    Hang on people. The only reason Royal Enfield even exists today as a brand is because the Indian Army ordered 800 350 Bullets in 1954 to patrol these very mountain roads and guess what? They had 19 inch front wheels. Steve McQueen and his entire generation raced 650 desert sleds and all of them had 19 inch front wheels. In 2004 Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman rode 20,000 miles on the "Long Way Round" on 19 inch front wheels. Personally, I rode the 7,350 mile TAT in 27 days on a bike with a 19 inch front wheel (rumoured to be an unofficial world record), but apparently NOW it is suddenly impossible to even consider that a bike can perform at all off-road at all without a 21 inch front wheel. Hello? I mean please check out and respect history dudes. 19 inch front wheel motorcycles not only concurred the Himalayas in 1954 but also 20 years earlier the Sahara desert in 1934 when two British ladies were the first people ever to cross it with a motorised vehicle, a Panther motorcycle. Speaking as a Brit myself, I have to say, please, take a breath and respect history. All the world records were achieved with a great deal less suspension travel than the excellent Scram and none of them had a 21 inch front wheel.

    I had a 650cc Yamaha XS with an air cooled parallel twin engine from 1980 to 1985. The 50 horsepower and air cooling made it very hot in the summer while waiting for red lights. The single cylinder and 411cc should help keep a huge wave of heat rising up towards you while the bike is stopped during the summer. The KTM and Husky single cylinder bikes are ones to also check out, for not too much more money.

    Jinno I just discovered your channel today. I’ve enjoyed your reviews very much. I’m still a beginner rider having only ridden for 1 year. I have a Kawasaki Z400 which is by no means a huge bike. But it’s got some kick to it and I find myself going really fast on it (100 mph) and doing wheelies on it. I’m 52 years old and have 2 young girls. So I’m seriously considering trading the Kawasaki for something tamer but still enjoyable like the Scram 411 or Classic 350.
    My grandparents are from Cebu. They migrated to Hawaii about 95 years ago to work on the sugar cane plantation. My Filipino roots are so incredibly important to me. So it made me very happy to find your channel 🙂

    • @friktionrc
      @friktionrc Рік тому

      Mind if I ask what made you chose a Z400 for a first bike? Were you looking to slowly move up to say a 600 or litre bike? I only ask as I would like to ride - my heart says suzuki hayabusa but the more. I look into alternative bikes I’ve been seeing Royal Enfield 650 Continental / Interceptor and now this 411 Scrambler. I only ever plan to buy one bike and ride it until I decide to stop priding. The Hayabusa for me is like the F40 of bikes, sure there are faster bikes but its just the case of owning one that will do it for me. I wont be filtering and be just happy to sit in traffic (majority of my riding would be innner city / town riding)….but then I have always loved scramblers (since a kid in the 1970s!!) but thing is compared to the Conti & International the 411 is less powerful…but then if I want more power I should just go for a Hayabusa…..And so the merry-go-round keeps spinning lol

    • @MrSpeed-lt8gr
      @MrSpeed-lt8gr Рік тому +1

      @@friktionrc for me it was the fact that I was a complete beginner. I had no experience riding a motorcycle in my entire life. I wanted something with a more upright riding position and something that would go absolutely out of control. It was a wonderful first bike. I eventually got a Triumph Bonneville T100 because I just love the look of those classic British motorcycles.

    Thanks for this interesting ride report in the Himalayas with the Royal Enfield Scram 411. I am thinking about buying one. I have ridden a Himalayan 411 in Nepal, also in the Himalayas and found the bike and the engine very good. But the Scram 411 looks more classic and I want to ride it here in Sweden where we have a lot of gravel and sand roads, mostly old country roads that are not so good for a normal street bike. I usually ride these roads on my Kawasaki KLX 250 Enduro, but the engine doesn't have the classic character of the 411 long stroke engine. Thanks for the video, I enjoyed it and it reminded me of my 2019 time in Nepal. Greetings, Sven

    I think the Scram Royal Enfield can be converted to 6 speed gears clutch, if there other brand of bigbikes that match the sizes and shape of the Clutch housing(clutch basket), clutch lining and clutch friction plates, so that the 5 gears will changed to 6 gears. My point of view that can be really trully done.

    What is the mileage of scram 411 ? in city and same for classic 350? Which is better between these two bikes?

    • @thetorontoscrambler
      @thetorontoscrambler 2 роки тому

      If I remember right, the Scram 411’s mileage is around 38km/L whereas the Classic 350’s is close to 41km/L. (Though your actual mileage will vary based on your riding style)
      Re Classic 350 is marginally better for mileage. It is more of a cruiser type bike. Scram 411 is a tad more peppy and versatile. But both are more than capable to be city riders.
      (Personally, I like the styling on the Classic more.)

And anyone who is questioning the quality of RE. Try to ride the same ride as in the video on a KTM. You would not make it halfway.

    Brother give your honest reviews and not what you're paid to tell (If you were paid to do the review of the bike)... Wow, no single accessories on the bike like a top box or pioneer mounts... So yeah it'll give you mileage and shock absorbers will work good, however, will all the riders go like you... The bike is very sluggish and chokes even in low altitudes and you're claiming that it did well in high altitudes... I do own the RE Scram 411, even while riding, you'll get cooked because of the heat produced by the engine, so let's not even talk about the heat conditions when you're in traffic or when have to move slowly... Headlight is the worst... You'll not be able to see anything during night rides and if there's a vehicle coming from the opposite side with a high beam, then you'll definitely be kissing the potholes or the speed breakers because the light provided by the bike does not do any justice for visibility... The mileage is not even consistent (38 km??? You'll never get that mileage), the service of RE is worst, and they get offended when we say that there is some problem with the bike... Some people might ask, why did you buy the bike if you say so many complaints? The reason is very simple, MONEY... It has not even been one month and the bike is already having issues with the tappet... Please do justice to your work because R&D in RE is not doing justice to the bikes...

    If you want to show south east asian viewers how well it performs, take it into the jungles in the Philippines, let's see how it handles rivers, steep muddy banks and slippery logging trails that's if Royal Enfield dares to do it.
