If there was anyone whose voice was also enormous, it was George Michael's! However, nobody can stand in Freddy's footsteps, but George was the best choice to perform this song. It is such a shame we lost both George and Freddy. They were so good!!! Oh, and this song... it is so full of rythm, it's like a heartbeat! Absolutely great! I loved this song in the 70's and I still love it now! Timeless!

2023, and I'm still getting chills over watching the only artist who could have possibly matched Freddie in this almost religious rendition of arguably Queen's greatest song.
Freddie always said that the finest voice in British music belonged to George. They admired one anoter greatly and the band so appreciated this performance. The joy on their faces was palpable. With George they found some sense of the magic that had been Queen with Freddie out front. I wish he'd joined them tbh.
I think George had just lost his lover to aids b4 this performance so ads to the personal vibe in his extraordinary performance. May George and Freddie rip george defo did him proud in this cover 👍🇬🇧✌️❤️
In George Michaels documentary I’ve learned that during this performance, George knew his partner had aids and would die of it. He sung this song for him. Knowing that makes this performance even more chilling and powerful!

No one knew his partner had AIDS, but George said in the interview he had only found out days earlier Alsemo was dying, and he angry, which was why his performance was so powerful. He wanted everyone to know Alsemo name, and was his partner. He loved him very much.
This is my absolute favorite song of all time, and this is the ONLY cover of it I accept and love just as much as the original. George Michael took us all to church just as much as Freddie did. What a stunning talent he had.

For me personally, the only man who ever could replace the vocal ranges of Freddie...was this man. George Michael, his vocal range was often overlooked, but given the opportunity to perform this song he showed why he was the right choice to perform it as a tribute. For me personally, the only man who ever could replace the vocal ranges of Freddie...was this man. George Michael, his vocal range was often overlooked, but given the opportunity to perform this song he showed why he was the right choice to perform it as a tribute. RIP Freddie and George, I can only imagine the jams and duels you're both having up there in heaven.
His range was only overlooked by those who didn’t bother listen to him. He was widely acknowledged as having an incredible voice and range.
I couldn't agree more, he was of a generation that was vocally gifted like Freddie. If only people would shut up and actually listen...
