learned so much. Just an idea, I think people will like, but lot of work. Five different videos (just for Romantics (me..i think!), just for Gamines, just for Dramatics, ""Classics, "" Naturals.. that would help one individual really learn all about themselves. You could review the types, wait until 20-30 seconds in to say, please see my Just for "blank" video if you are this body type. .. maybe??
Aly, I have an idea. What if you make some Pinterest boards for each of the body types, something we can follow and get a general idea of the styles out there for our body type?
That would be so much effort on her end with no reward for her tho? Like would you spend hours on doing smth like that? Why can't you just do more research or buy the book by Kibbe to "get a the general idea of the styles out there".
@@mint.neighbor I have read the book and done my research. I even have my own Pinterest board with styles that I think match my body type. I just see a bunch of people requesting aly to make all these videos tailored to their own individual needs. It takes a long time to Google all these pictures and edit her videos meanwhile Pinterest doesn't take a lot of effort. She doesn't have to do a ton of research to find what she's looking for and its easy to use in her spare time.
Soft Gamine here: THANK YOU ALY!!! These videos have changed my fashion game 110%. Almost no day goes by now that someone doesn't tell me how good I look. I never knew why certain things made me look so bad, now I do. I throw my edgy, punk style into your recommendations for soft gamine and I love the way I look.
Someone asked this on a previous video. Aly said it would take forever for her to make one video for each type. She also didn't want one type to wait several weeks.
I’d love to see you do everyday “basics” for each type. Like everyday clothing items that you think would be most flattering to each body type and that they should definitely have in their closets. i.e. straight jeans, wide legged trousers, collared shirts, etc. I really enjoy these videos but sometimes feel like I don’t really know how to apply the information to a run-of-the-mill wardrobe.
I went to a wedding yesterday, and I wore a dress and shoes that fit my body according to these rules. Literally everyone complimented me! Thank you for these videos Aly ❤
I was buying dresses in December, and I thought "what type of dress Aly would recommend for romantic?" and now I see I got it mostly right. Thanks for the video, great as always
Hi, Aly! Would a theatrical romantic with longer limbs still be that shape? A video on the difference between a soft classic and the theatrical romantic would be helpful.
Fantastic as always. I have to say that you made my life so much easier. Now when I’m shopping I can see clearly what to buy and what not to buy. I love the look of oversized sweaters with midi skirts and now I know why every time that I tried I always felt was something wrong, odd, so I thought was the wrong sweater with the wrong skirt, but now I see why never is going to work. My body type is dramatic classic.
Aly i have enjoyed watching all the body type series videos. I think it would be great if you could give each type a single video and show some great outfits and examples.
My shoulders are a bit wide and somehow it makes me look 'compact', so I've noticed I look better in low cut dresses/shirts (v-shaped, not square), as it makes my neck look longer and I look slimmer and more elegant that way. Spaghetti straps also aren't good for wide shoulders, they only make them look wider, same with off-shoulder dresses/shirts I think.
I love your vocabulary when talking about body types! I come to your videos because it not “you look like this fruit so this is how to make it look like you have an hourglass shape” it really is a body type! And it makes me feel more comfortable with my body when thinking about what I should wear. Flesh, Juicy, Bones, Lines, Roundness, Smaller, Feminine, Delicate, Frame and Bone structure are far better at explaining the female body and figure than celery, apple, pear and other foods or objects.
How about jeans for body type? 😍 i just found out I’m soft natural and i compared my looks on my pictures. I don’t look good on a very tight and looks best on relaxed unconstructed cuts. I own some bodycon dresses but when I compared, i actually look better with something more relaxed texture. I made a closet check, and I realized, the least used clothes of mine are my bodycon dresses and my tailored blazer.
Can you do a video on jewelry for the body types? rings specifically. I'm trying to pick an engagement ring, and as a theatrical romantic many styles are too bulky for me.
Everytime I think I finally found my body type... I watch a video and I am totally off again! :') Except for Gamine... I basically think I could be any type. Romantic, TR, SD, SC, SN.... I literally have no clue.
I dunno you suggest long and baggy for my body type (flamboyant natural) but personally i look best body tight on my upper half and baggy or full on my bottom half. Fully baggy clothes make me look completely shapeless and much taller than i am. A great look is "baggy extra long jumper with boots" but this look just makes me look large, wide and unflattering while simultaneously making me look flat as a pancake and skinny in all directioans. I prefer to create a more defined shape with an emphasised waist (eventhough i already have a small waist) and tight upper body with a fuller bottom (my go tos are short and midi skater skirts, tulip/non body hugging/A lineish pencil skirts, joggers and jeans which crumple up a bit(not skin tight skinny)) i feel like this body typing system suggests clothes which emphasise the body but do not flatter it.
You wear what flatters you! The Body Types are just a guideline, and you are right, some of us want to create a certain look that plays up certain features that we like.
Soft Dramatic here. Nice to get some more ideas on what would look nice on me. It's usually hard for me to find things i like on myself. Turns out I've been looking for the wrong silhouettes. Great video!
Great video. I’m still unsure of my body type because the test results sugest I am flamboyant natural but the description of soft dramatic fits much better. I love your eyemakeup. Would be lovely to see a tutorial! Thank you.
Aly, could you please do Work Outfits video for business casual? As a Flamboyant Natural body type, long loose maxi dresses won't fit the office environment. Thank you.
I have such a hard time discerning between theatrical romantic and soft classic...I've watched all your videos, and done some internet/Pinterest research, and I still find myself confused on my own type. You're doing a marvelous job! I just feel myopic when it comes to myself, I guess.
I can do both those styles, too. I was so torn up about it, but then realized that there is going to be a lot of overlap between types! Just wear what looks good, and don't worry about pigeonholing yourself. :)
Hey Aly! I really am intrigued by your videos on the body types, but it feels difficult to identify my own body type when all the images you choose as examples are of women with fairly low/minimal excess fat (relative to their body type). Can you make a video with larger BMI/bodied women for the body types??
Hey Aly, great video, I always love to watch them! I was wondering if you could do a video where you show what looks best on the different body types when they're "overweight" or how to find your body type despite being "overweight"... I'm pretty condifdent that I'm a flamboyant gamine but since I have wider hips, I feel like the suggestions here are pretty difficult for me to find in a store (a tailored dress that fits my hips will definitely be too large around the shoulders), which makes me question whether I actually found my correct body type... It would also be cool to see an example of someone of each type who actually is a bit heavier! :)
I think I am a flamboyant natural but I really love everything girlish, dresses that are flowy and very feminine with round shapes and light weight fabrics but those dresses always look really bad on me. I dont know what to do in order to achieve this feminine look with my more boyish and sharper look. Does anyone have an idea as to what I could do?
Yay! I'm so glad that you're continuing this series because I love it so much. But, it's kind of funny because I am still trying to figure out which body type I am 😅
I was struggling studying the types at first, but in this video there's the best explanation you need, will allow to create a conceptual scheme. Really good JOB Aly! 🐠❤️💜

Hi! I love your videos so much. Could you talk a little about Flamboyant Gamines? I am one and I'm currently having some trouble finding styles that suit me in my professional life. Many of the suggestions are just too out there for a serious office environment. General information and tips for Flamboyant Gamines would be great, too.
You have it down to a t! Soft dramatic, i always felt like waist focused dresses just looked better on me, and stayed away from things with hard structure.
For a long time I was choosing wrong dresses! It would be my size, but for some reason it wouldn't look so well and not always I could tell why. Some things I figured out myself, but now I see what exactly to look for! Thank you, Aly!
I always struggled with Kibbe typing, when I saw classic I just liked it so much, especially dramatic classic. I will follow my intuition and stick with it.
I couldn't tell which is my body type, but watching your videos about what clothes look good on each body type I think I'm a classic, because I think those are the clothes that suit me.
Okay, now I'm about 95 percent sure that I'm soft dramatic, except that I'm not that tall (but I look quite tall, and have been told multiple times that i have a strong physical 'presence'). Thanks for this video, Aly!
I was looking for a dress for myself to a dance I have in half a year (I'm soft natural) and I found a beautiful one and REALLY hoped you wouldn't tell me not to wear it. But it turns out that the dress was exactly like the ones at 14:47
Thanks. I had the sense of this for a good while. Theatrical romantic. 160 cm. Jada Pinkett Smith colour. Warm muted autumn. Just beginning to age at 43.
I've been doing some research into the body types and it had been so long since I took your test that I took it again via another site. My second most common was romantic, but my most common answers had no result. Apparently that's called "ingenue" and David Kibbe didn't include that body type. There's only a small amount of information about it online, but I was wondering if you had any thoughts or suggestions regarding that body type? Thanks!
I think you might be Theatrical Romantic. This is mostly D (as in your case) or E or a D/E mix - all three types with a a little A mixed in. Do you have a little sharpness or delicacy anywhere in your body? Or a few A answers (and very little B or C?) Do you have a feminine "pretty" and "youthful" face? Here is what one of the websites says for TR: "If your answers are dominant column E and/or column D, with several answers in column A as a secondary force: Soft Yin with a slight Yang undercurrent - Theatrical Romantic Note: To qualify for this theme, your body type (flesh) and your facial features should be Yin-dominant while your bone structure should be slightly Yang-influenced. "
I couldn't love this series more! Every video is great! For the one about dresses I was waiting for.. Btw just realised why my mum's dress (who is dramatic classic) looks weird on me (soft classic). I guess I just cant pull that super streight, no belt dress off.
I thought I was soft classic but I've found that both soft classic and soft natural clothes suit me. I actually think soft natural looks better and the description here about dresses is spot on for me. It's so confusing not knowing what I am for sure. But I am just going to go with "I'm a mix" *shrug*. Where my mixes at? 😂✌️
I might be a mix! I took the test and it was pretty inconclusive, so I took into consideration what clothes look best on me, and that led me to Theatrical Romantic. But I can also pull off Soft Classic and some Soft Gamine
@@lindenpeters2601 I've heard you can have a face that's one type and a body that's another so why not have a body that fits more than one type. So confusing though!
Classic is the most neutral style out there. Since it's neither yin or yang, the style can look ok on almost everyone but that doesn't mean they are those lines. Once you've found your true body lines and try on the style, you'll find that the style is what's going to suit you best. Have you tried Flamboyant Natural clothes? Flamboyant Natural clothes looks so edgy and badass on other Natural subtypes.
I'm 5'3. I have rounded wide shoulders, small waist and kinda fleshy arms and thighs with average sized bust and hips. I have a small face, with a delicate bone structure. I'm confused which one would define me better - soft natural or romantic?
Hi Aly, I love your body types serie! I have being waiting a video about skirts , that would be nice 😁 I think maybe it would be similar to dress but anyway I don't know for sure cause there so many types of skirts! However.. thank you very much for this videos.
I learned about the Kibbe body types from Aly and I absolutely love the concept. I want to order a custom made evening dress for balls (ball culture I quite big in Austria where I am from) and I want something timeless, elegant and of course perfect for my body type. I have a classic body type (very similar to grace Kelly’s) and was thinking that the skirt Party should starting right at my waist from either a chiffon or tulle fabric (floor length) with a thing belt in the same colour at the waist or parts of the fabric tied as a small bow in the back to emphasize the waist. I am really unsure about the top part though. Maybe strapless? Or a sweetheart with spaghetti straps/ small off the shoulder sleeves? Anyone has advice for me?
I still couldn’t figure out my exact body type, but watching this video does open my eyes to different types of outfit for each body type and expend my knowledge in fashion ☺️
So can you change between flamboyant/dramatic and soft within your body type? After watching your intro I still wasn’t sure if that’s a variable that can fluctuate or change throughout your life - even while keep your constant body “type” forever.
i feel like from the descriptions of the outfits i'm natural but i have wider hips than shoulders which leads me to think maybe theatrical romantic or soft classic, but i definitely don't like wearing symmetrical, neat and tailored items. I can, but they're not how i feel my best. It's so confusing!
I'm a deep autumn, so I don't look my best in pastel colors. How can Kibbe body types have anything to do with the coloring of one's skin? Also...is it not possible to have a Romantic body but a dramatic face? I find this very confusing and not quite convincing.
Is endeed possible to a person have romantic body and dramatic face or vice versa, actualy, this can happen with any body type. And I think also coloring is not related with body type, like,a dramatic can be suited with soft/ light colors and a romantic eith bright and dark.
Can someone explain the difference between soft dramatic and romantic ? Because to me 3:34 and 3:57 are romantic... If you're a tall romantic can you be considered a soft dramatic ? or are you theatrical romantic? Both have an hourglass body, softness and flesh over the bones (since the weight doesn't change the body type).

A very good, and useful video on body types. Best I’ve seen.
Thanks!
Do you remember the site you took the test on?

Have a look at the Merriam Style Channel. She also talks about Kibbe Body types as well as ingenue essence.
Here is what one of the websites says for TR:
"If your answers are dominant column E and/or column D, with several answers in column A as a secondary force:
Soft Yin with a slight Yang undercurrent - Theatrical Romantic
Note: To qualify for this theme, your body type (flesh) and your facial features should be Yin-dominant while your bone structure should be slightly Yang-influenced. "
Use Mcjimsey sistem. She had ingenue in her sistem, and was the most yin.
Hello beauty , plz make us a video showing all the types in their slim and fluffy situations 😘
love u and love ur videos aly.. u r really smart and professional.. and this makeup look is really gorgeous.. plz do a makeup tutorial on this look..
Aly, rename your channel to "the channel of the good taste" 😄 I love your videos !
Really? Telling people to dress by some arbitrary rules thta do not fit their personality?
I'm 5'3. I have rounded wide shoulders, small waist and kinda fleshy arms and thighs with average sized bust and hips. I have a small face, with a delicate bone structure. I'm confused which one would define me better - soft natural or romantic?
I'm petite (and short) yet have a some what, fit, curvy. I'm a teenager yet I'm fully developed. What type of body shape would that be?
I love your channel. I have learned that I'm a romantic body type and using the information to buy the most flattering outfits for myself :)
Best series
I still couldn’t figure out my exact body type, but watching this video does open my eyes to different types of outfit for each body type and expend my knowledge in fashion ☺️
So can you change between flamboyant/dramatic and soft within your body type? After watching your intro I still wasn’t sure if that’s a variable that can fluctuate or change throughout your life - even while keep your constant body “type” forever.
I saw another comment about this, but please do wedding dresses for the body types!!
I love your top! you could edit your own videos for each type. I'd watch my type over and over again until memorize everything
i feel like from the descriptions of the outfits i'm natural but i have wider hips than shoulders which leads me to think maybe theatrical romantic or soft classic, but i definitely don't like wearing symmetrical, neat and tailored items. I can, but they're not how i feel my best. It's so confusing!
What's your bone structure like? Are you blunt or have some dominant yang that shows through?
@@natarixo9965 definitely have some yang. quite sharp bone structure. i always felt like dramatic or natural described my face.
wedding dress body types
Your videos are so on point, so happy when they post!! 😊
Aly, great work! Wedding dresses for body types could be interesting and helpful too. PS: I am in love in dress in 7:59.
was that your singing? Holy shit! Your speaking voice is so soft and high pitched and all of a sudden - boom - that soulful rich voice!!
I love every body type series of yours.. the way u explain things.. i just hope u keep on adding on this body type series.. loads of love ❤❤❤❤
Wait what am i if I'm short and not curvy? (I didn't find that in the video because she mostly talks about hourglass figures)
Can you do a late 50s/1960s makeup tutorial for Brigitte Bardot? With the flicked wing eyeliner?
Aly has to do a version of this for wedding dresses!!!
Love your body type series ❤️ I'm a natural! Thank you for this information it's very helpful!
