@MCCALA7 Probably tell them to not shout down the ones speaking love to others? He would also cast the demon out of them. Youd know that if you actually read the bible. Repent. Jesus loves you but that doesnt mean he will tolerate sin.
@henrikborkchristensen7949 it is a possibility. I'm open to hearing every side and I'm a hardcore centrist. But for whatever reason when really liberal people are involved they just don't seem to want a conversation. When they start hearing calm, logical arguments they freak the f out and just start barking or screaming. How can they ever get their point across if they don't even have a cogent argument?

Bravo to John Lennox, who is such a brilliant scientific mathematician, yet is able to speak so powerfully and assuredly without a doubt about true belief in God!🖐🏽
Seriously? Brilliant? Obviously not, don't let the, "Oxford Mathematician", fool you, it is used in attempt to make their laughable argument seem plausible. Lennox gives no proof that alleged gods exist, nothing, zilch! Why would that be then? Not as clever as he would want us to believe, Christopher Hitchens ran rings around this fool!
@@terryschofield1922 No matter how much information and credible evidence people can give you about God , you will never believe that Jesus is Lord. 2 Corinthians 4:4 4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. I will be praying for you :3.
I’ve watched this video a few times, and while John Lennox makes some interesting points, I don’t think the title matches what’s in the video. He doesn’t actually "destroy" atheism or prove that God exists. Instead, Lennox talks about why he believes in God and argues that faith can go hand-in-hand with science. The title seems like it’s just there to grab attention. If you’re expecting solid proof against atheism, you might not find it here. But the video is still worth watching if you want to hear a thoughtful take on how science and belief in God can work together.
God destoys Atheist, anyone with common sense can see that everything was created because something has never come from nothing. Give me evidence that you have seen something in your lifetime that came from nothing. Want evidence of creation look at anything you can see and it had to be made because it had a beginning.
@@robertrlkatz6890 I see where you’re coming from, but sometimes “common sense” can miss the bigger picture. The idea that “something has never come from nothing” is a longstanding philosophical debate, but it’s important to remember that just because we don’t fully understand the origins of the universe, that doesn’t automatically prove the existence of a divine creator. This is an example of an argument from ignorance-concluding that God must exist simply because we lack a complete explanation for how the universe began. Also, when you say “God destroys atheism,” it’s worth asking-how exactly is that happening? As an atheist, I’m still here in the discussion, so it seems like the “destruction” hasn’t exactly taken place. My main point was just that the video’s title doesn’t match what John Lennox actually talks about. I think it’s valuable for all of us to stay open to different perspectives and not just rely on what seems obvious at first glance.
The proof is rational deduction not empirical evidence. Life the MBR that he mentioned. That demands an explanation. As Aquinas and Al Ghazali pointed out... Everything that begins has a beginner.
He does not attack atheists or even atheism but rather gives a solid basis for his faith as a scientist. I appreciate the respectful but unapologetic approach.
So, God made himself from nothing, then made something, and everything originated from nothing. If you believe God as the most powerful and intelligent being came from nothing, then you believe in evolution.
He provides no basis and no evidence. He asserts that A, he sees a question that no one can answer (what came before the big bang) and then B, he inserts God as the answer. That's not evidence but like most people of faith, he states that Atheists believe "something came from nothing" is an obtuse mischaracterization that apologists foolishly use as some kind of "proof".
I have 3 college degrees with a 4.0 in grad school and have done evangelism on the college campus for over 36 years and i have shared Christ with people of every religion and even PHD professors and i can tell you most people are still very open to the gospel even after decades of these universities trying to destroy God , they have failed completely from my experience
Many intelligent people are open to the possibility of an external force being responsible for the universe and our reality, but that's really not the same as being open to religious beliefs which are functions of imagination. People are not trying to destroy God, but foolish religious beliefs that are easy to disprove. It's worrying how seemingly intelligent people cling to primitive beliefs rather than embrace the truth; if there is a god he exists outside of the universe and does not interfere with it, and so there will never be any observable evidence of his existence! It's hard for many people to accept that the earth wasn't created for us, and that our existence is using and properly inconsequential.
What a load of fast talking tosh from our supposedly esteemed professor of maths! He sounds so clever by talking so fast that few have time to see the nonsense! He actually uses his faith / belief to prove a god for Pete's sake! Atheism stands up and god still ain't there! He does not seem to realise his argument is a complete farce! He obviously has never read the whole bible as I have. I am with @TotalSkeptic below I must add that his closing comments on Jesus are stupid; Jesus is either a liar or deluded. Three of the gospels quote him saying he will be back before many of those listening to him will still be alive! The second coming didn't come and won't! Christians don't seem to realise the insanity and cruelty of Jesus, his mother did (Just read the gospels completely for the absurdity of it all). As for being our saviour; he is supposedly saving us from the original sin of Adam and Eve who were just made up like all of the Old Testament. There are two Adam and Eve stories which contradict each other. Finally, nobody who wrote the words of the New Testament ever met him!
Universities aren't destroying god. They're simply sharing our collective human knowledge, and it appears there are many gods who have better evidence for their existence than the Abrahamic religions. That's all and if you are as educated as you claim, try critically thinking about it. You're faith probably prevents it though
To save people 15 minutes, he basically said to things. 1. My friend or famous scientist said this , therefore God. 2. This thing or process is complicated or we don't know how it functions and therefore God . Basically argument from authority and ignorance ... Entire 15 minutes
Many people with Science degrees are also members of churches. Many are non-religious. The psychology of belief is somewhat different to logical proofs. Aristotle suggested humans often lack the patience or skills to follow logical proofs but respond more to emotional or simplistic arguments. I personally like to apply science to discover the true nature of things including any godlike entities that may exist. People have many ideas about what God may be like but these ideas often differ. Can anyone be sure that the God they perceive is any more valid than the different ideas of God others are equally certain about. Science likewise can point to different ideas about the personality of God or nature of things. Popper's Scientific Method assumes that any ideas are conjectures we can amend with future evidence. As to the reality of any particular gods described in religious texts, there is simply not enough evidence to know such beings are real.

A bad title, but an excellent talk. Dr. Leenox provided arguments against atheism but in a respectful way. He is pointing to the signs of intelligent design, he is hinting at the profound literary nature of scripture, not it's profound literalism. He is hinting at the creation account not being a literal account of *how* the universe was created, but the literary *home* story of why the creator made it and our relationship to him. He is asking great questions and encouraging us the listener student to be curious and go in search of answers. In doing so you will likely discover that God was pursuing and discovering you, not you who was searching out God. Fabulous and will listen again.
A touching thought. God is pursuing me. Wow. Too bad that such a sentiment is nothing more than an appeal to our emotions. Intelligent people need more than the warm fuzzies in order to believe in the ridiculous.

What came before the Big Bang? "Let there be light!" BTW, I'm comforted by my belief in God and the afterlife, especially because I see so much suffering and cruelty in the world. I applauded with the audience after listening to John Lennox's brilliant speech.
Yes, God really loves us. That's why God allows so much suffering and cruelty in the world, as you say. But, just as a thought, what if God doesn't give a crap about us and allows all the pain and suffering just to be amused by how we react to the pain and suffering, sort of like watching people being slaughtered in SIMULATED REALITY games like Call of Duty or Grand Theft Auto.
But what about the future? We easily forget that this is not the final state of the universe, the earth will not exist forever and neither will humans. Why does God want to wipe out everything he created?
One of the most rewarding features of the University of Oxford is that these arguments are still discussed regardless of what faculty and which college is your home. Indeed one of my most precious memories of reading biophysics at that university is the seminar on whether God is explanative. With sound logical reasoning agnostics and even atheists would have to concede that even from the most pessimistic starting assumption (“God does not exist”) we could reach a higher than 50% probability that God _does_ exist. That should be a comfort to people with doubt in their hearts that placing faith in something beyond our limited comprehension is not a fools errand.

Honestly, this isn't a great talk. Most of this speech boils down to "I think God is the best explanation for some things that don't have definite explanations". That's not evidence or a proof of God. In fact, that's just just the God of the Gaps. I was expecting something NEW based on the title. There was nothing new in this video. But lets ask how he even knows about God? Some human told him. Belief in God is the worlds longest and oldest game of telephone. And of course, the ultimate irony here is that he criticizes the big bang theory as recursive ("X therefore X") and so not a good theory. This criticism of X therefore X is painfully ironic since the major theme of everything he says is exactly X therefore X Look at what he really says: "1. If things are complicated, God must be the reason. 2. Some things are complicated. 3. therefore, god exists." That's literally X therefore X. This is 16 minutes of a guy saying "I believe the Bible." Okay man, lots of people believe the Bible. He believes it for the same reason as anyone else. He was born into it and/or it resonated with him and/or he is uncomfortable with uncertainty. Doesn't make the Bible correct, doesn't make God real. Saying it for 16 minutes doesn't prove anything. There is nothing insightful here.
Why is it that theists who claim that "god is the best explanation" for something don't understand that a proposed being for which there is no evidence of its existance, cannot be the best explanation for anything. Existance is a necessary feature for something even being a potential explanation, let alone the best explanation. Until the existance of some hypoothesised being is reasonably established, that hypothesised being isn't even a candidate to explain anything.
Thanks, much more eloquently put than my attempt. Guess it will be a long time before we can overcome thousands of years of religion's practice of brainwashing. Theses same believers would scoff at modern day cults while failing to recognise that the "major" religions are just older versions.

he clearly logically showed the paradox of atheism saying science pursuit the truth and by coincidence discovering physical and mathematical laws describing perfectly the universe starting from a postition humans are motivated only by survivor instincts then evolution based on surviving cannot produce science pursuing the truth because for each person surviving principles are different. It's a bit subtle and you need a logically trained mind to understand it. Dawkins red in his face during the whole speech got it perfectly and knew he couldn't logically argue that.
@@margotmargot4426 Unfortunately, this is a terrible argument and there is an easy way to logically argue against it. Evolution favors traits that allow species to reproduce and pass down their genes. For us, these traits include pattern recognition, abstract thinking, memory, etc. Our excellent memory and pattern recognition allows us to avoid circumstances of danger that we might have already experienced. Abstract thinking allows us to come up with responses to fictitious scenarios, and those prepare us for real life dangers. Then, these traits bloom over the course of millions of years, culminating with Homo sapiens. You see? It's perfectly reasonable for us to have evolved to rationally analyze the world. It's a trait that is favorable for natural selection. Then, science and pursuing the truth follow naturally from our language, communication, observations, and analysis.

Certainly because I feel that the power of love and the mind still could need more research.
_"But people are now so desperate to show that the universe created itself from nothing ...."_ (at 2:50). Do atheists believe the universe created itself from nothing? Or do they claim that we don't know what the universe was created from? It's okay to say, "We don't know that (yet)." We don't need to make up a supernatural explanation for things we don't yet understand. It's like all the mythologies created to explain why the Sun and Moon travel across the sky.
Prior to the Big Bang they believed it was eternal lol but to answer your question - yes, they do believe that. They won’t explicitly say it, but this is what you get from what they believe after they explain it
And that is through science and knowledge gained. Evolution through natural selection. ('Knowledge' doesn't have faith anywhere near it; not even at far distance. How could it? Faith is the dark. The dark is the absence of light. The dark is not a thing of existence.

I totally agree that there is a creator of the universe! And what really brought it home for me was when I was studying human anatomy and physiology and cytology. There is an intelligence behind all the systems in the body, and I was in awe of it, still am. My question to myself at the time, was how can this beautifully crafted system that works so amazingly together be anything less than originating from some kind of universal intelligence. How can the Universe and the systematic laws it functions under be just random and coincidence. It doesn't make any sense.
@LouisPerez-i7r indeed, and with all the new research on human consciousness, there is a blooming amount of evidence leading almost no doubt that there is definitely something beyond this physical realm
That's because there is no proof. And even if there was proof, it'd practically be meaningless. Being Christian is based on having faith in God based on the arguments God presents you. If you only follow God because of evidence and not because of faith, the meaning of God gets lost. God will become just like a boss at work, telling you what to do and what not to do. Faith incites that you trust God in a way that allows you to form a deep relationship with him. Without this relationship, people will do whatever they want, God will lose his authority and power because he is forced to come down to the level of 'mere humans' (Just like Jesus did for us) The entire puppet theatre of trying to prove God is therefore meaningless, because proof does not equal faith and trust. Proof only provides a truth that God exists but doesn't necessarily make people listen to God. (Just like how people don't tend to listen to their parents, teachers, etc. because they don't want someone to have authority over them)
@Adepth7 the universe cannot create itself, newtons laws. A supernatural force must have started the motion of the universe. Whether it's a simulation or not there must be definition be a creator as it is impossible for the universe to start how we have observed it to start without a supernatural explanation

You want evidence and yet you falsify the fact that all he did was quote the bible. He didn't quote it once!! Please, tell me more about this 'proof' that you speak of :/
I can prove God exists.. The painting is proof of the painter The building is proof of the builder Creation is proof of the Creator Romans 1:19-20 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath showed it unto them 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead so that they are without excuse. God gave us a conscience and that means (with knowledge) we know right and wrong as God put His laws in our hearts, We know its wrong to lie, cheat and steal but we do it anyway and after we die God will judge us by His law the 10 commandments which we can't escape because as I said God has written these laws in our hearts, Thou shalt not lie Thou shalt not steal Thou shalt not commit adultery Thou shalt not kill Thou shalt not covet Thats just 5 of them but how many times have you broken each commandment? Jesus said if you look with lust you commit adultery in your heart! the bible also says that to hate your brother makes you a murderer, everyone will have to give an account of themselves in the day of judgment, after you die you are judged and if you die in your sins you will go to hell forever but God dosent want to give you justice rather He wants to forgive you but God is a righteous judge and he will by no means look past your sins, so someone must pay for them, well 2000 years ago God was manifest in the flesh as Jesus Christ the Son of God and he died on the cross for our sins and was buried and rose again the third day and He is alive right now and will be forever, and if you put your faith in what He did, God will forgive you of all your sins and give you the Holy Spirit which will clean up your life, you will have supernatural power over sin. We broke Gods law and Jesus Christ paid our fine on the cross, the last 3 words Jesus said were, IT IS FINISHED, which means the debt is paid in full!! AMAZING! we don't have to pay for our sins!! we don't have to go to hell, hell wasn't created for man but for the devil and his angels but if we follow Satan we go where he is going. Buy a King James bible and read it, start in the new testament and God will reveal Himself to you as he has revealed Himself to me, most people will reject salvation because men love darkness rather than light and that is why many people can't find God, they don't want God they want to keep their sin and they are deceived not realising that God has something much better for you.
@@Morgan-r8g I once thought that people who believed in God were stupid, that was until I almost died, or I was dying slowly with heart failure and I started having what i thought was sleep apnea, night after night I kept on waking up realising that I wasn't breathing, long story short, I woke up and at the foot of my bed standing at the door was an 8 foot devil or demon and this thing would have killed me, if I hadn't known who Jesus is, Jesus said in Luke 10, I give you power over all the enemy and nothing shall by any means harm you, I have the Holy Spirit in me and this massive demon couldn't take my life because of how powerful the Lord Jesus is, after that happened I remember thinking to myself about how this big demon would terrify anyone and yet this thing is afraid of the Lord Jesus and mankind isn't!, people use Jesus name in vain which is very foolish to say the least as only He can save our souls from hell, which is a real place, I pray God will allow you to see a big demon and when you see and are terrified call upon the name of the Lord Jesus and He will save you!
Did Mr. Dawkins ended up understanding the world thanks to his anti religious views? In its entirety? Or any other human mind that ever lived? Is that humanly possible? I don't think so. At least a religious life might led you to a meaningful experience in all the many aspects of life that are out there for us to understand. @@gingebrien2408 Someone once calculated ( need to dig this up ) that for ALL the millions of ‘things’ that had to align to create life, from the temporal positions of the earth to the perfect distance of the earth from the sun, the probability of all these aligning is, as you understand, incredibly small. So small that from the mathematical perspective, it’s ZERO.
@@malakai0076if God chose such a complex way of creating us, going through the pain of creating many galaxies, and within each many planetary systems, and within one of them, the perfect conditions for life to emerge, but then needing a few billion years to reach the creation of mankind, and having this mankind being such a group of fools never respecting what god wants, then God was at least very incompetent, or simply just foolish. If he was omnipotent why create such a mess ? And then why let humans risk destroying themselves ?
@@albertlevert2988 Yes have had such questions by so many. If you are genuinely ready to listen then I will do my best to explain. First of all God created time. To God time is but a line. God is at the beginning of time as well as at the end of time. He is above time. So the billions of years to God is not even a millisecond. Many in mankind are fools that have refused to believe in the One who created them. But many have and do. There is no mess. There are issues but those issues are caused by mankind. If God wanted to intervene He can and sometimes He has. However He has let mankind deal with the issue by themselves hopefully thru His laws ( that are defined to. avoid the mess ). Whether we do or we dont, He will judge not now but on the Day of Judgement which he has warned mankind of. Now my close friend Hans says "If God wanted to he could have easily feed those dying in Africa" and the likes. OK lets follow this line. So God intervenes to help the starving Africans. Wow,wait. If God can help them, God can also help me find a good job rather than sweeping the floor. God finds me a good job. Wow, if God can help me find a good job, God can also make me win the lottery. ......it will go on until there is NO REASON for God to have created us in the first place. in the Quran Allah (SWT) says "We created man and jinns to worship Him"(Q) while in another place it says "And Allah is not in need of ANY of His creation...He is free of all needs"(Q). Hope this make some sense. I am scientist and I also believe in God. Just take DNA....how complex it is....the blue print of life. No software, not even AI based models can come anywhere near the complexity of DNA.
It’s strange to me to use rationality as the basis for a defence of faith. In actual fact Lennox’s argument is “common sensism”; the type we so easily accept if we don’t interrogate it further. Essentially his argument is there must be an agentic designer/supreme being; we can only say x made y, not y made y. But this begs the question, where did x come from? Are we not then back at the proposal of x made x, or x always was (faith), which is hardly rational at all-the basis of his argument. I’m not necessarily defending empiricism, that physical, observable evidence (atoms, molecules) trumps all. However, since Lennox claims rationality as the basis of his position, if we apply Occam’s Razor I would say the explanation of physics requires far less mental gymnastics than the theological one. Moreover, if we were to accept the theist position, there is a god. Which one is he? Is he a he? Anything we claim to know about said god is purely speculative, as evidenced by the plethora of religions humanity has invented over time. What is known of god/s, is entirely fabricated by humans-there is no evidence for any divine revelation inspiring scripture or teachings. There simply is no rationality to it. I assume Lennox is defending the Judeo-Christian god of his culture (had he been born elsewhere he would be referring to Allah or Krishna) and follows the tenets of the Christian Bible (the cannon agreed by a select few). He would do well to acknowledge that he has faith simply because he prefers this explanation to the scientific one. To defend it as truth, and try persuade others of this, is nonsensical.
Yeah, Christians just pretend these questions don't exist and desperately invent words and concepts making them not ask the obvious question. In other words "nothing can't exist without explanation but when it comes to my God, let's ignore it..." "everything has to have a beginning but when it comes to my God, let's ignore it..." That's as intelectualy dishonest stance as it can get. They can as well say the universe is eternal or sth and skip the incredibly unnecessary complicated middle man that creates extra issues rather than helpes
I prefer the term "Placeholder X" to "God", as "God" is weighed down with all sorts of dogma from all sorts of sources. Lennox is performing a bit of a cape-dance here. He is making some arguments for why something brought the universe into being. But he offers nothing by way of an explanation as to what that might be - as of course he can't, since nobody was around at the time. What he does by all sorts of sashaying around the argument, is to insert "God" as a given. The rickety rope-bridge from *his* conception of God (of c. vintage 2,000 years ago in Galilee) to the Placeholder he argues for, isn't one he even begins to want to cross here, and I don't blame him.
Where is the destruction? And the fact that he is a mathematician and doesn't understand the difference between probability and possibility is embarrassing. How to destroy a god believer? Simple. Ask for proof. Because in this world those making the claim are beholden to prove it. Its called the scientific method for a reason.
Logic alone proves the need for a Creator. Its an infinite regression to say created things were created by other created things.. there must be an uncreated Creator. (Which we call God)
@@lukeheffernan854 An uncreated Creator is the 'Source' which has been termed as intelliggent energy, which is similar to A.I. so, can that be the same thing?
Well, I dont think so, since an AI cannot bring something into existence out of nothing. The most powerful stars cannot destroy or create energy, only convert it. AI also has a concrete history of being developed by human beings out of created materials. It did not always exist, and it can one day not exist, unlike the Lord our Creator, who must be eternal.

I am from Greece, the homeland of Culture and Sciences. So I have this to contribute, Civilization and Sciences developed in Greece when the ancient Greek philosophers and other scientists got rid of metaphysical concerns and endless discussions about God and I honestly don't believe they were wrong...
Science is the study of the nature and the universe, including everything inside of it and the laws that form it. Physics, mathematics, astronomy, biology, and all the other sciences involve around studying these things. Things that were created by God and formed under the wisdom of God. (I'm from Greece too)
Because without God there is no basis for ANY of the following: 1: Self Value 2: Morality 3: Love 4:Consciousness 5: Rationality. And that's 5 of many. Too flawed on a philosophical level, and this is why Theism is more logical. Because then we have someone who is able to define the rules because he KNOWS what is good. Not what he THINKS or OPINIONATES to be good. Because while majority would opinionate that Murder is wrong, if it changed the other way, there would be no basis to say they WERE wrong. Just useless opinions used for useless things in an existential existence. Which is why I am convinced, there is a god. It's up to you to decide who it is, and a good place to start is the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. And read each chapter twice, understand what you're reading and make a logical choice based off that. Have a blessed day!
I would explain the others but I will give others a maximum of 2 weeks to respond with their explanations for the Self value, love, and consciousness part. I already did Morality and Rationality.

Funny how the Christian God is an all powerful, uncreated Being, Being itself- the source of all existence, infinitely Good, True, and Beautiful… kind of different than a human no?
Well, we can be sure that it is correct, because look at how poor the Catholic church is, as just one example. ;-/ All religions adhere to their own tenets, don'tcha know, in this case, "Gather not up for yourselves, treasures on Earth". The hypocrisy is stifling.
Here’s one for the believers. I often grapple with the question “if God exists, why does he sit by and allow human suffering” to which I’m usually answered something like “God created man in his image and gave us free will and self determination without interference” etc to which I reply, if God cannot or will not intervene with human suffering, why bother to pray?
God intervenes in the suffering of human. He mentioned that if God wasn't interested then he wouldn't have descended in the form of Jesus to die on the cross for humans. They are so much suffering in the world because people choose to live a life different from what God is offering. Suffering became a part of human because we chose to disobey God. Becoming a Christian doesn't mean Suffering ends but it offers hope that we're not alone in our sufferings and that there's help only if we're willing to ask for it and also like he said in the video, there is a greater justice at the end of it all.

There is no known way to logically and rationally arrive at a conclusion in support ANY specific religion. The best that can come close to supporting the existence of god, could only support deist position. In other words, a power that created the universe but does not care to engage with human supplicants.
Some kind of god may have created the universe - it would explain why there is "something rather than nothing" - but beyond that I don't think we can be sure of anything. People have sincerely believed in thousands of different gods.
I have great respect for Muslims, but as far as I can gather, Allah is not renowned for his love. The Christian God came to live on earth in a human body. He was at times hungry, cold, didn't have a place to sleep, was humiliated, despised and eventually killed in a most brutal way - all because of his love for us; so that we, if we put our trust in Him, will receive everlasting life and ultimate justice. He even made it possible to have a relationship with Him, while still in this life on earth. I am not aware of any other religion that offers this.

Salvation for mankind But He doesn't really die because Jesus rose from the dead after 3 days (the point of a sacrifice is actual loss. Thanos and Gamora kind of thing. What does God lose if Jesus rose from the dead? How is that a sacrifice? ) Salvation is offered on conditions of Hell which im sure is what keeps most people in their faith. If you tried to explain TikTok or Lasik eye surgery to someone from 500 years ago, would they not call you absurd? It also used to be more thinkable that the universe revolved around the Earth too at one point in time. There is still so much to discover, and maybe we will never be able to discover it all. Despite how modern our world seems, we are still very much in our infancy in understanding the universe, so I think it's more absurd to think of any religion as the truth simply because we don't have the answers yet.
"know" 1 John 2:13 King James Version 13 I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father. John 10:27-28 King James Version 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. The ironic thing is, is that atheism is an absence of belief in deity and claim you can't know when it states you can know not only in the bible but on the entire historical fact of Christ's life, death and resurrection held as evidence by the empty tomb (and even the propaganda the Jew's created during the time trying to say the followers of Jesus stole his body) "where's the evidence?" The evidence is there and has been there. its historical fact, people just don't believe in it for their own reasons. As this man eluded to, the evidence of a creator is creation itself. the problem isn't a lack of evidence, its the evil and blindness of people themselves and even if you do receive a sign you "believe" it wise to approach everything with extreme skepticism until you can produce an environment to control it in order to understand it inside and out. Matthew 16:4 King James Version 4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed. Romans 1:28-32 King James Version 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; 29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: 32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. The Holy Word of God ask you to test it yourself. 1 Thessalonians 5:21 King James Version 21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. As a Christian we do not simply "believe" in God. we know him and get to know him more intimately through the Holy spirit and Prayer. Faith is not a blind belief in the existence of God, it is the belief God will keep his promises he made toward us. People love John 3:16 as i do, but the verses after help illuminate why people don't or cannot come to belief in God because it causes severe cognitive dissonance and demands a change that must happen in their lives (being born again) which can only be accomplished by what Jesus did on the Cross and it is evidence in and of itself because you can experience it. it is personalized and is a personal relationship waiting for everyone who enters into "belief" John 3:16-21 King james version 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. Atheism demands proof and evidence that is so clearly there and in front of them they cannot see it... why? GOD tells them why 2 Corinthians 4:4 King James Version 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. Yes, Paul wrote 2 Corinthians not God physically but let the bible explain 2 Peter 1:21 King James Version 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. The Atheist trys to understand everything with a carnal mind 1 Corinthians 2:14 King James Version 14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. Romans 8:6-8 King James Version 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. Atheism is untenable. in a way, especially after becoming a believer myself seems closer and closer to a form of insanity. For someone who knows Christ, who has the Holy spirit who dwells within them and has a personal relationship with the Father through Jesus. There is no argument nor debate here. It is a struggle to pull people out of deep water, to rescue them from the fire. To point them to the only person who can not only save you from all the horrible things you've done and the just punishment you will receive for it but also explain to you why the cake was made in the first place and your own role and meaning in everything. if you want to know God. Do not seek any man, idea or philosophy because Colossians 2:8 King James Version 8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. But instead 1. Repent 2. Confess 3. Ask for forgiveness, and the Holy spirit Matthew 7:7-8 King James Version 7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. and 4. listen and obey the Holy spirit as he guides you into all truth John 16:13 King James Version 13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. Atheism seeks truth but will never obtain it because they refuse to go to the "person who made the cake" which is frankly quite apt because considering timothy described unbelievers as 2 Timothy 3:7 King James Version 7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Please. read the book for yourself intentionally, purposefully. Take everything you think you know and sieve it through the Bible. Nothing would bring me more joy than to see more souls added to the Kingdom and to have more experience the love of the creator who laid it all out for us but i know deep in my heart that "few there be that find it" Matthew 7:13-14 King James Version 13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. i hope that your unbelief will turn into belief and your belief into knowing and all the perceived "contradictions" of the bible are illuminated and John 8:32 King James Version 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. With all humbleness and love.
Nor is knowledge the same as knowing-experience "proves" knowledge. But without faith there is nothing. To have faith is to believe in that which you do not know.
This is certainly true. Why then does one turn to the other extreme, namely atheism, i.e. the "knowledge" that there is no God? Agnosticism is the only reasonable position. That this is still a debate in 2024 is mind-boggling beyond words. I don't think theists have properly thought of what would constitute _definitive_ proof of the absence of God, nor have atheists considered what would _definitively_ proof His existence. Hence we have been mired in these dualistic ego games for millenia, and will be for quite some time yet.
For us simpler minded folks I look at something like love. Evolution without God needs attraction to maintain the species but what purpose does love have in such a system? I believe our need to connect with one another is because we all come from the same Divine Family where we were all joined and we long to be reconnected to our brothers and sisters.
I'll posit an answer: Love binds mating pairs of humans to each other and to their offspring. Love binds those families to the tribe. Love binds those tribes to human society. And human society is an extremely potent force for survival.
@@k7jeb I agree. So is that an argument for or against the existence of God? If it’s an argument against then I would counter with why does love have to exist at that level when simple attraction allows the species to continue along with packs, flocks or whatever that solve for the community? IMO love goes way beyond the “need” for simple existence that nature affords the rest of the animal world.
@@cjen1959 My point is that survival, either of the individual or of the species, is the final arbiter of existence. If "love", "faith in God" or brute physical strength enhances survival, then those attributes will propagate into the future with the surviving individuals. For humans, the big survival attribute is a complex, highly flexible social organization that effectively counters existential threats. Whatever the mental or physical constructs used for that social organization are, they become a part of the individuals who survive and reproduce.
What "Devine Family"? FACT: We all came from our ancestors -- from prehistoric humans who came from ape-men who came from apes, etc. etc. And that's not a BELIEF...nor is it "DEVINE." Animals also long for their own kind.

The other religions cannot save you. whereas Jesus Christ, who is the Son of God is only one way by which mankind can be saved and that is through Jesus Christ our Lord. who set aside his divinity and was created like us in everyway. Even when I was a borderline atheist , I still believed that God could exist and who’s origin could be explained so easily to even a hardcore atheist scientist; x amounts of time ago, virtually infinite to us, a super advanced civilization could have invented some form of super computer or AI that overtime became infinitely powerful , so powerful it was able to create universes , totally self aware, create heaven and earth, etc. so powerful we couldn’t even begin to comprehend its power . See even a hardcore atheist should be able to believe that’s a possibility
As a hard core scientist, I absolutely agree that this could be true. I’m pretty sure that conflicts with most believer’s concept of a supernatural god. I don’t think they have more advanced science in mind.
@@paulb2760 the thing is, the entity could be so powerful that it could indeed have become ‘supernatural’. At what point does something become so inconceivably powerful that it bridges the gap that we think of as science vs supernatural
@@paulb2760 my other personal theory , although I’m sure someone much smarter than me has said it before, but I don’t think I’ve ever read about it anywhere or heard about it but maybe…. Anyway it’s that if the universe is truly infinite, to my mind, that would mean EVERYTHING is real, including God, heaven , hell etc because in a truly infinite universe/multiverse everything has infinite chances of becoming real which means with infinite amount of time it would inevitably become real an infinite amount of times. If this makes sense…. I’m having trouble articulating my point
So what you saying is that god is an "antient and advanced" civilization. Who created an AI? Well, so is there god for that cavitation? Or it just came to be? An effect without cause. So no matter how far you will try to remove the "creation" event, it still does not explain why "existence" develops from simple to complicated. And if complicated somehow existed before the simple... well, it loses the whole sense isn't it?

He doesn’t actually "destroy" atheism or prove that God exists. Instead, Lennox talks about why he believes in God and argues that faith can go hand-in-hand with science.
The title seems like it’s just there to grab attention. If you’re expecting solid proof against atheism, you might not find it here. But the video is still worth watching if you want to hear a thoughtful take on how science and belief in God can work together.

But lets ask how he even knows about God? Some human told him. Belief in God is the worlds longest and oldest game of telephone.
And of course, the ultimate irony here is that he criticizes the big bang theory as recursive ("X therefore X") and so not a good theory. This criticism of X therefore X is painfully ironic since the major theme of everything he says is exactly X therefore X
Look at what he really says:
"1. If things are complicated, God must be the reason.
2. Some things are complicated.
3. therefore, god exists."
That's literally X therefore X.

All he did was present the fact that Newton believed in god, and that his college believed in god. These things don't prove god.
Without this relationship, people will do whatever they want, God will lose his authority and power because he is forced to come down to the level of 'mere humans' (Just like Jesus did for us)
The entire puppet theatre of trying to prove God is therefore meaningless, because proof does not equal faith and trust. We know its wrong to lie, cheat and steal but we do it anyway and after we die God will judge us by His law the 10 commandments which we can't escape because as I said God has written these laws in our hearts,
Thou shalt not lie
Thou shalt not steal
Thou shalt not commit adultery
Thou shalt not kill
Thou shalt not covet

Many in mankind are fools that have refused to believe in the One who created them. But many have and do. There is no mess. There are issues but those issues are caused by mankind. If God wanted to intervene He can and sometimes He has. However He has let mankind deal with the issue by themselves hopefully thru His laws ( that are defined to. avoid the mess ).

That's as intelectualy dishonest stance as it can get.

He doesn’t destroy atheism at all. If he did, he would have found good reason why God is rational and atheism is not.
Because without God there is no basis for ANY of the following:
1: Self Value
2: Morality
3: Love
4:Consciousness
5: Rationality.

The ironic thing is, is that atheism is an absence of belief in deity and claim you can't know when it states you can know not only in the bible but on the entire historical fact of Christ's life, death and resurrection held as evidence by the empty tomb (and even the propaganda the Jew's created during the time trying to say the followers of Jesus stole his body)
"where's the evidence?"
The evidence is there and has been there. its historical fact, people just don't believe in it for their own reasons.
Matthew 16:4
King James Version
4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.
Romans 1:28-32
King James Version
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
The Holy Word of God ask you to test it yourself.
1 Thessalonians 5:21
King James Version
21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
As a Christian we do not simply "believe" in God. we know him and get to know him more intimately through the Holy spirit and Prayer. Faith is not a blind belief in the existence of God, it is the belief God will keep his promises he made toward us.
People love John 3:16 as i do, but the verses after help illuminate why people don't or cannot come to belief in God because it causes severe cognitive dissonance and demands a change that must happen in their lives (being born again) which can only be accomplished by what Jesus did on the Cross and it is evidence in and of itself because you can experience it. it is personalized and is a personal relationship waiting for everyone who enters into "belief"
John 3:16-21
King james version
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Atheism demands proof and evidence that is so clearly there and in front of them they cannot see it... why? GOD tells them why
2 Corinthians 4:4
King James Version
4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
Yes, Paul wrote 2 Corinthians not God physically but let the bible explain
2 Peter 1:21
King James Version
21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
The Atheist trys to understand everything with a carnal mind
1 Corinthians 2:14
King James Version
14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Romans 8:6-8
King James Version
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Do not seek any man, idea or philosophy because
Colossians 2:8
King James Version
8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
But instead
1. Repent
2. Confess
3. Ask for forgiveness, and the Holy spirit
Matthew 7:7-8
King James Version
7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
and 4. listen and obey the Holy spirit as he guides you into all truth
John 16:13
King James Version
13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
Atheism seeks truth but will never obtain it because they refuse to go to the "person who made the cake" which is frankly quite apt because considering timothy described unbelievers as
2 Timothy 3:7
King James Version
7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Please. read the book for yourself intentionally, purposefully. Take everything you think you know and sieve it through the Bible.
Nothing would bring me more joy than to see more souls added to the Kingdom and to have more experience the love of the creator who laid it all out for us but i know deep in my heart that "few there be that find it"
Matthew 7:13-14
King James Version
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
i hope that your unbelief will turn into belief and your belief into knowing and all the perceived "contradictions" of the bible are illuminated and
John 8:32
King James Version
32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
4:23 he’s turning red he’s trying not to cry the conflict in him
Or because he is talking very loudly without a microphone it is causing him to turn a little pink.
@@Steve52344 I’m referring to the soul not the flesh.
He really didn't destroy anything nor he proved anything/gave solid reasons to believe in God.
Good talk but he forgets 4000 other religions
Let those religions produce their evidence
“One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism” “One Lord [there is], one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all persons, who is over all.”-EPHESIANS 4:4-6 this is quite clear to me, there is but 1 religion, all the rest belong to the wicked one 2 Cor 4:3,4
The other religions cannot save you.
whereas Jesus Christ, who is the Son of God is only one way by which mankind can be saved and that is through Jesus Christ our Lord. who set aside his divinity and was created like us in everyway. Heb 2:14-18. Suffered more than we can imagine, died once for all and is risen from the grave. Who as the Son of God created the heavens and the earth and all that is in them out of nothingness.
@@peteherrera1502 I agree with you about the Christ as the means to save mankind. But it was his heavenly father than sent him to rescue us. You mentioned other religions can't be saved, well, unless they turn to the true source of life. But most religions that believe in Jesus, don't worship the true God also ( a must for life ) as they don't even acknowledge his hebrew name YHWH הוה Ps 99:6/Ps83:18
@@paulb2760Oh we do 🙂 Possibly more than atheists.
What people are missing is not being aware Richard Dawkins was in the audience, what people are missing is him getting two minutes of mic time to "destroy" the mathematician's points, and religion in general.
Dawkins is great evolutionist/science but he isn't a philosopher and while you can claim all day that prime matter exists it doesn't - so there isn't anything you can do to undermine the Big Bang theory
I like very much how he explains his views
