A sneak peek of Timbaland, Jaycen Joshua and Dave Pensado's production seminar in which they create memorable moments and transitions in a track.
Revisit the magical Studios La Fabrique for a second series with mixing dream-team Jaycen Joshua and Dave Pensado alongside producer Timbaland! They present an exciting work in progress and recount how the project began with the teenage artist and was developed under collaboration with producer Scott Storch and others. You'll hear how the original parts underwent drastic transformation thanks to the cutting-edge skills and creativity of those involved. After listening to the rough mix, suggestions are voiced by the guest speakers and seminar attendees. With the Pro Tools session open, Jaycen goes through the elements to apply processing, perform edits, re-arrange parts, and even add new material recorded on location! Aside from witnessing the value of brainstorming with musical talent, you'll learn about the trio's approach to tackling the record with vital considerations in mind - target audience, playback formats, marketing, culture, and more.

Carson Lueders - "hello" currently unreleased.
“Whenever you give an idea in a room and they don’t listen, leave the room. Like seriously, why we colabing.” Love that.
He get the track pumping right after so you can't hear the door slam 😁
like my job...."why we colabing."
This is so fucking true!
This keeps you from "trying to hard" to impress people in these studio sessions and embarrass yourself. Creativity is so subjective that if you're not vibing with the room, don't be in it. Go find somebody else in the game who vibes with you. It should feel easy and fulfilling to create with people.
I learned this the hard way btw. By trying to hard when I should have just walked out.
I am doing hard in colabs becourse i am learned to do things my own. Ideas are great but the thing is - having an Idea and be able to get it down are 2 different parts. 3 if the Idea is not from myself becourse i never heard what the other has in mind. Reading the mind is nothing i am able to do. Yes there are sessions when everyone vibrate in same level and everyone gets the vibe close ideas. But to me that is the pink painted clown.. the rabbit hole.. some say so others so third says no fourth dont like it get different idea. I know what i can do and what i cant do. And i know a lot of people that are not able to do the things i can do, talking about stuff they dont understand. In terms of struckture in terms of leaving space and room. Or in technical expression. And when ever i say - hey guys that will not work, becourse i can clearly see and have the picture in my mind - they dont listen. Just becours of their Ego. And so they go try for their own, doesnt get the job done - and in the end i was right but every one is pissing me off. Talking shit about me. Just becourse they did not like it that i was right. People hate it when i am right. They start always to talk shit about me every single one of them! Just to overcome their own failure in getting it done by their own. And becourse of that i hate colaborations. I am better without other people.
@@TecDruid yeah u r complicated. Wouldn't collab with u
Really pay attention to how ATTENTIVE and accepting Timbaland is. He is a true producer. Turns to Dave at every opportunity for approval/insight. Never too cool for school. Still enjoying the process.
Dave looked zapped out his brain 😂
I'm to cool for school
m.ua-cam.com/video/mEvjoRgfVR0/v-deo.html
Timbaland is another level producer this is just a lil sample on camera
Song name please?
Home Producers: I gotta record some finger snaps, I need a Neumann U87
Pensado: Get me the iPhone
deep insight, and bang on true
Home Producers: If I don't use expensive gear it won't sound good
Pensado: The frequencies we're trying to capture can be recorded perfectly on an iPhone, as the microphone is tuned to the human voice. The 3k bump for human vocal clarity will be perfect for strong transients on the snaps.
buying expensive gear is a marketing ploy for the masses, even the best producers will use cheap gear if it gives a certain sound or tone, its not about money.
@@shune84 thankyou for repeating my comment in different words :D
@@robertmclellan1605 bro he's just making a comment lmao, back off
"Are we all in agreeance that this is dope?" such a dope line for some reason, the chemistry in that room must just be different.
you think so? too many opinion, timbaland is way too dominant. pretty sure other two producers are annoyed

This is a great example of why I don’t like sending out beats. I rather build with the artist and produce a vibe. Great minds in 1 room make great songs
yup. i stopped sending beats ALONG time ago
That’s the missing piece artists don’t realize how important that being in the same room, vibe is. 💯 #king
Facts. Music is a synergy.
This right here! This is exactly why I never send beats out or work on tons of beats and ideas just for the numbers. I find I work best when I'm around people and the artist. You truly get to create a song perfectly when you are around the artist.
Ditto. I hate that process. It's like why even contact me to produce if all you want to do is pick beats?
This needs to be a show. I would watch it with EASE….
100%. just like the whole process. them in a room. I Would watch
i still want this damn song
When I was in my teens/ early 20s, this is how I was trying to get me and the homies to vibe on music projects. But everybody wanted to be in charge, nobody was wrong. Nobody could take constructive criticism.. I admire this vid.
What advice would you give if you could talk to that room of people right now?
@@DairangerSentai7 bro.. To be honest, the only thing I think I would do now is show them this vid lol. I was the only one who went to school for music engineering. So when we would link up and I give tips on how to mix, I got hit with the "you think you know just bc of your education".. Smh they were impossible.
@@torzellsyoutubechannel6885 I know what you mean: it can be challenging to convey good advice to people who haven't shared the same experience. Did your enthusiasm of what you learned trump the insight you were hoping to pass along with them?
@@DairangerSentai7 Well since the homie that shut me down was a best friend and it was his studio, I digressed and fell back from working with them on projects bc I felt like preserving the friendship was most important. And get this, we still fell out about 15 years later bc he still couldn't take my criticism. 🤷oh well.
@@torzellsyoutubechannel6885 it's best to learn how you and your friends argue early, huh?
This is what I believe to be "Music Production", not ONLY making beats and send out. As a Music Producers I aspire to be in sessions like that.
Definitley
True sooooo true
This is how good authentic music is made
I live in Tatarstan. Sometimes in my country, song writer, beat maker, vocal producer and engineer, group mastering and finish mastering - IS ONE PEOPLE! It really true) And he can make songs in all styles)
These sessions are how i initially visualized collabs to be but nowadays producers just send out each other stems or hop on a call due to residing from different parts of the world
Timbaland is so polite in collaboration- "Should it be that or should it be (xyz)?" Like he doesn't shoot down others ideas he just offers his perspective. so beautiful to watch a collaboration like this esp with the goat
Everybody gotta get their rights for the snap.
That's what I was thinking about lmao
For those who dont know, they three represent different job in a studio. Timbaland is a Beatmaker/producer but the others two are music engineers (those who know the software/plugins) thats why they work together to complement each other.
I’ve never seen anyone as excited creating music as Timbaland, it becomes so clear why he’s so good at it, it’s life to him. Pure joy.
These fellas constantly going on about compression, EQ and some philisophical tangent yet actually all I'm seeing is 3 fellas in their bedroom making beats. Nice to see production for a change.
FR FRRR
its been like that since 2011
we tired of that.
so glad we have actual masters !!
Wtf are you talking about
Both are important, producers produce, you still need audio engineers to make it listenable and technically good
@@MrLeSa95 I think you missed the wider point.
@@ghdrum what is the wider point?
@@MrLeSa95 that it's all just about having fun. They're literally going back to doing what they started out doing and making beats in their bedroom. It's nice to see. Plus, good audio engineering starts with a good producer. After all, you can't polish a turd.

Then there's me still waiting for this song to drop.. A year later 💀

Post production like this, is how songs become gemz. You could easily turn an okay song into something great, if you have the right ears and skills in the room.
This type of collaboration always mesmerizes me. Reminds me that no one does it alone - behind those vocals there’s a room full of masters at the top of their game creating the sound. All the respect for these geniuses (who somehow can collaborate without talking over each other).
If they don't listen leave the room 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Lol imagine you coming up, sitting in a room with some legends then straight up leave cause they don't wanna hear your little idea. Yeah, great advice

This gave me hope for collaboration in my future. Its hard finding people who will genuinely try out your ideas and get excited doing it. I know it aint always that way but this energy is fantastic. Truly what I want to do with my life.
So happy to see Dave here, been a huge Pensado's Place fan. 3 of the greatest in the game right here.
Man, it must be a true blessing to be in that room learning from the greats.
Have yet to see such a streamlined efficient mixing/producing process as this... From how they're seated to how they communicate, everyone has their place and they're just getting so much sh*t done. LOVE it.
I could watch this process for hours, Timbaland is truly one of the greats.
This is what producing music is all about. Catching that vibe and riding the wave. The energy in that room is insane! A lot of up and coming (and established) producers could learn a lot from this one vid alone!
The piano should be irritating but not that irritating… best line from Dave.
These are the kind of rooms I’d love to be in! This is what a studio session looks like! Clear, clean, straight to the point, open to hearing other people’s point of view and progress!
This is one of the best parts of making music. Mixing and breaking down the instruments while calibrating ideas. Thank you for this 🙏
I need more videos of sessions like this.
The biggest inspiration here Isent the good music, it’s how well these guys can work together and have no ego. Tell me your idea because it might be better then mine and that’s okay. The best kinda collaborations ever are like this
It's incredible how many great ideas fly through with so many masters in the room. Not to mention the quality of ideas and how quickly decisions are made.
I'm loving this. Three different minds actually vibing with one another. Nix the egos.
You can be millionaire and successful like these guys or just starting out in a basement, the conversations and debates about the music stay the same!!
Very humanizing and keeps me hopeful that success shouldn't take away the magic and the routine of the music making process !!
I need to see more of these. I love the collaboration! I just peeped the RC-20
Yeah😎
Best purchase I've made
Tim is super in the moment here. Even the simple act of speaking louder when the music is going and then adjusts his own volume when it cuts. Shows just how aware of the space he is, not getting lost in the thoughts.
fully focused👍👍
This was great! Would love to see more stuff like this. I love seeing the collaborative process take place between musicians/producers.
Ahhh I love that collaborative environment. Hope to be in the same room as them someday!
Dawg the groove on this drum pattern and sound selection is S tier bro damn🔥🔥🔥
YES to that extra kick back in. YES!
Awesome,I Love the post-production/ mix phase..
TRUST THE PROCESS!
That's one stage I always struggled with. The creation stage is more of my lane.
I love how content these next level guys are with simple ideas like “we could mic it with an iPhone”. Simple tech can work wonders when used effectively
Track sounds fire and crazy thing is every change I was thinking as I watched they had the same thoughts musically. A pleasure to watch
yes! when they left out the second kick i immediately thought it sounds way better with the second kick
Omg the snaps ❤️❤️🔥🔥❤️❤️

This was a pretty cool video to see with them collaborating. They are VERY VERY detailed with like every single bar. The engineer gets mad props for keeping his cool because Tim constantly in his ear could get annoying LOL 🤣😆
The 'engineer' is legendary mix engineer Jaycen Joshua. His name is literally in the video title lol.
He would be used to it , it’s part of the job
thats how it gotta be though the engineer is there to get the sound the producer wants

I completely agree, the Magic that happens when absolutely amazing producers and engineers come together and create something like this!!! Wow, this is how legendary albums like Michael Jackson’s “Off The Wall”, “Thriller”, Stevie Wonder “Songs In The Key of Life”, The Beatles “Abbey Road” Joni Mitchell “Blue” and Marvin Gaye ”What’s Going On” just to name a few are amazing timeless classics, and the work that’s being put in the studio by these guys, the songwriter(s), singer is what makes a classic song a classic song! Well that’s enough of my daily rant lol!
