You are so right Aly. As a dramatic every time I've tried to be more "femenine", I mean more lushy, pastelish, or soften my essence I've endep up looking like a drag! I love this system because it emphatizes not only the beauty but the uniqueness of every woman.
Me, too. I can't wear curly hair, or ruffles, or anything overtly cute and girly. My mom dressed me like that when I was a kid because she wanted Shirley Temple. Unfortunately what she got was Tilda Swinton. As a matter of fact, Tilda Swinton looked more Yin as a child than I did.
Okay, c'mon, let's spread some love for the drag community. 🥰 They are accomplished professionals and performers of style, way past these bodytype videos.
And I wish I could pull off these cool looking oversized and geometric shapes that you see a lot these days. The ones that look super clean and crisp. I just look hideous in it, they either make me look chubby or like I'm being kept prisoner by the stiff fabric! (I think I'm either theatrical romantic or soft gamine)
I would love to see one of your "selfish" videos talking about your kibbe body types journey and how it improved your self-esteem or how it changed the way you see yourself and other people!
Texture would maybe be an interesting topic to cover for a future video? I'm Flamboyant natural and a shiny black leather jacket looks horrible on me, while the same jacket in black suede looks amazing and just feels right. Put me in satin and lace and I look like a cougar thats trying to look my actual age again
YES YES YES PLEASE! I'm TR and I really struggle with picking the right fabrics. I look great in suede (or even shiny leather shoes and bags) and anything silk generally looks great or soft materials if they're woven but I have the hardest time making standard T-Shirt material work on me. It usually just doesn't sit right... Or maybe I'm going for the wrong shapes, who knows!
Yeah, I'm romantic and leather also looks awful on me, but I rock chiffon, silk, viscose, cotton. Jewerly has to be roundish and classy, like gold or pearls, something shiny. Wooden or plastic accesories look off on me.
As a DC I’ve recently cut my hair to what would have been my standard “mid-length” hair after years of trying to wear it long and wild - it suits me SO much better. I can’t wear anything that is “too” anything. Everything must be balanced!
Same here, as a classic i tried to follow trends ... Result was horrible, even if the clothes fitted me i looked ridicolous ;) We are destinied to look classy haha :)
I’m so happy I found you! I was doing all the wrong things for my romantic body type and wondering why I always feel frumpy. I’ve been changing my hair and wardrobe according to your Kibbe guidelines and feel and look so much better!!!!
As a TR myself I can confirm that oversized clothes, straight clothes, dropped waists, no waist emphasis and no details look absolutely horrible. I look short and fat. Also, my hair looks oily if it’s too sleek.
I agree. I always thought I ended up looking like a potato in a sack. I lived in asia where style tends towards loose but without waist emphasis and it drove me mad because it never worked for me. As a side note. I would love for her to do a new series delving into the specifics of how to do specific styles for each body type. For example, goth, boho, elegant, punk, and so on specifically for each body type. I think many people would love specific advice. Personally as a TR it was very challenging to figure out how to do casual looks without it looking crap because it was too simple. It feels like you always need accessories to save simple outfits.
I'm also a TR, and I gained weight during the Pandemic. My mother in law gave me a long turtle neck poncho, with embroidered flowers, which is nice, thinking it would help to hide my belly or something, but I just look so heavy... 20 kilos heavier.
Fully agree! My face has a lot of sharp lines and just judging by that and with the sharper shoulders I would look awesome in dramatic clothes. And I so wish I did! But every time I put on a longer or plain top I look so weirdly shaped. My curves just poke through the fabric as weird surprises that make no sense. Or I just look like 10 years older, 10 kilos heavier! I got some fun belts that should look tacky or over the top on most people (green alligator print, full metal gold and silver belt) and surprisingly they often save my outfits! Even a plain dress that has no details and no waist emphasis can become wearable with a belt like that wrapped around my waist. Same goes for handbags. I like cleaner lines but I always make sure to go for small bags with either a golden chain, embellishment or tassel detail. My boyfriend usually finds my bag choices too much / tacky looking but once I put them on it looks classy and like just the right amount of detail (or sometimes even still understated). So funny how that works!
What are your favorite brands or online stores to shop from? I’ve recently discovered that I’m a TR too and I’m still trying to figure out how I’ll create my new wardrobe.
SN with fine hair and not much of it - have always resisted the hairstylists' recommendations to cut my hair in a pixie style. I thought it would make my head look too small. Now I know that it wouldn't suit my vibe or my larger frame. Plus unnatural hair colour looks just wrong on me. Thanks!
Your instinct is right 💪🏻 I’m SN with fine hair, too. The shortest cut is a bob to the half of your neck I think. I wanna grow my natural color out and cut my hair on this length, it’s working ☺️
@@VanCrane Here i am, an SN with a bob cut, a little bit shorter than to half of my neck (donated the rest so wanted to go as short as possible), and with my natural hair. The amount of compliments from freinds and family, and freindly stares from strangers when the hair is styled in an SN-friendly way (loose curles with some "i woke up this way" ruffiness) makes me feel like a million bucks 😁 i too have pretty straight, flat hair when not styled, but the bob helps a lot with that even when not styled
Marvelous video as always! What really bothers me is the huge amount of people who are supposed to do their job and still dress their clients with the worst of the worst. It almost seems as if they were doing it on purpose.
I'm FG and can"t seem to make the leap! Even though I know I should. Have had long hair all my life and love the femininity of it... how did you do it? Help! LOL
as a DC I just realized why I always look so bad on vacation!! XD Messy hair + noisy prints+ random hat. The pictures @ 11:31 are so me when I'm at the beach.
Hi ladies, for our lovely Dramatics for 'beach/summer' -- check out "Resortwear" instead. Designers do "Resort" looks and are often much more sophisticated than boho beach. If you can't afford designer(like me! lol) it could give you some inspo, too. I just moved up from Miami and couldn't figure out why I always felt "off" in the bright tropical looks... and then learned omg I'm an Autumn SC?! Oops!!...let's polish this up a bit! I started to check out resortwear. Go forth and be fab!
@@superbettynow Yes! So many women (myself included) question our own beauty because we are working against ours and just don't realize it! Figuring out what makes you uniquely beautiful you is empowering. This is such a great channel. My best friend is a spunky gamine-don't dull your spark!
As someone in the romantic family, wide, long, no waist emphases, big platform shoes, unconstructed hair, heavy/dark makeup, heavy fabric, big/sharp shoulders, no details, and geometric patterns are not my best friend. Please feel free to add more!!
I’ve never identified with being fashionable or caring too much but this is so understandable to me. It’s like confirming things I’ve always picked up on
@@pjperkinz the funny thing is I always wanted to dress glamorous, sexy and a bit over the top but I never allowed myself to. Now that I do I don't look exaggerated at all!
Me too! I often gravitated to gamine clothes and hair styles…. Not embracing the power of my height and shape. What a game changer understanding my type.
I'm a soft gamine and every time I followed the traditional style guides to "conceal" or "balance" my curves (most of them made out of Romantic lines) I ended up looking wider, shorter and tired. Dolly-boyish is my vibe!
As a theatrical romantic (and I guess this would go for all romantics) waist emphasis is EVERYTHING! usually we have full chest and wide hips, so without our waist emphasis we just look like boxes 😅😅 but that can be a statement in itself and it is good to make informed decisions ❤️ Also, does anyone have a fashion suggestion for those days we are bloated and the waist emphasis unfortunately emphasises also the belly? I just wear loose shirts on those days, but that makes me feel not put together and you know how it is on thisr few days if the month, I would like to feel more confident and elegant. Thank you ❤️
I am R and have a fairly small bust but wide hips. I still really need that waist emphasis though to not look like a box. But on bloated days empire cut things are nice I think, to get a bit of waist but a loose fit over the stomach. Or maybe that works best if you have a small bust, idk 🤷♀️ That or shirts that are kind of loose but still have a shape, if that makes sense
@@formaldehyde3864 thanks! Such a shame that they don't really make nicely constructed clothes in my price range shops. It's usually the simplest straigh cut or body hugging stretchy fabrics for 'the curvy people'. Do you find that too?
@@mirecek0210 Yeah, unfortunately I do. And as romantic with soft flesh, I find I look like a sausage in a casing when I wear tight clothes 😅(But maybe that's just me.) I struggle with the bloated days as well, but trying to keep the outfit more thight above the waist, and then looser is what I find I need to do. Or wear something flowy that pulls in at the waist a bit. But it's not always easy to find what you need in the shops. Hope you can find something that works for you!
High waisted is my go-to. If you can do a nice soft top tucked into a high-waisted shorter skirt or paper bag shorts, it’s both so comfy for the bloating and also keeps our waist emphasis and feminine silhouette that we rock 🤗
Honestly, you're a style genius, you are able to break down aspects that not many would notice (like the Faye Dunway analysis). Thank you for sharing your passion with us
@@DRT813 same! In the group they said I had a lot of Yang but well it’s expected when you don’t have fat to hide your bones lol she has one for overweight people so I think is fair for underweight too. Let’s hope. I also want her to make one video of wedding dresses for the body types! I love her videos 😍
Thank you! Before I found this channel I had no idea how to dress. I just tried a whole bunch of things, but I noticed that some things looked better on me than others. High waisted shorts, high necklines and I noticed that I looked weird in the dresses that I loved so much, sheath dresses. I guess I know now that it’s because the shape is too straight. It’s great to be able to put a name on what my body is and what suits my type.
I’m just watching this because she’s so elegant and beautiful.. and I love her accent. I just throw on what’s on the floor from the day before 🤫, and I still don’t know my body type, but put your shoulders back and learn to love and embrace your body! That’s the true secret- and inner beauty of course!
Fascinating video. I could see instantly that I am a Soft Dramatic and only after years do I now know instinctively what suits me and, dear heaven, what certainly didn't. Thank you for all your detailed research and artist's eye for micro detail.
Love your videos Aly! Can you make a video of a soft classic style icon please? I am a sc and I struggle finding my own style and making it interesting. All sc suggestions are very average and basic, and now that I see that I don't feel good wearing anything with patterns, colorful and oversize stuff. It would be very helpful to see an extraordinary approach.
I learned I'm a sc thanks to you a few years ago and I couldn't agree more. We sc can break some rules but too much is really frumpy on us. Sometimes it can be annoying but I love how we can look "chic" with little effort. I was visiting some relatives yesterday and they were like wow you look good even though I was just wearing a simple tanktop in my color season, small earrings and my hair were in a updo.
I have a special request. I'm a theatrical romantic, and it seems to me that there are not many good examples of casual looks for romantic or theatrical romantics. I really struggle to apply the kibbie principles for my shape to casual wear. Could you do a video on casual, everyday outfits for romantic and theatrical romantics? It seems like out of all the body shapes ours are the least able to throw on a pair of jeans and pair it with a simple top!
As a TR myself, I often wear this casual combo you're describing under the following conditions: the jeans are actually thin and stretchy jeggins, they accentuate the curves, nothing bulky, super high waist, super narrow at the ankles + the top is simple yet it has at least a few of those textbook TR elements such as a delicate metallic thread in the fabric, or spaghetti straps / delicate sleeves with shoulder cut-outs rather than typical t-shirt sleeves that are just way too bulky for us. How bout that? ;)
I'm a TR too and my standard jeans and t-shirt look is a pair of black skinny jeans or cropped (!) mom jeans with either heels or flat sandals, paired with a silky strappy top slightly tucked in at the front. Or thin linen fabric T-shirts work great too. With those I get some that have rolled up sleeves and aren't too wide or long. The shoulders must sit well. For summer I love wearing an A -line skirt that emphasises the waist with a blouse or shirt tucked in. I have these skirts that are of a stiffer, crisp but thin cotton with some gathering around the waist and a loosely tied belt of the same material and I love pairing that with a softer, more relaxed fabric for the top. Another summer favourite are high waist, wide leg cropped pants made from thin material with a top or shirt tucked in and a detailed / glamorous looking waist belt! I always make sure to show my ankles, collar bone and wrists. Seems just as important as showing the waist to me!
short sleeve button up (unbuttoned to create a “v neck” effect) and a pair of flared/bootcut high waist jeans (the flare helps keep balanced look) is the best!!
@@parultanwar5819 kibbe is separate from the fruit shapes system, you can be flamboyant gamine, soft natural, natural, flamboyant natural, or dramatic and have a rectangle body. I’m a soft natural and have a rectangle body.
Great topic! Love the visual examples! Small suggestion: having an "X" over a 'mismatched' outfit for body type would be helpful. Thanks for the video!
Hi Aly for me this is the very best of your videos. Thank you so much. I'm a classic and I find there are a lot of pieces and styles that don't work well for me, but sometimes I just love them like long puffer coats, while a stay away from too long or too short skirts, too intense or too soft colours.
I truly enjoy watching your body type series. I learned a lot and ever since I followed dressing up for my body type, I saw the big difference. I discovered the best version of me. ❤️❤️❤️
Ugh for so long I tried to go for that business, tailored, structured look and was so frustrated it looked like poop on me 😂 Now I instinctively started turning towards flowy, unconstructed outfits and then I found out I was a natural so it all made sense to me
Aly, I love your work and it's your experience that helped me create my own style (I'm so happy about it!), so I humbly ask you to include more black women in your content. I feel this will help many of us, it is very difficult to find any content that is for something simpler and cleaner, but yet composed. even the ones with the "classic, natural, chic" theme are heavy and forced, you know? if anyone can do this, it's you! please, I ask you to think carefully about my request. xoxo from brazil.
I'm so glad to see the beautiful January Jones used as an expample. Her styling as the classic Betty Draper suited her to a T. Her personal style is far more flamboyant, which might make her happy and satisfied, but in terms of the Kibbe theory, clashes a lot. Great video as always!
Yes!! Would love if she made a video like that. As a soft natural, I notice how my shoulders look extra strong in some simple clothes and it can be kinda annoying if that's not the vibe I'm going for. I think if you're looking for how to look feminine with wide shoulders, you should take style inspiration from Selena Quintanilla-Perez. She had strong shoulders but with a lot of her outfits, it's hard to notice. She and Michael Jackson are my favorite style inspirations. I think that's also why I love jackets and coats. They work well with my wide shoulders.
Look for reglan cut in shoulders and light soft fabrics like silk. Reglan softens shoulders, makes it smaller. Light fabrics don't emphasise shoulders. I'm talking about not summer open clothes.
@@ashleysmith2800 thanks for suggestion ♥️ İ hate when in summer İ wear strapless tops on sometnihg with thin straps and look like a water polo player hahaha. Btw İ'm dramatic type ♥️
@@totochanel2251 thank you for advice♥️ it's easier in the winter with all those coats and sweaters, but in the summer when İ try to wear tops with straps or something strapless, İ look so masculine 🥺
I hate the struggle that I have being a classic. I always see things I like try them on and Im like nope not me looked awesome on the mannican but on me nope and struggle to find things that fit me looks , colors , and figure. I dont know where to shop at dont know what section to look at . I like jewelry alot and I recently went ring shopping I love Square cut diamonds so I tired it on it seem to big and bulky and they told me to try on the tear drop style cut and who would have known it looked like it belonged to me and I was never drawn or attracted to that cut but I also had help everyone at the counter was like the square cut is just too bulky looking for you we cant explain it , it wasn't about the money the square cut that I had picked out costed more than the one they told me to try on . So Im basically saying is Im always pulled or attracted to things that are not for me I wish I could train myself to go straight to what is for me . Any classics out there I'd love to make some classic friends and see what they shop for and how they put it together !
I agree with you, I feel like most “trendy” things look weird on me as a classic, even though they look good on everyone around me. What I’ve found helpful when shopping is to try on everything I can find even if I don’t like how it looks on the hanger or the mannequin, and to be rather cynical about the things I think I’ll like. I’ve often found that what end up as my favourite pieces are things I actually didn’t like when I first saw them.
Could you make a video about those fashion looks that break the rules? It is really interesting, because it's obvious that these celebrities are not breaking the rules completely, they just somehow know where the border is
There's this meme - 'Is it fashion or is she just thin?' and I think that often fits. If you're a celebrity, possibly a model and maybe have modeled in the past and also look like a clothing hanger you can wear a lot of things with *intent* and confidence and posture and it will look convincingly like fashion. I feel like often we just assume that these people know what they're doing and therefore it must be fashion. (Not always of course, but growing up reading magazines it often seemed that way)
Thank you so much for this video. I can't tell you thanks enough! I've always been told I have a pear shape but when I dressed for it I looked horrible. Then I was told I look too masculine (tall appearing even though I'm only 5"6'!) so I needed to wear ruffles and girly flowy things to balance that out. I looked like a wild herd of ruffles had decided to overtake my body. I just disappeared inside them. Turns out I'm a Dramatic. Even with the boobs! I look amazing in angles, long lines, fabric not too stiff but not layered either. Minimalistic Boldness is what I call it lol Thanks again. You explained it so well and it all just snapped in place for me
As a SD, the "feeling ungroomed" in baggy/oversize outfit hits right to the point! In the summer, I love my baggy harem pants, but I need to pair them with a fit t-shirt. When I pull on my boyfriend's shirt on top of that, I look and feel like a homeless person.
Very informative video, thank you very much! The "recommended" examples for pure gamines featured short and semi-fitted, detailed special occasions dresses that perfectly exemplifies my dilemma. Es an older women, the short/cropped component does not feel age-appropriate anymore, so it is not clear to me what dress to wear for special occasions. Examples of longer dresses were in the "avoid" category, with which I very much agree, long vertical line does not look good (even cropped to the ankle or a bit above the ankle). Any suggestions for special occasions attire (i.e, theater, opera, ballet, weddings, anniversaries - events of that nature)... Thanks so much!
Hi Aly! I’m not sure if you stopped doing your ask Aly series, but I was curious if you could make a video on how to do your makeup for a drivers license photo I have a very crooked nose and those pictures are face on so my nose is what stands out the most. Recently I have tried contouring my nose by doing the contour color across my nose to get the focus away from my bump but I’m afraid to try that technique for the picture. Any advice you have is appreciated, and would definitely love to see how you would do yours for a photo to create symmetry!
I really appreciate your pinterest boards, they are curated with so much love! I'm from europe, so I can't order everything, but I can look for similar jewelry and clothes. Thanks so much.
I think a lot of what you were saying about Classics and colors either distracting or enhancing their look could be explained by AlexandrasGirlyTalk's video on color theory!
I’m either a gamine or a soft gamine, and find that feminine dresses and clothes that aren’t overly flamboyant suit me the most. I don’t like dressing too plain, but going over the top doesn’t suit my personality either so it’s somewhere in the middle. I know what you mean by the plastic earrings thing, some women just exude a luxurious aura.
I'd also say, simple, white sneakers would work. Sporty loafers would also be an option, if you're just looking for comfortable shoes, rather than specifically sneakers.
Hey Aly, thank you so much for your videos about the body types, they are so helpful! Found out, that I'm a SC. Since I already have a lot of colorful detailed tattoos (that I love) I wondered if there is a way to make tattoos work with every body type? Or does it change the body type? A lot of people have stuff that they like (f.e. a certain haircolor/hairstyle etc.) that just doesn't fit their type. So is there a way to incorporate such things into your style so it works with your body type? A lot of people would probably benefit from a video about that topic!
I would like to see a video on this next step, the rule breakers. I find that very exciting. I would also like to know which image you would assign yourself to. It used to be Soft Gamine, but could be Flamboyant Gamine....🧐
Hi, Aly Art. Thank you for this great video! I was wondering if you could make a video about how the Olsen twins are able to brake the rules and still look fashionable?
RE: Romantic type - I think Emilia Clarke looks pretty good in the 2 casual outfits at 7:23. I can't see anything unbalanced about it? Maybe someone can clear my eyes a bit?
The jacket looks heavy on her as if she borrowed her dad's, she's not really wearing it more like drowning in it if you get what I mean. Although you could also think it makes her look like cute But the dress does nothing for her, it has zero definition and gives Emilia a costumesque appearance
Does anyone else have this problem where their face doesn't really 'match' their body type? My body type leans towards soft natural and theatrical romantic, as it is mostly curvy and "full", but my face is primarily blunt and masculine. Balancing the two has been a real challenge.
I love your channel, Aly, but I have come to think essence is more important than body type. There were some celebrities in here as "bad examples" who I thought looked amazing because the outfit suited their essence. I think there are too many exceptions to Kibbe's rules, but I do believe in style essences such as "classic," "gamine," "ethereal," etc.
Can you please do a video explain peachy skin tone and peachy undertones? There is only about 3 or less videos here on UA-cam that focus on those undertones. I just found out I have peachy undertones with a medium golden peachy skin tone and I am trying to understand what hair colors land clothes look best with those undertones and skin tone cuz not all warm colors make my skin tone look good....please help!!!!!! 🥺💔😭. My Mac shade for reference is C4 in the studio fix fluid foundation ....it is a tini bit too light...but nothing very obvious maybe a 2-3 out of 10.
Peach is a combination of red, yellow, and white. If not all warm colors work for you, stick with the ones that do, as you still have to consider how dark, light, bold, washed-out, warm or cool, etc a color is.
Hi, try checking out merriam styles videos on undertones. She's like aly art in the sense that she has a fresh, logical and analytic approach to beauty that works, rather than the usual " oval face fits everything" advice ie. There are no neutrals, there are different types of warm/cool skin tones. She's also a kibbe youtuber
@@NoNo-sp8pi I have seen her video in undertones but she does not mention peach. Also the info that they have online is that peach undertones result from yellow undertones with pink/ red surface tones.
@@cjrg2779 I guess that's true, I'd like to hear her take on it. Maybe we could put in a request to her too then to cover it if you havent already - since her channel is not as big yet she may be more likely to see
As a romantic, I stay away from lack of waist emphasis pieces, specially dresses. I'm not short but it's very easy to look so, which is why I look past long dresses.
@@MaryK02 It's just my personal preference, I prefer them shorter or mid. I think as long as you emphasize the waist and pick designs and fabrics that work for you and the type, it's all good!
I like long dresses, but I need to break them up with details, contrasting waist emphasis etc. I think a long column of the same colour can make a R look shorter than she is.
I agree with the other comment about fabrics. I have a small budget and i want to learn more about what i should invest in. Ever since i realized that i am a soft dramatic everything made sense to me Thank you aly
As a soft gamine, I know I don't look good in one-color dresses in one line head to toe, like you said. It definitely leaves me wondering what kind of wedding dress would look good on me, since I don't want to wear a short dress. Could you please do a video with WEDDING DRESS RECOMMENDATIONS for each type?
Please give me ideas for age 58 and above thank you.. I love watching you because you always talk positive about every look.. that we are all beautiful you have given me HOPE Alie
I think, just the age is too little to go on. Much depends on your body type, coloring, lifestyle, budget etc. An often recommended idea is, to find a fashion youtuber or celebrity or even a character in a TV series you 'see' yourself in. That's usually more helpful, than just a couple of sentences of general advice.
I might be sounding super biased right now, but i love how SD women look. Tall, small head, longer neck, long legs and big bust, i really like the way these women look. I personally even find that short or slicked hair flattering. Im most probably a dramatic, and id do anything for a smaller head. I think my head is a bit too big, even my super long vertical cannot balance that.
How will I ever figure this out?! 😅 I can wear lots of patterns, bright colors, geometric shapes, huge shoulder pads or puffy sleeves or giant runway style additions. So confusing.
Hey Aly! I regularly check your pinterest boards. If you could please add more inspiration to your body type boards and express your ideas that would help alot! Thanks! 💓

I would love a video about Body types breaking the rules and looking good. I am a soft natural but i don´t identified myself with the style of soft natural celebrities. More examples with different examples would be great.
The Olsen twins are 5’1 and around 90 lbs and they look good in huge and baggy clothes. I’m 5’3 98-100 lbs and I have tried to copy their style since I’m angular like them, but I don’t like the baggy look on me
As I have heard it said, these are style types and can be the difference between you wearing a great look or it wearing you! And sorry but the Olson's seem to always be being worn by their clothes, however it is their choice. Aly I love it when you show style types wearing things against their type and whether it works because they're balancing it well or not. thanks for all your hours if great hair, make-up and style content ! ps, I'm classic ( though before the test I visually saw myself as a soft natural, not sure it worked) and wonder if age and menopause can change that? I think I was always more dramatic classic but not , with some extra weight and less toned body feel like I'm not.
Oh yes, I'm either a dramatic or soft dramatic (not sure) and I like velvet, but not sure it it fits either type.
As a DC I’ve recently cut my hair to what would have been my standard “mid-length” hair after years of trying to wear it long and wild - it suits me SO much better. I can’t wear anything that is “too” anything. Everything must be balanced!
In love long hair so much, but to be fair it does not do much for me - Classic
Same!
You should totally do wedding dresses for the body types!
@@IfYouMeetAWolf Oh I like that 🤩
Marvelous video as always! What really bothers me is the huge amount of people who are supposed to do their job and still dress their clients with the worst of the worst. It almost seems as if they were doing it on purpose.
As a FG I immediately looked better after cutting my long hair short!!! My long hair was dragging my face down making me look older and more gaunt.
❤️
There is nothing wrong looking older please let’s not age shame. Getting older is natural and should not be something ugly or bad

I kinda hate typical beach/summer clothing as well, it’s a struggle, because all they sell is boho ala natural lines
Wear monochrome. White is gorgeous in Summer. Try to tie your hair in a quick bun.
As someone in the romantic family, wide, long, no waist emphases, big platform shoes, unconstructed hair, heavy/dark makeup, heavy fabric, big/sharp shoulders, no details, and geometric patterns are not my best friend. Please feel free to add more!!
Big, bulky heavy looking accessories and jewelry. And I think low rise jeans and most lose fitting jeans/pants are also pretty bad for us romantics.
Also stiff fabrics.
I’ve never identified with being fashionable or caring too much but this is so understandable to me. It’s like confirming things I’ve always picked up on
As a SD I had various "phases", when I dressed like a gamine I looked very heavy, when I dressed like a classic I looked plain and forgettable
I agree! It's so true
Dolly-boyish ftw! 😍
As a theatrical romantic (and I guess this would go for all romantics) waist emphasis is EVERYTHING! usually we have full chest and wide hips, so without our waist emphasis we just look like boxes 😅😅 but that can be a statement in itself and it is good to make informed decisions ❤️
Also, does anyone have a fashion suggestion for those days we are bloated and the waist emphasis unfortunately emphasises also the belly?
@@formaldehyde3864 thank you so much! ❤️❤️
Thank you for sharing your passion with us
Can you please make a video about body types underweight or skinny? You made one about overweight people but what about us that are thin? Thank you!
i would really appreciate this as well! it is so difficult for me to tell what type i am being very underweight
I'd love that. I'm currently underweight and don't know if I'm a dramatic or soft dramatic, because I can't really estimate how "fleshy" I am.
Thank you for this! Could you do a video all about how to “break the rules” of our Kibbe type while still looking put together?
Done! Releasing soon - 1 or 2 weeks
@@linibellini 1000x yes!!
Watch Merriam Style, she did a video about that 2 years ago.
short sleeve button up (unbuttoned to create a “v neck” effect) and a pair of flared/bootcut high waist jeans (the flare helps keep balanced look) is the best!!

Hi Aly for me this is the very best of your videos. Thank you so much. I'm a classic and I find there are a lot of pieces and styles that don't work well for me, but sometimes I just love them like long puffer coats, while a stay away from too long or too short skirts, too intense or too soft colours.

Hi Aly- great video as always! Could you please do a video on photo poses for the body types or perfume for the body types? Thanks!
I feel this will help many of us, it is very difficult to find any content that is for something simpler and cleaner, but yet composed. even the ones with the "classic, natural, chic" theme are heavy and forced, you know? if anyone can do this, it's you! please, I ask you to think carefully about my request. xoxo from brazil.

rIGHT?? :) I'm so with you on this
I'm so glad to see the beautiful January Jones used as an expample. Her styling as the classic Betty Draper suited her to a T. Her personal style is far more flamboyant, which might make her happy and satisfied, but in terms of the Kibbe theory, clashes a lot. Great video as always!
Thanks!
One of your best!! Clear and easy to follow with different types.
Tack!
You give such good examples for all these types. Thank you!
Can you make a video for girls with wide shoulders? What type of clothes should we wear to look more feminine? ♥️
The Kibbe body typing system doesn"t work like that. Need to read more on the topic

Minimalistic Boldness is what I call it lol
Thanks again.

Hi i would love to see a video about different hats for the body types and/or face shapes
Oversized/no waist emphasis and geometrics seem to be everywhere though

Hello could someone recommend sneaker types for soft classics? It‘s so hard to find the perfect sneaker

I'd also say, simple, white sneakers would work. Sporty loafers would also be an option, if you're just looking for comfortable shoes, rather than specifically sneakers.
I use vans "authentic style". I have all the colors. I'm still not sure if I'm a SC though.

Although you could also think it makes her look like cute
But the dress does nothing for her, it has zero definition and gives Emilia a costumesque appearance
She's beautifull, so in her case it's not that she looks bad, it's just that she is kinda wasting her potential and not looking as good as she could.
Soft Classic: Everything.
I understand, classic type family can be easily overwhelmed 😮💨

I love it how she keeps it REAL...🔥
Great video as usually 💖.

Should we avoid long dresses? I love maxi dresses
@@MaryK02 It's just my personal preference, I prefer them shorter or mid. I think as long as you emphasize the waist and pick designs and fabrics that work for you and the type, it's all good!

Thanks! 💓
Maybe I'm soft ,classical and natural trying to pass as something more lean and cutting edge lol .Mostly I just don't get it and cant really tell subtle differences ..
Please can you tell me if SD can wear FN looks/outfits??
Maybe add some waist emphasis. Both would look good in long lines
In general you can borrow from similar body types with similar undercurrents. I'm Romantic, so I can borrow some things from TR, SN, SC, SG.

I would love a video about Body types breaking the rules and looking good. I am a soft natural but i don´t identified myself with the style of soft natural celebrities. More examples with different examples would be great.
Sometimes I buy clothes that I know are not for my type, but I am trying to cover up my belly or legs, at least I choose the right colour
The Olsen twins are 5’1 and around 90 lbs and they look good in huge and baggy clothes. I’m 5’3 98-100 lbs and I have tried to copy their style since I’m angular like them, but I don’t like the baggy look on me
If im confused about the body type would you recommend I just go with Classic lines?
thank you for your help!
This is awesome!
Though for 2 years of Covid I have hardly shopped or even dressed up very much. ) ty. xxoo
