5:18 'bonebroth will not pull you out of autophagy" this is the best Christmas message you could have ever given me. My loose skin in the pelvic area is my only concern and I am using Redifining Strength and Cali movement as my inspirational teachers for that. Since end of Jan 2021 I am down 6 belt notches.

Thank you for confirming this! My fasting snack has always been my morning keto coffee which runs about 150 cal. It really helps to extend my fasting period easily to 18 and 20 hours without being on edge. My next choice would be an egg. I can eat two or three eggs in the morning and go for hours or even the rest of the day without cravings.

Thanks Mindy. Great vid. Yes! From my experience, a small snack will not kick you out of a fast or ketosis. And it will not raise your BS. I wear a CGM and the proof is right there in real time. All the "clean" fasting dogma out there is pure bunk. You don't need to restrict to black coffee, plain tea and water. I have half-n-half cream in my coffee every morning and there is zero impact on my BS. Same with a hb egg, 1/2 avocado, 1T nut butter, etc. In fact, I find ANY reasonably healthy small snack is fine (obviously not a sugar cookie or skittles).... as long as it's just a bite or two. I had 2 pieces of sushi the other day and there was zero impact on my BS. Not even a blip.

Interesting, because my sugars did kick (long term diabetic, so getting rid of a lot of sugar). A few nuts seem to work, and meds should not be on empty stomach.

Love this comment! I resonate with it so much. I can fast for 7+ days with the integration of fasting snacks. I combine fasting and intuitive eating so connect to my body to figure out what it needs as a small snack to maintain my fasted state. Hard boiled eggs as suggested in the video are usually my go to.

I did keto several years ago lost weight, covid hit, I'm a respiratory therapist so I was super stressed high cortisol, starting eating all the wrong crap again gained it back and inflammation came back etc. I started 2 weeks ago on your 15 day reset and wow! Starting producing ketone fast and I did use some of your fasting snack ideas for my 36hr. Worked like a charm. This is my new lifestyle forever, never going back. You have taught me diet variation and fasting variation, I didn't do that before. Love love ❤️ your teachings! I'm down like 7 pounds already.

Thank you, Dr. Mindy for all of this information. I have lost 64 lbs with Keto and IF and have maintained it for almost 5 years. I started with OMAD (23:1), and this is when I lost the majority of my weight. I do some Dry Fasting now and there, but mainly, I do 18:6 or 20:4. 😊

I'm 53 & started learning about fasting 10 months ago & been doing a Keto / Carnivore lifestyle for about 9 months with breaks. I'm down to my Jr. H.S. weight, down about 100# in over a years time. I've got about 15% BMI left to get to target.

I do 36/12 routinely, and on my fasting days, I have a cup or two of miso soup, and find it completely satisfies me. My daughter suggested I do that, because she thought 36/12 was impossibly drastic. It’s not, of course, but the miso soup is such a nice addition to my regimen!

I've used the broth to help me lengthen my fasts. My sister told me to use the bone broth when I started. I've found by accident while fasting I took your one suggestion to break with a spoon of nut butter, doesn't pull me out of ketosis or bump my blood sugar. And just because I've snatched a boiled egg before I started cooking dinner after a 20 hour fast, Ive noticed the same, when I don't want to wait for dinner to cook.
Thanks for this video. So far I'm down just over 30 lbs and my blood sugars have gone from consistenly over 100 in the morning, to being 88 first thing now. THanks for all of your info!

    As initially I wasn’t a fan a
Of bulletproof coffee, 1-2 tsp cold butter helped me to prolong my fast 6-8 extra hours when I started going over 18 hours, or moments where I was serving lunch or dinner to my kids and not breaking my fast that night. It was a game changer.

I have just experimented this theory by eating two small avocados after a night fasting, my mmol after one hour dropped from 5.1 to 4.7 (I’m from the uk). Of course two avocados are too much during fasting but it means I can end a long fast with a relatively substantial amount of food and go to work and continue benefitting from fat burning. Thank you Dr. Mindy, so far I have managed one 61 hour fast and I was fine.

I’m an experienced faster but when I have a hard time sticking with my fast (the culprit typically being bc I’m feeling anxious or my throat is a little sore from not eating) I sometimes cave & have a boiled egg, a pickle, or a small handful of nuts. I was feeling guilty thinking I ruined my results but it always did help me fast longer afterwards! This is amazing news, & I’m so glad my body seemed to figure it out on its own. The more I fast, the more intuitive I feel with my physicality- in hindsight, I’m now seeing how so much of my previous eating was coming from my mental state rather than what my body was actually communicating.

Thanks again for another great video I've only been fasting for 4 weeks now and have lost a stubborn 5 lb that I was unable to lose for the last year and a half with what I thought was eating healthy and exercise. Your videos have given me a new insight on how to eat a cleaner healthier lifestyle. I'll be 65 in November and have been working on building muscle for the last 4 years due to aging saggy skin. I truly enjoyed your video on how to build muscle. The muscle tone has definitely helped fill out a lot of my loose skin. More shall be revealed. Today I tried my first 23-hour fast I had made it to 20 but never this long. I was experiencing a lot of brain fog while working and broke my fast with a half an avocado, some kefir and protein. I wished I had seen this video first I know that after the half of avocado I could have made it to 24 hours lol. My goal is to get up to 36 hours then a 48 hour fast. Knowing I can have these fasting snacks will help me achieve my goals.
After the first of the year I plan on doing the 5-day waterfest. I feel like I have discovered a new way of living as I have never felt better. I struggled with insomnia for years I am e
sleeping better I know this because I can remember my dreams lol Thank you thank you thank you!!

But I had avocado to home and I started to want it one few houars before the 24 h, I started to belive that it was better for me to do twomad. Now I understand that I can do omad! Just eating half avocado! Or a spoon of nut butter! Have a nice life.

I used to be a clean faster , cannot do that anymore; while putting that little cream in my morning coffee,

I love hearing about this. I do Bulletproof coffee in the morning. Since I learned IF through Dave Asprey it hasn't occurred to me to think of it as "fasting snack"--it's just how I start my day. I have ME/CFS and I feel the MCT-8 is critical for restoring brain health. I don't *need* it to fast--in August I did a month of strict 20/4 without it and had no issues, but my body just feels better with that morning hit of fat 🙏🤗🥰. That said, I'm gearing up for the 3-Day water fast we're doing in the Academy 💪...

The study does clarify that the "fasting snack" they used in the study was 200 kcal of mixed nuts (18g fat, 5g protein, 4g carbohydrate). I'm curious to see your video that describes how you can tell if the fasting snack keeps you in ketosis (ketogenesis?) or not as I can't eat nuts so want to experiment with other options. I found Kashi's Keto Go cereal, but 1 cup (150cal) is only 6g fat but 19g carbs and 12g protein which doesn't feel super high fat/low carb/low protein to me.

I've been "fasting" since August of 2021. I have fasting in quotes because from the beginning of August to the end of October all I did was stop consuming alcohol and sugar beverages (to include the calorie free/sugar free sweetened "diet" drinks). I lost 5 (ish) pounds doing that.
Starting November I have been alternating between OMAD and 3 day fasts. I've lost 30 pounds since November. It is the end of January when I am saying this.
That being said, I've been having weird allergic reactions to pretty much EVERYTHING... Milk, detergent, moisturizers, shampoo, conditioner, hydrogenated (insert food name here), any chemical in food, in hygiene products, in clothing items (like the cape the hairdressers use), possibly in plastic bottles of water or coffee, insect bites... My face turns bright red and/or deep purple (usually around the eyes it gets darker) and swells 3 to 4x the normal size...
So I can't stop fasting or my face gets huge. I've had to go to the hospital once over it... I'm really not sure what to do... Yea it's great that I'm dropping weight like crazy but... I'd rather not be going in and out of anaphylaxis like this. It's very scary. I probably need to go to a functional medicine doctor but they don't take insurance... So that's $300 just for the heavy metal testing...

I never thought of it as a fasting snack, but I put organic whole whipping cream (no other ingredient in it), whipped up with a touch of organic vanilla extract in my morning coffee with some MCT oil and I'm good to go up to 17-20 hrs, depending on what I'm doing that week. I don't have a glucose monitor because it creeps me out to prick my finger! so I have to rely on my Higher Self for intuitive info. I think I'm OK with that 'snack.'

This is a game changer for me. Thanks for this video. I’m going to try one egg and hopefully my fast will last longer. I’ve been doing IF since 2018 and I’ve been good (lost 80+ lbs) but i plateau around year 2020. I also eat omad 4 days a week. I hope this snacking will extend my fast over 24 hours

I’ve been fasting for about 6 years (16-18 hours), but now with menopause, nothing seems to work, I put on10% of my weight on and I’d like to get rid of it. So, I started listening to your videos and I’d really like to do the 36 hour fast, but not sure if I can. I may be able to do 24 hours, but I’ll try my best! Thank you for all the advice, and by the way, I’m trying to get my sister to fast too!

Starting with a 24-hour fast is a good approach, especially with the changes menopause brings. Listen to your body, and remember that gradual progression is key. Encouraging your sister is great - fasting can be more motivating with support! Keep up the good work.

@@DrMindyPelz thank you for the encouragement! I actually fasted for 21 hours yesterday and it went well. Could’ve kept on going but I ended up eating. Sister doesn’t think she can do it despite me sending her a dozen of your videos, 😞 typical fears like “I don’t think I can, I don’t think I it’s healthy” etc. I’m still encouraged to aim for the 36 hour fast. I’ve been binging on your videos!!!

i just started 3 days ago doing an 18 -20 hr fast (i never did get hungry during the day so it’s not hard). i eat dinner around 6 -7but don’t understand how long that window should be. one eve about 9 I was starved and ate a slice of ham with a half slice of provolone, put a slice of roasted red pepper on it & a little mustard but it was gone in 3 bites, lol so I cut up a small banana, frozen blueberries and put a little reddi whip on it and ate that for my sweet tooth ! so i guess I had about 3 - 4 hours window that I ate (but was afraid to eat any more . that and nothing else until 6 tonight but a keto cup I bought and was very good. i have a half a sub in the frig with just fresh sirloin pieces, i put some mushrooms on i cooked in bulk to have , a touch of mayo, lettuce , 1/2 piece of provolone & a big slice of roasted red pepper. i’m concerned about the bread. can I eat some bread? i miss my chips but that’s ok. i have a cup of coffee later in the morning , sometimes, but sip it all day & keep reheating , lol
But I’ not sure how much and what I can eat during the eating window. i put a truvia sweetener and lime in my water during the day and take to bed for during the night.
i understand no sugar but I don’t know what else I can eat or shouldn’t eat. i feel like I’m doing this off the cuff!
Dr Jemnatis (my cardiologist ) is also doing seminars on you tube and when I continue this for a few weeks, I will make an appt which I am due for anyway!
when u say eating window, do u mean i can eat (the right things) from 6-9 if I want? gail

Once your body is conditioned to the 72Hr, the 120Hr will not seem so daunting. I have done it twice, but honestly for some reason the 2nd one was tougher than the first. Currently 22hr in on my 3rd one. It starts to be more mental than physical, when you realize that, it becomes easier..

I've "broke fast" in the evening with a boiled egg & avocado with nutritional yeast & olive oil. I shed 4# overnight 2 separate times, regardless. But if I eat after 8, I HALT any progress I was making. I had that snack @ 48 hrs on a 96 hr fast..... or I did 2 consecutive 48 hrs...

I've been in menopause for 7 years and about 5kg overweight, which I have struggled now for 4 years to lose. Impossible! But since fasting my weight has dropped so quickly, I am utterly amazed. Menopause does not have to be a 'death' sentence for weight loss. It is really true that less snacking is making all the difference. No I can have a feast day once a week and get back to fasting for the rest of the week. I play between 14 and 17-hour fasts.
