I lost it with “it probably looks like this” and it shows the bicyclists falling 😂

When I saw it, I was dying of laughter as well
Im still laughing
Lol
Had me in tears
WOW I have a Go Pro 4 and I wanted to buy a Go Pro 7 because I wanted some rad MTB shots - but after watching this video and playing with the settings, I realize that a better camera doesn't mean I'll have better footage - it's about knowing how to use it! Thank you so much!
what is the app's name?
I was thinking the same, even before looking at this clip. But the older ones are just as expensive. ?? Gopro Hero 4 is almost the same price
@@wormeffectx7035 is it really?
The gopro hero 5 is literaly like 100 dollars now
@@wormeffectx7035 ?? there are a lot for sale what are you talking about

I JUST RELEASED AN UPDATE to this video that covers how to get perfect footage from your GoPro Hero 7,8 and 9 Black! ua-cam.com/video/3DoKXA8tCq0/v-deo.html
GoPro Hero 9 Black LONG-TERM review: ua-cam.com/video/2HAnfyuIBjw/v-deo.html
Great video!
Those settings in that vid will work with hero 6 black ya?
Awesome video:)
Do you still recommend all these settings for best vid if you don't plan on doing any extra computer editing?
what about 5 lol

I've since bought a Hero 7 Black and figured out how to make it not suck! ua-cam.com/video/Px5uTac1Aig/v-deo.html
The Loam Ranger - hi fella, what shutter speed would you recommend?
Well, in a perfect world, 1/50 would be great when shooting at 24fps, but I leave mine in auto for that.
Thanks for the quality info!
Hi, I have been looking for the app you used in the video and have not found it what the name of the app if you dont mind me asking and I dont now what phone you have but i have a iphone 10 please help thanks!?!?!?!?
Quick question, what app are you using?
Thanks for watching everyone! Can't wait to get part 2 done and out. Here's the exact gimbal I use: bhpho.to/2zFgEzs
Please hurry up. I have to start my channel! 😂
Might it be Divinci Resolve? Cause that's an awesome free editing program
What a great video man 🙌🙌🙌
'sail' makes every gopro shot look cool no matter what you do :)
On god 😂
Haha, i laughed out loud from the life VS reality part in the beginning. Well you got my attention now ;)
The truth is always funny 😂🤔
we DIED laughing. We are very much beginners and this was so true it hurt hahahah

Loll me too!!!
This got me, I have a video pretty close to identical to his reality check! 😂
Very well put together!
Cheers Phil!
Skills With Phil
Phil assuming you’re using the hero 4 Black as well?? Hey
Hello phil
hi
Brilliant 2-part series. The finest video advice I have seen in years! Bravo!
Newer & more expensive is sometimes worse-thanks for the tip on the older GoPro.
Very useful video with great examples of what to do and what not to do. Keep the content coming!
Cheers! Glad you liked it.
Wow! Thanks for this easy to understand but yet also very comprehensive tutorial. I can use all the extra help I can get, when it comes to camera settings and video editing. Since I have plenty of seat-time due to my patellar tendon rupture, I will be using most of what you said in this video, I have the time and I need to learn a great deal too, thanks!
That's really great to hear, thanks! Sucks about your ruptured tendon though :( Heal up soon!
@@TheLoamRanger what about iso? If im shooting only outside should i leave it to "max 400?"
And thank you SO much for this video. I just got my first camera and this was just what i needed. Thank you. THANK YOU!
By far the most helpful video I've watched on YT... and I've watched A LOT! Thank you for making this!!
when a hero 4 has pro tune and the hero 7 silver doesnt.
Rocky I quickly returned my hero 7 silver
I found out your better off with a hero 6 unless you get the 7 black
Always get the Black. Even an older Black is superior to a new silver or white.
Dude exactly. And u cant take out the battery. The silver is complete dog shit. I wish i would’ve studied up before i bought
@@AraceaeFanatics This! Always get the previous top model over the lower end new models because the improvements in sensor and other features arent as important as the options.
That explains it. I'll just work with my hero 7 silver, still a quality camera.
just bought hero 8 black, love it. it has boost stabilisation which is amazingly close to a gimbal and audio has improved so much. now my pack weighs less (no gimbal), better image quality for the same cost (old gopro + gimbal)
Does your hero8 freeze alot like people keep saying?
@@Christian1Juarez i have gopro 7 and still get freeze
mikiw2002 freeze as in when youre shooting 4k 60fps?
Great info Ryan!
1600 iso??!

After 10 years working with GoPro cameras, finally discover the most complete video that really speaks and demonstrates how to really set up a GoPro camera to make quality videos. Thank you and congratulations for sharing your experiences.
Thank you so much for the video. You have inspired me so much that I am trying to make videos as well. Keep up the great work.
This is the best video that I have seen in a while. I found it very informative, and extremely helpful. For that, you have earned yourself a thumbs up.
Thanks Colin!
Thank you so much for this information!! My GoPro footage is shockingly bad.
Thanks again, and all the best!
Happy riding peeps!
Been searching for how to set up my GoPro correctly and this is by far the best video I've found. Thanks for putting this together because it's a huge help.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! I snagged a 4 this fall and haven't looked back. You're advice on protune and Davinci was so helpful! Im finally pleased with the look of my vlog. You my friend are awesome!
I stick with 60fps linear especially when it's ice and snow and i want to slow my footage down. Gets difficult to push the screen in sub zero temps.
Thank you again. You have had such a tremendous impact on my channel and I'm proud to start pushing my content out now. Happy 2020!
First 30 seconds was to real man
DUUUUUDDDEEE! Thanks for the insight!! Changed my updates already, can't wait to see the new videos!
I'm new to go pro my hubby just got me the 7 hero black. Im trying to learn to edit to start my UA-cam channel. This video has been the most helpful and I've watched many many videos. Thank you for being so thorough and making this video so beginner friendly!
I really feel this is the best video i have seen so far on go pro settings and much more. It was informative as hell and the way you explained it, you just nailed it .
I was actually distracted when you said focus and it got me back on track😂
The timing on this is just bizarre.. I was just trying to sort out why my latest footage (I'm pretty new at this) was so washed out. I've been tinkering with my Hero 4 settings (using Boostmaster's settings) and GoPro Studio with no luck. Then, this vid pops up in my notifications, telling me everything I need to know :) Thanks! Looking forward to Part 2. I really need to learn about color correction and editing tips!
Haha funny how things happen like that sometimes. Jordan's got his settings pretty dialled too! Although I've never been a fan of Native white balance, so I stick with setting my K temp depending on the situation. In either case, your footage will look flat before you color correct it. That'll all be in video #2!
They are watching........
Chump MTB ok
Amazing info!! I am new to the gopro still waiting on mine to come in the mail and doing lots of research to get the best footage possible! Your video was very informative and you jow have a new subscriber and a fan for life!! Now I'm going watch part 2 to find out even more great info on how you get your footage to look so great!! Thanks keep up the great work!!
I've watched just about 4 mins of this video, and have already clicked the Like button, and deemed this as THE BEST video to illustrate the various settings and more....and came to write this comment! Okay, now to go back and finish watching it to the end. Thanks for this video, you have done a fine job explaining everything, with sample footage, something others don't bother doing. Subscribed, totally! :)
Setup starts @ 5:20 - Thanks for this!
Great video tutorial. Lots of great setup tips I can try on my cameras and you delivered the content brilliantly. Thanks 🤘🏻
Thanks Nick! Glad it was helpful.
This is such a helpful video series! I have been looking for something trail-related dealing with the differences in light and shadow on the trail, and this really helped. I would love to see an update to the series since cameras have changed, gimbals have changed, DaVinci Resolve has changed, etc. Thank you!
Really helpful. You mentioned ALL the points I've been trying to find for years without over complicating it
I imagine this is going to revised following the Hero7 (w/ Hypersmooth) and DJI Osmo Action (w/ Rocksteady). Notheless, great video!
If you fall a lot yes if not no
going to start my own channel soon where I basically ride my bike around my city and talk about whats going on in the world. I will be using go pros and I will be using all your video tutorials these are amazing thank you so much
This video was published 4 years ago and its still very very instructive. Thanks!
You're amazing. Learning from you feels like a wonderful and colorful journey. A great thanks from France.
Nice video man. The Automatic settings made my footage look really bad. Looks much better now!
Great video! It was really well done. I'm stoked to see part 2!
Thanks man! Part two on the way.
B1KER what kinda settings do you use brother?
The Middle Aged Masher I actually use what Loam Ranger told me a few months ago. Basically what he said on here. I had all that stuff at auto and no clue what any of it meant for a long time. LOL, don’t really know. Hahahaha
B1KER funny dude. I’m going gimbal for this weekend.
B1KER
So how much post film editing do you guys do. I get telling the story but how much color correction and true editing?
This video has a special place in my heart. Thank you so much.
Nice tutorial man, i will try the settings thanks for sharing
Another problem is that in GoPro's marketing, they always have these amazing action shots taken from the third person or from a drone that would be nearly impossible for the average user to get, so it sets up very unrealistic expectations
that comparison at the start had me giggling 😂
Thank you so much for this amazing video ! I really apreciated your way of teaching and showing the settings with simple comprehensive examples ! :)
Such a great video and those settings made SUUUUUCH a difference!!! Thanks buddy for sharing that helpful info!!!
Very well put together! Great video with lots and lots of no BS info. I use the same settings you do except I film at 2.7k and wide instead of super-view; protune, white balance and flat color profile make an enormous difference in quality.
Huge difference! Glad you liked it man. Cheers!
BlindstuffMTB can it also work on 1080 ? I don’t have a laptop .. I know I know and I edit on my phone ...
Frank Sanchez yes, it'll work in 1080

just stumbled on your video! love it! totally hooked. Thank you for all your tips!
You are a good man who likes to spread the knowledge, i salute you from Morocco! Thanks for the video, I look forward for more awesome videos 😁👏🏼
The fall at the beginning was the slowest fall in history 😂😂
I have GoPro hero 4 the audio quality is great
This video is so perfect I’m commenting again. It was perfect explanation for the coloring
Ive been looking at so many tip videos on action camera's and this one is the best. Thank you!!!
What about the White Balance set on Native? I have noticed that no one talks about it, but it really makes a difference in post. Can you touch on that? :D
Great vid. Only thing is, I do go into the water quite a bit so the no case/gimbal wouldn't work for me. Audio really isn't a top priority for me since often I'm just overlaying music onto my footage. So Hero 7 Black with Hypersmooth for me. Been using a Hero 4 Silver for a few years now though, solid camera
Insanely informative video! Thank you for take the time to do this!
As a beginning student of outdoor action, and channel photography which happens mostly on the creekside, I really appreciate the easy to understand tips that you produce. I am looking forwards to turning my bland Hero 9 into a more lively machine. Thanks!!
Thanks for the great tips. Just bought a hero 8. Your video will be helpful! I am downloading Davinci resolve :)
Much needed help! Thanks Ryan for saving my channel 😂
** Sean Connery voice ** I mustache you a question, but I'm shaving it for later. ....( don't fix the spelling on your comment or mine will look really weird 😂)
The Loam Ranger im so bad about spell check
Great info. I needed to bump up my video quality. Thanks for all of the info.
This is still the best video about this color grading stuff. Other people just make it so complicated it's unreal.
Can I do this with a Hero 7
Awesome explanation, specially the part aboout the white balance. I guess that for a studio setup for recording drums I should go for 6500K because of all the white lights (considering the studio I record drums in have all white lights). I bought 3 Hero 2018 yesterday and changed their firmware to Hero 5 and they work just great, it unlocked a lot of advanced options and I'm definitely gonna use the hell out of my camaras soon enough. Thanks for this great vid!
nice! For daylight balanced lights, I'd go 5500K, but you could do 6500K for a bit warmer of a look. Play around with it and see what you like best!
bro this stuff is so useful thank you !, you got my exact go pro and ive been trying to find a video like this for the longest while . Thanks man !
You’ve made that so simple. I hear so many say what they do and but they never said how to do it. Thank you!
Thanks Remy!
Hey Ryan, great episode. Very well put together and articulated.
I’ve recently upgraded my gimbal from the Feiyu WG to the Rider-M and was stoked at how ridiculously smooth it is. The adjustability via the Zhiyun app is handy too. Others may have mentioned it but you should have a look at the Stuntman chest harness - it’s a lot steadier than the GoPro chesty. I mount the gimbal directly and run the camera upside down in auto upright mode. Works fantastic. Looking forward to part 2!!
It's a big step up, for sure! I've got a Stuntman waiting for me at the post office right now actually :D

Haha I'm bathroom famous...wonderful 😂
Very helpful for just starting up and couldn’t appreciate enough how in depth you got! Thank man my videos will thank you later!
Best video i have found explaining this subject thank you!!
I love how you edit your videos
Thanks Owen!
I love this! I just got the go pro hero 7 and I love it *subbed* much love from Vancouver Canada
Nice! Thanks for subscribing 🤙
One other thing I noticed here is the perception of the terrain you get from having the bars in the shot. When I see those bars rising and dropping relative to the rider, it gives me a much deeper sense of what that ride feels like. That's a huge benefit to the chest mount.
Absolutely!
thank you for educating us. love the video.
This video is so epic and helpful 🍻🤘🏻🍻
Haha :D I really liked the beginning. Thx!
Great detailed information! Thank you for taking your time and sharing your knowledge. I will set my GoPro to your settings.
Super helpful! I always thought it was JUST post-processing... I will be testing this out.
just wondering what app you were using to make those changes in the settings ?
Wow - so helpful - thank you so much! Just subscribed! ;) I know.. late! haha keep it up man, looking forward to the next video!!
Thanks Kevin! It's never to late to subscribe ;)
Never had one. Needed an intro. The Ranger Rocks. I'm subscribing.
Thank you so much for this video! It's great to see an honest review about newer products; most tend to rave about all the good things and skim over the weaknesses. I've never owned a GoPro before and I'm thinking of getting Hero 7, so at least I can try and find a sort of solution for the audio. Great title btw, exactly what I'm looking for :D
That's great to hear! Glad you liked the video. Between the Hero 5/6/7, the 7 Black does have the best audio quality of the three. Set it into Stereo Only mode for best results. Enjoy the camera!
Great video brother 🔥
Thanks!
Bro
Does this apply to the GoPro hero 7 or just the hero 4,5,6?
Best intro ever!! It was so good I watched it twice.
best video I have ever seen in terms of setting these up and getting the best results!! A+
Does anyone know what app he's using to control the settings of the gopro camera on his iphone? And where to find that gimbal and chest rig on amazon?
It’s literally the “GroPro” app in the App Store
