I saw them on this tour with Whitesnake opening for them . Tommy paid for it after he did his spinning solo . Spinning and being drunk don't mix well . So as soon as it was over his head is down spilling his guts as he is doing the opening drum part for Shout at the Devil.
He is definitely in the Top 5 of my favorite drummers for sure! Saw them live twice. Blew me away! I am almost 53 and I wasn't too into the heavy metal/glam rock. They were impressive though and still are! Much love to you guys✌️❣️
He still does this too don't he? The spinning drums? at his age to this day.... he hasnt even slowed down a step lol. I saw them alot in concert even got back stage once. They're a wild time even after thier prime they rock
Guys, I gotta say something. THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE REACTION CHANNELS ON UA-cam!!!! But I have ONE critique that I sincerely hope you see and take to heart. Though I absolutely LOVE when you stop the video to give commentary on what you like/dislike so far, you MISS special moments in a song sometimes when you start it back where you left off. And as much as you 2 are great at catching the intended feelings of these old school songs, I KNOW YOU and your appreciation for the music would thank me IF YOU TAKE THIS ADVICE (with the utmost respect). YOU GOTTA USE THE 10 SECOND REWIND BUTTON!!! PLEASE , I BEG YOU, utilize this function when doing your reviews. I know you’ll appreciate this. ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR CHANNEL GUYS, KEEP GOING YALL!!!
YES!!! I've requested this song many times. I knew you'd love it, and that Tommy Lee's drum set would blow your mind. I saw them live during this tour, and it was insane!! 🤘😃
The drum kit wasn’t just a stunt for the video either, they did that on at least 2 of their tours. When I saw them it was reserved for Tommy Lee’s drum solo section of the concert. It was completely awesome to see live in concert.
True, but they saw the money that was rolling in from the hair bands, so they brought that look in for a while, especially for their Theater of Pain album. They went through their share of hair spray and makeup during that time. Fortunately, they threw that stuff into the trash bin for their Girls, Girls, Girls album.
@@mdog2560 lol, they did go through their share of hairspray, but hair bands were the record company's attempt to recreate their magic. They got a bit more neon for Theater of Pain, but the sound, hair and makeup were pre-cursors to the hair band scene.
Nah, they were out there at the same time as the other hair bands. They just never really took themselves seriously. The most preachy they got was on their Dr. Feelgood album, but Nikki (the bassist) had just survived a heroin overdose, so you really couldn't blame him. (He wrote a lot of their lyrics.)
I've always considered Motley Crue to be the originators of "hair metal", "glam metal". They literally had tons of bands on the sunset strip that tried to imitate them during the 80's.
Mötley Crüe was all about Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll. No politics, nothing too serious. It was just fun. Also, Mick Mars is one of the most criminally underrated Guitarists ever!
In their last concert run, Tommy's drums came out and over the crowd on real roller-coaster rails, flipping, spinning, etc. It was pretty fun to watch!
Had the pleasure of seeing these guys on the Girls, Girls Girls and Dr. Feelgood Tours in the 80s... nothing quite like the Crue shows in that era... Tommys drum kit on a freaking track rolling across the ceiling of the arena... just killer shows...
Yaaasssss!!! This was such an awesome reaction. The video is a very authentic representation of what we saw in the 80's at a Motley Crue show. There will never be another decade like the 80's when it comes to a show like this.
Yes! Seen them when they were just starting in 81' I've seen Crue over 20x in my life, including Cruefest!! They were the Bad boys of the 80's until GNR ripped a seam into metal bad boys! Wow, good times!! 🤘🎼🎸❤️
Talk about a well oiled machine!!! This song never gets old nor the talent in it!!! This deserves to be played loud every single time!!! How about Tommy Lee on those drums? This was a masterpiece❤
The different drum kits became Tommy’s trademark of sorts. The first one the kit lifted up on a platform so it was at a 90 degree angle with the stage floor, the next was the one in this vid with the rotating cage. With each tour he would get more adventurous. It was crazy!
Saw the Crue multiple times including this tour. Their show was always top notch and when you left, you knew you had been rocked. Fav 80s rock band ever!!
I was traveling with my 5 year old son and this song was in my playlist and when it came on I I heard him start yelling "wild side! wild side!" Even at that age you can't escape the energy this song brings! Great Review you two!
I was a teenager right in the middle of the era. They were a must see. You would come out of the consert so pumped, sweaty, ànd you couldn't hear good for days. So loud. Good times!
I was a 80's kid. Motley Crue was the band to listen to if you were into Hair metal. Best band to come out of that decade. Vocals: Vince Neil Bass: Nikki Sixx Guitar: Mick Mars Drums: Tommy Lee
I saw them in concert back in July and for being nearly 60 years old they are insane still. I couldn’t imagine going to one of their concerts in their prime.
I am a huge Motley Crue fan. My favorite band in the 80s. I've seen them four times. Once they opened for Ozzy and the other three, they were the headliners.
This was my first concert back in 87, I was in 8th grade. I still have a photo album full of pics from it, when they did wildside it lasted like 15 mins with micks solo and tommy's solo in the middle of the song. It was amazing.
The drum set maneuvers began on the Theater of Pain tour with Tommy and kit put up on a 90 degree angle, with him facing downward and the audience looking at the kit like it was on the side of a wall. On the Girls, Girls, Girls tour (the video you just watched) not only did the carriage spin forward and backward, it also rotated left and right. On subsequent tours, there has been a circular roller-coaster, Tommy suspended by cables flying around between suspended drum kits and using industrial tools as percussion instruments, another tour fans got to ride with Tommy on the roller-coaster, on a forgotten tour Tommy did a high production disappearing magic act and lastly, as mentioned below, a fully suspended roller-coaster over the audience. All the theatrics began with Alice Cooper, but Motley Crue started and elevated what could be done on stage.
In 1983 they toured opening for Ozzy in support of their Shout At The Devil album. In 1985 they had their first headlining tour in support of their Theatre Of Pain album. That time they had more money to put together a headline-worthy show. Tommy had a drum platform built that would tilt 90 degrees forward so that the audience could see what he was doing from the “top” while he played his drum solo. This video for Wild Side was recorded during their 1987 tour for their new album that the song was from called Girls, Girls, Girls. They had even more money to spend on the tour production and that time they built the contraption you see here where Tommy would lift up and forward and then rotate forward and backward a complete 360 during his drum solo. Then the tour after that in 1989 for the Dr. Feelgood album he had a drum set on a train track way up in the air and he would do his drum solo while travelling around above the audience. He just kept doing crazier and crazier stuff with his drums every tour. They broke up for a while and got back together in 2005 for a reunion tour and there he had a big roller coaster loop and he spun around while playing the drum solo. And for their “final” tour (where they retired at the end, only to unretire and tour recently with Def Leppard) he took the roller coaster concept even further and had a huge track that went up and down across the length of the whole arena above the audience. Crazy fun stuff. I saw them ten times over the years. Very fun concerts. The only downside was it was a gamble as to whether or not Vince Neil would give a good vocal performance. Sometimes he would but sometimes he would half-ass it. It was a great show when he gave it a good effort, but it was a let down when he didn’t seem to care how well he sang. He had a reputation for that. I was lucky and in the ten times I saw them he only phoned it in once, which was this last tour with Def Leppard in Vancouver. I was disappointed to see that after nine other times being really fun.
@@Nonconformistwilderbeastman The Theatre Of Pain tour was my very first concert. I was fourteen and somehow managed to talk my mom into letting me go to Vancouver by myself to go. We lived in Vancouver Island, so this was a 1/2-hour drive to the ferry, a two-hour ferry ride, and then half an hour on the bus to get into Vancouver. To this day I don’t know how I managed to talk her into letting me go. Hehe. They were so loud my ears rang for three days!
@@traduseuse5895 Ah, cool, I didn’t know that. I only remember hearing about them opening for Ozzy. I don’t know if they came to Vancouver for any Shout touring, but I would’ve been too young to go by myself and I doubt I would’ve been able to talk any of the adults in my life into going to that either. Got 4th row tickets to the Dallas, TX concert for GIRLS, GIRLS, GIRLS July 31st 1990 when Tommy Lee's drum kit lifted up over the stage and turned like it does in the video. It even stopped upside down for a couple of minutes while he played. It was and always will be one of the most rad drum performances of all time. I'll never forget it. Probably my favorite concert.
@ 4:20 was EXACTLY the reaction I was hoping for ! LOL I mean, it's a fantastic song... really almost a three way tie for me, wedged just between my fav "Kickstart My Heart" and "Looks That Kill (with NO DAYLIGHT between them)... but I always watch newbies to this song to look out for Tommy's drum escapade right there ! Phenomenal !
I saw them live when this album come out . They spin him end over end frontwards and backwards. Then rotated him sideways both directions. Very awesome drum kit .
I saw then the last time about 8 years ago and they were STILL rocking, Tommy Lee is an AMAZING drummer and rolling him was crazy 🤪 Motley Crue was always such a good one. Thanks for the share ❤👍💯
I was a metalhead back in the late 80s & early 90s. Although I saw a number of great bands in concert, ironically I never was able to see Mötley Crüe live, to my chagrin. However, I was fortunate enough to meet drummer Tommy Lee outside the legendary Sunset Strip rock club Gazzarri’s (now long-gone but never forgotten; this club had seen bands from the 60s to the 80s rising up through the ranks, from the Doors to Van Halen to the Crüe to Poison to Guns ‘n Roses), after seeing his sister Athena performing drums in an all-girl band called Hardly Dangerous (they were good, too!). Tommy was very gracious and polite and spent time to chat with me and sign an autograph. Great fellow and despite some of the things he’s done over the years that have invited controversy and criticism, he always gets a pass from me. I think it’s awesome that y’all are in this journey of musical discovery and expanding your horizons way beyond what you’ve grown up with. It’s always a joy to accompany you on these trips.
The last Crue concert we were at, Tommy Lee had the entire drum set raised above our heads and it spun multiple times before returning. They put on one hell of a show!
Got a chance to see them in 1990 with Lita Ford. Tommy had his drums set up above us. Crazy but fun. People were literally drenched in their sweat by the end of the concert. Great memories.
There is nothing quite like a Crüe concert! Well, at least older concerts. I have been to around 15 or so. Have never left disappointed. My all-time favorite performance was at the Sunset Strip Music Festival in (2011?) here in LA. They block off a couple blocks of the legendary part of the Sunset Strip right in front of all the iconic bars & music venues, then plopped the stage right in the middle of the street. Their performance was the headline act right after Bush. The stage had a circular rollercoaster to which Tommy's drum set was connected to and he would do loops during the show. It was epic in every sense of the word. Just to see them rocking out on the Strip that they helped make famous... and infamous. I felt spoiled in that moment. And that is exactly how I always remember them. Hard-hitting, no F's given, rockstars that played the hell out of their instruments. It was also before Vince's voice, or lack of wind, started to deteriorate some. But nonetheless, I won't miss an opportunity to see them live when they come here. It is just too much fun.
So glad to got around to this video. This is such an epic video that really captures the essence of Motley Crue live, they put on an insane show every time.
Saw them many years ago for my birthday. Tommy (drummer) was running through the crowd to get to the drums in the ceiling. I grabbed him and his security pushed me. Spilled beer all over me. Best birthday EVER!!!!! 🤘
I have seen Crew over 12 times over the years and they never disapoint. True Vinces voice can't do what he did 30 years ago but they still put on a great show. The best I've seen them was back in Carnival of Sins tour.
Tommy Lee..drummer and director of the band..vince Neil lead voice..nikki six at the guitar..and Mickey mars on the bass..i hope I remembered well ..there you got guys ..thanks for ur reactions
This video was recorded at the Omni in Atlanta Georgia. I was there, it was awesome. No one knew they were going to do the MTV video there until right before the song started.
U should see Tommy's roller coaster drum riser where not only do they flip him upside down he'll rise up over the crowd and goes back about ten rows so everyone can look up at him playing upside down
Was so lucky to get to see this in person back then twice. They were always Fire and their concerts were non-stop heart pounding FUN!!!! Love Motley Crue!❤❤ This was just what I needed to see and hear this evening to get my night kicked off. Love and Hugs.
Motley Crue was the best. My friends met them when they came to town. They were walking outside the hotel room. My friends said they were very down to earth. This is a dark one but he also asks for to b others to pray for those on the wildlife. They sing about the losses and pain on that side. I love when the artist conveys the two opposing sides flipping back and forth.
I LOVE hearing your takes when you pause, but PLEASE rewind 10 seconds when you start back!! I always think “they’re gonna love this!” Then you pause and miss it! Of course, you can’t know it’s a great part because it’s new to you! We just don’t want you missing out on the greatness you are hearing!! LOVE the channel!!!!!!
Exactly 35 years ago this time of year, late summer, was when this video came out. That was a fun time. MTV had a call-in show called "Dial MTV" and this video followed "Girls, Girls, Girls" as a top request, along with some Poison videos, Whitesnake and some others. Girls were playing the "Dirty Dancing" soundtrack. Swatch watches were popular, the Nintendo Entertainment System was on the cusp of really being a part of every household that Christmas and into 1988. The so-called "hair metal" had become mainstream rock.
I think this is undoubtedly the best song by Motley Crue.period!!! It is the quintessential rock and roll slamming you had Tommy going over the crowd in that drum set this was one of the best shows I've ever seen. And yes I was there. That's all I got to say about that.
I went to one of their concerts on this tour & when Tommy Lee spun around on his drums, that whole arena went wild! One of the best concerts I had ever been to! 😁🤘
This was one of the first Motley Crue videos that I ever saw..... over 30 years ago. Thank you for reminding me how it felt to see, hear, experience, and obsess over them for the first time ❤
The bass player, Nikki Sixx writes most of the songs (catchy as hell, right?) And yes, Tommy Lee, the drummer is exceptional. Not only does he spin around but the whole cages moves forward over the stage and first few tows
Couldn’t agree more about the drumming on this song. I love it. I had never heard this song before until I randomly watched a kid do a drum cover and instantly was enthralled!
This was my very first concert ever. This was in Indianapolis, Indiana October 13, 1987. Market Square, Arena and they filmed it for the video I get goosebumps to this day.
Guns n Roses, Motley Crue, Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera, Skid Row, Cinderella, Slaughter, Poison, Warrant, Winger, Scorpions, Ratt, Twisted Sister, Quiet Riot, Styx…the list goes on and on…some of the greatest bands and music ever created.
You guys know how much I love this band. The crue really ROCKS! And the give us super entertainment. Did you notice how the slided on the I in wiiieeld. Big hugs! 😎
This vid came out before you could rewind TV, so you can imagine this one got requested and watched over and over again just for the Drum spin!! Was so cool!! Not the best humans, but certainly great showman! I am a harsh critic, but you can't take that away from them how fun and iconic this was.
I went to this concert tour. To me this was one of the coolest stage set ups. They didn't zoom out enough in this video to see it all. The stage was all red and wide open so you could see everyone. The guitar cabinets were on the top section and ran the whole length of the stage. It was lit up and not dark like most concerts are half of the time. The pyrotechnics were impressive. Especially for the song Red Hot. The flames were like 40 feet high. It was pretty cool!
Since you're into the drums, you really want to catch Mick Fleetwood's historic performance when Fleetwood Mac did "Go Your Own Way" during the 1985 Live Aid concert(s). It's worth hunting it down. I'd actually ran into him in Atlantic City 18 months prior at the Golden Nugget casino. He was an investor in Ross Bicycles, who were hosting their annual industrial show there. I was working stage production for it. He seemed to enjoy the swarm attention of the showgirls who instantly recognized him walking on tech rehearsal.
So glad y’all finally saw one of Tommy’s roller coaster drum sets. But they get way crazier! Tommy isn’t talked about in drumming circles the way he should be. Y’all should listen to “In The Beginning” and “Shout At The Devil” together.
Saw them in concert on this tour in Hollywood, Florida back in the day. It was amazing, and the things that spinning drum kit could do was sick lol. Whoever was controlling it started to mess with Tommy Lee a bit, leaving him upside down during his solo 😆. BTW, the opening band was Guns And Roses.
The girl back up singer with the big blonde hair is Billy Gibbons wife (lead singer of ZZ Top) ….the back up singers are called the Nasty Habits ✌️
Tommy's drums solo and playing upside down is spectacular. Take a ride on the wild side.

Hehe
Well said
This is one of my favorite songs from Crue, the beat is fantastic! Tommy Lee's drumming on this song is out of this world!
My most favorite song of theirs!!! And yes, the drums are killer!
I saw this in concert and the roll cage was AMAZING to see live!! 🤘
Will say it again and again, you can't beat music from the 80's- was the best decade for sound.
Saw them in 1984 during the "Shout at the Devil" Tour...I was deaf for 3 days after. It was great!
Definitely one of my favorite big hair songs. WHOOAAAA YEAAAH
This is my daughter's music. She and her 3 besties went to a Crue concert in Philly in June to celebrate their 50th B.Days. They had a blast!
This tour was insane!! I saw this tour with Whitesnake in NJ Giants Stadium... This song is 100% Drum Driven!! Tommy kills it!
I saw these guys play 3 time in 2015. Last performance was December 29 2015 in Los Angeles at Staples Center. These guys kicked ass.
Motley Crue was my first concert on the “Girls, Girls, Girls” tour back in 1987, right here in Tulsa
I saw them twice. Once with Whitesnake, once with Poison. Absolutely killed it both times!
That was so good! I loved it. Great tune 🎵 Great lyrics, great voice, but that guy on drums! Awesome 👌 👏 🥁 🎼🎙
Another great reaction. I saw them on this tour on August 20 1987 at MSG in NYC. Excellent show.
Love your reaction to Tommy Lee spinning around while playing the drums
I have seen Crew over 12 times over the years and they never disapoint. True Vinces voice can't do what he did 30 years ago but they still put on a great show. The best I've seen them was back in Carnival of Sins tour.
I absolutely love Motley Crue. This is one of my favorite songs by them. Glad you loved it too .
Saw them in concert a few times and saw when Tommy used this drum kit. Was amazing to see. He is an outstanding drummer
1984 graduate ! Seen them in concert . "Same old situation" . TALK ABOUT A PARTY . Been there .. done that .
U should see Tommy's roller coaster drum riser where not only do they flip him upside down he'll rise up over the crowd and goes back about ten rows so everyone can look up at him playing upside down
I sent u the link to the video of it
Was so lucky to get to see this in person back then twice. They were always Fire and their concerts were non-stop heart pounding FUN!!!! Love Motley Crue!❤❤
This was just what I needed to see and hear this evening to get my night kicked off.
This was my first concert, Whitesnake opened up for them in Evansville, IN
I LOVE hearing your takes when you pause, but PLEASE rewind 10 seconds when you start back!! I always think “they’re gonna love this!” Then you pause and miss it! Of course, you can’t know it’s a great part because it’s new to you! We just don’t want you missing out on the greatness you are hearing!!
LOVE the channel!!!!!!
Thank you !!! I've been requesting this song forever. 💞
Big hugs! 😎
Yes, the drummer is Tommy Lee. He's also a bit of an actor as well. He made a short independent film with Pamela Anderson that got a lot of attention.
Seeing them live is awesome, crazy fun! When his drum kit does stunts, wild for sure!
Concerts were so much fun back then and yes, he went upside down during the tour and it was awesome
Now this is what my 80s and 90s looked like!!!! Love it!!! They were one on my to bands !!!!
He goes out over the audience like that and doesn't miss a beat
Crüe is one of those bands that I have seen on several farewell tours. But it’s always been a great show, and worth the ticket prices.
