boy did they ever pick the right guy to sing this. he owns it.

@@Konigsberg39Hell yesss
@@Konigsberg39 George is better
Absolutely the best tribute performance I’ve seen. He did Freddie Mercury proud.
yes i agree to 100%
Agreed
The only singer to get close. What a voice.
Fantastico, insuperabile. Voce grandiosa.
@GarageGambler I was talking about the artists that appeared at the FM tribute concert.
Only George Michael could sing this song, in loving memory of Freedie!!!!
I think the same. That Both had the same energy.
@@martagrzegocka4432 bruh, both gays and british
I think George had just lost his lover to aids b4 this performance so ads to the personal vibe in his extraordinary performance. May George and Freddie rip george defo did him proud in this cover 👍🇬🇧✌️❤️
No disrespect to Freddie Mercury, but this is the best performance of this song I have seen.
George Michael NEVER disrespected Freddie. In fact, George nailed the song.
RIP George Michael
Freddie always said that the finest voice in British music belonged to George. They admired one anoter greatly and the band so appreciated this performance. The joy on their faces was palpable. With George they found some sense of the magic that had been Queen with Freddie out front. I wish he'd joined them tbh.
Listen to Marc Martel!

@@monicahotchkiss4017You’re confusing impersonation and simply an epic vocal performance.
George always said he was self conscious but when he got on that stage he was electric. You can't take your eyes off of him. He's amazing.
100%. it’s fantastic but i kept finding myself annoyed whenever they cut away from George 😂
@@seanbauer9180 I hear ya. I get irritated that many of the music videos are so dark but I really can't complain because a lot of kind people made it possible for us to enjoy them. And I sure do enjoy them.🤭
Probably the only one who could‘ve filled Freddies shoes
NO......Nobody can.................Adam is Killing it though.........R.I.P. Freddie Mick Ronson , David Bowie , George Michael.....apart from Live Aid, the best concert ever !!.................xoxoxo
@@georgiehollander2199yes, he can
@Spanky YEAH YOU GOT THAT RIGHT! 👍GEORGE SURE DID❤️❤️BLESS HIS SWEET HEART.🤍🕊️ GONE WAY TOO SOON 12 25 2016 💔
Genau
the smile on Brian May’s face when the crowd responded with “love” says it all, it was as if Freddie was signing it himself that night!!! RIL Music legends
I agree. 👏
That was so sweet.
@@katwil89 너무나도 그립고 위대한 보컬들~~
yeah loved that too, in fact u could see all the back up singers and the drummer, Roger Taylor smiling too :)
Absolutely! May was diggin it for sure
George Michael's finest performance.
A stunning tribute to his late friend.
True that
Da Stimme ich 100% zu
Who else got goosebumps? This was amazingly beautiful 😍 RIP Freddie and George
Every time I hear or watch this version, tears run down my eyes
Same. There is something so special about this performance that's second to none. I also cry each time I see it.
I did ❤
Ich
Meeee, all the time I see it. From the very first time I saw it until now. I.’ve seen it millones of times and still counting!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
"George Michael was the best. There's a certain note in his voice when he did 'Somebody to Love' that was pure Freddie."
-Queen guitarist Brian May on Michael's performance at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert.
He raised the high vibes to outer space for Freddie. Amazing grace George Michael.
2023, and I'm still getting chills over watching the only artist who could have possibly matched Freddie in this almost religious rendition of arguably Queen's greatest song.
Agree!!
I couldn't agree more. Let me make your words my very own, word for word.
I agree 😂
You and me both. It's awesome.
2024 and counting...
He had that enormous audience in the palm of his hands!❤️
George always had an audience in the palm of his hands❤️. One of his amazing gifts❤️🎤
This is my absolute favorite song of all time, and this is the ONLY cover of it I accept and love just as much as the original. George Michael took us all to church just as much as Freddie did. What a stunning talent he had.
Amen sister..!!!
Yes
Fabulous
I swear
My love song for ever
This is such a difficult song to sing. No wonder Queen asked him to do it. Like Brian said in an interview, "I knew he could do it".... And do it he did! There is no way to overstate this man's musical brilliance. RIP George... we will always be listening❤.
Queen didnt ask him to sing this song. It was him, who wanted to sing this song and the band agreed.
@@miazga3 I'm not sure where you got that information from but George said they asked him to sing it.
@@PFCD I didn't know he said that. I got the information from 2021 movie Freddie Mercury - The Final Act
Rehearsing for 5 days for the Concert, the other artists rehearsed 1 time!
@@miazga3 you are right! Try to watch 'Freedom uncut', a great document that he did about these years, you will have a great understanding of this man and what he went through! Best regards from Paris!👍💖
In George Michaels documentary I’ve learned that during this performance, George knew his partner had aids and would die of it. He sung this song for him. Knowing that makes this performance even more chilling and powerful!
His partner was backstage. A decade or so later, George said it in an interview. No one knew his partner had AIDS, but George said in the interview he had only found out days earlier Alsemo was dying, and he angry, which was why his performance was so powerful. He wanted everyone to know Alsemo name, and was his partner. He loved him very much.
I think that George Michael needs a tribute concert
yes
Not too many greats left to sing his songs.
yes but do you see some new nice band or solo thing ? hm ?
I agree but no one can sing George's songs like he did. He raised the bar so high.
It would have to be a one-man show by Adam Lambert.
George Michael killed this.... Damn!!!!
GEORGE SURE DID KILL IT! ❤
The voice, the movements, the look. Unique talent.
Michael had the stage presence, the voice and the command of a crowd. Musical legend.
I’m surprised the stage didn’t burst into flames during this performance! George, the band, the backing vocals, the audience… ON FIRE! I get goosebumps every time I watch it, and it’s especially great since the visuals are clearer after being remastered. Thank you!
Well said, I definitely agree
4:00 - Brian May is totally proud of George Michael's performance and interaction with the audience. Worthy of Freddie.
Even John Deacon looks like he's actually enjoying this.... That says a lot...
George took us to CHURCH! Damn, that man could sing!
Took all these years to notice... At the last shot, as George is walking off, you can see Brian applauding...
Probably the greatest cover performances live off all time. Literally has everything. Pitch perfect , massive engaged crowd . Sublime
El mejor tributo del mundoooo!!! no habrá otro igual! si tuviera que revivir a alguien sin dudas elijo a la Reina!!! Larga vida!!!!!!
The way he is able to get the audience and get them all excited is amazing. Miss him too
How is he so perfectly in tune without any in ear monitors even? Incredible!
Because George Michael was a performer who could actually sing. Much unlike most of todays artists.
you can see at Brian May's face that he was so pleased at George;s cover of this song. greatest cover i have ever watched🥰🥰🥰
This is a perfect tribute and BOY did he do this song justice. Rest in Peace George
What a gift this man was. Heaven is going to sound beautiful!
George Michael stole the show with this performance with Queen! BEST SONG at this tribute concert! R.I.P. the great Freddie Mercury and George Michael
He did not have to say "come on" to the audience, they would still have come back to him, what an amazing performance!!
I saw him being interviewed about that tribute concert. He said it was the way everyone went down in decibels at the end of the song that he found the greatest moment.
It’s like we’ve lost everything good about life, the musical talent, LIFE everything! Now it’s just influencers and talentless people……life will never be this good again!! The music, the singers, the quality of products, everything is rubbish now the furniture, the cars, the tv shows it’s all gone to sht. It just all hit me in this moment that we can never get back the quality of life we once had!
The best tribute ever. It makes me cry and think I wish I was there. Serious goosebumps. Freddie and George always x
George Michael was one of the very few that could perform at the same level as Freddie.
The amount of talent on display here is just mind boggling
God bless you George...you're still the best. Only you could do a tribute so perfect for Freddie.
Probably the best performance in this tribute concert
Easily the best. Most of the performances were pretty bad.
Absolutely! No one even came close! Love George so much 💗
@@crankfastle8138 Completely agree there. One example being Elton and Axl mangling Bohemian Rhapsody. That was just embarrassing.
James Hetfield did pretty well on Stone Cold Crazy.
I watch this and my heart breaks that both George and Freddy are now gone. Two of the greatest vocalists in modern times. At least we have some of their performances on film, like this one.
This effing Greek had everything - the voice, the looks, performer's talent, timeless songs and this rendition to Queen and FM....CHILLS!❤
THAT'S A VERY HARD SONG TO SING. AND GEORGE DID THAT.❤❤
Chills. Every single time I see this.
me too...
this perfomance is so good it feels like the soul of Freddie Mercury took over George Michael and was like let's sing this together!
George and Freddie both had unique vocal instruments. Only George could have paid this tribute to Freddie, no one else on the planet could have hit the notes.
Just pure genius. Freddie is smiling somewhere. George is next level brilliant here. He put it all out there.
Look Brian´s face after the people sing "Love" ... George Michael nailed it!
It's really amazing. Only George Michael could sing as well as Freddie. They are both gone and I will miss them.
8/23/2023
Here watching and crying my eyes out. George honored Freddie's memory with a STUNNING performance. What a charisma, what a voice! ❤️ Freddie would have been proud!
Surely this must be one of the best covers EVER!!!
This is the dopest performance ever!!!!
This was the only time someone did a Queen song better than Freddie! OMG. What a phenomenal performance from the brilliant late George Michael!!.
This performance will forever be among the top most important moments in Pop Music history. Long after all of us are gone, new generations who are not even born when George Michael and Freddie passed away will watch this...and be amazed and flabbergasted at how great a performance this was.
RIP Freddie & George. It makes me jealous to imagine both of you having a ball on the afterlife doing concerts together every night and having a great time forever!!
Exactly 💯
Better than Freddie? 🤔 Obviously not. 🙄 Otherwise fully agreed! 🫶
yup...better than Freddie@@aageseljegard8730
❤one of the best voices ever!!!.He died much too young😢😢😢
Without a doubt the most electric, hair standing performance of that night. Wow...fkn wow.
❤❤... Pure genius, so missed George. Keep singing with the angels Freddie & David Bowie 😢 xx
Can we just give props to Roger Taylor for playing the hell out of the drums ? He was definitely leading this song right along w George and you can tell how in sync they were by George keeping eye contact w him throughout.
George a Genius... Only a Genius can cover and pay tribute to a genius
Freddie would be proud of such a performance ,bravo ❤❤❤
Agree!!
Never knew what a brilliant singer George Michael was since I heard this. Bless him.
George really channeled Freddie on that song. Like Freddie, George had phenomenal stage presence and had the audience in the palm of his hand. RIP to both music icons. ❤
I am very sad that Michael and Freddie have already left us. Both had a voice range of almost 4 octaves. And in my opinion, Michael was the only one who could sing intonation and pitches equally well. Hello to heaven.❤
Truly amazing talents. I am also particularly amazed at how Axl Rose could sing over 5 octaves back in the day.
@@catarinaisabelleExcept Axl sounded awful in comparison.
George was sensational Freddie would have loved that performance 😎
I was never a fan of George Michael and his music, so when I watched this performance I was blown away totally. I'd never thought George Michael had so powerful vocal. He did this song almost like Freddy. That made me think that in some parallel universe George could be a perfect fit for Queen to continue their career. Especially knowing how brilliant songwriter George was.
George Never got the credit he deserved. He was brilliant. His voice was amazing and his stage presence was absolutely commanding. He did Freddie proud in this song, but more so, he did himself proud. ❤
He got a ton of deserved credit.
Totally. He had the gift and a lovely man as well
I still get some dirt in my eyes when I look at this video. Brian May's face, remembering Freddie.
Freddie aurait été fier de cette intérprétation inégalable.
Une minute de silence pour eux deux!
Yes! I'd forgotten how brilliantly good this performance by George was!!!
My favourite song of ALL time!
How sad am I?... xx
This Is FANTASTIC!!!!!LOVE George Michael
I thought he was gonna be just another pretty boy pop star. But his solo stuff is just incredible!
The best performance I’ve ever seen! Absolutely amazing!
Somebody... Cheers from Poland! LoVe to George!
George was without a doubt a brilliant musical artist with an incredible voice who is one of the greatest artists that has ever walked the planet. What a loss to the music world and Humanity.....
Best song by George - ever. ❤❤❤A very hard song to nail. RIP George
One of the greatest singers of all time paying tribute to one of the greatest singers of all time.
Exactly
This
As far as I know, the only cover sang in the original key, meaning George was the beast we thought he was. An amazing man paying tribute to another amazing man. Sadly we’ve had to bid farewell to them both. The older I get, the more we lose. I wish I could go back and see them live one last time.
Your comment has me in tears, you are so right. I never got into George, but loved loved loved Freddie. Now I have to listen to George here on UA-cam. Death sucks.
Two gentlemen that went to bloody early
Both were extremely talented and accomplished vocalists, unique and of another time Very much missed
U know I grew up on gangsta rap and rnb but damn do I have an appreciation fir this, rip to goats, I just saw 2 days ago we lost Ray liotta, I hate getting older, this was an amazing tribute
I saw this live on television, George sanged this song!!!!
Bro… this has to be one of the most gorgeous and most powerful concert tributes of all time.
George Michael at his very finest.
There was nobody better nor will there ever be a better performer to do justice to Freddy Mercury .
You're so right!
Oh dear George, Freddie will have been so proud of you, I hope you were too….
That has to be the ultimate "Rock Star" performance.
He was the best singer of the show. 👑
This is without a doubt the single greatest vocal delivery ever,GM made this song his own
Wow! What a performance!!..George was unbelievably gifted!! Just like freddie! They are true legends!
Best performance in the entire tribute concert!
RIP Freddie and Michael, miss you both ❤
Omg George was so beautiful! His voice was perfection. This tribute is chilling!
One of the most incredible performances in the entire history of Rock. Full emotion, tears flow. Thank you forever, Queen. R.I.P. Freddie. R.I.P. George 😢😢😢🤙🤙🤙
Every time I watch this..... I have the same answer... A real Professional performing this song. not Freddie... But Damn Goood.... Wow
George, despite being a superstar, was still heavily underrated. Missing you, a gentle soul 💔
George understood the assignment!
THIS is how you perform a tribute 👏 👏👏 RIP Freddie & George ❤
A real maestro at the height of his powers as a performer. May he rest in peace. Always.
Puedo escuchar esta version mil veces. Con respeto hacia Freddy Mercury que es de mis favoritos,la verdad George Michael hizo esta cancion suya. Es impresionante
Absolutely gorgeous..that performance reached Heaven. ❤
Absolutely spine tingling performance
I totally AGREE!! Spine tingling even after the 100th playback!!!❤️
It was a perfect, magic, utterly astonishing performance. I bet Freddie was so proud of him that night.
OMG YES! 👍GEORGE MICHAEL REALLY KILLED THAT SONG! ❤️ I LOVEEE IT! MAY 12 2024.
Totally absolutely fantastic the smile on Brian May's face says it all
Much better than the original... I'm sorry, Freddy, and I will always love you, wherever you are. ❤
George Michael war der beste Act auf dem Konzert. Man spürte dass es ihm persönlich viel bedeutet hat das Lied zu singen. ❤❤❤
