  • I now have a video up with the B bank done, and a download for all 128! : • Deepmind 12 // Solina ...
How to install : • Deepmind // How to Ins...
This is my attempt to give the Deepmind better starting points for working out new sounds, 1-1 through 8-8 of the original Juno 106 factory sounds.
I don't think these sounds are revolutionary, but they're clever, unique, and musical.
    Download here :
**I've updated the link to be 'Pay what you want, with a minimum of 0$, anything higher is totally optional, and totally appreciated.
    jorb.gumroad.com/l/pFLXiz
Not casting these as perfect recreations, but I certainly am proud of how they ended up.
The "Juno Default" patches have only a saw tooth, no velocity sensitivity, the LFO's are mono phase, frequency and pitch mod are both pointed to LFO 1, routed through the mod wheel, and there is a chorus set up in effects that just needs to be switched off of 'Bypass'.
There might be some volume variance, watch your VCA level. Another tip, the high pass filter is in play a lot more than I expected, check that as you work through sounds.
    Fine tune, and enjoy.

The amount of work that it probably took to emulate EVERY last one of the presets on the JUNO 106, JX3P, and the PolySix, and to do it 100% for free???? It just blows my mind that you could be this hardworking, so competent, and yet this generous.
On this day 07.08.2023, I traded a bunch of gear I had and traded in for a deepmind12d and I tell you, you were one of the biggest reasons I did so! I hope your patches color most of mine (and other people's songs) from now on. Even though you advertise these as free presets, it doesn't feel right to download them without at least paying a couple dozen doubloons.
Thanks again for the effort! I just wanted to comment and say that you really are one of a kind youtuber. I really do wish you success and happiness in all your endeavors.

The Deepmind is very close to the 106, I like it being modernised though. I had a 106, and thought many of the presets were great, although I often tweaked 'em. This is such a service making them available to DM owners!

I really like my DM6, but most of the factory patches are imho way too overloaded. Ok, this might be to showcase the synth, I guess. But your Juno patches are just beautiful. They have colour and character without all the bling bling. Love it, great work!

Thank you for bringing sanity to the Deepmind. Apart from anything else these demonstrate the wonderful variety that can be conjured from a rather straightforward subtractive synth - far better than the Behringer factory presets.

There are few keepers in those factory presets, but not many. I appreciate that we have so much room in the Deepmind, compared to old synths, but I wish it had even more room for so many great sounds.

Impressive amount of work! You really seem to be a pretty top notch sound designer. I wish I knew how to "cook" patches as well as you. I'm a classically trained pianist, so PLAYING is no problem. But having an idea of a synth sound in my head and getting there on the synth is a whole other skill!

Cant wait to get my DM 12D I just ordered, and try out these patches. I’m creating a analog synth collection and i ordered a DM because often I reach for the Juno virtual instruments for my music (Arturia, Roland Cloud, the Syntronic Patches.) I hope I’m not disappointed using the DM next to my Prophet 6, and Minilogue.

So useful thanks dude. I got my deepmind last week, and as a guitarist needless to say I find it a little overwhelming sometimes. Not that its overly complicated, I actually think its pretty intuitive, but it can be a little like going into a store that sells everything with 1000 dollars, ADHD and not sure of what you want. I usually end up down a rabbit hole of sounds far from where I wanted to be. I'm learning though. These patches will help greatly, cheers pal.

I do not own a 106 nor a 12D, however, I donated a buck to you and stashed the patches, because if everyone who grabs the patches gives a buck, you'll have some bucks! and you've convinced me to my Juno money and buy a 12D! Hi Jorb thanks for your views on music gear - you do love it! I am an older musician still performing and am always trying to refine my set up mainly for live. I have loads of computer generated stuff for studio work. My opinions are only my opinions. In the 70’s I had classic gear such Wurlitzer EP, Logan string synth, Clavinet, Korg 700s, Hammond etc . All these instruments are pure analog maybe not perfect but I can remember the sheer weight of power they could bring to a stage. I tried polysynths in my budget eg Poly6 but when the Juno 60 came out I could hear some potential. I spent hours programming it and it became a monster. When the 106 came out I thought it was going to be a MIDI capable 60, so I just bought one. No matter what I did I could not get the 106 to match the wonderful power and clarity of the 60 so I sold it and kept the 60. I the got a JX3p it too even with it’s two oscillators could not match the 60, so that went too. When Korg brought out the DW 8000 I found it very impressive and sounded very fat on stage and complemented the 60. By the 2000’s did not want carry my two Juno 60’s about so I sold them but if I want to get another stage synth I think it will have to be analog. A Deepmind could well do the trick! The Juno X looks great but as a totally digital synth I don’t know if I would become dissatisfied with it like most of my other digital stuff. I think I need gear advice or counciling, perhaps both! Keep up the good work regards Andy

Hi Jorb thank you so much for these fantastic patches and all your work on them. I have just bought these from your link and happy to pay you for your time and effort of course. I only recently picked up a DeepMind 12 and have been blown away by both the quality of the build of the synth for the price but of course the sound is something else! Having only in the past had virtual analogue, apart from a couple of Korg Volca's and had mainly digital synths, the sound of this beast is massive and just so warm and fuzzy, just beautiful. Of course the addition of the multi-FX does help, but the basic sound of the synth without them is also fantastic. Thank you so much for your excellent work on these patches and also your fascinating videos. Loving your work sir!

Excellent work. You should be proud and the recreations are as close as you can get on a DM12. The Juno 106 is, by design, a little bit brighter than the DM12 so the differences I have noticed are mostly about brightness. To resolve that small issue, I use Slate Digital's Fresh Air. It's an aural exciter that brings just enough brightness to make the sound 99.99% perfect. The cool thing is it's free. Also, if the DM12 Chorus is not enough for some, then TAL Chorus LX is a very good alternative because it is based on the Juno's Chorus. Thanks for sharing your patches and again, great work.

When the Deepmind first came out and was described as first starting out as a Juno 106 clone project I was curious how it would ultimately stand up against an original and whether it would fill my desire to get the vintage sound set back. @@JorbLovesGear I think you messed up because the Juno-106 shouldn't sound like that if it was in stereo. Most likely, you accidentally set the mixer channel in mono.
But on a positive note, I'm a big fan of chorus in mono. The Juno-106 sounds excellent in mono, I come back to this video every now and then just to listen to how great the Juno-106 sounds! :)

I'm new to all this synthesizer stuff and when I download Juno Presets, it is downloaded as an "syx" file and I can't open it with any program.
How do I make it into a file that is "drag-able" for the Deepmind 12 app?
You mention an editor program for syzex files but when I enter the link, I don't know which one to download.

Hi Jorb, adore you channel. Informative & intelligible,
Can the Deepmind replicate the Jupiter 4 or 8?
You’ve probably been asked this already. Your Juno patches are fantastic. I’m considering selling my JU-06 & JU-06A due to the patch quality.
Some Jupiter patches would be impressive. A full Jupiter patch bank would be a realised pipe dream.
I’m looking forward to the Behringer Jupiter clone however wouldn’t the Deepmind have the tools & power to create a Jupiter replicant?
I have a JP-08 however the voices are limited. It’s a good boutique & I enjoy working it but a 6 or 12 voice Deepmind modern analogue replica would be glorious.
Thank You for your first class work.

@@JorbLovesGear it would be groovy to even create patches just close to the Jupiter 4 or 8.
I wouldn’t expect the precise Juno or JX-3P type patches you already created. However Jupiter sounds would be just another fantastic Deepmind incentive.

      You must be busy.

Well first this is amazing. My issue is not with deepmind, Here's the situation: I have a vintage Juno 106, I am the original owner, taken care of, exterior is cherry condition- perfect! Just had it serviced, replaced all DCO and voice chips due to the epoxy problems. Dont know what the technician did but all factory recorded voices have been hosed. I can save alterations but it is a huge advantage to start w the factory presets. My question is "is there any way to to a factory reset for this old-tech board?" - I see the work you did for Deepmind and that is amazing - can you tell me if the banks you made can be loaded into the original 106? I dearly want to get my old machine back up and running... wah, any advice?

Nice. Get my Deep Mind on Monday, and while I never really use Factory presets - these are very useable as a start point. DM will partner a Virus Ti2, Peak, and a Fantom 7 keyboard. I have "740mm" of space left, and dont know what to add..... Advice? OB6 for a VCO? TR8s for drum machine? digitakt or beatstep for a sequencer? Could do with all 3 but space is limiting. I COULD go Tr6s AND Digitakt AND OB6..... Just (Digitakt and TR6s one behind the other as I have 410mm depth) .... hum.

    • @JorbLovesGear
      @JorbLovesGear  3 роки тому

If I were you I would lean towards what jobs aren't filled, and sounds like you're short on drum machines. Then within that category, find out what fits your needs best.
I liked the digitakt, but it didn't ever blow me away, and that's not the experience most people have with it.
No time with any tr8 / 8s, but they're well received as well.

@@JorbLovesGear yeh.... I do have drum machine and sequencer capabilities - as my 2 "keyboards" are a Roland RD2000 and Fantom 7. The Fantom has both. Its not real time manipulation like the TR is, and while the sequencer can do external instruments - its very "abalton" like which isnt really how like to work. I can of course use my DAW (Studio one 4) but I like to work away from the PC where I can. Im more a live player - sio having real time manipulation is what I like... One reason for the DM/Virus/Peak instead of doing it all in the box on the Fantom. As I said - If I can live without the higher track count and real time "performance" of the TR8s - I could fit the TR6s AND Digitakt AND an OB6......

I gotta say the 106 has more of a dead sound to it... the type of sound you don't really have to mix, 'cause it just sits in place. I got a JV1080 and most of the synth sounds, which is primarily what I use it for, sound quite dead and have this amazing ability of just working with (almost) everything, like a good pair of jeans.
