@@SCRPXXL and it won’t change until at least the 14 or later. Honestly, I don’t see why the notch is a big issue. Yea sometimes it can be annoying on apps that are not optimized for iPhone, but 99% of the time you don’t notice it even when using FaceID.
I have the Apple TV4k and for the limited amount of time I actually use it, it's been great, as I primarily use it to access my expansive iTunes movie and Tv show library.
@@TechDove Yep. I know you can play Apple Arcade on it. But the Store only shows movies and TV shows. I don’t have any games in my library. So it might. I would just google it and see what comes up. I just checked it out and you can play them on the Apple TV
This was very well done. Much better than the slideshow-type “history of [insert device here]” videos (like the iMac video from yesterday) that pop up after every Apple event. Please do more of this style.
I remember my boomer aunt and uncle getting the second gen, i was there when they plugged it in and they were left with this "Now what?" mentality so jumped on youtube and played a random video lol.
Um, no it wasn't especially compared to third party remotes that used click buttons to scrub through content. With the native remote you often times had to swipe back and forward several times just to get it to a point where you wanted it and clicking the top right and left corners didn't always work if you weren't exactly on the right spot. That remote also didn't fit comfortably in most people hands even if they were of an average size and it was way too slippery and easy to lose. Finally it was not intuitive at all. When using a remote you should not have to think about how to use it. The previous remote, like the Fire TV remote, was much easier to use and if you were laying on the couch or bed all you had to do was pick it up, point and click without having to feel around or even look at the remote to use it. There's a reason why the overwhelming majority of people just tossed it into a drawer somewhere and used a third party remote.
@@kenyattaclay7666 I don't have to think of how to use it. You can change the sensitivity of the remote, if you think it's scrolling too fast since you have are having to scroll back because you went too far.
@@FinnishArmy you can change the setting all you want it still wasn't accurate otherwise they wouldn't have made the change. Also, the click function wasn't even close to accurate because you had to try and click it in the exact right spot. Also, when you have to feel around to figure out if you have it upside down or which button your hitting, your thinking about it which is why they had to add the raised white ring in 2017. Also, the fact that the remote was way too small to fit comfortably in even an average sized hand is why they have made it longer and more squared off and not made of glass. There's a reason why they went back to a style of the oogonial remote and the Fire TV remote and it's because it's a superior remote.
great vid as always! i have the latest apple tv and really cant wait for this new one to come out. they really did a great job on it! but man do i miss Front Row! i still have my remote for it haha good times
Hey! I’m a big fan of the videos. Today as I was unboxing my new iPad Air I couldn’t help but look at my iPhone box, iPad box, old iPhone boxes, my MacBook boxes, and I saw all the apple stickers I had accumulated from my years of owning apple products. I decided to sticker bomb my MacBook cover with apple stickers but that still leaves one question, what’s the history of apple stickers? Video idea? Hmmmm?
ITV 1955 Apple TV 2006 wow 51 years from each other Even ITV had regional channels with good stuff back then but now ITV shows aren’t the classic ITV Shows were better
this video is great I bought two 2nd gen Apple tvs for 20$ on FB and am very disappointed it didn’t have an App Store didn’t know the difference between the third and fourth generation but now I know why the fourth generation one still sells for so much at resale value
You forgot to tell the fact that Steve Jobs has quite a passion with film and TV shows, and that he called Apple TV a "hobby" of his. That's why it may have never sold that well, he's still able to justify continuing working on it later, and nailing the "lean back experience" Maybe after a long day at work at Apple, after all he's still a *couch potato* too just like all of us
Good video. It would have been nice if you talked a little about Apple dropping the optical output from the unit. People who use the Apple TV to stream music to a stereo system miss that feature.
I had about 4 of them. The first Generation, which you couldn't turn off. Ever. That aluminum model ran so hot you could fry an egg on it. My next one was the second Generation, followed by the 5th Generation, and now I have the current 4K WiFi model. It's come a long way.
Amazing video! Greg, have someone ever told you that your voice is exactly identical to Sal from Khan Academy? It's so understandable and characteristic
Topic idea!! Make a video what it’s like to have or get a job at Apple. From a retail store to corporate. What qualifications do you need for each? What’s the hiring process and interview like?
I've been calling Apple TV an "iPad in a box." I hope one day it gets M1 and runs an iOS version of XCode, it could essentially be Apple's gaming console.
Worth noting the the fifth gen Apple TV had the A10 Fusion chip. What’s weird is I have two Apple TV HDs and they both have the white ring around the menu button. Which is off. I’m convinced I have the fourth gen.
Greg, you are so talented! I don’t know how many people appreciate the detail you put in these animations but I sure do! Your work is recognized!!
Thank you so much 😀

Roku?
