    But it is normal for henna to make your hair darker and darker with each application. Because it overcoats your hair and doesn’t penetrate it like chemical dyes. If you want to make hair color less intense, you have to soak your hair in olive or coconut oil for several nights, it will get slightly lighter.

      I used henna for years and would bleach my roots, put the henna on bam perfect matching colour. I also hate when you have a band of colour in the hair, drives me insane. Also she could have easily bleached that henna out. I've also used the brown henna and with both colours I've never had a problem getting them straight out or maybe I'm just lucky.

  • @the_endling
    @the_endling 3 роки тому +365

    When you first applied henna your hair was platinum white, which is why it was lighter. I suppose your roots are brown? That explains why it was darker at your roots. In reality, since Henna does not lighten hair, you would have had to bleach your roots and then apply henna.. Hope it makes sense 😅

    What I love about henna is how the colour never looks flat, but has natural differences in shades and tones through the hair. I personally stopped because it stains a little when wet, and I love being in the rain, so my clothes kept getting stained.

    • @vaiduliuke
      @vaiduliuke 2 роки тому +9

      @@amiraayachi5721 From my experience, I would say it depends on the kind of henna you buy. I had some that stained even a couple weeks after dying (and I wash my hair daily), but I also used some that stopped staining less than a week after. Also, even when it stained, it was not a lot, I never noticed it in a swimming pool. Maybe if you wear white swimwear, and the wet hair constantly touches the fabric, it might stain the material?
      R.I.P. to my white pillow cases though, I have a bad habit of sometimes going to bed with slightly damp hair.

    Yes,, this is true; if you want to go LIGHTER you cannot use henna because it is a stain, like tea. But after years of conventional chemical dyes, damage to my fine hair, and then to only have it fade to brassiness within two weeks after having it dyed red, I tried henna. It is THE BEST for ALL other colors besides blonde. Brown, red, black mixtures of both-and just as you describe, it leaves your hair softer and shinier. Even better condition than hair that is never colored. I use Light Mountain brand. Thank you for your honesty.

    hey courtney! i just wanted to thank you for how much you’ve helped me. i completely ruined my hair because of my emotional issues to the point i had to shave it all off last year. as my hair grew out, i messed up and bleached it during a breakdown and decided that was it for me. i dyed my hair with red chemical dye and hoped for the best. then, same thing happened and i bleached it again. around this time your “removing henna” video came out at the start of quarintine. that’s when i decided that i’m going to follow your videos step by step because my goal is long, thick healthy hair and copper is my favourite color on me. thanks to you, i hve the prettiest red color ever. i ordered from henna sooq and i’m so happy. i’ll give it three years till i remove it probably, but like you said as well- i need to learn self care and patience. i’m really grateful for all your henna videos they’ve really helped me so so so much. i love golden tones and i love bouncing back from blonde and red but i’m gunna stick it out with the permanence of henna and finallt have long hair again. i’m scared for it to get really dark but i’ll definitely refer back to you videos when that time comes ❤️ thanks again for everything

      Oh I’m so proud of you!! If coloring your hair was an impulsive issue at all for you like it was for me, having the henna will definitely help you to breathe through that and find other ways to cope with those emotions. Because unlike regular dye, it will take you weeks, even months to remove the henna. You can’t be impulsive, it forces patience and it was soo beneficial in that way! If you find yourself feeling that way at all with the henna, try doing an Ayurvedic treatment instead! Hennasooq has so many, and on their youtube channel they have a lot of DIY Ayurvedic hair masks, that will give you something to do during that “craving” (for a lack of a better word lol). Anyway, you got this! I can’t wait for you to enjoy that beautiful healthy hair 🦋💙

    I want to say, you truly helped me dye my hair with henna a few years ago, I remember writing you a comment in the middle of dying my hair , i got nervous cause it seemed like my hair was turning green but it wasnt and you were so nice to respond right away Im so glad I did it and I am still doing it and I dont plan on stopping. I feel like red hair is my identity now and I still feel its your identity too :p I think of you as someone with red hair. So thank you for all your insight on henna and red hair. You inspired me to actually get on this journey and I have no regrets. I still love seeing your hair updates, even when you do other colors. My only problem with henna is that its very messy, I have to clean my bathroom everytime after I use it, which is kind of exhausting, but I think its worth it. I know you say your hair got darker over time and I noticed yours did, I think it was cause you colored your roots often so the color was overlapping. I dye my roots like every 3 months or so, I havent had a problem with it getting darker unless I leave it on for too long. If that happens, I just use a lightening spray on my roots and the problem is fixed. Sorry for the long comment :D Love you

    henna is a blessing for people who are set for more permanent solutions. and yes, you can actually get more than just one color and no, not all toning hennas include chemicals, it can be plant-based natural coloring as well. it just takes changing your usual habits a bit and a bit more maintenance. also if you are experiencing a dry effect after using henna, there are a few things to help with that. first, take your time rinsing the hair properly, you might spend 20-30 minutes under the shower. second, get yourself a rich moisturizing hair mask and apply it after you have the shampoo and let it sit in the hair as per instructions, same for conditioner, be generous. that is really all, it took some time experimenting with the masks, but moisturizing oil-based masks tend to work the best.

    I've used henna for many years, no regrets. I like how it doesn't leave a dramatic grow out line on me because the freshest layer, at the roots, does seem to fade a little, which in my case makes it look fine for a long time. (obviously that wouldn't be true if your color change is dramatic) Because the ends don't really fade much after several layers, I only dye my roots most of the time. I have never wanted to lighten my hair in my entire life, and I'm 32, so I doubt I will regret henna. It is definitely the only dye I would use because it's the only dye that doesn't weaken the hair.

    Thank you for sharing this video ! I have been removing some henna that I did to my hair about 3 months ago ! It was from Henna Guys in Medium Brown over a level 4 neutral brown...my hair is just shy of dark blonde now and after doing several citric acid and shampoo treatments I'm soon going to be doing color remover and *hopefully* bleach my roots ! I only ever dyed it once with the henna and found it to be a HUGE commitment ! I think 3 years of henna is amazing ! your hair looked great in all of your shots :) I'm glad you've found something that works for you ! I am hoping to crawl back to blonde and just stay there for a bit :)

    Wow, you looked great in every single color!
    I was a bright orange redhead for 6 years, and tried henna at some point. The color was too diluted for my taste, but I was happy with the treatment it gave my tresses. I have been a "silver fox" for the last 3 years, even used silver henna to tone it, and it was awesome! Now that I'm back into the natural colors, I'm looking for a solution that's coppery brown just like my dye. What plans did you mix in order to get different colors? I believe I might need to mix light brown and copper now, but I'm a bit lost, haha.

    I stopped using henna because I had to always dye my dark roots blonde first with bleach then put the henna on top in order for it to all be that even copper/ginger colour. ( My hair was peroxide blonde when I started using henna, I loved it so much but it's counter productive do ruin my hair with peroxide/bleach first to then use henna on top). I agree with you though, henna is absolutely wonderful and if you have naturally light hair and want it a beautiful ginger colour I highly suggest you use it. I used the caca rouge from lush. Remember though it is hard to remove. It doesn't wash out.

    Hey, if u want to mantain the copper without damaging it you can use semi permanent orange dye, like arctic fox manic panic etc, u just mix a tiny bit with a lot of conditioner and you are all set. If you are worried about getting clown orange you can mix a little bit of purple into the mix and that will tone it down (look up arctic fox's copper formula)
    Hope this helps! Coming from another ex platinum blonde that's now a redhead ;)

    Hair has always been a battle with me. I like it long, but it gets so brittle and damaged anywhere past my collarbones that it's not even worth it (which sucks. I don't use ANY heat on my hair and I've never colored or bleached it either so idfk what I did to deserve this DX). I also LOVE red hair, and I think it would really suit me (a darker, burgundy sort of red. I don't want my hair to be too bright). I'm going to be ordering some henna soon and trying it out. I'm not usually the type to want a drastic change, but it's something I've wanted to do for years and never got around to. I'm glad you enjoyed it while it lasted! I'm looking forward to the red shades in my hair and the stronger strands. I don't think I'd suit light hair and I don't feel the urge to change my hair super often, so I think henna hair dye is exactly what I'm looking for. Healthy reddish hair, here I come!!!

    I agree with everything you said. My hair was the thickest, longest, and strongest for the five years I used henna. But I couldn't deal with the fire any longer. I wanted something more natural. So it took me a year and a half to get it out. Now it's blonde. Too blonde. I want it more of a light brown, and I've developed an allergy to chemical dye. So . . . I'm going back down the natural path! But I'm treading lightly. My goal is light brown, not red, so I'm mixing cassia with a small bit of henna, indigo, and amla until I get the color I want. Wish me luck. :)

    Lol I hennaed my own hair during covid. I had kept my hair very long and very blonde and it had been months since I could go to the salon and this point and I figured well maybe I can even out the hennaed between my naturally dark blonde roots and level 9 ends lol the answer to that was no the henna came out super orange on my ends and I really liked it but I needed it to tone down a little so after two weeks I hennaed it a second time and again loved the beautiful vibrant colour on the bleached portions of my hair but my roots were a very very dark brownish colour that only picked up a hint of red in direct lighting. So by this point I started trying to remove henna and this was around the time I saw your videos about removing it. I tried using colour removers (the ones without bleach) and it really got a lot out but then my hair was just pretty scraggly looking so I cut it super super short and then after the cut I decided to try to bleach it and ended up with yellow hair and orange streaks throughout and pretty fried hair which I then left alone for a month before getting another cut and having a professional fix my hair colour lol
