- Опубліковано 16 жов 2020
- Hello Darlings! This is the first time I have dyed my own hair with Henna! I decided to give Henna a go since the last time I dyed my hair I had a bit of a reaction to the chemicals....
So, I thought I would bring you along with me on my hair dyeing journey. I know this isn't my usual content but I know it can be helpful for people out there who are thinking about dyeing their hair!
Lots of Love,
Sage xx

I've used henna for years. I'm a natural redhead and it brightens my hair up! I mix a few tablespoons into my shampoo every other week and let it sit while I shave. Henna is my biggest secret that I only share with redheads! 😊 And... Well... Now YOU people.
Hahah! Thanks for sharing! 😘
What happens if it gets on your skin?
@@joeseatat it will stain your skin for a little bit, but it should come out eventually!
@@joeseatat it will come out in a day or 2
@@joeseatat we use henna on our hands and feet in India. Don't worry natural.
This color looks so much richer and a more beautiful shade of auburn than you got with the box dye! You look lovely as a redhead ♥️
I've used henna for the past 4 years and love it. You look lovely.
Wow that’s amazing! Thank you 😊
Wow. That's such a lovely colour. Looks great on you! Amazing that it's natural not chemical.
Thank you! 😊
I AGREE.
omg are you Rachel McAdams in The Notebook???? Stunning sage xxx
Hahahaha aw Lil thank you! She was my red hair inspiration! 😍
Such a lovely deep auburn! I like how thoroughly you research as well. This is the only henna-dyeing video I've seen that doesn't make the process seem overwhelming!
The previous color was also a lovely and authentic-looking lighter red, but the horrid chemicals of the super lightener are just not worth it!
So nice that you've found a safe alternative. I'm curious to see how you'll solve the problem of the roots!
Thank you! I actually thoroughly enjoyed the process of dyeing with Henna, it felt very creative and fun mixing the dye together and applying the cool mixture onto my hair. Yes, definitely not worth it with the chemicals from the other dye, I'll be staying well away from that stuff!
That colour turned out amazing, and with the curls your hair looks simply stunning!
that color is gorgeous!
Thanks so much! X
I want to try henna so bad! Thank you for the tips! I am a natural brunette too with a similar skintone to yours but have always wanted to be a redhead. I have done red highlights but they turned out more burgundy and dark, I just love the more natural colors you've achieved in your videos.
You are welcome, I’m glad I could help! Xx
Idk how I ended up with these videos in my feed but I AM SOOO HAPPY THAT THEY DID!! I AM TOTALLY OBSESSED WITH EVERY SINGLE ONE! And Sage is just adorable! I love everything about these!!🥰
Awh! I’m so happy you are enjoying them! Xx Sending lots of love and wishing you a Merry Christmas! ❤️🎄
That red color is so gorgeous and the best part is it looks like a natural red tone (my favorite!). It looks amazing with your red lipstick and I loved your funny descriptions of the goopy green henna, ha ha.
My grandma used to use this and yes it comes out a beautiful color and it’s beautiful on you!
Lovely Sage , Such fun !!! I have used Henna many times , it reminds me of Lucille Ball and I Love it . Thank you Doll ❤️💕
Love, love, love the color!
Wow! The henna looks gorgeous on you!!! Perfect!
Wow turned out amazing! I love the color! I'm so impressed! Btw I think u r just adorable I just cane across ur 1950s for a week video n I thought it was so cute n brought back so many memories from growing up w my grandma. So cute!
I love golden auburn henna!!! Made my hair the prettiest it’s been in a loooong time... as a natural blonde w a warm skin tone, I thought red would not be good on me but I think it can definitely work for warm light skin, not just cool skin.
First I just want to say you are absolutely BEAUTIFUL and secondly thank you for going step by step and making it easy to understand, your hair looks amazing!!
Thank you so much! 💕
Hey Sage, Love the color! Looks so good on you too. When I was a child, (growing up), my hair was brown. In the summer I would be outside quite a bit and it would get an auburn/reddish color. As I got older, my hair darkened. It turned black. It was always a dark brown anyway, but it darkened to black. Now, I’m salt and pepper. I dyed it for years but I don’t bother anymore. I’m fifty seven, been married for twenty four years. I’ve earned not having to worry so much about my hair. Plus it doesn’t look bad. Enjoyed your video my dear.
❤️💜💚
WOW! Looks amazing on you!
I have used henna for most of my life. You’ll never get the roots to match because if the chemical die you used, but if you add a little indigo to your blend next time, it’ll pull more blue from the lengths and even it out.
You are so cute and wholesome.
Be careful what you put in your hair, it does matter. Hugs
Thank you very much! I know, I am now realising that! 😊x
Such a good color✨
That worked so well! It looks natural and beautiful!
Thanks! 😊
May I say that you have beautiful hair and you wear it in lovely styles and you are a mistress at making prosaic garments like bras and girdles into perfect feminine adornment. Your sense of what constitutes the fashionable and stylistic is very finely tuned and I am totally enamoured of it.
That hair color is gorgeous, especially on you!
Thank you so much! Xx 💕
My hair used to be that color naturally. Thanks for sharing this video.
My aunt had long long henna dyed hair that was gorgeous and she still covered it in a wig in the 70s
I love using henna! 🌿
I used henna often in the mid 60s. it looked like that, exactly. I haven't seen it in years and years. I had brown hair but am gray gone blonde now.
The color turned out very nice & looks great on you. Never use a box dye. I have always had better luck getting color etc from a beauty supply store. Much easier on you & your hair.
Great video! I have been dying my hair red and dressing vintage for about 10 years. A few years ago I started using Lush henna a few years ago. A little more expensive but makes my hair really shiny and a deeper more vibrant red. Many people comment on how great my hair looks. Its also good because it doesn't require colour development time! I use glad wrap and a scarf, then sit outside in the Australian sun to keep it warm while on my hair.
Oh that’s a great idea going out in the sun! I’ll have to try that 😊 Thank you so much for watching! ❤️
It's beautiful ❤️ that color suits you!!
Thank you! 💞
I will try Henna in the next few weeks, and I'm quite bit frightened acutely. But luckily Roots wont be much of an issue at first
At 6 feet 5 (196cm) most will not see it
This color is amazing on you!
Thank you! X
Welcome to the Henna-Squad 🤗 This color looks very nice on you! 💕
Also the coloring process looks so easy and effortless on you. I've tried it once on my own and...well... Maybe it's a bit more easy with shorter hair than with almost waist long hair 🙈 But hey, it's a good workout for the arms 💪😊
Thanks so much! 💕 Hahaha it sounds like a huge arm workout with waist length hair! 😂
I love using henna! I gives such a beautiful natural looking color. ❤️ I did find it to be a bit drying when I used it though so I liked to add an egg in for a bit of moisture.
Oh that’s a great idea! 💕
This color suits you! I love it!
Thank you!! xx
Amazing!
Gorgeous color! And your hair looks so healthy and shiny. What do you do to care for it after the fact to help it last? I’ve used henna once before, but it washed out super quickly
Beautiful❤️
It was very well done for your first attempt. To get a deeper red tone wash off the goop without shampoo and lots of water when dry apply coconut oil or any preferred hair oil for a day or two, When you wash your hair with shampoo on 2nd or third day, your hair will feel very nourished and the color too will darken a lot more. This is very common all over India as they get the fresh henna leaves easily.
Thank you for this !!!
You're so welcome! xx
I LOVE YOUR NEW HAIR COLOR!!! IT'S GORGEOUS!!! 😊 I just went from deep burgandy brown to medium burnett. I use the Ion hair products. USA product sold at Sally Beauty supply. I would like to try henna. Thank you for sharing! Nice to have natural choices for beauty supplies. God bless! From Ohio, USA.
Thank you so much!! ❤️💞
You have to grow henna out before you other dyes. The henna looks beautiful color. Love your videos.❤
MARAVILHOSA.......ESPETACULAR...........INCRÍVEL........
What shade of red did you order? It’s so beautiful!
I find it takes 1 to 2 weeks for it to develop fully and to finish sinking into your hair strands.
Wow😮 so beautiful😍
Thank you 😊
Omg it looks so beautiful, but I have to ask, where do you got pure cassia? I just can't find it >.
what are you doing about the roots? I have the same problem. My hair was bleach/dyed previously. I want to dye my roots with pure henna and dye the rest with henna and indigo to get a darker red overall. On the bleached hair it just will not become any darker than that bright henna.
What are your plans?
Hello!
What did you end up using on your roots to get them to match? Are you still using henna? 🤗
So if i so not bleach my hair and leep using red henna will it become as red as this eventually?? (I an a brunette myself)
Red hair color is so natural looking when you use henna.
It's a beautiful colour which really suits you,
I am a natural redhead, but have recently started getting grey hairs🙈
I tried box dye but it burns my scalp, so I turned to henna, I love the colour and experience, but I got the bonvit brand, and later found out they use metallic salts and picramate, so I just ordered myself some henna moon, pure henna powder to try, I am very happy and grateful I found your video,
Thank you🙂🌈❤️
Thank you so much! I’m so glad I could help! 🌹xxx
I love your cute overalls and shirt! Did you make the overalls?
I didn’t make them, I bought them from an Australian brand called Princess Highway 😊
Your base hair was ver light it help a lot
Unfortunately I can’t use henna becouse red doesn’t suit my skin tone and I am desperate to find something that would at least mask my gray roots for a while until I get my hair dyed in the salon. I can’t dye it that often becouse it is very expensive and my roots show up very soon. Besides my hairdresser is very hard to find mos of the time which makes it difficult for me to get my hair done very often.
I would leave it gray but I am young and my husband doesn’t like it…my natural color before loosing it was dark blonde with golden highlights… does anyone know of something that would work..? i tried those root touch up sprays but I hate them, they don’t work for me and then you get the product everywhere…
Love your hair! How do you style it to get those curls at the very end of the video? :)
Thank you very much! I curl my hair with foam rollers to achieve that vintage brush out 😊
Yeah! She also has a video on how she curls her hair: I'll link it here
ua-cam.com/video/PTaWQ5Cerh8/v-deo.html
(Don't worry it's not a fake or scam link I promise that would be awful)
Looks great. Did you find a solution for your roots?
Yes I did! I’ll have to make an updated video now, showing how I fixed it!
@@SageLilleyman cool I look forward to it.
Can you please tell why did you added acv and tea in heena?
Acidity activates the colour in henna which is why I used ACV and I used chamomile tea as that has a very natural lightening effect on the hair. That’s why I used chamomile tea instead of plain boiling water. XX
@@SageLilleyman Thank you for the reply ❤
You're the CUtest. And, 🤣🤣🤣the frenchman...I can't. "An eternity later"...I about busted a gut!
After your other video the second one of this I read an article that said that if you tried dying your hair with regular hair dye with the chemicals after doing henna your hair get cut on flames and it freaked me out. I don't really have plans to dye my hair with chemicals it's why I was looking at this one. I was hoping that I can find a more natural way to dye my hair so that I won't mess with the progress of my restoring my hair. I have not dyed my hair in years. Do you know if this method is safe to use without damaging your hair? Is it really natural? I also heard that since it's a permanent dye in my stay in your hair for a while and I will just fade but not completely go away. Is that true?
Hahah I know I’ve read about the flames and green hair on the internet too! 😂 that only happens when the ammonia from box dyes is mixed with the chemicals in a “henna dye”. So if you are using pure henna there is absolutely no reaction! So it should be safe if you use the correct henna. 😊 Yes, I have heard that it is a very permanent dye and does take a while to completely come out of your hair. But personally because I’m not planning on changing my hair colour anytime soon, it’s no problem! 💕
I hope this helps xx
@@SageLilleyman I hadn't heard about the green hair lol thanks for the help 🥰 btw love your accent!
@@kimmiekay456 hehe thanks!
UA-camr Rachel Maksy does her roots with a box dye the day before she does henna so her roots get done too. She has a video on it if that helps you
Yes I love Rachel Maksy! I have watched her video on hair dying too :)
👋👍🤗🥰
With this hair color, you look like Amy Adams 😍
Hey Sage! Just discovered your channel recently and I am in love, have subscribed! Just have to point out that henna is used in South Asian traditions and in the middle east and has religious and cultural links for South Asians like myself and it's a liiiiiiitle bit offensive to us having to hear people say it looks like poo. Myself and lots of other people I know get mocked for our use of henna "it looks like poo on your hands" or similar to the comment you made. I absolutely do not think you said it to be offensive. Having seen your videos, you definitely do not come across like someone who would in any way intentionally or unintentionally want to offend anyone but definitely maybe not describe it in that way in the future 😬
Love love love your content and I hope this comment doesn't upset you in any way, totally not my intention. Your hair looks GORGEOUS! ❤️
Oh my goodness, I am so sorry!! I absolutely did not mean to offend anyone or anyone’s culture! Thank you for sharing your opinion and being so lovely about it. I really appreciate your honesty. ❤️ Sending lots of love xxx
@@SageLilleyman Lots of love back to you too! 😘xxx

There's no chemicals in henna
Cassia is cinnamon. The only reason I know that is because I'm deathly allergic
Never leave henna for more than 1 or at the max 1and 1/2 hour. Henna dries up so your hair gets entangled and breaks easily. As mentioned here henna dries your hair we shld oil them aftr wash. Keep it for few hours or for a day and wash
lol.. baby poo
amazing how red hair on girls can be beautiful...but on boys is super geeky, no way round it, haha
