This is wonderful to hear! It's a really great arrangement of 'Long As You're Living Yours, first recorded by Keith Jarrett with his European quarter in 1974 for their ECM release Belonging. It's notable also for being the reason that Jarrett has a writing credit on Steely Dan's Gaucho - a friend played him the track one day after it's release and they knew instantly Fagen and Becker had bit on the whole conception and leveraged their own tune out of it. Jarrett sued and I don't think it needed to go to a judge before it was settled. Anyway, stellar arrangement - I love the form and changes you guys apply to make it interesting and current, to give great backing for the different soloists and their individual strengths. And, of course, killer drum solo! The one on the album is super nasty and it took me two hours tonight to transcribe it. With tomorrow off, I will now learn to play it. Thanks to Steve for this great music.
@@oli77sch You we’re right. Contacted Jack at May Bros. He thinks it’s a walnut shell in this case but sent me a clip of poplar/mahogany shell which sounded superb. Really helpful guy and a good company. I’m seriously considering buying one!
Oh I really enjoyed this!!! It all sounds so laid back, effortless, flawless, super with ao the ghost notes. Love it. Just a confession on my part... I had not been aware of you until I saw the Loggins & Messina Sittin'In Again (2005) concert! Apart from the fact that I remembered L&M's repertoire from my early teenage years back in 1971 and found that concert such a blessing to find, I got so totally hooked on playing the concert over and over so many times because of your drumming!
Exactly everything I hate about jazz. Brilliant musicians playing music that doesn't go anywhere and serves mostly to showcase individual members talents I found you as the Floyd drummer at Gdansk. The difference with Floyd, what makes them so great is that they can take the music somewhere so that it's so much more than the sum of its parts. Good drumming though.
Encore un Stevie.D magistral. 🤩🤩🤩
Great laid back groove. Essence of Gaucho
Some really creative grooves going on there! A very enjoyable video. I love all your performances with David Gilmour as well!

Nice theme. Sounds similar to Steely Dan´s Gaucho 😊
Good ,very good
This is exactly how drums should sound
Any idea what the snare is? Don’t recognize the lugs. Looks like wood shell 14x5”
@@tommo3378 Mayer Bros. I would say: the oval logo, Trick GS007 strainer, the lugs ... 99% sure. Mahogany maybe?
@@oli77sch Almost certainly correct. I’ve requested a price/availability list. Do you know any more? P.s. thanks
@@tommo3378 no, I discovered it by chance
