Just tested it in the same screen, no lag at all when you turn off the Stabilization. That seems to work for all frame rates and video quality settings!
Thanks for letting us know!
Why would you want to record video with the stabilization turned off on a GoPro just to make the monitor work without lag? Forget buying this over priced monitor and just buy the Ulanzi GP-5 flip mirror [GoPro Hero 5-9] for only $9.95 on Amazon! That way you can have your stabilization AND see yourself for positioning your shots at the same time. Hope this helped.
@@TOTALLYRELAXED Because you wouldn’t use an external monitor like this in an outside action environment...just in a studio setting.
Hypersmooth isn’t needed like this at all.
thats what i was about to say
I bought a 4.5-inch Feelworld model 450 external monitor. I connect it to my GP 7 to shoot a Low-Budget music video. During the preview mode, there is a lag, but when you start to hit record button, it does not lag anymore. One thing I notice during composition of video scene, when I look at the external monitor for preview of scenario, it seems there is a slight inaccurate of image rendition. To combat this; I need to press the record button to get a correct image composition, or to look at the tiny screen of the GP7.
Thanks for the tip, I’ll definitely try it out later on!
@@RomaFedorov Did that work for you?
@@RomaFedorov did it work?
Not 4 seconds, more like 2000ms delay. Still bad, but not 4000ms.
Using milliseconds doesn't make you seem smarter.
Thank you so much :)
Any monitor you recomend for gopro hero 9 black ?
I like this video- see this video is great because- as a Dj- at an event- I can mount go pro somewhere in venue and by me providing Dual monitors- people can see the action on the dance floor on the dual monitors- all I need is a splitter and woola!great video!
Haha thanks man!
thank you
Do you think it will be possible to connect the GoPro 8 display mod monitor on a GoPro 7 ?? Thanks
I have no idea. Maybe you should ask GoPro about it..
Thanks for the video. Really interesting to see this experiment. Hopefully GoPro 8 will be better with the lagging thing...or maybe, GoPro 7 can be fixed with a firmware upgrade.
Yeah I hope so...
But to be honest not a lot of people are going to use an external monitor with their GoPro..
@@RomaFedorov Correct.
There is only lag because he has stabilization set on auto. If he sets it to off, there is 0 lag.
@@RomaFedorov Strangely enough I am considering doing it (with a GoPro Hero8 Black). My search brought me to your excellent video. Any chance you tried this again with video on a Hero 8?
Do you have any video about how to used an iPad as a monitor for the GoPro 11 with a usb?.
There is a lot of delay doing it wirelessly.
buy a usb capture dongle, pipe the output of the gopro mini hdmi (on the mediamod case) into the capture dongle. plug capture dongle into ipad, use a "usb camera viewer" app to display the video. Easy. If you don't mind 1080p then the dongles are dirt cheap, but 4K ones exist too. I do this exact setup : Gopro -> mini-hdmi output -> USB capture dongle -> usb side of dongle into a USB-A to C converter -> into tablet. My rig obscures the back screen on the gopro so I need an external monitor to make sure im getting the shots I want but I also didn't want to spend loads (already had a tablet so just dongle+cables needed) and I prefered the idea of something that's useful for other things (it's a tablet after all) while i'm not using the filming rig.
Any updates with gopro 12 ? External monitor
Hey Sir Roma, have you try a mobile phone as a preview monitor?
Yes of course! It works fine but with a massive delay unfortunately..
what kind of planet are you on where we count that fast?
Pluto
Would it all so not have lag due to the length of the cable? I had this problem with my hard drive with a super long cord
If you’ll disable stabilization, the lag will drastically reduce!
@@RomaFedorov that's the only point to have the 7 or 8 lol with out the Stabilization those cams are pointless.
I hear you. Maybe the GoPro 9 would solve this issue..
R u live in Thailand ?
I just watched your video review ETM 001. Good video
สวัสดีครับ
Yeah i live in Chiang Mai :)
You didn't test if theres any change when you start filming. Also the video only option without the settings display would have been interesting.
You are asking waaaay too much from this guy
The lag is huge. I wonder if it would be any different if using a smartphone + gopro app
I think it’s about the same...
There is only monitor lag if you have the stability on gopro turned on
Will this monitor work with Hero 5?
If the Hero 5 has a HDMI output, I don't see why it wouldn't work.
Man I'm 3 years late but what cage is it that your using? I see you have a lense on there that's why I ask
Ulanzi Gopro cage
You didn't try it in 2K or other video modes?????
If you turn off Hypersmooth in video mode, the lag goes away, its due to the camera doing the internal processing.
Good video.

Hi can Gopro 8 Black would work as well?
with an external monitor ?
Yes, but you'll need the new Media Mod from GoPro fro that. Because GoPro removed the HDMI out on the Hero 8..
What about GoPro 8? It has only USB-C connector!
For the GoPro 8 you’d need to buy the GoPro Media Mod in order to connect an external monitor..
@@RomaFedorov так ты по-русски наверное можешь ))). А с usb-c никак не выверить сигнал?
Никак.
Turn off, stebalizaer for no lag
Will try that!
Turn off hypersmooth and the lag will be resolved.
Wow.. you're very intelligent
Appreciate that!
Will this work on GoPro 10?
I don't see why not. But you'll need the Media Mod.
@@RomaFedorov thanks. One other question. Is there a way to use a monitor without the need of the media mod?
Viva Brasil
turn off stabilizer to get a better latency
Noted
It’s cos you shooting 4K dude. Reduce the resolution a bit. 4K is best but with that delay u might need to step down a bit
it wasn't that. The delay was because of the HyperSmooth stabilization, once I turned it off there was barely any delay..
@@RomaFedorov oh great.. now I know.. can u pls share little tips on how to get UA-cam start giving me some income... I've been monetized since 2yrs now and no single income with and I have contents that my original contents (shot films)
maybe its the monitor or hdmi cord thats lagging
On my main camera I experience no lag at all with the same monitor and cables..
You are NOT counting seconds. Jesus h
why bother with a huge ungainly setup like this, just get a camcorder with fully articulating screen. much more compact and capable.
i tried many times and gave up. camcorder is just much better for situations like this.
