  • Hello Darlings! This is the first time I have dyed my own hair with Henna! I decided to give Henna a go since the last time I dyed my hair I had a bit of a reaction to the chemicals....
    So, I thought I would bring you along with me on my hair dyeing journey. I know this isn't my usual content but I know it can be helpful for people out there who are thinking about dyeing their hair!
    Lots of Love,
    Sage xx

    I've used henna for years. I'm a natural redhead and it brightens my hair up! I mix a few tablespoons into my shampoo every other week and let it sit while I shave. Henna is my biggest secret that I only share with redheads! 😊 And... Well... Now YOU people.

    Such a lovely deep auburn! I like how thoroughly you research as well. This is the only henna-dyeing video I've seen that doesn't make the process seem overwhelming!
    The previous color was also a lovely and authentic-looking lighter red, but the horrid chemicals of the super lightener are just not worth it!
    So nice that you've found a safe alternative. I'm curious to see how you'll solve the problem of the roots!

      Thank you! I actually thoroughly enjoyed the process of dyeing with Henna, it felt very creative and fun mixing the dye together and applying the cool mixture onto my hair. Yes, definitely not worth it with the chemicals from the other dye, I'll be staying well away from that stuff!

    Hey Sage, Love the color! Looks so good on you too. When I was a child, (growing up), my hair was brown. In the summer I would be outside quite a bit and it would get an auburn/reddish color. As I got older, my hair darkened. It turned black. It was always a dark brown anyway, but it darkened to black. Now, I’m salt and pepper. I dyed it for years but I don’t bother anymore. I’m fifty seven, been married for twenty four years. I’ve earned not having to worry so much about my hair. Plus it doesn’t look bad. Enjoyed your video my dear.

    I have used henna for most of my life. You’ll never get the roots to match because if the chemical die you used, but if you add a little indigo to your blend next time, it’ll pull more blue from the lengths and even it out.

    Great video! I have been dying my hair red and dressing vintage for about 10 years. A few years ago I started using Lush henna a few years ago. A little more expensive but makes my hair really shiny and a deeper more vibrant red. Many people comment on how great my hair looks. Its also good because it doesn't require colour development time! I use glad wrap and a scarf, then sit outside in the Australian sun to keep it warm while on my hair.

    It was very well done for your first attempt. To get a deeper red tone wash off the goop without shampoo and lots of water when dry apply coconut oil or any preferred hair oil for a day or two, When you wash your hair with shampoo on 2nd or third day, your hair will feel very nourished and the color too will darken a lot more. This is very common all over India as they get the fresh henna leaves easily.

    Unfortunately I can’t use henna becouse red doesn’t suit my skin tone and I am desperate to find something that would at least mask my gray roots for a while until I get my hair dyed in the salon. I can’t dye it that often becouse it is very expensive and my roots show up very soon. Besides my hairdresser is very hard to find mos of the time which makes it difficult for me to get my hair done very often.
    I would leave it gray but I am young and my husband doesn’t like it…my natural color before loosing it was dark blonde with golden highlights… does anyone know of something that would work..? i tried those root touch up sprays but I hate them, they don’t work for me and then you get the product everywhere…

    After your other video the second one of this I read an article that said that if you tried dying your hair with regular hair dye with the chemicals after doing henna your hair get cut on flames and it freaked me out. I don't really have plans to dye my hair with chemicals it's why I was looking at this one. I was hoping that I can find a more natural way to dye my hair so that I won't mess with the progress of my restoring my hair. I have not dyed my hair in years. Do you know if this method is safe to use without damaging your hair? Is it really natural? I also heard that since it's a permanent dye in my stay in your hair for a while and I will just fade but not completely go away. Is that true?

    • @SageLilleyman
      @SageLilleyman  3 роки тому +3

      Hahah I know I’ve read about the flames and green hair on the internet too! 😂 that only happens when the ammonia from box dyes is mixed with the chemicals in a “henna dye”. So if you are using pure henna there is absolutely no reaction! So it should be safe if you use the correct henna. 😊 Yes, I have heard that it is a very permanent dye and does take a while to completely come out of your hair. But personally because I’m not planning on changing my hair colour anytime soon, it’s no problem! 💕

    Hey Sage! Just discovered your channel recently and I am in love, have subscribed! Just have to point out that henna is used in South Asian traditions and in the middle east and has religious and cultural links for South Asians like myself and it's a liiiiiiitle bit offensive to us having to hear people say it looks like poo. Myself and lots of other people I know get mocked for our use of henna "it looks like poo on your hands" or similar to the comment you made. I absolutely do not think you said it to be offensive. Having seen your videos, you definitely do not come across like someone who would in any way intentionally or unintentionally want to offend anyone but definitely maybe not describe it in that way in the future 😬
