Very dissapointed by some comments. I was coming here to write this: this is a simple song i decided to cover since it's hype but also i love it. It is simple, yes, but it's not easy mantaining staccato the whole song and keeping perfect rhythm. Some of you need to send me some videos doing it and i'm sure i'll find flaws. Theorically, keeping a pedal note on bass transforms the whole song and gives a very important backbone. It wouldn't be the same harmony with roots. There's nothing wrong with simplicity, there's everything wrong with judging :/ thanks to the ones appreciating this.
Bassline definitely isn't easy, and I wouldn't change one note. Played what the song needed. Great cover
Agree not easy to keep the rythm but i can't stop thinking of the bass player who have to play that in concert and I will probably get bored to do that. But anyway good job and sometimes easy stuff are the best, look tomorrow never knows , 1 chord create an amazing song
Endurance is still an important skill as well, especially for bass players. Great cover btw, love all that you do!
I wonder if the original recording was actually a bass or a synth? Performing it live with a bass would actually be fairly difficult especially with the rhythm changes thrown in and getting the pattern really tight. Well done.
You always do the best job and have the greatest quality out of any bass transcription UA-camr!!
also your explanation here and descriptions of most covers are very humbling
reminds me of when Thundercat talks about "Lady" by D'Angelo and how just 3 simple notes can be soo driving to a song. I think it's when you come to this realization is when you become a "true" bass player
That is actually quite hard to keep that rythm without being distracted or simply tired. You try to offer different things to learn, and that is necessary to be a good bassist ! Thank you !
My picking arm got sore playing this one - one note, sure, but it's not easy.
The thing about playing something like this is, there is no place to hide. Any mistake is going to be very noticeable. I was recently practicing Transmission by Joy Division and initially I thought ... easy enough, I can knock this out fast enough. Took me hours over the course of a few days just to build up stamina to play it.
Also those alternate rhythms with the rest on the beat and the 16th on the e throw me off so hard. I screw them up every dang time
@@craigmurphy1204 i got cramps! (:
For having played it in orchestra ( so repeating some times to get everyone OK) this song is truely tiering
Anyone saying this is easy has never played live before. The song is amazing, it's been covered countless times, the pedal note is there for a reason. Keeping focus on something like this requires mental and physical endurance. Is it hard to learn the notes? No. Is it hard to pull off? Yes.
yes this is hard because it is so boring you will fall asleep so it is hard to stay awake
@@elonmusk7675 tell a beginner to pull this off without staying off rhythm or being tired too quickly
I agree but what exactly does a "pedal" note mean? is it the same note as an axis for the whole song?
@@alahad pedaling means playing the same note or chord while there are chord changes. It gives the impression of movement whilst the bass is staying at one point. I don't know if you understand better.
@@hagegesamuel yeup, thanks!!
People who are saying that this is easy cleary have a lot to learn. Keeping perfect staccato throughout the whole song is a very hard chore and the fact that you’re doing it with a pick impresses me even more. RESPECT!
Its easy....
And there's nothing wrong with easy
@@jakskejajajajaa4283 Exactly!
@@jakskejajajajaa4283 It's not THAT easy. Its a sign of a competent bassist to make every single bar sound the same as the last one. Lots of practice.
Running Up That C.
Jokes aside, sometimes people forget this channel isn't here to serve them, want a full transcription of a hard song you want to learn? There are lots of musicians in need of your support that are willing to do that.
lol i wasin band and they played f and on bass its so deep --
Running up the C 😆
It's honestly impressive to me how playing on the same note for the whole song sounds so good and works so well with all the other tracks/instruments.
sometimes less is more
this is exactly what i was looking for. A song that makes me focus on keeping the rhythm and locking into the drums. anyone hating on this cover is not a real bassist. thank you so much for this. an amazing cover and tab for an amazing song.
Clicking into this I was like oh it's easy but thinking about it I'm like I really do need to practice keeping my rhythm so I'll definitely try this one out.
this is by far the hardest song i’ve ever encountered in this channel.
🤣🤣🤣
Even harder than Reptilia
dude I saw this and went ah crap. Then I saw the video😂
Most definitely
Yeah, try playing the same note for 5:20 minutes without loosing the focus.. ain't that simple. Ofc this isn't the hardest song, but it has its dificulty
I got into bass by playing simple songs. If someone sees this video because the songs popular and wants to learn bass then i'd say mission accomplished!
To all of you saying "wow so hard", why don't you go ahead and upload a video of you playing this. I guarantee not a single one would nail how metronomic you have to play for 5 minutes straight. Not every song is about a crazy left hand part.
agree it's not an easy song.
I have listened to studio and live versions isolated to a click track and its very far from easy.
Not to mention they would fuck up that weird pattern break the guy throws in every now and then!
A true test of persistence and endurance. A good lesson showing that bass playing doesn't always have to be flashy and full of crazy fills to be effective and best for the song. Been watching your channel for years upon years now and this is one of the coolest covers you've done. Seems boring to the common man but is an immense test of willpower.
This song makes me smile, thank you for doing a cover on this
Not only is this an awesome song, but this bass line is disarmingly tough. It's a great exercise in endurance and mental concentration for a whole 5 minutes. It's a good thing the note doesn't change because it's hard enough with the other factors. Good job and thank you!
Simple is why I love the bass. It can be the "boring" foundations of a song but can still have melodies and awesome riffs. No problem with simple songs at all.
I've been playing bass almost 3 weeks now and before I started I would've seen this as something stupid easy. Now I'm like damn my right hand would get tired so fast. Nice cover bro!
I would literally get bored after like 30 secs of playing this. And I thought Ramones songs were boring lol
@@quentinortiz4837 aren't you cool.
@@sam8404 hes so damn cool, im even thinking about jumping on that bandwagon
@@sanelceric8438 catch another one, this one's full
I'm a new bassist and I so excited to have found this video! Love this song and the simplicity of your stamina💫 Thank you 😊
Thank you, @CoverSolutions for putting this up.There simply aren’t that many songs that have become such big hits with only one note played. That being said, It’s also a challenging one in terms of frasing, rhythm and endurance. I totally will play this one once in a while because of sheer precision-pick-practise. THNX!
This bass line shows the genius of the songwriting.
And the skill of the bass player.
I would like to thank you for all of the effort you put into making these videos. You are easily one of the best cover channels on UA-cam. Your videos made learning bass much easier when I started and a song like this is a great way to start playing. Thanks again.
Don’t know why you’re hating on him, he has done some of the most difficult songs I’ve seen and knows what music is, this tab is amazing just like all of his other ones clearly a skilled and talented artist. Keep it up man! You’re great!
had a really, really good listen to all the other covers out there (using root chords) and you've nailed the correct tab for it. i did have a little chuckle when i first came across the tab but wasn't smiling anymore when i couldn't hold the rhythm and staccato correctly. thank you for all that you do.
Mad respect for the discipline. I couldn't do this for five minutes straight.
Great cover. Great song. Great work. Simple. Effective. Clear sound. Brilliant ryhtm. Congratulations!
I think that was one of the best bass covers I have ever watched
Why are we telling someone what to upload and what not to upload? I really don’t understand why you would hate on perfectly good tabs. Also: this song is perfectly good for practicimg right hand stamina and rhythm. There really is no reason to be mad at him for uploading something that he enjoys and is still very helpful.
Dude! It is so freaking hard to keep this precision for so long! Congrats! 🔥🔥🔥
Sensacional. Good work!
I know nothing about playing any instrument. I'm commenting only to thank you for making me love this song (& appreciate Kate Bush) even more.
I think it was her husband or long-time boyfriend that played bass in the band. I have spent a lot of time with my daughter lately. she is 24 years young. I was so happy I could turn her on to this music when she was young. She would leave for school in the morning, 2nd grade. Headphones blaring Hounds of Love. She was listening to Kate long before any of the recent generation. it made me proud that i could make an impact on her direction in music, me, being a musician myself. I notice as we would take drives in the country, she would blare this song. I never notice until currently that the one unique, or one of the many unique things about this song was the bass line. Just one note.."C" pedal toning all the way thru. I thought i was hearing distortion from the speakers but it was one note intertwined brilliantly throughout the song. I thought..what a great idea. The frequency lures you and mesmerizes you. Simply incredible. Less is more!
Amazing bassist and Thankyou for your skill and dedication to improving others skills with your videos.
Go away haters..this bass note and timing makes this whole song epic! The achievement of emotional connection sensation of running, urgency and heart rate comes from the beat of the bass!
Completely
I’m playing this song for a upcoming show I’m doing and I needed a tutorial. Glad to find one thanks:)
And ignore the mean comments❤️
Skill constructing practice!! Thank you for this cover!! Simple, but Not easy at all!!
Anybody that criticised this cover or this song apparently has never played and has no idea how hard it is to play the same note or a chord for a long time
Brilliant. Keeping that rhythm has got to be very tough, pretty sure I couldn't do it.
I never realised the bassline to this was just one note, but I see/hear now that this is what gives the entire song the anticipatory quality it has. It feels like it's on the edge of something, something that it never quite reaches. That tension builds throughout the song and creates an atmosphere of unease and mystery. Really clever songwriting.
You got it!
That's great, Bass is the motor of our music and this song represents this function beautifully.
It would be great to see another Kate Bush Song for all the people now thinking she did only simple pop songs.
I personally would love to see 'Wuthering Heights'!
Cheers!
Yay ... was hoping you would cover this song.... still new at bass and just watching you play it I already feel my hand cramping lol... now to try and figure it out so I can play it for my daughter. Love your videos!
Just listened to this cover good job.
I definitely got tunnel vision with it and kind of lost track of the rhythm a few times this is definitely going into the practice playlist.
What's interesting is on the "live" video the bassist moves his hands around like he is following the chord progression, but on the recording I think it is just a sampled bass part or even a sequencer staying on C the whole time.
Man this is so hard, you have really good consistent flow with your notes. This is gonna be my practice song for tiplets. Thanks for the cover!
Much respect. I'm get a forearm cramp just watching you play that so well for that long.
Here's what I just wrote on Beatos' analysis - " Same note, same rhythm, over and over again! That's definitelly not easy to pull off, and keeps the tension throughout the whole song!". This goes for you too :) People like bells and whistles, but these lines are as difficult to play as more intricate lines. Cheers from a Portuguese bass player.
Wow what a song Kate Bush is amazing
You are amazing
love the pick playing you play perfect
I play with a pick not that easy to master it takes time but it is well worth it.
Thank you for all your covers
Honestly I adore basslines such as this. Holding it steady while the music flows around it. There's magic to a bassline with minimal movement. It creates tension and its difficult to keep steady like this. I've tried in many songs to play as little notes as possible and it's hard to do, when it's nailed it's amazing. Not every song calls for something like this, but when it works its perfect. Class work dude, I appreciate what you do. You show all the sides to bass playing from technical to simple, and it needs to be shown. It's not all about flash and spectacle. It's about serving the song, not showing off.
Say what you will about his playing, but I think Nikki Sixx once said he tries to write basslines with as minimal movement as possible, and there's merit to that. Ignore the mean comments, this is just as valid a bassline as any Rush song. I like a good melodic bassline as much as any bassist, but there's a beauty in simplicity. John McVie has that approach and he's a phenomenal player.
fantastic job. It's really not easy to keep the beat going like that that. I'm impressed.
Thank you for your time and video. Happy New Years!
This is the best video you've ever done. Pure bass
I play with a plectrum it takes a lot of practice and skill
This is one of my favorite
Kate Bush songs and you played it perfict
hats off to you
Amazing how hard it is to keep that perfect beat now that is skill
Call it a pick huh
Pick
Thanks for the cover! I'm not good with gallops on the pick, so I will use this song for practice.
People underestimate how hard this song is - playing in time all the time and the variation
Timing and space. Well played it’s very hard to be on the ball with something like this. Cheers 🍻🇬🇧
Nice work. This one is harder than many think it is. I dont know Who did the arrangement on this song, but it's briljant use of cords and vocal leaps over the root. And the bass ties all this together holding the root note with the drums.
formidable cover.
Sometimes some people is quite selfish and think they've goy the right to tell you what to do, as if you ought them something. I think you're very generous sharing your knowledge and skills for free in this videos for us to learn playing.
I'm self taught (same as a lot of your followers) and I approach every song as an exercise that allows me to improve my playing. Each song I learn helps mme to improve not only my skills but my understanding of music. I think music is not about being impressive playing difficult songs for people to watch you, I think is about learning a language that has a lot to do with rythm and timing and other concepts that I barely can describe 'cause for me are intuitive.
Thanks for helping us to improve and don't take haters seriously. If they don't understand this they're missing something important.
The consistency of the notes is what gets me, it’s a “simple” song bur often simplicity is often overlooked.
This song’s bass line is setting a mood, a consistent and well synced bass line goes harder that awesome flashy shit (flashiness is impressive, but consistency pays gigs)
Awesome cover as always, as a newbie bass player (less than 2 years, been a life long drummer though, but 2 years ago I acquired my first bass and love the instrument, I say less than 2 years because work reasons I’ve been inconsistent with my practice and I know I could be a little more skilled by now but no rush) your cover and tab videos are a great help to familiarize myself with songs I love.
Keep on the awesome work and nevermind the haters.
Kinda funny. I love me some 80s new wave stuff. I had no idea this song was a single note. Haven't listened to it since the 90s. Nice work!
F### all haters in my opinion you have the best bass tabs on the internet have learnt alot through your channel
Love that your cover amplifies the bass. The pedal tone creates the uncomfortable tension that's the back bone of the song. I'll need to check a live version, but being in the 80s, I wouldn't be surprised if this was a synth on a loop. Well done keeping in step with the song, it's more difficult than I think most people can imagine.
Edit: went back and listened to the original recording, the low octave of the root chords sound like they are coming from the keys. Watching live versions, the bassists play the root instead of the tonic (imo) because it is easier to play live. Again, hit it out of the park.
Ignore stupid comments. Great song. Great cover. Tremendous video. Awesome talent u have.
I've been bamboozled and possibly hookwinked. I loved the entire thing.
Seems simple but it's not that simple to maintain the rhythm like this. Awesome, just awesome
Never thought of just playing C over a bunch of inversions in C, that pulsating baseline gives so much foundation
Não é tão fácil quanto parece, dá uma dor na mão ficar neste ritmo o tempo todo!!! Great Job!!!
Sir your channel is a gem for a begginer bass player like me. Don't pay attention to the trolls, they are just unhappy dudes spreading toxicity.
Bom Dia!
A música não é fácil, como estão comentando.
Ela tem algumas mudanças na tocada. Interessante para quem deseja treinar.
Quem fala que é fácil, certamente não sabe tocar.
Deceptively Challenging. Great work as always!
Thank you for transcribing this the way it is supposed to sound because others I’ve seen have something completely different from what I hear on the record. You totally confirmed what I thought I was hearing. Shame on ppl for making nasty comments
Flawlessly played
Amazing music. Repeating video 300x till i get it perfectly.
I love the part where you played the third fret on the A string
Well done. Slotting those slight variations in every now and then takes tremendous concentration. Also maintaining a crisp staccato. As trained musician I know this is really hard to play.
I don't know how to play with a pick and this is not an easy song to play. Thanks for the tabs!
Outstanding‼️💎Ur on point!🥰 My Jamm! Love love love this song 🎵 thanks 4the share💯
I seen comments on this vid saying that its hard to keep rhythm with this song(I know everyone is differant) but to me it was realy easy, I do like how your changing up the genres though, keep it up.
I play bass just for a year but it's still hard sometimes to keep the perfect rhythm, so everyone who says it's easy to play I would really like to see you play it
Personally this is how I’ve always heard it and I think your play through sounds more accurate than the other ones on here. The synths carry the chords and the bass is incredibly low in the mix, it’s a percussion driven song.
Couldn’t agree more. All the other vid transcriptions are inaccurate. This one nails it
Dude, you're a machine.
As soon as I saw this I smiled. First I LOVE Kate Bush. I knew what was coming. This makes me think of Leland Sklar and stratus. Shear determination and concentration.
YOO LETS GO THANK YOU
Where we going homie?

A brave bassline, can't believe I haven't come across this tune earlier. Yeah it's one note but it's super cool
Im a begginer bass player it was very hard to keep the rhythm but it help me a lot.People said that is very easy have no idea how to play bass
Keep practicing it, it will help you I'm sure! I'm trying this song too and I've been playing for roughly 14 years. The hard part is keeping the staccato steady. As for the endurance, you should always be relaxed when playing. Otherwise your arm will have cramps. Peace
Great song great cover 👍🏻👍🏻
don't sweat it man, haters gonna hate! keep up
My fave part was when he played Cm, best part!
Metronomic Accuracy. Kudos!
Fantastic cover! I’m looking at getting a bass myself, but I’m not sure what would be best for an absolute beginner like me
the Ibanez Talman TMB30 is a pretty good bass for a beginner - affordable (around £170ish), and is also a short scale (some people would hate on this, but it’s just as good as a full scale bass!) so if you have small hands (like me lol) it’s not as daunting to play for the first time. It has a great tone and is quite a versatile bass overall. Good luck with your bass journey!!
@@lizzyhaynes5010 thank you so much for your advice! Much appreciated!
Epic song. Thank you
I’m gonna have a hard time for this my arm is gonna be exhausted thank you for the tabs btw!!
Feels like some punishment your bass teacher could assign you would you turn careless about your rythm practice ! Usefull to work on, many thanks
You fucking nailed those pauses! Amazing.
Finally a song I might be able to play!
Great song for keeping time
