- Think of this video as an audio podcast (lots of me talking) with some video (mostly of me talking). I'll be discussing keto related topics that are in the news, discussing frequently asked questions from my viewers, and sometimes talking about some non-keto stuff (but probably cooking related).
In this episode, I explain why the total carbs vs net carbs video will push to next week, I thank you for your support of the channel, I share my strategy on cravings while on keto, and I predict that we'll hit 300K subscribers.

OMG! Thank you so much for the shout out to my Facebook and Instagram! I have to answer one question and that is how to make the book. No it is not laser cut. In a photo editing program you edit whatever photo and text you would like and once you save the image, then you import it into a book folding software, which will then give you a printout of where to make your marks and make your cuts at the edge of the page. Everything is hand done from the marking of the book to the cutting and then finally to the folding. It is very time-consuming, but what better way to use your time while watching serious keto content LOL. Thank you for all you do for us!
Wow. That’s really cool.
You deserved the shoutout! What a cool gift!!
Heather, I tried to find your FB page but there’s a couple. Would love to follow you! Help 😊
🎉Awesome 😃👍
Amazing work!
As a coach for Ken Berry, I very frequently recommend your channel. Many times, it's because someone lives with an individual who DOES NOT eat keto.
Also, this craving segment is perfect for many of our members.
Steve ya gotta go total Carnivore, just for 60 days...come over to the dark side!
No off switch with carbs
Agree @marciavimazal8692. Love this channel and Serious Keto’s approach to keto. 👍🏻
Your advice on how to help ALL YT influencers is so true. And it reminds me, once again, of why I was so attracted to your vids; your ethics. Your integrity. You are a mensch.
I'm so proud to be in your gravitational orbit.
Love to all. 🥰🥰
I had to Google “mensch". It sounds like something chewy you’d give to a dog. 😉
This video is timely. I went off Keto for 2 days thinking it would be no big deal. I was wrong. I've struggled ever since with really strong cravings, especially at night. It was much easier for me to break from carbs when I first went keto than I'm having now. If I'd had any idea what those 2 days would cost me, I'd never have done it. It so wasn't worth it.
And thanks for the info on using your Amazon affiliate links to purchase things that aren't on your list. I had no clue that was possible. Now that I know, I'll be sure to use it whenever we're getting ready to make some Amazon purchase. That's a super easy and convenient way of showing support.
Wow! Almost to 300,000? That is amazing and well deserved. Bravo!
I’m an introvert too. I love being in quiet or low volume places.
One of my strategies to limiting myself on Keto snacks or products is to keep them in the freezer. Rarely do I need a Chipmonk cooke or Perfect Keto bar badly enough to wait for it to thaw out.
Thanks for those tips to deal with cravings. For me I find it takes so much less willpower to avoid eating the first food temptation than eating just "one" of something and having to enlist 10 times more willpower to not have a second helping. All easier said than done. Had every intention of playing your playlist in the background and forgot. Thanks for the reminder. Will be celebrating with you when you reach 300,000 subscribers. Received a notification on this podcast this time.
Your channel is so needed right now. Thank you for your dedication.
Thanks for the reminder to watch more. I played playlists overnight at first and then forgot. I will try to remember more often. Keep up the reminder.
I usually keep Bacon Jerky on hand at all times for cravings. It’s also nice to take on the go when I have to go out of town for one of my kids appointments. I’ll stop and get them something to eat at a drive through and I’ll have my bacon jerky. Having fatty options like that on hand really fill you up and often kill the craving for junk. Congratulations on getting close to 300k and your podcasts make Mondays a little brighter so please don’t go anywhere! ❤
Me, too. Little packets of jerky are perfect! Costco has a bag of individually wrapped packets.
Is that something you make yourself? Is it just bacon in a dehydrator until it turns to jerky?
@seriousketo yes! I dehydrate thick cut bacon at 165 degrees for about 6 hours! I have a 10 tray dehydrator and can do 6 to 8 lbs of bacon at a time! It’s so good! I got the idea from Joe and Rachel and you can actually put different sauces on it and make different flavors! I usually like it plain but occasionally use g Hughes hickory bbq sauce for something different! The fat melts in your mouth it’s so good!
@@jessieg4158 Yes, bacon jerky is the most dehydrated food in my 10 tray Cosori dehydrator. So easy to put the slices on the trays and you are done with the prep. Hardly any of the fat is removed so you are getting a full fat experience that is so delicious.
What is bacon jerky?
My one craving I get is chocolate. It will last for days or until I give in somewhat. So instead of having chocolate that tastes really good.. even like Lillys. I have chocolate that's 95% cacoa or more. One square is enough
I can’t believe that one of the best UA-cam keto channels is in “trouble”- I bench-watch your videos all the time and always learn something knew! Thank you !
I tend to get chatting with customers or employees when I grocery shop. Many times we end up talking about keto, carnivore or supplements. I always tell myself that I need to make a few different business cards to hand out. I've told many about your channel... but I think that a business card with the name, website or link on it would help even more. I just went to 2 local Food Lions today to look for clearance items that are pantry stable. Got in a great conversation with one stocker and found out her husband is doing keto. We are going to connect by email and share information. I love supporting you and other channels by sharing your info!
Like the idea of spreading the "wealth". It also will encourage more people to participate.
Thanks, Steve! I, too, am the only keto member of my household, and so often your recipes and advice are a lifeline for me. THANKS SO MUCH!!!
Took one for the team …. Husband points scored
I love your strategy on keeping the ChocZero sweets in the man-cave. AND the “not-denying, but delaying” a non-keto treat. Thanks for the content - much appreciated.
I am new to keto only 6 months in . Loss 54 pounds. So, I would appreciate the shorts that tell me about older meals and snacks videos you have done. This channel has given me great meal recipes. Thanks .
54 lbs? Wow! Great work!
Thanks Steve for all you do for our Keto community! Heather did an amazing job on your book!😃👍 Have a blessed week 💜 🙏 ✌️ 🎶 💐 🌞
I sure needed to hear tips on not giving into cravings.
I try to remind myself how crummy if will feel (in my body and psyche) if I cheat and have something high-carb. I wish I could force an instant replay of the crummy feeling BEFORE I give in to the cheat impulse so I can teach myself it just isn't worth it. Another slippery slope is one cheat leads to another...
Hi Steve! 👋🐈 I avoid temptations as best as I can by NOT creating stuff to compensate sweet cravings. The web is FILLED with sites that do just that.
In my mind (slowly losing the grey matter) consuming sweet substitutes is simply feeding that desire, thus prolonging/plateauing weight loss.
I do exactly what you had mentioned, find something that requires my time and energy, do whatever, and then recalling what I have gone through to get where I am today... which was A LOT!
I was not aware of the Amazon Store tip. Look forward to my next purchases 😬😬🐈
I’m so jealous of people that only crave savory or sweet. I want all the things
Dude! I am totally a fan! Yours is the first channel I go to in the morning to see what Steve has to say today! Cool fan art Heather!
Every Sunday when I meal prep for the week, I also make a keto dessert for my diabetic BF and some keto snacks for me. This is how I have a "go-to" instead of picking up a bag of doritos or chips at Walgreens when I am done with my shift (I work in the pharmacy). Also, Kwik Trip has keto friendly snacks which work in a pinch...they have cheese and sausage packets and boiled eggs for example. Another tip...when I think mmmm doritos sound good right now...I look at the back where the ingredients are listed. Maltodextrin is a NO GO for me not even mentioning the other ingredients. Congrats on your upcoming 300k!!!!!
Hi Steve, great subjects discussed. The very first video I found of yours was keto mayo. I use it exclusively.
Cravings; according some nutritionist say that having a savory breakfast will help with glucose spikes thru the day.
I drive truck but have been home last couple weeks on medical leave ( doctor found heart murmur and conducting test). Being home has made it so easy to make healthy keto meals. I make keto chocolate chip cookies or have from Chipmonk. I allow my cookie after dinner for dessert and feel satisfied. No major sweet tooth thru the day.
Hopefully will keep habit when return to work.
Catcher in the Rye spiked my glucose.
I totally LOLed.
I’ve always enjoyed your content! The quirky nature of your videos with the non-keto folks in your life is endearing. Even when I’ve taken breaks from “keto living” your approach has continued to be enjoyable. Thank you for continuing to help make keto realistic.
I crave bread.
Chelsee, I agree!
So glad the channel is showing it's strength. Your time is appreciated. Thanks for explaining how the shopping link works because I am an Amazon junkie. ❤
I like your idea for short-form videos, not standalone junk but a preview/teaser/abstract/snack for the full video.
Steve, it was great to hear your strategy for not falling off the keto wagon. I am like you, once I eat carbs it is really hard to stop.
You are so right about simple carbs causing more cravings. I can't go to a Mexican Restaurant. Even though I know I can have fajitas and stay keto, I can't stay away from the tortilla chips and just one leads to the whole basket and then on the way home I crave something sweet.
Intermittent fasting with a small eating window helps limit the amount of time I can cheat because of cravings.
Heather's artwork was Seriously cool!!❤
I love your "window of opportunity" ideas. If I am craving sweets, I go out for a walk or a pick up some origami paper and make something.
Steve, great to hear,
I really enjoy your channel and hope my likes and comments help in some small way.
I have watched for a long time but did not realize how UA-cam worked and want to help anyway I can. Keto on
I have to completely avoid bread in any form . I don't have cravings very often but when your husband buys a huge soft pretzel I have to have strong resolve. I make fathead dough or chaffles things to help me get through bad days. Thank you for all your recipes.
I have the same problem with the non stop, eat until it's gone part of eating carbs. Then I have a carb hangover, feel awful and have a real struggle to get back on track. Yuck. It's best to not start at all. I appreciate the tips for avoiding the craving. Thank you for your honesty and your helpful videos.
My cravings are usually any kind of munchies, especially popcorn. and it’s usually when I’m in a bad mood.
Cool book! Steve, you are amazing to be in a house with Oreos and not go face-down in the cookie jar. I have to keep my home safe from those kinds of things for now.
u are soooo right about the cravings! wow... thats what makes it hard, discipline is tough! thx Steve for giving ways to escape the sweetz! thats my weakness....🤦♀
Thanks for talking about craving’s. They are hard sometimes.👍
Hey Steve! Thanks for explaining how content creators get paid. BTW, I'm a fan! 😊
I love your videos.. the cooking ones are what saved/saved me when I have cravings. I’m too a the only one Keto here. Thanks again Steve.
Thanks for the great tips about cravings. You are exactly right, having a cheat meal or snack starts the cravings big time!!!
I have a road trip coming up soon and I think listening to your playlist will be my go to
I’m only halfway through this particular video, but I had to tell you… I’m a fan too! 😊 For many reasons. Your content, the recipes and how thorough your instruction is, your sense of fun and the way you share your family. Yet while I say I’m a fan, I feel more like it’s friendship. Of course, that’s weird when you have never met me, LOL, but that’s how it is.
- And thanks for the laugh, by the way… that thing you said, something about getting stuck in the eye with a sharp stick, totally cracked me up! 😆 -Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to watch the rest of the video!
I did Keto religiously for around 3 years. The first year I went from 235lbs down to 170lbs without working out at all. I felt great. Somewhere along the line, I 'fell off the wagon" and have reverted to my old ways. The weight is back and I feel like crap but I'm not able to start over again. Glad others have the will power that I lack.
It may be hard are but You are Able.
Boldly Go where You Know You belong!
Ramming speed Sulu!! 😎🤩🖖🏼
Thanks Steve for your great suggestions on tackling cravings.
It’s nice to hear that others refer to simple carbs as a drug or addiction. I feel the same way.
Love your advice!! I'm the only one eating keto in my house. So you are an inspiration to me.
Thanks Steve glad to see the uptick for the channel
Keep up the Great work Steve! I love your channel and hope you'll be with us for a long time.
Thanks Steve! See you next time .... 300k is a very big deal... you got this!!!
Thanks Steve. The anti craving strategies are very useful.
I'm glad the little bit I did helped.
Thx Steve. Unfortunately, my cravings are two: Tito's (too often) occasionally, once per month, chips. Thx for sharing strategies. I know, I know.... ❤
I was quite the fan of Tito’s. Before keto, it was gimlets. Once I went keto, dirty martinis or with sugar free tonic water and a slice of lime. I can tell you that my sleep is far better without that.
@@SeriousKeto thank you for your candor. I have an over night sleep test May 24. In fact, my sleep is worse without it. Nightmares/terrors. When I Tito's I can sleep. Hoping to work through it all. I appreciate you Steve and your honesty comes through.
I love your idea for the shorts especially show casing some of your old videos. I have watched a lot of them but not all yet. I think it would be really interesting to see which ones you pick. Also I always keep pork rinds in the house that really helps keep me on track when a craving hits.
Good to know about the Amazon links!
Also interesting about the cravings, I get that way too, one high carb item and BAM I want more. I don’t know anyone who does Keto so feels good to know I’m not alone!
That book from Heather was pretty cool!
Pizza is my kryptonite! I have to come clean and admit that almost every Friday, I'm making a new pizza dough recipe (not keto) and consuming more pizza than I should. I'm pretty good with, every thing else the rest of the week. 😢 I'm excited for your 300K - 🎉 Congrats in advance!
I don't recall where I heard this, but it was stated that pizza is the most addictive food of all!
I make pizza ALL THE TIME! But I use keto tortillas, Alfredo sauce (saved as ice cubes in a freezer baggie) with leftover meats and veg!
Fathead dough is a pretty good substitute for bread pizza dough. People that are not keto and don't know it is not pizza dough love it!
Wow that s good to know about the cookie Amazon does. I’ll remember that in the future to organize my shopping. Love your channel Steve!
I so get your not liking crowds Steve. I’m the same way. I’ve been meaning to tell you that I got my “ overthinking” T-shirt. Thank you very much for the info and what a great company might I add! The not so great part is when my mind starts going down the rabbit hole, my adult son who is living with me (caregiver due to my cancer) tells me, “Go get your shirt on!” 🤣🤣 Had to edit to say thank you also about the Amazon info!! 😃
Best wishes to you with your cancer. I’m newly diagnosed with stage 2/3 invasive breast cancer. After two months of ALL the tests I will meet with the oncologist in 4 days. Sigh. Cancer sucks and is stupid. It’s hard to understand how I got it when I’ve never been healthier or felt better since starting keto a year ago. Best wishes to you on your cancer journey.
@@jsorensens2 To you as well. I totally get what you’re saying. I found out last September that I have Stage IV RCC with metastasis to my lungs. Sadly I had no idea because I’ve been suffering with fibromyalgia for years and depressed over my husband dying from cancer in 2022 so I attributed the symptoms to that. I went to the ER feeling like I couldn’t breath and ended up intubated for two weeks. I felt like I went to the ER as one person and woke up another. It was quite a shock because there’s no history of cancer in my family. I know that’s not a guarantee these days. Cancer does suck big time and it takes over your life. Prayers for you as you start your treatment journey.
@@GBR1980JD I’m so sorry to read about your situation. Damn cancer.
@@jsorensens2 There are some interesting videos about using fasting to help with the side effects of cancer treatments. Might be worth a look.
Make sure there is a clear link from your short form video to the actual video it references. Nothing is more frustrating than to try to search through hundreds of a creators videos trying to find the one you were "teased" with!
Thank you for all you do for us!
I started the keto thing with the old "Carb Nite Solution" where there's a cheat night every week once you get into keto. It actually worked and I lost over 50lbs, and hit my ideal weight in less than a year. Problem is, it sorta teaches you to binge eat and that ultimately ended with me slowly gaining most of the weight back. Now I'm 5 years older and the weight doesn't seem to be coming off the same way even without the weekly cheat meals. It really does need to be a lifestyle choice and those complex carbs really are like crack!
In "The 4 Hour Body", Timothy Ferris promotes his "slow carb" (low carb) diet for 6 days a week, but on Saturday's would binge on everything he wanted - often in excess of 10K calories in a day. I can't imagine how awful I would feel on the next day...
That sounds very similar to the carb nite thing. I chose Sunday for my cheat night mainly to help me forget about the next day being Monday and having to go to a crappy job. I can 100% confirm that the next day was awful and I'd be up several pounds. But, by the 2nd half of the week, I'd always end up down a few lbs again somehow. Too bad it turned out to not be sustainable, at least not for me.
I also have a love of bread and have a hard time stopping if I start. I do make it a point to try and remember how I feel after eating flour products as I feel so bloated and often have an upset stomach after eating flour products.
Great discussion of cravings! Thanks.
Wow. 300,000 subscribers. Congratulations.
I liked your strategies in dealing with cravings. One thing that I do is not eating, or snacking in front of the TV. I read once that if you do, psychologically, every time you sit in the front of the TV, you associate it with eating. That has always worked for me.
There's definitely truth to the whole association thing.
Thanks for all you do!
Thanks Steve! Great content as always!❤
I still absolutely hate shorts that clog up my feed and make it hard to find the content I want. I have unsubscribed from channels due to the constant flow of them. I wish UA-cam would separate them in some way or at least let you filter them out of your feed for those of us who don’t want another TikTok/instagram replacement. I understand that you need to do what you need to do to promote your channel though and hope you get the results you are looking for. Great comments and advice on cravings and 100% spot on in my experience.
Great comments on managing cravings!
Thanks for your down to earth advice.
You are right about the cravings! You’re great! Thanks!
Happy to have helped with your channel uptick :)! Binging will continue 😎. Thanks
I had no idea about the Amazon links. Your channel is great and extremely informative.
Thanks Steve.
I'm so glad you spoke about your tricks for cravings. I'm definitely going to use some of them and see if I can cut back on my incessant snacking! ❤
Love your stuff! Thank you
Hey Steve! Always good to see and hear you ❤️ thank you for the craving tips
Always look forward to seeing you on Monday mornings!
Thank you for the tips on cravings.
Aloha from Hawaii Steve! Thanks for the tip for Choc Zero. I love the stuff and keep it right next to my sofa. It’s moving outside today. 😊
Congrats on the 300K! It will happen!!! Cravings: After eating a "forbidden" snack or candy, I realize it wasn't all that! Keep getting back on the wagon! Don't give up!
It never tastes as good as we remember it, does it?
Thanks for the tip about the Amazon link.👍
Thanks for your hard work
Boy, are you correct on the simple carbs...your hunger doesn't stop!!!
Can’t wait to hear your total vs net carb lesson
I promise to do better when ordering from Amazon. I order EVERYTHING from Amazon and never thought to click on your links for other stuff. When Amazon stopped giving my purchases to charity I stopped caring about links unless someone specifically posted something. I will do better because I love your channel and I'm a fellow Wisconsinite. 😀
Cheeseheads unite!
Keep the videos coming Steve
I always look forward to enjoying your podcast. thanks for all of the great content; it's really helpful.
Congratulations on your milestone of 300K 🎉
Thanks for this timely video. One of my cravings is chocolate. I love Lily’s Dark Chocolate Baking Chips. When I purchased them today I noted a difference in packaging. Now they’re called Dark Chocolate Style Baking Chips. The ingredients have also changed to include Palm Kernel and Palm oils. I called the company and they confirmed the change. I voiced my concern about the product change and she said she would forward my concerns. If anyone else would like to call the company, they were friendly and answered the call quickly. I found the number online.
Palm (fruit) oil is a great fat. The issue is whether it's harvested sustainably, though. Palm kernel oil, on the other hand, ranks down there with soybean oil on the list of things I try to avoid.
Thanks Steve. I think Colton would say 300,000 giveaways.😉
I just did a big sigh/exhale there, because I know you’re right. 😉😬
I found the same thing to be true about the peanut butter cups. I vary rarely want/crave anything but protein now. When I am getting hungry it is never for sweets, prefer hard-boiled egg to sugar, never thought that would happen.
Thank you, Steve
Thank you for the wisdom
