15 minutes of Deepmind 6 (no talking, just tweaking)

  • From a basic sound to an analog madness in 15 minutes. No editing, no overdubs, no sequencing, just the Deepmind 6. Recorded straight into Zoom H4n Pro. A sustain pedal was used to hold notes and free my hands.
    No EQ or compression were used. All effects are from the Deepmind 6.

    I've had my Deepmind 6 for 5 years now and I'm still impressed by just how good it sounds. It easily competes with $3,000+ Sequential synths. It sounds just as rich and organic to my ears. Amazing synth.

      @@lava2471 I have a 6 and it doesn't usually cross my mind all that much. 6 voices are great for what i Need it for. I can get it though if you're a piano player and you don't want to be limited in any fashion though. I started with the Minilogue and I did find 4 voices to be quite limiting... I make house music and the deepmind is PERFECT for those swirling lush organic pads and textures I need sometimes in the back of my mixes...

      Sure. I don’t know why it’s a competition though, the DM sells very well, and people enjoy it. If some clowns tell you it’s not as good, who cares. As owner of a DM12, a Pro 2 and a Prophet X, I’d simply say the DM is just deliciously different. Especially with such great on-board effects, it’s kind of apples and oranges. I find the DM has a clean clear precise sound closer to a Roland of course, with whatever crazy effects you choose… while the Prophet X has a kind of weight and chunkiness to it that is just different. Especially different is the resonance, as Roland-style filters have a very different sound than Sequential (and Oberheim in the case of the Pro 2). It’s great to have access to different instruments, if every synthesizer sounded the same it’d be pretty boring! Enjoy what you enjoy!
      Extra bonus that the DM12 is so inexpensive.

    Really lovely sounds and tweaking!! Great use of the arpeggiator, it's great to see the potential there. What a great demo - appreciate you making this. This synth can clearly create very lovely soundscapes all on it's own, I could listen to this for hours!

    Best synth Behringer has ever made, I wish they’d drop some more resources into making original synths like this, they are clearly very good at it. Not that it isn’t great to have a 2600 which sounds pretty close to the original for 1/10 the cost. Just think they could really do something unique if they continued more in this vein. Making new designs inspired by what they’ve learned from the older ones.

    • @KingCrimson82

      wish they turned the 2600 into a paraphonic semi clone with a few "modern" features

      It is a pad I've made mixing a saw wave + a sqare wave with variable pulse width. The secret is using tiny amounts of lfo to modulate everything you can. It will sound unstable, vintage and fat.

    • @williampaivaoficial
      @williampaivaoficial  11 місяців тому +3

      No, you can't because this synth is mono timbral. It's engine can generate one sound at the time, so there's no way you can leave onde sound running and play a different sound on the top.

      Hydra Synth seems to me more dreamy and ambient. All guys from M83 are using it live. Deepmind sounds a lot like a Juno: good basses, pads and leads, ranging from soft to aggressive.

    Is this keyboard good for Trance music?

    • @williampaivaoficial
      @williampaivaoficial  Рік тому +6

      This synth is excellent for bass, pads, arpeggios, fx, sweeps, etc. But most trance riffs are made using a special type of oscillator called "super saw". It consists on several saw waves stacked on the top of each other, slightly detuned. The result is a fat and wide synth sound. This synth CAN produce the super saw but only in unison mode, which means it will work for leads but won't provide enough poliphony for chords.

    Can anyone please enlighten me on the actual Keybed and keys for this synth? Are they generally quiet or clunky on the way up? Are they durable? What are they like for programming drums? I would like to replace my Mopho4X as the controller (the keys are annoying and noisy lol) and looking at options. This DM has great sounds like the early Rolands.

      I've not played a vast number of keyboards, but they feel good to me. Think you'd have to be a proper snob to complain.
      In terms of noise, I get complaints from downstairs even with headphones in from the clunking.
      Not had problems with durability over the past year, but the first one they sent was a lemon. One key had infinite release for some reason.

    • @williampaivaoficial
      @williampaivaoficial  4 місяці тому

      I am not a synth virtuoso who praise Fatar keybeds but these keys ar far the worst among all my synths. They're playable, but feel cheap and noisy.

      sad, i hoped they were a little better. they say halfweighted.. @@williampaivaoficial then again i just have it for chords, a lead melody and sounds.. so everything better than stylophone will do.

    Hi William, I also have a beautiful Deepmind 6. I saw that in your program browse you have different names than the original. Assuming that with the default ones I struggle to associate the sounds they refer to, could you tell me how to have them like yours? Hoping you didn't do it manually :), do you know where I can find a list to rename them? Thank you.

    • @williampaivaoficial
      @williampaivaoficial  5 місяців тому +1

      Hi. I am not sure if I understood your request. The name of the patches on my Deepmind are different because I have programmed each patch from scratch and gave them a name so I could guess who they sound.

    • @pupenoir
      @pupenoir 5 місяців тому

      @@williampaivaoficial Exactly William, thanks, that's what I was interested in knowing. Of course there is a lot of good work behind it. I love Deepmind 6, but the layout of the preset sounds is its weak point in my opinion. It would be nice to have a way to at least share the list of names you have associated for a better and immediate search for preset sounds.

    Can you explain why the deepmind sounds so much more analog and retro in comparison to the minilouge is it maybe because it attracts people with more experience??? that the deepmind crew just records it better, more direct doesnt use mindless ammounts of reverb??? really wonder if the monolouge is so much inferior or just not in the right hands

    • @williampaivaoficial
      @williampaivaoficial  3 місяці тому

      I have always programmed my own patches instead of using presets. Musically speaking, presets are useless and serve only to demonstrate how deep complicated the synthesis of that particular devide can be. Unless you are into FM-style sounds, which are basically the same presets since FM synthesis was invented. Korg's minilogue can generate warm and beautiful sounds, depending on how you program it.
