during her burst and have her get big dmg buffs when she takes dmg during the burst based on the dmg taken. Coordinated attacks could also buff her hp. Another thing they could change would be her c1 and add that part of her hp is turned into atk. They could also make her c2 that each time she hits an enemy with her burst she will heal her teammates. Tbh i dont really think her kit needs a total makeover but rather improvements in certain areas where it is lacking.
It's frustrating to think HoYo might get away with releasing her in this state. So much of the big burst of heat they were getting over this has passed and idk if we'll ever get it to be that high again. There's a chance HoYo has listened and has buffs coming in the future but I worry that won't be the case.
Dehya doesn't need buffs. She needs a complete damn rework on her whole damn kit.
the heat has died down because a lot of people are so fed up with the state of the game that left. at some point mihoyo can do whatever they want, but they are not immune to consequences. at this pace we will never see the ka'nrya chapter of the game.
@@miroheartech4231 Yeah, after this (I held out for MONTHS with my primos, skipped other characters I wanted badly) I'm fucking done. She's worse than the MC. THE MC!!! She's worse than Lisa, she's worse than BARBARA. And she's a 5 star? I'm done. Hoyo's record of changing characters is virtually non-existent, Zhongli being the sole exception. I'm done with them.
@@SeraphimDragon hilariously, Barbara is pretty good in some Quickbloom comps like Cyno's since she can make cores. EM Lisa's burst is great on Aggravate teams. Even Qiqi now looks good beside her

hey at least pre buffed zhongli still got that crazy shield. the problem mainly laid on how bad his ult scaled, it scaled on his attack while the shield scales on hp, also there was no resistance shred. but who cares tbh, his thick ass shield was already much better than whatever the fuck they gave dehya
Pre buff zhongli are miles better than dehya, not even a fair comparison tbh.
Vanilla Zhongli's still had a solid shield and his burst could still deal a ton of damage. He was really only buffed because people were upset he wasn't as strong as in the closed beta and he's also an Archon.
Apparently Dehya is liked well enough in China due to her design and her yuri undertones but she's not an Archon so she's likely doomed.
I REALLY love Dehya ( Like i pulled for her and her weapon and got both to lvl90 as quickly as possible), but man you were damn right, like every single word is true about her kit. Just hope that she can get a buff cuz this is just a sad joke.
Dehya is a tank who essentially requires a healer. that's just bad design when it doesnt have a payoff
The one good thing about Dehya is that now by contrast Xinyan and Thoma look a lot better. I honestly think they added Dehya to make the standard banner worse on purpose. Because if you pull and get a Qiqi, you are more likely to keep going in the hope that you end up with something good.
qiqi is better than dehya lol, she can make your teams inmortal and in multiplayer its very good

I was really interested in getting Dehya but when I heard the rumors of her "nerfs" i just said "maybe was too broken, probably will work well with burgeon" but after the rumors increased the uncertain started to grow, the "she will go to the permanent banner" made me say "well even if it goes to the permanent she should be serviceable or functional as Diluc" but when she was released it was a complete pain to see what they did to her.
Definetly MiHoYo made a permanent character that is worst than Qiqi, at least Qiqi works as a healer but Dehya is a mess, I respect everyone that got her. The worst part is if the CN server didn't complain her, they'll never fix or buff Dehya, there is a rumor (copium) that she will improve with characters from Fontain or a new artifact set, but even the later got "rebalanced".
China thinks the west has the power to make Mihoyo move like we think Mihoyo only answer to China (which they do but China player base is too untitled to realize that Mihoyo is 99% not giving a f about complaints and the other 1% they care is China) so they gave up on her and went on to hype the next unit. On top of that the new banner which is only reruns is performing really well meaning people don't care in general, money is still flowing. By the way the new artifact set has been revealed and is obviously tailored for Dehya, except it's unusable before c4 because of her awfull energy and is like a 5% increase of damage on top of being awful to farm. So yeah she's screwed.

She's the most hated sumeru character in China tho, of course they won't bother at all.
Characters shouldn't have to depend on a team built around them or artifacts to function properly. They should have coherent kits that function well on their own, even if they're primarily meant to support other characters. Dehya is the first character (in what will likely be a long list of them sadly) that has suc a nonsensical kit that not even the strongest characters and artifacts can save her.
You forgot something Vars: the game's targeting system will actively fight against you if you activate her Burst against certain enemies (try using it against ASIMON when it goes invisible. Woof.).
Edit: Also, according to recent info gathering, Dehya is very much a "create a problem, sell the solution" situation. "Oh, her signature weapon can make use of the damage transfer! And we also have this new artifact set that can make use of it too!" And according to rumors, Fontaine will put more emphasis on facetanking.
But yeah, to see Dehya released like this is nothing short of frustrating and heartbreaking.
Not only will her burst not target enemies correctly. If the enemy is tall like say some of the ruin enemies. She will hit them without triggering bloom seeds for burgeon.
Except future Fontaine teams will also get screwed over Dehya’s derp.

unfortunately her weapon give her like plus 2k damage. And new set should give her like 200-300% (Not 90%) bonus because right now i have emblem with 190% ER so i already have +47% atack and her signature weapon. And with that her pure damge with 180% crit damge is 12k from burst.
So becouse she cant react she needs very much raw atack boost. For obvious reasons, this will never be added to the game. So the only way to save her is changes by the developer.
Shes so actively terrible, absolutely nothing can save her. Not her weapon, not her constellations, not her artifact set. At that level of investment, you could actually make a QIQI clam team that can actually clear abyss before dehya can lmfao

Honestly refreshing to see you get passionate about this particular character. It's easy to trust that if you're upset about it, and breaking the normal objective approach you take, then MHY really screwed up.
This is heartbreaking for sure. The only good thing about her is her character and who she is. If it wasn’t for that then I’m sure almost everyone wouldn’t like her at all or even try to play her. Regardless of how she plays I still use her for quests and world play as well as raise her bond too. It’s unfortunate that I don’t use her for the Abyss or fighting bosses.

This patch may as well be one of the worst patches i've seen in my 2 and a half year playtime,not only is it plain boring(they somehow managed to find a way to make theatre mechanicus even worse and braindead) but also had one of the biggest disappointments i and many players had in this game in form of dehya,what a waste of great character design and personality

It was indeed a pretty boring and terrible patch. Honestly nothing new, no good characters. At least I got Shenhe and her weapon out of it... but that's it.
Like many, I was really hyped for Dehya as a playable character. I was hoping that she will be the first pyro character that will put burgeon as a viable alternative to bloom, cause as much as I like the convent dmg of bloom, it restricts me to do a wider variety of team composition for dendro.
As mentioned in the video, Hoyo could've capitalized on Dehya's taken damage in a form if revenge mechanic (I'm thinking of putting it as an additional damage to her Q, just like how Sett's W in LOL works) but they didn't. They served Dehya as a complete mess.
To say that I'm disappointed would be an understatement. I wish this is the last time Hoyo would get away of this kind of BS lol
But it's HoYo. They'll get away with it till the end of time because of the rabid part of the fanbase (the majority) that will defend the game to the death.
on a positive note, burgeon Thoma is super viable :) as a low spend mobile player, I 36 starred the abyss for the first time last patch using a Thoma, Ayato, & Nahida team.

Yeah, what's crazy is that when you look at her kit as a whole, her taking damage over time literally does nothing positive for her. Her skill would be better without it since all it does is make her take unnecessary damage
Chances are, their going to do it again. The fan base for the game is so hooked on it, they’ll literally pull on anything that’s thrown in front of them.
It would require the majority of the player base to revolt against Hoyo in order to for anything to get fixed. And chances of that happening are slim to none.

I like the concept of Tank more dmg, deal more dmg. I think of it like this: Use Dehyas E and a visual indicator will appear (like Raidens E Tomoe Circle). The more damage is taken while the E is active the more charge you will have on the indicator. And based on the charge Dehyas Burst will deal more damage.
Lets say you can absorb up to 10.000 HP with the E skill. Depending on the charge Dehyas Burst deals an procentage equivalent as bonus dmg with her burst: 0-10.000 dmg taken = 0-100% Bonus Burst dmg.
With this kit the Constellations will have more potencial. Constellations could upgrade:
- max. Dmg that can be absorbend for example from 10k HP up 20k HP which results in -> 0-20.000 dmg taken = 0-200% bonus Burst dmg
- the dmg taken will be multiplied by (let's say) x1,5, for example: Hilichurl deals 1000 dmg to the active character but the E will add 1500 to the counter -> gain more charge

I remember when there was a leak of her as a 4* and while I was disappointed at the time I felt that if they were trying to make a burngion unit that a 4* version would be a good tester, then I heard she was a 5* and I thought that she must be a good burngion unit since she was upgraded, then her kit was revealed and I thought she would be a berserker, then the theory videos came out, then she came out and my desire to summon her was already long gone, and now we are hear getting her dedicated artifact set soon and it's only a 5-10% increase at the cost of reliability due to her high burst cost (and she needs to take damage) for a standard unit she will be incredibly hard to build for anyone

Being a standard banner character really doesn't help her case much if at all. The last standard 5 star added was Tighnari, and he's actually really good.
The thing is before Dehya everyone in the standard banner does their job. Jean and Qiqi heals, Diluc is a decent pyro DPS (not bad but there are better options), Keqing was okay before dendro but is now buffed, Mona is mona and Tighnari is dendro so he is good enough DPS. Dehya on the other hand barely functions as a character.
As someone above said, every standard character 5 stars does a good job at what they're supposed to do. Dehya can't.
Dehya does do one thing really well and that's making Thoma look good.
Poor Deyha, she got trapped in a mental state of breaking in a new sword over & over again & now she’s got an extremely inconsistent moveset. Somewhere on the development table, nobody wanted to give her a definitive move kit to work with.
It sucks that Dehya with such a good character design (aesthetically) came out like this... It really made me wonder if Hoyo was testing out if they could pull off a character with just looks.

Nowadays, my main gripe with Dehya is that she doesn't do much other than just tank.
For example, (HSR) Fu Xuan can heal the party and boost crit rate.
Kakania (Reverse 1999) can deal damage that bypasses resistances, scaling off how much damage she takes...
Seems like Dehya walked so Fu Xuan and Kakania could run.
She should've had a revenge counter like you said when tanking dmg and stacking it like Itto's or Eula's lightsword then use it with her ult for explosive dmg

Even if you ignored how obviously BAD her kit is, the real proof of how little Hoyo cares about her is how many extreme bugs she has that they are ignoring. 2 Days after Mikas release Hoyo gave us apologems because Mikas charge attack was 5 stamina cheaper than it should be, a beneficial bug, and they are sorry and will fix it immediately.
Dehyas Burst Cancels if you jump, Burst cancels if you run into terrain, Burst auto targeting is stupid and cant attak Azdas tail, Devalins pimple, or enemy structures, her skill will disappear if you swap characters too fast, her skill (with interruption res) can be interrupted while casting.
They just obviously do not give a shit about Dehya and it honestly makes me want to quit playing. THIS is the future of the game? They already told us that there will never be endgame content and future characters are going to be Dehyas??? Why bother to keep playing.
The thing is, none of those are bugs. The reason why running into terrain and jumping ends her burst is because both actions interrupt the animation, that is intentional. Autotargeting has always been brain-dead. Her Skill disappears if you swap out too quickly because the frame it is created occurs after the point that you can swap out. Her Skill can be interrupted because skills don't inherently grant resistance to interruption.

It's not all one animation because her burst is entirely reliant on you to use. Not even mentioning the fact that she can dash around while in her burst, like all characters who have similar ults.

Funny you mention hoping Dehya would be a spiritual successor to Diluc. Way back when all we knew were her looks and name, I had hoped she'd be a hybrid of Diluc and Hu Tao.

the crazy thing about her kit is that i can't even MIAGINE a situation where this kit was like this from the start,it looks like she was made broken and then little by little they nerfed the heck out of her kit resulting in the version of the character we have now
There's a lot of issues I want to be addressed with Dehya, she just really needs to have her current kit fixed tbh like she would've worked *IF* she didn't have just bs issues.
First - her skill. It's a form of defensive utility. What really sucks about it is that it's not really that efficient in keeping you alive because it has such a stupidly high downtime. You know what could make it work? The second recast of her skill refreshes the skill duration, or her burst refreshes its duration, much like how Kokomi can extend the duration of her jellyfish by casting her burst, by then, you'd actually have a reason to use it because it pretty much has 100% uptime and you're not really gonna die without it.
Another one is her skill's pyro application. Small hitbox, very long intervals on it, making it unreliable for burgeon, which is something she could've been so good at. But no. Very long downtime, and unreliable pyro app. Everything about her skill is so bad, because I'm pretty sure her skill applied pyro every 2.5 seconds, and during that timeframe, you could generate a lot of dendro cores. Because of ICD of dendro core damage, if you let too many dendro cores hang around on the ground untouched, if Dehya pops them, it's only gonna do two instances of burgeon damage. It's already a DPS loss at that point.
Third, her lack of synergy with off-field supports. The only characters that really synergize greatly with her is the core members of mono pyro, namely Kazuha, Xiangling and Bennett. Yelan and Xingqiu does not work with her which is absolute bs, even worse than Raiden's issue with Beidou (I genuinely don't understand why the hell is Hoyoverse so petty like this) and honestly, Lyney does better in that mono pyro team. Slap Childe, Ayato or Xingqiu and it's gonna be better. Furina's addition could help her but honestly not really, because you would need a healer and Bennett doesn't really suffice for her in Dehya teams unless you really put in the effort to put him on 4pc Maiden's or Clam.
Fourth, her burst. It's so.. disappointing. The damage.. it's there, I guess. If they wanted to make her a DPS, at least make her numbers decent. Even Ningguang or Lisa might even be better than her at damage outputs. Not to mention the stupid fact that your burst gets cancelled when you jump, why tf does that issue exist?
Her kit is trying to be too good at too many things at once and it absolutely sucks at it. DPS? Bad multipliers. No synergistic supports. Defensive utility? Healers and shielders exist - Xingqiu does the job better and provides damage and enable reactions. She wants to become a burgeon carry? Her skill sucks at it. That's why she'll always stay at Level 20 for me. :/
The most depressing character in Genshin of all time for me. Sadly Dehya is the second (first is Xinyan) character that I thought would be decent until I saw the flaws personally. I quit the game last year but returned when my friends sent me pictures of Dehya. I have a thing for characters with some color and Dehya hit the spots I like with her aesthetic alone. When she showed up in story I thought, wow she's a great character I can't until she's playable. I saved for months and even skipped Ayato and Alhaitham who I wanted for her.
After a week of playing with her and getting C2 with her BIS without spending money I can say she's the worst character in the game for me. She's too much of a hassle to use even to take down world bosses but my C0 Yae Miko performs better with a 4 star weapon. Dehya can work with Burgeon but it's too much setup and I don't feel like doing that all the time. I honestly would've been ok with they delayed her for another patch if they were able to work on her more but they obviously don't care and want to keep it moving. Her constellations definitely seems like it was made for a 4 star character as well.
Lesson learned I guess, don't give your hopes up for a character unless it's an archon or release day. I basically quit again since Dehya has ruined my excitement for anything in Genshin. I'm playing other games while I wait for Honkai Star Rail since I like turn based games and I'm already interested in the story and characters such as Himeko, Bronya and Jing Yuan. I don't regret starting Genshin but I wish the team would try more with their characters and quality of life.
I lost Nahida to Dehya, came there to salt my wounds even further 😂

The 2 theories I've seen as to why Dehya's so crap is 1- Mihoyo thought her kit was so terrible they opted to neuter then shover her off to the standard banner. 2- Petty company infighting with someone higher up wanting to sabotage Dehya as a f you to their creators.
Eh, let me give you a third: She's pyro Kokomi: a defensive, off-field, elemental applicator who plays at being DPS during her burst. And I do mean play, not for real-real.
She's not supposed to have good DPS, so when players complained about that, the designers just ignored it. And just like they messed up when they tried to do a pyro spin on Noelle (that being Xinyan), they screwed the pooch again, with a kit that has all sorts of issues. But not being a hydro catalyst user, well, the kit actually has to function, and it doesn't.

Dehya's base ATK is on the same lv as bow users. This is someone who uses a GREAT SWORD. They have said nothing about her kit or address any of the complaints. I say SHE is a SIGN of the beginning of Myho not caring anymore.
Genshin logic: Characters that aren't actual fighters by lore are busted in gameplay. Characters that are fighters by lore are laughably weak.

Thoma, Yanfei, sucrose, and Amber are better in mono-pyro.
She is workable, but worse than many in burgeon. Especially if you have EM non-claymore weapons.

I like to run Noelle with Dehya. While Noelle has a shield, her shield’s downtime is pretty long and I use her shield during Dehya’s skill’s downtime. I find that this gives Dehya enough time to heal herself in prolonged fights while still having her skill work to full effect despite having a shielder. I do feel like these two characters do make up for the other’s defensive shortcomings.
I have no idea why they didn’t simply make her a Burning/Burgeon dps. It would’ve been perfect for a Sumeru character to showcase the new reaction.
Hoyoverse made a feedback form about Dehya. About her normal attacks, her skill, her burst, her constellations, talents, everything.
I thought: "Let me just fill this out real quick" and it actually took me over 2 hours to write all of it down and I probably still missed something.
In the end pretty much the only thing I could think of that Dehya excels at was to walk around dragon spine without the use of food buffs.
I mentioned all of the things I could think of that makes her broken and bad including the fact that you pretty much needed to get her C6, her signature weapon R5 as well as perfect stats on your artifacts (which you will likely never get because of RNG) to even make her just somewhat decent.
Also pointing out that it is a failure of the designers if you have to get the constellations to make her playable, as they are there to improve a character and not fix something that is broken to begin with.
Ending it by saying that all in all she needs to be buffed on all fronts or reworked completely.
Like you said I was honestly expecting that Dehya was going to be someone who would take damage, get enraged and deal a ton of damage back in return and I think that would be cool.
Right now she is trying to be too many things and failing at everything.
She tries to be a tank (any shielder does it better)
She can heal (but only herself)
She can't do damage because of the low damage multipliers
She does have some things that buff her damage when she takes damage (not enough for it to matter at all)
Yup. She is the polar opposite of Qiqi, who is a complete one-trick pony

Honestly when I first saw Dehya's skill, I thought it'd be a Pyro infusion like Chongyun's skill. I think that'd actually be a MASSIVE buff for her
Her damage absorption not boosting her Burst has got to be one of the biggest slaps to the face in the history of cohesive gameplay design. She literally just takes damage for the team just... because!?... Literally every shielder in the game does her "job" better than she does.
i honestly also wished she didn't heal just herself so i don't have to slap a healer.

I feel that if she was able to use her burst and skill, this would make her better as she wouldn't be held back then
I wonder if she could be better if they changed her burst to work more like Itto/Noelle where she getts more dmg from her ATK stat and max HP but the dmg is autoattack not elemental burst dmg. This way she can work with Yelan, Xingqiu and Beidou and use Gladiator 4 piece passive
I dont understand how such a massive character in the story line, portrayed as this super bad A$$ warrior that kicks a$$ everywhere she goes, gets tossed out at us as a big pos 5* that has so much wrong with her, but never got fixed…
She’s got such an awesome design, and outfit its just such a shame to waste all that on a character that no one ever plays..

Huge RES for a time but not to long for balancing pvp. A little bit of healing and increases DMG when DMG is received. I mean, if we cut her energy problems, she looks like a good pvp option in any pvp game
i think dehya has the best character design of a female character in genshin, i loved her so much from the beginning bc she was so interesting has a unique story and oh my gosh her looks. But i didn't pull bc nothing in her kit works...
The concept for Dehya's character and playstyle vs. how it was executed is my biggest disappointment with the entire game so far. From the moment I first saw her in a cutscene I knew I was going to pull for her, which I still did, but the fact that having her take up a character slot is actively hindering yourself in most cases is just feels like a slap in the face to anybody who likes her design. If there was ever a time for a character buff this would be it, because at this point it feels like there was an office-wide competition to design the most incongruent and non-functional kit in the game and it unfortunately got slapped on one of the coolest and most likeable characters (personality and appearance-wise, at least), just completely bricking her.

I don't think that's the case my guess is they didn't have enough time to build her kit properly and the when the test bata opened, people starting to point out the flaws and her kit and it became very a big problem. Everyone was talking about it so when the version update special program, they decided at the final minute they going to put her on the permanent banner to quiet down the outrage from the fandom. Which is really sucks because many people like her personally and it's a shame she came out that way😕
Just pointing out a couple things:
You can use units like Mona and even Nilou to vape more consistently. The others don’t work because it’s not a form shift it’s just an extended burst animation,
Her ult doesn’t destroy her field, it reabsorbs it and will restore it on completion of the ult,
Her strongest utility is probably that golden whatever passive that makes you completely unstaggerable for its duration(even though the field is 12 seconds but the passive duration is 9 like wtf), and she also gets this passive when she ults so you’re not getting interrupted in it.
I’m pretty sure she was supposed to be a good pyro reapplier/tank hybrid. She’s useful in filling out pyro resonance and making the active character unstaggerable without the possibility of a shield breaking from the level of damage
Not saying all this to defend her or be an ass(I really like your videos, don’t hate me), just noticed a couple discrepancies in what you were saying.
I’ve been maining Denys ever since I got her instead of yoimiya, and honestly even though she doesn’t hit very hard, I have almost 100% dragon spine and she’s kept my team alive in so many instances that they would have died
I remember when we all thought she'd be like a Burgeon/Burning Nilou. We really live in the darkest timeline.
The retaliation mechanic is a great idea. Could be implemented into an artifact set maybe?
There was an interview with a dev that got posted on the Genshin Impact Leaks subreddit back during Dehya's beta where they said that was the original plan for Dehya but they couldn't implement it right so they gave up.
I pulled for her and spent money. I just didn't care. I wanted her since the initial Sumeru trailer. I've never been one to keep to a meta if it's a unit whose design I enjoy.
I've got her at c1 with beacon of the Reed Sea and teamed up with mona, she does pretty good at larger single-target bosses in the Abyss. Granted I had to put a lot more work into her then say, Diluc, but I'm a contrarian and rather play as Dehya than Hu Tao
Every unit in this game works if you're hardcore enough. But she's simply not enjoyable thats all
@@HoaNguyen-bu6zf No, she's enjoyable. If she wasn't, I definitely wouldn't be, not only using her, but considering myself a Dehya (and Eula, not abandoning her) main. She'd be sidelined as fast as I did Candace. Her numbers, though, are very lackluster, and the issues with her kit are many.

I play dehya for the movement speed during the day, because I don't have rosaria. 15% extra movement speed while grabbing oculus, and exploring is required because movement speed in genshin is just so slow. Even if dehya didn't have any use at all, I'd still use it for the movement speed.
I can't be the only one who had hoped Dehya would have speciflized in burning and burgeon, the pattern seemed that the Sumeru 5 stars, except Wanderer, would play around the dendro reaction. Tighnari and Alhaitham focus on spread for direct dendro damage, Cyno on aggravate and hyperbloom, Nilou or bloom and Nahida on all dendro reactions being the archon. With the pattern is would have made sense for Dehya to focus on boosting the damage of burning and burgeon, even her skill is called molten, you know lava related to why not focus on damage over time?
Either that or focus on her tanking and increase the damage of her skill and burst as she takes damage but they didn't go that way either. In a way Dehya is similar to Xinyan where they didn't know what direction to go with her kit. Being split into either being a pseudo main dps and being an off field dps but not doing well at either.
It's also noticeable in her test run and the trial version kit with how they want her to be presented. In her trial they wanted Dehya to be like Raiden, setting up for off field damage then coming in to use the burst before rotating back through the team. She had lots of attack and HP along with her signature weapon and yet her damage wasn't much lower that what everyone expected, granted that's also the community raising the bar way to high for all future characters but I digress. In her kit for the vibro crystals, she was focused on HP and being an off field support all the way even with the Bell.
If they just let her burst consistently proc vaporize with Yelan and Xingqui she would be a decent unit that’s at least on par with Diluc imo

The spending in the Cyno/Dehya era is likely heavily favored towards Cyno's banner, since by then it was already leaked if not publicly announced that Dehya would be included in standard after the patch.
she's pretty much a solo tank-bruiser.
In a MMO or single character combat, she'd be one of the best.
but sadly genshin has 4 character slots and has no need for selfish bruisers
