This game is honestly insulting, they thought we're too stupid to realize how shoddy, soulless and lazy this game is. The fact that Todd said the game only started to feel fun last year of developers speaks volume on how hellishly messy the making of this game was...

I've been playing every single one of their Elder Scrolls and Fallout titles on release since my first ever video game, Morrowind. If anyone was going to give them the benefit of the doubt, it was me. I love this engine with all its jank, I don't care about facial animations that fall behind what Cyberpunk had accomplished years before, all they really had to do was make an engaging world with fun quests and interesting characters, and despite having a whole fresh universe to create in, and having a talented team of voice actors, they just... failed. It's so disappointing.

@@beadymore Playing all their older games makes it a lot more obvious that this one is not a new game in a new series with a different world and such because you can feel it in so many core mechanic wise places that it's the old games with a reskin. What's worse is that it overall feels less than the older ones.
What i mostly didn't like about it is the approach on mechanics and skills and the core gameplay, the combat and leveling up and perks and such. I wanted to spend time making builds and really having different ways to play it and be fun in each separate specific way. Like play all guns with different inclinations, or all melee or all gadgets or powers and such, maybe no combat at all and just stealth or just talking and influencing people. But it's not like that... It's the same as the old games but worse because what you had in older games you don't have here.
Take the stealth kill animations from Skyrim where the character cut throats, or the melee combat or unarmed combat in Skyrim and Fallout 4 where you have kill animations pushing your two handed sword through the enemy or grabbing the enemy and doing a wrestle takedown. Those animations are not in Starfield.
The jetpack in starfield is so simple and bland and also comes at a lot of investment to upgrade it while in Fallout 4 it's just a module you add to your power armor. And you also have variations on how it performs or what you can do using it, like a good combo with your ability to drop and make a shockwave and damage enemies all around.
The older games even if way too similar are more complex or at least give you that feeling. In Starfield you don't even have unarmed weapons like gloves and brass knuckles or something and you can't use their shitty favorite system to be able to go from weapons to unarmed streamlined during the fight without having to pause your game going in menu do unequip weapon. A thing that was totally possible in Skyrim and Fallout. The melee combat was kind of janky in all i was expecting some improvements like rolling and dashing or lunges, grapples and such and not something downgraded.
Being a bad game is not an engine issue like many are saying but it's a design issue, really is bad as a choice. And seeing this shit show of "a new game, new idea and innovation" you can bet your ass they will totally fuck TES6 too.

I can accept that a lifeless ice world will be very empty. A habitable planet with life tends to be more interesting, but still gets old pretty quickly. Though when it came to our solar system, I actually liked to set foot on those empty rocks. Felt very immersive... until you realized some of the moons were not tidally locked and you could see their main planets moving across the sky. Didn't happen for all of them, though, which was weird.
No, what really disappointed me about the game was that little of the storylines themselves felt engaging enough. Worth replaying. Nope.

To those folks who purchased the game, especially those who pre-ordered. I'm not making fun of you or shaming you. What I want to say is, don't buy into the hype train.
Wait for the dust to settle and see what's what. I pre-ordered Cyberpunk 2077 on PS4. Yeah... It was a pain. I swore never again, but then I said Elden Ring would be an exception. And you know what? It wasn't even that good (*for me, having played the entire Souls/Sekiro/Bloodborne series multiple times).
It's never worth it. First and foremost, in the economic sense (70 dollars? Seriously?). And secondly, in terms of disappointment. Except for those extremely rare cases when a game is an instant classic: It's not the end of the world to wait a week or two to play. You'll still be on time for the post-premiere meme and praising train. Oh, and Cyberpunk is pretty nice eventually, but I repurchased it for almost one-third the original price. On different platform. After 1.6 patch. I just could have waited.

I've been playing this for 3wks now after coming from PS5..
    I have some opinion.
    Pros:
    • Main Mission design is engaging and the NPC reactions to your decisions keep me playing just to play the saviour of the wasteland with an edge.
    • Your companions can completely ditch you with outrage if you kill innocents. Reactive. and not just sworn to carry your burdens.
    • Lots of cool weapons and ships to earn or steal.
    Cons:
    • lots of pointless fetch quests from idiot NPCs who can't work out their own affairs. I equally dislike and put up with (for XP) these ambient activities. I enjoyed a quest where I took tourist's to Jupiter's moon Titan through fast travel. Hope they liked the loading screens.
    • planets are barren, although do have points of interest. They boil down to a few procedural generated "Earth like" events because that's all we know since Bethesda are as creative as dogmeat chasing his own tail then dying on against an early game trio of ghouls. I gave him a fatman he sadly wasn't progressive enough to use it.
    • NPC quest givers from groups like Crimson Fleet or SysDef are whiny ass itches. You wish they were funny like something out Fith Element movie or I uttered a line like "Get your ass to Mars" from Total Recall. Where's the cool hip references that we come to expect from games like these.
    • I can boot up Fallout 3 and run around the same landscape and find more enjoyment in a barren wasteland than this.. tho I enjoyed the Freestar rangers questline that unlocked a few nice things. Not better than the Mantis spacesuit but the ship is great.
Now to find the Earth constant ship again who last requested a new grav drive just like Bethesda need a better engine 😂

I'll stick with NMS for the time being but I wish there was something new ( and good ) on the market for space traveling gamers. I understand NMS is old and content was added throughout the years but it seems Starfield was made with the "let's let the modders add the stuff later" mindset instead of "we'll add the stuff later" mindset which wasn't the best either but at least showed some will from the developers. But NMS has its code where you are the center and everything loads around you as you go. Starfield the locations are loaded they have their own center where you dropped your ship at they are fixed because of the items would sink into the planet. Remember that starfield is not mmo, starfields a triple AAA UHD single player game with many story line missions unlike nms which is a cartoony ps4 era game. Yes but why make a game that has nothing in it for 90% of the experience. In terms of realism, they knocked it out of the park but in terms of making an engaging and fun video game … absolutely sucks

@@siltonyF1nk99 Dude, you literally landed on Ice Moon with 1 Biome and no life forms, what do you wanted to find there beside resources? It is an Astronomical Body that just exists in a system and do orbit around other Astronomical Body, like, you know, in real boring Planetary Systems. They can sometimes be just to be, because Bethesda made tools to make them fast enough and filled a systems to make them look in a whole belivable enough by making an obvious necessary sacrifice in the form of fullness of the game content of each planet.

It looks like Bethesda is going through the same growing pains that Hello Games experienced in the early days of No Man Sky.

Yep. Except Hello games doesn’t have much to invest in when looking at different IP,s so they doubled down and achieved one of the greatest comebacks in gaming history. Bethesda I fear, will just shy away from the criticism and hit the gas on another project.
