Hands down the best tutorial on this product! So far so good for me. I bought it and I use a Samsung Galaxy Note 5. Able to record in 4K, and everything is working. I'll be updating firmware today also

Definitely a great review, there's a lot to cover and it does so really well. Just acquired my unit today, having had a small tinker with it, this video certainly sets up a comprehensive checklist of things to try out in the days to come.

It give a great tutorial on the operation of the gimbal I brought recently. Now I can appreciate this product a bit more after understanding the features on how to use it.

Depends on your iPhone's thickness. Best that you remove the casing while using with this Gimbal.
The plus is a larger phone and as such it would be better to use it without the phone case. While I'm sure it would be able to mount, the added weight would mean pushing the balance adjustment arm to its furthest end which could render the standby mode redundant. Personally I'd rather have an ideally balanced gimbal that let's me use all it's features and live with the little hassle of having to remove the case. Besides, if vlogging is something you do and if you have a phone with a glass back, then you can use the main camera to film yourself and get better quality video than the selfie camera. Also, the Smooth 4 motors automatically stop if they get hot due to improperly balanced devices. That's a good safety feature but not something you'd want to happen often. So it's best to reduce the weight as much as you can. Hope this helps.:)
A lot of issues has been reported by many reviewers and still a big question mark when it comes to Android compatibility! Timelapse motion doesnt work! Zooming is unstable. Object motion tracking or Follow mode is sluggish! bumpy on fast movement tracking, Stabilization is not as smooth, solid and cheesy like DJI Osmo 2. Software issues with Android devices & FilmicPro App! I have Galaxy S8+, i dont think its going to work properly with this gimbal, but I'm still waiting for solutions before I decide to buy Smooth4 which I like the features it has... let me know if there's a way!
It simply won't work as good as an iPhone right now. They do release firmware updates, so I think it is worth keeping an eye on until they fix these issues.
I suppose it is easier to develop for Apple vs the rest. There are so many Android phone manufacturers with different specs and access limitations. Hope it can work on a Xiaomi max :)
andrew finlay sucks for me because I have one on order and I am Not switching back to iPhone anytime soon. Any 3rd party app could work better?
Please let me know when this is working perfectly with Android , I ordered it but luckily i read about the problems with android so i canceled it .... and i heard as well don't support 4K in there app for android so thats a major disappointment
Youngblood68 I am planning to consider either Moza Mini Mi or Vilta M but still waiting for them to work with Android fully without any issues! Until then I'll keep watching. The rest of the gimbals on market are NOT android device user-friendly! Simply because Samsung and other Android phone manufacturers do not let third party Apps to have full access to their gadgets which is the worst decision these companies make to control their products and make it too difficult for their consumers like us to enjoy all these features these new gimbals come with, unlike Apple/iOS which gives full access to all third party Apps! So the problem is with Android device manufacturers and not the gimbal as I used to think in the past. Well it is what it is! They can keep playing their games that we don't fully understand the motives behind it.

Nope. Keep BOTH with you. One thing the Smooth Q does which the Smooth 4 can't ever do is the complete 360 degree rotation of the former. Smooth 4 can only do, roughly a 270. But never a full rotation. Also the Smooth Q has that quick dandy joystick controlled by our thumb for that nifty up/down/left/right movement. Also the Smooth 4 only has a MicroUSB charging port for your CP which is okay if you buy that special charging cable, separately. Whereas, the Smooth Q has a standard USB port located at the lower part of the gimbal handle. ^_^
Good tips Darren, I am also a current Smooth Q user and have just ordered a 4. Great tips on a reason to keep both.

Yes, I have the Note 9 and have been using the gimbal for a few weeks with very little difficulty. Even though I have the Filmic Pro s/f I use the ZY Play app most of the time. I haven't found any bugs in it so far keeping in mind the smooth 4 officially doesn't support the Note 9...yet. Today I was practicing with the motion time lapse. It worked exactly how the instructions stated it would. Very, very important: this gimbal and software requires ALOT of practice over and over. There is much to learn so just take 'small bites' when you get started.

Thank you for the fantastic review - I learned so much! I still find the Lock button has a mind of its own, so I will keep looking for what I might be doing wrong there. The Target (motion tracking) actually works pretty well, but just like motion tracking in a video app, you have to have a well defined object (draw the box only as big as the object) and it has to move fairly slowly.
