So... which one is your favorite?
Coral Tooth
Peach definitely! Looks like a brain kind of.
Chicken of the woods...my wife, my youngest daughter, and I found 10 lbs yesterday by our house!!! I had to stick my hand down in an abandoned coyote cave to grab a really big one.
Much love from the PNW!!!
!!!HONEY MUSHROOMS!!!
Fantastic content!
Thank You!
You
Mush love from Namibia. You’ve inspired me to try my hand at growing mushrooms and maybe one day I might even start my own business.
The house I just moved in has an abundance of mushrooms I have never seen before. So far the coolest one is the coral type mushrooms hanging out by my shed
amazing! some of those coral mushrooms are SUPER cool- really look like something that should be 🎵 under the sea 🎵
@@FreshCapMushrooms And you can even get some crazy coral-looking "fruits" from species that normally don't look coral-like. Just had some funky coral mycelium on a brown oyster agar plate that fruited in vitro.
Thank you for all the great videos. About a year ago, your pf tek video is what I used to get into Mycology. Now I have a room full of monotubs and an entire closet full of jars.
thanks for watching! all the best in your mushroom journey :)
"Mushroom smells like maple syrup"
Me: Wow that's so cool
Also me: don't know how a maple syrup smells like
haha, maybe it's a Canadian thing?
I think I found some Black Tooth Fungus lest weekend in Washington. That's a crazy looking shroomer!
I just saw some massive puffballs this past weekend in kananaskis. Cool that you just covered them here.
Very cool! mountain sized puffballs in the mountains :0
What crazy quality. I really can’t wait to see where you guys end up.
wow thanks! big things on the way :)
Thank you Tony!
I’ve been learning and hunting for the past 6 months, I’ve found all of the ones you mentioned. Me best finds, a few 10lb patches of mud puppies, tooo many lions manes, California black trumpets, few ounces of dried candy caps, whole hillside of coral mushrooms. I have yet to find any morels but that’s my next target 🎯
thankyou for making this video, looking for more foraging and wild mushroom videos, please keep making! :))
thank you for watchin!
LOVE the mushroom cap pillows!!
hahah yes!
loved the video, thank you so much!!
AWESOME Man!
I hated mushrooms until 6 months ago, then I tried making them a certain way, loved it, and now mushrooms are all over my UA-cam page
welcome to the world of mushrooms HAPPY TO HAVE YOU HERE :)
wow, this was so good and informative!
thank you!
Awesome Intro!!!
woot woot! thank you :)
This is super interesting. I've always liked mushrooms and right now I'm hobby-studying mycology. I'm definitely going into the woods In the coming weekes
hope you find a bunch of cool stuff!!
The beginning of the video looks like a vfx with green screen. Great info and cute stuff :)🍄🍄🍄
i found some chicken of the woods growing on a log a year or so ago and my family cooked it and ate it. it actually tasted mildly like chicken and luckily none of my family got a stomach ache :)) would recommend 👍
Seeked out 😂 very informative nonetheless!
Very cool. At what point do you become comfortable enough identifying these, where you go out foraging for them? Seems like I learn of new ones all the time and it’s pretty scary considering there are so many that look similar to edible mushrooms but end up being poisonous or ones that can make you sick.
always good to be cautious! just something you get more comfortable with over time, and to be honest it really depends on your area. I am pretty familiar with the mushrooms in my area that are good- also, most of the time I just look and take pics, not very often do I actually harvest and eat. have fun and stay safe out there!
lol favorite ..yeah right ....love all of em too mush
too MUSH haha nice one
Maşallah...
And my favorite is the crown tipped coral
Yes, it is a cool one!
Can you take cuttings from wild rare mushrooms and make agar plates for clones later?
The only reason I miss living in Ohio is morel mushrooms. My brother found a puff ball once in our woods. Quite a bit bigger than a softball, I believe. It was delish!
OOOO morels are great! thanks for sharing :)
Paul Stamets has a tutorial on preparing chicken of the woods for consumption and he goes over how to consume it safely. He says it taste like actual chicken, and he marinated it in olive oil and Teriyaki sauce. The key to consuming it safely, is to only harvest fresh and only harvest the outer 2 inches of the fungi, never harvest mushy chicken of the woods, and always cook it thoroughly and as soon as possible after harvesting.🍄👀 (check out his vid, he goes in to more detail about the safety to avoid stomach irritation.)
I like agarikon the most, but I like a variety of polypores. Reishi, turkey tail, red belt polypore, and artist conk.
agarikon is toooo cool!
@@FreshCapMushrooms I ordered a petri dish so I can try it. I understand it takes a long time but I'll be happy just to harvest it's primordia
THAT FUCKING INTRO! AMAZING!! ♥️♥️🍄🍄
Do you think an oyster (or other edibles) would grow indoors in winter? I keep it around 60. Or what would be the lowest temperature you would attempt?
Oysters can definitely grow at that temperature, try Blue Oyster! Or if you want another species, try Lion's Mane (Hericium erinaceus) they grow great in cooler weather
Awesome vid man, for strange shroom i remember having an odd gray cap growing overnight and turned to black powder the following days, forgot what it is but i took a picture and used google lens for identification
oooo, could it have been an inky cap??
@@FreshCapMushrooms oh yeah i vaguely remember it was (maybe) a harefoot inkcap, with the top being more pale grey and serrated
I believe there are many many people that eat the chicken of the woods mushroom also turkey tail mushrooms turkey tail mushrooms have known to help you get over sicknesses sooner and a boost your body a little bit
Had a Puffball growing beside a pot plant. It was the size of a softball when i found it. I asked my dad if he wanted me to pick it. He said wait for a bit first so it gets bigger. We forgot about it lol.
That Amanita egg was shockingly uniform on the inside. Usually I can see the outline of a mushroom, but that was *very* puffball-ish.
What the heck? been following your channel for ages but only now found out you're Albertan? I wonder if I knew that...haha...So, would you know if there's any sort of maps or anything that will show where it's legal to go foraging in the province? From Edmonton it feels like I'd need to drive for a day to get anywhere that it might be allowed but surely that's not the case, is it? Thanks!
Best bet would be to check with the mycological society, they might have some spots that they use for forays etc. Other than that it is just a LOT of exploring outside of the city to see what you can find :) good place is to start at provincial recreation areas, or places in the foothills where people often hunt for deer/elk etc.
When I was a kid we found a puffball that was massive. Had to be at least 12” across. No one knew if it was safe to eat so my cousins and I had a blast throwing it around until it hit the ground and fell apart
👍👍👍
👍👍👍
Can you tell me what kind of knife that was at 4;19
Yup! It is an Opinel No.08 Stainless Steel Mushroom Knife - Beech
Can you tell me how long is the incubation time of Ganoderma? . I use google translate
I had puffball just some days agoo, sliced it into 1-2 cm slices and fried them with butter, garlic and rosemery. Evem tho the taste of the mushroom itself wasnt that impressive, it really soaked up the flavours of the spices making it delicius
Me and my older brother found a 5 kg puff ball like 3 days ago was massive haha
Hot and fast video with many interesting species! :)
coming at ya fast! 20 more to go this month haha
How does the mycelium of lions mane looks?
You forgot Sparassis Crispa, it looks like a waxy sponge, is hard to clean, pretty rare and super delicious!
Oh, good call- maybe I should add it to the next one!
Why do you like growing reishi so much?
Tony i got a purple mushroom i found in some southern alberta parks that i cant identify, can i send you pictures? Also can i like travel north and work for you? I would love to learn more about mycology and have a career in it perhaps
Sure, send pics would love to see! Although, don't feel confident identifying over pics lol.
As for work- we sometimes have openings posted on the careers section of the site be sure to check it out from time to time and see if there is anything that applies to you :)
Lion's Mane is endangered and not for picking in Sweden. I'm going to do my part and go out in old growth forests with a drill and mycelium plugs.
whoa, I did not know that! good thing it is easy peasy to grow :)
Why is it endangered?
@@hankrearden20 Not sure but maybe it's a combination of being picked too much and habitat decimation.
@@SonofTheMorningStar666 Yeah I've heard there's several places in europe it's illegal to pick
🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄
Birch polypore when? Lol expected it to be mentioned here
ooohhhhh, ok you got me. I'll add it before the end of the month!
You r really a fungi❣🥰 thanks yor this❣❣
Edit to add: for not yor, 🤦♀️.
haha, thanks for watching!
i saw mushroom that was white and fluffy
Thank u sir. I am your big fan. I am from asia(Bangladesh). I am a student of soil science. I also a mushroom farmer.i wanna contact with u. How i do that?
I love your videos, I just now realized where you're located (Canada)so many you mention in all your videos can't be grown here in Florida USA, we have puff balls that pop up in the fall, but really never see them till they are the size of a golf ball and brown with spores, usually found under live oak trees...they are fun to kick around in my yard with every bounce the send out a large puff of spores
I found chicken of the woods in florida about 4 weeks ago! It was amazing to see it growing there in the hot hot heat. Florida you might have a good time growing Reishi :)
@@FreshCapMushrooms
Thanks for the ❤️
Hope you liked Florida 😊
Yes, I had chicken of the woods growing on my declining pecan tree, it was incredibly interesting to watch it grow!
This was before I caught the fungus fever just a few weeks ago, I spend an hour or so every evening on a few videos looking for ideas on my new learning journey.
Thanks for the tip on suggesting Reishi but the Lions mane is so interesting and probably zone wise out of reach.
@@patriciatoomingtheplantpar2558 Florida was indeed awesome! As for Lion's Mane, might be worth a try in the fall, they are more tolerant then you might expect! Good luck in your mushroom journey :)
nice video
#mushrooms_bazaar
thank you!
Your second picture of the COW looked like Cincinnatus to me and not sulfurous.
Oh.. I thought this was going to be about something else lol.😂 me bad
I hope Pseudohydnum gelatinosum makes the list
had to look that one up.... cool!
@@FreshCapMushrooms boil them on lowest heat in agar + candy flavour of your choice for 20 to 30 mins & let cool on wax paper.
they have no real taste of their own & its a great way to feed mushrooms to children who won't eat mushrooms :)
they are just like mushroom gummies on there own or flavoured.
I am cloning some, let me know if you want a plate. (I am in Ontario)
i also make plugs of all types of local mushrooms and help colonize woodlands in my area using the cloned local mushrooms found in that area.
I have found that all types of life are not as abundant as they used to be.
And.....Tremella mesenterica
Soo big...
Scutiger Pes Caprae?
had to look that one up! not too familiar with it, but I will learn more :)
I found a reishi mushrooms
amazing find!
The first 5 seconds of the video I thought he was walking in front of a green screen.
haha, nope that was the REAL forest ;)
That picture of maitake doesn't look like any maitake I've ever seen
I'm in Alberta and no mushrooms anywhere. Hope it doesn't keep up like this next year
Chicken of the woods should be cooked
Bla bla bla bla bla 😖😖😖😖😖
