EMT the click in standby is super handy to keep your phone secure as you move between scene and then ready to film within seconds again.
How did you find the facial tracking I thought it needed abit of bug fixing on the front facing camera . This was on an iPhone 6 however
Love my smooth 4, it is my first gimbal, but I love the ease of use I can teach my students to use it very simply. The best part for me is the battery life! It is ridiculous, I do need the usb c to lightning port because my phone can’t last near as long! I’ve noticed the motion time lapse is a bit glitchy tho, have you had this?

Yes! I really liked this too! The active tracking needs a lot of work. Definitely did not perform like the Osmo Mobile 2 or the SMOVE Mobile. Currently working on editing that comparison! Thanks for sharing! 🤘🏼

I've switched over to the DJI Osmo 3 - and it's waaay smoother when panning low and just general movements are much, much better than on my - before - favourite Smooth 4 :D

EMT I can’t wait to get my computer fixed for my post editing lately I’ve been playing with dji om2 and use the editor on the dji go app, it gives me options to change contrast, brightness and a few other options. I’m looking to get adobe premier soon as I get the computer running, what software you use?

Hi there, Liked the video! We have the Smooth4 for almost a year now in combination with the Note8. As you may or may not know the Zhiyhun app doesn't work fully with Android. However I find the gimbal it self has a very good quality / price ratio. As long as the app isn't fully functional for Android I'll use the camera software from the Note8 it self.
Favorite feature: Beeing able to keep your phone charged whilst filming with the gimbal. Keep up the nice video's and maybe next time 'We'll see you in Mainstreet!'

DJI Osmo Mobile 2 has the better App Integration (Android) if you plan on doing Timelapse/Hyperlapse and other Stuff right from the App. For better Sound an external Mic. Is recommended.
I am or let me correct that, was, a sad owner of the Zhiyun Smooth 4.
It sets in the local land fill now for it's constant software/firmware
errors. I bought a Moxi two weeks ago and have experienced a gimbal now
that WORKS. Wish people like you EMT gave something more true. I am
far from the only person with problems.

I have a note 9 and ordered the smooth 4. Its flawless. Good thing I gambled with rather than picking up a DJI osmo mobile 2. Its light weight and all functions are working. 4k 60 fps is supported. The only thing not quiete synching is the filmicpro app. I have sent inquiry to filmicpro and is waiting for updates. Really easy to use. Super light weight and handy. And yes motor is sturdy and no unwanted vibrations so far. Worth the price. Bought it only for 100 $ equivalent online brand new.

Currently The Osmo Mobile 2 and 1 are the ones that are compatible with Filmic Pro and I agree! It would be great if there was a standard for all gimbals to be compatible! Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me! 🤘🏼

I've only just started searching but am looking to buy one of these. I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra and is generally ok for photos (nothing special) but is cumbersome for videos. I love the way the Zhiyun has so many function and setting adjustments whereby you don't need to tap and menu search the phone. That will suit me fine as most of my activity is photos anyway.

Hey EMT! I just have done few test with mi iPhone X and the Smooth 4, but now I saw and issue and I dont know what to do... when I export my videos from the app to the Apple Photos app it loose the quality. how do I have to export my videos to my pc to get them in 4k? :( :(
I notice this cuz I was importing some videos from iCloud to my pc, and adding them to Premier Pro and it says that the videos are 720 30fps ... Im getting crazy about it.

Thanks! I’m torn between the Osmo and the 4, but here in Canada the Smooth 4 is $40-50 cheaper so I’m leaning in that direction.
It’s a fantastic option when paired with Filmic Pro. Also Osmo 3 was leaked recently so I’d wait to see what that looks like.

I’ve had it four days and have done a deep dive into features. I can’t seem to get it to turn on the light to light a shot. They say it’s the center button of the wheel. What’s the secret?

It depends on the needs of the user. I feel that the Smooth 4 is extremely robust and the Filmic Pro integration makes this a powerhouse. However, for traveling and for social media vlogs I like the Moza Mini S. Both are fantastic at the end of the day! Hope this helps a bit! 🤘🏼

I’ve been using it mainly with Filmic Pro and there is good integration, but you seem to be using within the app. Please tell me what app are you using and can you do a similar video tutorial on using it within the app? Thanks and keep making these, they are great.
For this video I was using both the ZY Play app and the native camera app. Filmic Pro is definitely what I would default to now a days for a more control. 🤘🏼

Jerran Duty Yes. I’ll set 3 spots for the time lapse. Point 1 to 2 is really fast and point 2 to 3 is a normal pace. Then, a few times I would only set 2 points and it would stay in one spot and video would be jittery. Like it wants to go but, it doesn’t.

I cant decide whether to buy the smooth q or smooth 4. (even conciderd an osmo 2) Features of the smooth 4 are amazing but I've never owned a gimbal nor have I had any experience with making video's. My basic use for a gimbal is travel. I want something user friendly that can still take amazing shots. Also I only own an Iphone SE so I was wondering would the SE look silly with such a big gimbal like the smooth 4? so torn! Anyway love watching your video's your reviews are simple and to the point. Keep it up!
Not at all! The SE is wonderful for this! It might actually be better since there no Optical Image Stabilization! I’d say Smooth Q since it packs most features and for a great price! I believe you can get it for about $99 dollars and it has similar features! Hope this helps!

Hey Bro I love your videos! They are good ^^ I have a Hard time choosing gimbal, now Osmo 2 supports FiLMiC pro support. I have never used a gimbal, so Im in the dark, i Will be using FiLMiC but dont know which one to buy, If i buy Smooth it Will be a lot of buttons without usage, i Will use them in the ZY play to make focusshots or zoomshots but other than that FiLMiC is more powerful. So i dont know, you like the Smooth no? Stabilization as good as Osmo? What Do you think i should go with?
The DJI Osmo Mobile 2 is a fantastic gimbal and it still holds the title for me Stabilization wise. Outside of that the Smooth has way more robust features but if you wont necessarily use them then Osmo Mobile would be my recommendation. I've had many different gimbals in my professional career as a cinematographer. I think I also have tried just about all the cell phone gimbals out in the market. I definitely chose and use this Smooth 4 over DJi and all the other gimbals out there. My biggest reason is that this gimbal pairs up very nicely with Filmic Pro. Only DJi and the Zhiyun Smooth 4 are supported with Filmic Pro. My choice is definitely the Smooth 4. Now it does have some short comings especially and sadly to say in the tracking feature. But as I mentioned before, I am a professional cinematographer and as a professional cinematographer, we don't use auto tracking. That feature is mostly used by rookies. Manual focus is what is used in the pro industry. As for the ZY Play app ... it has many features but its very twitchy. I stick with the Filmic Pro app which is more stable and professional. Hope this helps.

@@EMTFILMS Yes but it lacks the BIG WHEEL which is extremely useful for focus pulls. The problem with the Smooth 4 is not the gimbal ... its the app that crashes and doesn't do justice to the gimbal. The app does many things but it doesn't do any of them excellent.

from previous experiance with the mavic dji app 4 in iphone and galaxy . I choose osmo butttt who knows i might be wrong ! What happen with th mavic app is it hang and diconect only in galaxy note8 but in th old iphone 6s never happen . So maybe i need new iphone for osmo m2 . Oh man . I hoooope it work perfect in galaxy note8 . I ll do some research before i buy .
I’ve been checking your channel like twice a day for your new Smooth 4 vids since your unboxing 😂 so excited to see this! I ended up finally pulling the trigger and ordering the Smooth 4 over the Osmo Mobile 2 - I really liked the idea of not having to poke at my iPhone screen as much and since I use iPhone I heard that the app experience really wasn’t all that bad, like it unfortunately is for Android. Still looking forward to that head to head though - I somehow wouldn’t be surprised if I didn’t eventually end up with both. Haha! And for the future, comparisons with that new Smove Pro would be so interesting too.

So far I haven’t found a button mapping or a menu shortcut besides scrolling with the wheel. It would be a nice feature to have mappable buttons!

Nice video EMT my question is is there anything negative that you don’t like about the gimbal firmware issues at all I now you still haven’t use it enough yet but I’ll wait to see more of your videos.
Glad you liked the video! Im definitely sharing some of those challenges on the next on but basically the active tracking is not quite usable with firmware 1.74. Tracking is very slow in comparison to other apps from other gimbals. Stabilization is good but not better than Smooth Q, Smove Mobile or DJI Osmo Mobile 2. Their rep shared a new firmware update with me and I’ll ad a last minute comparison after the new firmware. Other than those kinks, it’s got a lot of potential! 🤘🏼

At the time of this video it was not performing like it should. Looking to revisit in the coming weeks!
If you want to use an external microphone on an iPhone then
be aware that you will need a 90-degree lightning adaptor (which can be
difficult to get in some countries), a counterweight, and a holder for your
microphone. The counterweight limits its movements. Does it work - sure, but I would
never have bought this knowing what I know now. I thought that this was less
expensive than competitors like DJI Osmo 4, but using all this extra equipment you
end up spending about that same for a product that is way less elegant and isn’t
officially supporting heavier phones than iPhone 11. Zoom/focus wheel is nice,
but you will need a bigger screen to see what you are doing, and you must get
used to the delay. I personally don’t find great uses for Vertigo mode, but if
that is incredibly important to you then go for it.

Glad you enjoyed the video! I think it’s a great option if you’re looking to stay under the $130 price point. My favorite thing about it is the Filmic Pro integration. DJI Osmo Mobile 2 also has that integration but the wheel that the Smooth 4 has makes it very useful and easy to zoom/focus. Hope this helps! 🤘🏼

using a wide angle lens does the motor come into view when holding the gimbal vertically? is it possible to use the built in camera app (from xiaomi mi9 lite for example) or do we have to use the zy app? knowing this gimbal doesn't have the joystick for fine adjustments, the only option we have is to press the back bottom button, do the adjustment and then release it right? thanks!
I like it! I dont have filmic pro! They say that makes it better but it doesn't have vertigo mode!! Thats the sad part about filmic pro!
Hi, great video! I recently purchased the smooth 4 but was dissapointed when I use the ultra wide angle camera on my samsung note 10 plus.. I can see the arm of the gimbal on the bottom right 🥴

Im planning to buy smooth 4, but a little worry about it's compatibility with my Samsung A10?
The one thing I hate with it if you go from low to high you get a jerking motion to the centre once you pass 30 or so degree angle.
So if the handle is not lined up you get unwanted motion. that said it is still a great tool
At times I apply image stabilization in Final Cut Pro when something like this occurs. Great tool and I hope the next iteration includes some sort of joystick hehe. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! 🤘🏼
Hi, thx so much for all your videos. I recently switched to the Zhiyun Smooth 4 from the Osmo 2 after it broke... Anyway, I like the Zhiyun but miss the ease of motion timelapse using the Osmo. It feels weird to physically move the phone around in the gimbal arm to the positions I want and sometimes it just seems to freeze up when I do this, it goes limp. I love motion timelapses and its really dissapointing that Im having a hard time figuring out a fail safe method of setting it up to go to the right waypoints..... I would love to see a tutorial on this. I have looked everywhere and can't find one........I would love to know the best techniques and settings for cool motion moves that are possible. I find it really hard to set up a scene with waypoints and those additional cool spin, curve moves ( sorry I forget the correct term ). I would really appreciate any advice on the best settings to set. I love the potential of the Smooth 4 and hope that I can make it happen.....its just that it was so easy on the DJI Osmo 2 to get a basic motion time-lapse........of course again the potential is greater on the Smooth 4 with all the setting options..... While watching another Smooth 4 review someone mentioned a Sandmark Lens, so I tried to find it on amazon to read and compare but found nothing. And it’s hard to sort through this being a complete novice.
I am patiently waiting for my Moment Lens order! 😫 Hopefully it’s a week or two away! I’ve heard of that brand but on IG ads not on Amazon. I’ll definitely upload tests with the lenses!

I like the others have been anxiously awaiting your vids on the smooth 4 and Smove mobile.....at least I think you are doing one on Smove mobile 🙂.... I’m torn between osmo mobile 2 that works with FilmicPro and smooth 4 that doesn’t... using iPhone 7 Plus and with filmic pro u can turn off the image stabilization and hence I hear it works well with osmo 2.... did the zy app work sufficiently well with your iPhone? For you not to miss filmic pro?
Have you heard of any other major issues using smooth 4 with Zy app and iPhones?

Initially I filmed DJI Osmo Mobile vs Smooth 4 in NYC. However Zhiyun just updated their firmware and I can already see some small improvements in Stabilization. I will make an all 3 gimbal video comparison after I release the NYC ones since it definitely changed for the better and Smove updated their app! Also Filmic Pro allows you to turn off Digital Image Stabilization which I feel helps a ton with the random jitters. The Optical Image Stabilization is always on and can’t be turned off. The ZY Play app on iOS allows you to turn on or off Digital Image Stabilization as well. I like filmic more for its log profile capabilities and the ability to change the frame rate and bit rate. Hope this helps a bit! I will create those comparisons for sure. It might take me a week or 2 to release but it will happen! Thanks for sharing your time with me! I really appreciate it! 🤘🏼

Hey EMT I am about to pull the trigger on the Smove Mobile but I just saw this. The reason the Smooth 4 caught my attention was the focus and zoom controls. I'm getting into making short films and music videos so the ability to be that hands on with the focus/zoom wheel I feel is helpful when you're trying to go for more cinematic looking shots. Is there any way to control the focus so easily on the Smove Mobile? What would you recommend?
Yes! The app has the ability to manipulate the focus, exposure, white balance and iso! I’m actually making a 5 Reasons why I like the Smove Mobile Part 2! Dropping this week! 🤘🏼

Any suggestions for smallest gimbal in the market. But still, which have good quality of course?
So far the smallest I’ve interacted with is the Freevision Vilta M. It’s a bit smaller then the DJI Osmo Mobile 2. Feiyutech just release an even smaller one called the Vlog pocket. Hope this helps! Thanks for sharing your time with me! 🤘🏼
