- What can you see on the HDMI connection of a GoPro?Just watch this video, and you'll find out.
HERO7 Black update v1.70 | January 23, 2019 fixed the issue with the image lagging behind on the HDMI monitor. - Навчання та стиль
finally the video test I was looking for...thanks!!
It is so bad that display of GoPro is dead while you record video as well that delay of 2-3 seconds. Such a disaster! :( Thanks for showing this!
Can you confirm if the latency issue has been fixed with FW update? (even with hypersmooth?)
very informative and thank you! wish there wasn't this much latency though.
turning off hyper-smooth stabilisation will fix the lag
thank you!
@@thenegotiator9701 did that work? Turning off hypersmooth gives instant feedback?
tq very much help me so much
Confirming this works. Delay goes from the same as in this video with stabilization on to minimal delay when stabilization is off. There is still a bit of delay but it is acceptable for webcam use.
thanks for this! I can confirm this fixed the issue for me!
Can you run the gopro off of mains as well as using the hdmi out put - looking to use the feed in a live streaming mix of sport :)
Can u transfer cideos from go pro to smart phone with this cable
Disappointed with the Hero8, since it doesn't have the HDMI connection built in. Need to get the $80 media mod to have the same functionality as a Hero7. :-(
which sice is the hmdi kable?
What is that little monitor you have
@mygiguser can you still use the micro hdmi adapter with the mount on the gopro?
Liger Kim yes
Can you do a demo without hypersmooth?🙏
excellent
Mate, is possible to connect hami and also the audio adaptor at the same time? I mean because it are so close
El pequeño mundo de SamÜ MacGregan you can buy HDMI cables with very slim plugs, that should work!
is there any difference between HDMI output and usb connection when i transfer videos to PC?
流浪澳洲 HDMI is real-time video, and USB transfers recorded video
Yo. Thanks for your vid. But still, those function are not very handy. Go pro should do better with hdmi conective. 👍🍻
Is this just a cable? No capture card?
Can I just buy an HDMI cable with the USB-C for $50 at Best Buy and connect the GoPro Hero8 to my Samsung Notebook 9 (with HDMI port) and use on OBS?
Travis Heinze is the Notebook HDMI in?
@@mygiguser It has an HDMI port that labeled "HDMI" on the left side, in between the power port and USB-C port. It doesn't specify in or out.
How do you fast Forward a video!!?
How about hero 7 silver? Is there any way to put hdmi?
No Silver doesn't have HDMI Out
how did you remove the small cover, can it be put back again?
Jose RM open and pull on it, yes you can put it back in.
I tried do this in my tv, and it was succeeded, but in my monitor, doesn't work. My monitor stays with no signal. Any idea to fix this?
possible that the monitor doesnt have the correct frame rate
can you also connect your Mic to the HDMI port?
Ru-shed it is HDMI Out, not in.
When you record in 4k60 witch is the resolution on HDMI? 1080p60?
Does it have clean HDMI output?
Yes, its 1080p60 on the HDMI port always
@@mygiguser Does it give 1080/50P ?
I tried it on my tv but it didn’t work :(
Thanks for the video. what about hero7 silver?
daniel dekel it doesn’t have HDMI out
@@mygiguser does that mean i cant do it with hero 7 silver
very helpful!
How did you take off the flap where the HDMI out is? I’ve been trying and it don’t work
did you see me removing it in the video? It was easy. Just pull on it!?
@@mygiguser legend
Did the GoPro Firmware update fix the response or delay output?
BlindedByEvil yes, it did!
@@mygiguser ok cool and thanks. I'll give it a go once I get setup for it
mygiguser is it real-time now? What similar cameras do you have that are?
So you can record to card while using hdmi monitor?
yes
yes
So the HDMI out is just for connecting to an external screen? No other use than that? What's the purpose of it I have the little screen? Plus you cannot pull focus on that camera anyway.
you could add a large screen
@@mygiguser Hahaha. Ok. Thank you very much. But appart from that... the HDMI out doesn't have any other use right?
For someone like me who would like to use it as a discrete camera on stage or at live events for relay to the big screens it's very useful
Its a normal hdmi cable? My gopro7 dont connect to the tv and i dont know what i gone do
Yes, normal HDMI. Most likely the TV that doesn't handle 60 fps or what ever the GoPro spits out
@@mygiguser no signal to tv
There is no lag using my Gopro4.
I don’t have that problem I bought mine a couple days ago does fine for me must have gotten fixed 🖕🤣
That was very helpful. Thanks for you efforts.
Hi. Thanks for your reviews on action camera. I need an action camera for use indoor that cAn send a clean hdmi output to hdtv in another room without delay and at the same time record . The lcd screen on the camera should be on for monitoring. Thanks
A Sam well, you see in the video how much delay it has. Is that a big deal for your application?
Did the firmware update help?
Yes! Thanks for the reminder, the update fixed that issue!!! HERO7 Black update v1.70 | January 23, 2019 fixed it.
mygiguser update video? Plz
@@mygiguser Could you please do an update video showing it without the delay?
Thanks for this. I wasn't able to figure out how to play a recorded video until I watched this. I was basically doing the right thing but pressing on the wrong locations.
The ergonomics of the GoPro when connected to a TV is a disaster and I regret purchasing my micro USB cable adapter.
You need to switch off stabilization so it's zero delay !
OK, i tried that, and the delay is still there. What are you talking about?
Why can't I watch my videos in 4k because I got a 4k TV pls help!?
because the HDMI on the GoPro Hero7 Black is 1080p60 only. That's just what it is. No 4K there.
@@mygiguser oh ok thanks
I just updated my Hero 7 Black to firmware v1.7
I am ready to complain to GoPro about the HDMI playback controls.
1. They work differently than the camera screen playback controls.
2. Scrolling through a long video do NOT WORK on HDMI but does on the camera screen. On HDMI, it skips to the beginning of the next/previous video. Infuriating.
3. Fast Forward & Rewind get "stuck" and/or confused. They should cycle through a few speed options (Normal/2x/5x/10x/30x) and then wrap/return to normal speed.
4. Selecting "PAUSE" then "PLAY" should always return to normal playback speed. It returns to whatever speed & direction you had before pausing.
5. In one experiment, the playback went insane, and began looping backward through a roughly 1 second time slot that was slowly moving forward in the overall timeline. This indicates a serious coding error in the playback firmware 1.7. However, in firmware 1.61, the camera locked up entirely, and I had to remove the battery to reset it.
6. I would like to suggest that GoPro make the HDMI playback functions use the camera touch-screen controls exactly as they work on the camera itself...including the ability to scroll through the video.
every single word you write is100% correct...very frustrating for this new GP7 black model I give up and prefer download the content to disk on key and play with the LG 65 screen remote control the video. although my screen is 4K I cant play 4K video shoot by the GP7 black anyway
@@untouchableisRK I recently upgraded to firmware 1.9, and discovered that when I use the Fast Forward & Rewind controls which display on the TV screen when connected via HDMI, I can return to normal PLAY speed by pressing and holding the SHUTTER button on the camera while the control focus is still on the FF or RW icon (BLUE). Not sure if the was really missing, or simply undocumented on the earlier firmware. It is STILL undocumented. I found it by accident.
It's really hard to find any information about hdmi connection with action cameras? What is the normal operation of a basic action cam? Does the hdmi cable allow real-time viewing, or does it only allow viewing of recorded photos and videos? My question will probably be stupid to the regulars, but it turns out that I have never used some of these curious devices! Thank you for your answers...
It allows real-time viewing, the guy showed that in the video. This is useful when you use the camera as something like a webcam, for streaming or just the "live view" (the mode name) in an event, in places that regular cameras won't fit or are to risky to mount. Something to consider is that if you want to record, the external monitor will go black.
The monitor mode is useful when you are considering the same kind of difficult spots to place the camera, but you need to see the camera info. I'm guessing that you can record in this mode and keep the image in the external monitor, but I actually don't own the camera, so someone else could confirm that.
I have the hero 4 and I'm thinking in upgrading to this one, so if I do, I'll test it out myself.
@@robguevara7 I would love to have your feedback! I will soon receive a Foxeer Legend 2, which has a hdmi connection, what worries me is to what resolution the image will be transmitted ..., I would ideally need 1080p, and it seems that the output resolution may vary depending on the cameras. How does it work with your gopro? can you set the resolution?
my laptop is not recognizing my gopro hero 7 black
get the latest hero 7 software update from the gopro app or the gopro website has update files.
Can u give me a model number for that cable.?
Hello, just found the solution, for the delay problem, you must disable the auto stabilizer.
did you try that?
mygiguser I did, and worked!!! (Hero Black 7).
Turn off Stabilization
delay with different devices used to see the Gopro on a screen, computer or TV, its the stupid gopro7
My GoPro hero 7 does not have an input and output preference plz help
Do you have the Black or Silver version?
Silver is that why?
This company cannot seem to make things with common sense usage and tools that people need. They need to spend on R&D and NOT marketing. A smart great product speaks for itself. Then marketing is a fraction of costs.
Nice review and helpful 👍

hi guys, try turning off ''stabilization'', you'll find something different.

What version are you using? I tried with stabilization off, and there is still a delay.
