I'm sorry, but those are not body types. Body types are about different body shapes (short, tall, heavy, skinny, etc.) -- and that's what I thought the video was going to discuss: the best long hair styles for different body shapes. So the title of the video should be "Long Hair for Different Styles", not body types.
I had such pretty long hair (I’m a FG) and everyone always complimented my long hair but after I cut it I started receiving compliments about ME! Lifechanging decision ❤
I’m FG and I used to look fine/good with long hair but that’s bc I was young and my face was full and cute so it could handle an unsuitable hairstyle. Now I’m older and more gaunt and my long hair looked horrible on me. As soon I cut it short (simple chop chin level with side part no bangs) I looked infinitely better and a little younger! Long hair was totally dragging my face down so bad.
I feel like there should be a whole separate video about ponytails, which didn't get mentioned here but are all of the following: sporty, preppy, girly, elegant....
I’m a Natural or perhaps Soft Natural. Sleek hair for me just looks too contrived, too tidy. Several years ago I stopped coloring, and am growing it out. I had no idea A)It was this dark (my grays are WHITE not gray) and B)I colored and bleached for YEARS. I had no idea it was this curly. Basically, I just wash it every 3rd day, and let it air dry as much as possible. I’m growing THE MANE!
I'm a gamine and went from bra strap length (relaxed) hair to a pixie...loveddddd it. I don't know why I took so long to do it. I got lots of compliments on my long hair but i always felt i looked a bit childish and usually kept it in updos anyway because i felt i looked more mature that way. And yes, the longer hair did drag me down, which i only realised after I cut it and realised how much brighter my face looked. My hair length will never cross my shoulders again 😅
I'm a soft gamine but I feel the opposite. I have a lot of curly/wavy hair and when I cut it short it just looks wrong and styling it bocomes a nightmare. I can't say if I look old or young,I just look...boring? Like I loose character. What works for me is curly, slightly messy long hair with curls starting at the top of my head with lots of layers, especially short ones. It just looks impeccable
I’m FG, I had very long hair, past my bellybutton and I loved having a long hair but always wanted to try short. It took 2 years of slowly cutting shorter and it’s a top of my shoulders now. I love how classy it make me look. I’m planning to grow my hair long again but this time I’ll definitely use layers. Thanks for the tips.
I love it that you talk about fine/thin hair. I have very fine hair and lost weight, but also some hair. I was able to find someone wonderful who could do extensions on me, which I loved. But during lockdown they couldn't be changed out and dreaded so I had to get a pixie that I hated but other people liked on me. Now I'm growing out my natural hair. I think I'm a soft natural.
Soft Classic, my hair is now chest length and thick, after giving it time, love and discipline. Fine, whispy hair can become healthy but not without serious effort. If it gets too tussled though, the "Are you ok?" Or "Are you ill dear?""s aren't far behind. My advice: if you plan to wear your hair down, braid it lightly when travelling and pull ot out on arrival. Keeps it neat. 🎉
I’m a dramatic classic and I’ve always been told that I look better with long hair, now that you have agreed as the expert I know it’s true! I was never too sure🤔 Great video, wonderful tips for us all🙌
I’m a FN and I envy lions mane hair! I have dense hair but the strands are fine so it gets weighed down easily. I use volumizing products and extensions to give that boost. My favorite look is the long layered, blow out, like Julia Roberts in the 90s. ❤
Cannot agree more - I have the same situation - my fine hair loses all volume when it gets longer. Also, I live in a very wet and cold climate, all attempts at styling become useless once I leave home.
I'm the opposite 😅 I have voluminous hair went my life hating it until I understood that I have a 2a hair with a lot of it. Now this haircut it's the easiest to carry for bc of the natural texture. Every time I got shorter pixie or something like that it's up like wires 😂
I’m a F. Gamine. I spent most of my life trying to have long pretty hair. My hair has changed so much and I have needed to adjust. As a teen until my mid 20s my hair was all natural lion mane curls and it looked awesome but it had to be just past my shoulders, no longer. My 30s I mostly had very long thick extension hair as my hair started to thin and I was self conscious. I did find at times it dragged me down and definitely had that doll effect. I would keep it up a lot. I’m in my early 40s now. My hair is kept cut in a long pixie and I’ve even went full on pixie a couple of times. I can see what you mean by brightening your face. This cut looks the best on me. Sometimes I bring in my natural curls in the long pixie and it looks the best on me, even better than straight. Great video thank-you!
I think you would look great in the Goldie Hawn on Laugh in type of hairstyle. Or a 70s type shag. I think that would would be so flattering on you, go better with your body type, and also suit the hair kind of hair you have in the best way.
I always tend to look for FG recommendations 😂 and I actually have the rounder sort of face, the lioness hair with solid color (higher contrast) is the best on me to this day! Another win empirically! 🏆
Hi! Thanks a ton for your videos. Can you please do one about homewear, any home clothes, or pajamas? I understand that technically, it's possible to wear anything comfortable enough, but it's really hard to find something both fitting and cozy :(
I would be interested in a video about festive and glamorous outfits. For me as a pure Natural it is very difficult not to choose too stiff, too polished or too delicate. What can I wear, if I e.g. go to the theatre to look chic but in my vibe? Thank you for your ideas.
I really relate to the TR /Romantic , when my greys grow in or my colour gets a bit washed out or hair colours that aren't a clear colour it looks really awful on me because of the multiple shades going on, it just looks mucky and messy or just looks off. My hair needs to be either straight and glossy or curly like blow dry curls or those glam waves . My hair can look messy with fly a ways , frizz or fluffiness . I look great in a slick back bun with middle or side parting and in up-dos with shorter hairs around the face as well but not just shoved up. I only look good with either long hair or a lob cut
Very nice and helpful! I always found I liked my hair long (romantic) and more “little Bo peep” curls rather than the messy, brushed out waves that I saw worked on so many other girls. I know Monroe has a brushed out wet set, but I haven’t figured out how yet 😂
I guess I figured out my type correctly from another one of your videos because I almost always wear my hair long, even now into my late 60s. You said "the Dramatic Classic looks amazing in long hair, not so good in short hair." Boy, truer words were never spoken!! I'd love to rock your haircut but I would look just terrible, whereas you are totally cute and beautiful in it. I love when you wear it wavy, too. You are gorgeous and so sweet! Thanks for the fun videos.
Aly this is like a Christmas gift and I have been needing this so bad. I have long hair and don’t know what to do with it and don’t want to cut it short yet and there hasn’t been a lot of wiggle room given to SGs with longer styles. Hope you and yours have a happy holiday
I think I just typed myself based on this video as a flamboyant natural (with other additional research too). When I was blonde I was always rocking the long, tousled, ie Blake Lively, hair. It looked great. Now that I am copper I have less layers, but it is still long. My best look is loose waves. I always LOATHED straight hair on me and you gave some great examples why. It just emphasizes bluntness.
Thank you for this video. I was just considering cutting my long hair but now I’ve changed my mind. SD here. Would be interested on ideas for dealing with graying/white hair on the different types. I’m a natural redhead and my color is fading away as I age. How can I balance this and not look washed out?
Aly, I’ve watched you since you began YT but hardly comment because your vlogs are so thorough! Aly could you please do a blog for hair style and makeup for women with double chin younger and older, please? I think I do a good job for my face, hair, makeup, body type and clothes, but I can always learn more and you are so great at this. Thanks! 🤍
Dramatic here. I don't like long hair for myself because my neck looks very elongated when it's surrounded by hair. I always had to go for a ponytail but now I'm happy with my pixie. The contrast between my dark hair and neck is gone.
Aly! Thank you so much for this. I would love to know which hair accessories you would recommend for the body types. Especially, ones that create volume at the crown for those of us who need it.
Super interesting and much needed video! I love to learn about what suits every body type. I can see how everyone can be beautiful looking like themselves. It's awesome!
Thank you, very helpful video just in perfect time. Next thursday I have date with my hairdresser. I'm soft gamine and wear very long hair. I need a healthy cut that fits with my true esence. Waiting for your next video about hair color 😀
❤ May I request updo's for the body types. I am especially interested in the body type for "Gibson girl" hair and big high buns at the front of the head. Thank you 😘
Hi, thanks for these new hairtypes for Kibbe videos. I really like to do braided hairstyles for my friends and myself and I am really curious about what type of braided hairstyles do you recommend for each bodytypes.
This was so helpful! I wear wigs and extensions (now growing it out, my ends were horrible back then and I didn’t upkeep with my trims!) I prefer long hair on me so this was the video for me! Can’t wait for hair color!!! I love a good blunt cut but my hair way is wayyy too thick and look a bit much
I needed this video!! I have hair loss for a few different medical reasons and am getting ready to buy a new wig. I love having long hair but never know what length to buy!
I’m flamboyant natural but I’m also asian so my hair is just naturally very straight and sleek. It’s such a struggle!!! I’ve just decided to give up on long hair and have now kept chin to shoulder length hair with lots of layers and curtain bangs to offset my broad shoulders.
I'm a soft dramatic and have thick mid back long hair and I agree with keeping a blunt haircut! Even before I knew I was a soft dramatic I knew that somehow blunt looks better! Also I trim my hair every 3 month.
I love your videos! Only thing I’d like to add, is that you should never comb dry curly hair, you will get the frizz of a lifetime! Curly hair needs to be styled wet.
I'm soft dramatic and this explains why I always have long straight hair with middle parting 😂 And what you said about tousled hair... hits right into my soul 😅
So this is a topic were you must know if you are a theatrical romantic or a soft garmine, as there different rules apply. I'm still confused what I 'am. *Thank you so much for your helpful and interesting work* 😘
My sister also has this problem, and she figured that she can kind of wear both lines. Her face is more on the soft gamine side though, so she favours those lines. She's gorgeous in both, so you should probably be okay as well 😊
Soft dramatic here and I naturally have very long, wavy hair. This hair type tends to look quite frizzy as it is less uniform than very curly or coily hair, but I don't like styling my natural hair in my day to day life. It might look a little messy for my body type, but considering that many recommendations working for SNs can be a more casual look for SDs, I think my hair fits me great.
The right cut and products for air drying would fix up the messy frizziness. My fave combo to use on wavy hair in salon~ A moisturizing shampoo, conditioner for curly hair(works for waves just as well). On damp but not wet hair, a leave in conditioner. Spray in for finer hair, a cream for coarse. Argon oil for the ends. Than an anti frizz curl cream to seal in all that goodness. Let it air dry and just don’t touch it until it’s dry! Reapply the argon oil when needed to tame down any frizziness until the next wash day.
I love your videos 🤩 I am a dramatic classic and soft summer and I find that combination so tricky. Re. Hair. I'm level 6. Do you think with that combination it's best to stay natural color, highlights or flat color? I loved platinum on me when young but find it ageing now
@AlyArt Aly i would really love some tips for SN's to look more elongated, more slim and less bulky, even on my regular wheight i feel like fitted and more oversized clothes make me look big, and only extra feminine flowy outfits make me look fit, and I'm not that into girly or rustic looking fits 🤷♀️
I’m soft gamine, and I look best with long hair, and I can’t part with my long hair. I do faux bangs alot of the time. Recently, I cut my hair into shorter layers, but it’s still really long in the back. I have been braiding the back, and curling the short layers into beachy wave curls, and wearing a beret, and it absolutely works for me. I have to be careful with short hair, though, because I have such a wide jawline. I look really good when my hair is in a high ponytail, but not when it’s down. The journey of finding what works is never ending. I love your videos ❤
I like dramatic classic. I don’t know what type I am, but I have thick long hair and like to wear it wavy/curled .. I do not look good with short hair, as I have an hourglass figure with a small head, oval/delicate face, small nose.. I’m also 5’6. I may be a romantic.
It might be fun to do a few retro Kibbe image analyses of, say, the actresses in the old Charlie's Angels TV series. Of Cheryl Ladd, who was five foot three; Jaclyn Smith, who was five foot seven; Kate Jackson, who was five foot nine; Farrah Fawcett, who was five foot six; Shelley Hack, who was five foot eight (I heard her mention it once); & Tanya Roberts, who was five feet eight.
If you are GAMINE and don't want to cut your hair into a pixie, try a hime cut or a fairy mullet/shag. The hime cut has the structure and geometry element and the fairy mullet pulls the visual volume up so it doesn't drag you down. I am a SG and have waist length hair and those are 2 hair cuts that I feel don't drag me down.
Curly SD here, and I appreciate hearing that long, luscious waves and curls are the way to go. Thank you! My one note: Any recs for updos that are handy for difficult hair days would be much appreciated.
I'm the same! I find the half up-do with a big hair claw, that adds volume on top and leaves some hair on the bottom, works for me, since I have thick hair and my bottom hair is sleeker - perhaps it could work for you too..
@@SaraMuzi I'll be sure to give it a go! I've been growing my hair out (currently wearing an asymmetrical mid-neck bob), and as my hair gets longer I have no doubt I will want it to stay out of my way. I've also been eyeing different styles of buns and braids, so will experiment as I go. (I already know a French twist looks good, so will keep that in my mental library.)
As a gamine, I always get compliments when I give my hair volume and make it a mess- i basically just put my naturally straight, somewhat thin hair in a bun, and sleep on it. However, since I've started covering my hair after marriage, I love wrapping it up in an up do, and leaving my neck open, much more! Also, I've tried bangs in every which way, and it's pretty much a no-no for me!
@sobean9309 I think because outward curls have have more of a tousled vibe (better for natural types) , whereas inward curls give more of a neat controlled glamorous vibe which is better for soft dramatic
I'm a soft gamine, I agree when my hair is very long I look childish. I think I look best when my hair is a little past my shoulders. My hair is straight and thick.
My hair is thin but I have very broad shoulders in comparison to my hips and also have put on a lot of weight on my torso so I don't feel like having short hair rn
I always wondered why long hair did not look good on me. I’ve mainly kept it shortened but looks good when up. I am some kind of gamine, btw. Also, long or monochromatic outfits look terrible on me.
I am so gamine I should have my picture next to the word in the dictionary. 😃 I have always had fine, not thick hair...but I've experienced hair loss, so my fine hair is now very upsettingly thin. A month ago I cut it back into a mid-neck length bob and it looks so much better. Longer hair that is so thin you can see through it is not attractive on anyone. I have had my hair in pixies a few times and people love me with very short hair, but it's not versatile. I find bobs to be the best option.

Same! In FG and even my ex husband (who loves long hair for women) told me that his favorite hair cut was short with side part and no bangs.
That’s awesome !! How short did you cut it? Do you mean a pixie? Or a mid-neck length short and layered bob?
I feel like there should be a whole separate video about ponytails, which didn't get mentioned here but are all of the following: sporty, preppy, girly, elegant....
❤ this video! As a soft classic I found that getting rid of bangs and adding face framing pieces with a blunt cut is best for me - just as you said.
I think I'm soft natural and this completely explains why I always prefer my hair slightly 'messy' than sleek!
I am soft natural, too. And messy works for me. Too sleek, too thin, just doesn't.
I love messy hair on me. Too sleek styles make me look sick or something 😂
I've always been envious of women who have the effortless chic look!

“It looks like she was in the horse stable with the man she loves but no one should know about it” 🤣 (untidy hair for soft dramatic)
I’m a soft dramatic and my mom implies that I look a similar way when my hair is all messy 😭
I'm a gamine and went from bra strap length (relaxed) hair to a pixie...loveddddd it. I don't know why I took so long to do it. My hair is 26” and I’m a Romantic body type. I wear it up a lot though because it gets in the way; this video makes me want to wear it down more.
Exactly what makes a body type romantic? Romantic is a style, not a body type.
@@evawebster1518 you must be new to kibbe

Just look at Jennifer Aniston she was a pure Natural then you're set!
i had long hair and it wasn’t only pretty,it was an accomplishment. unfortunately, the ends got damaged and didn’t survive.
Had someone cut mine in my sleep

I’d love to see a video on New Year’s Eve outfits for the Kibbe Body ID’s 🫶🏼🫶🏼💕💕 Love your videos, thank you!! 😘😘😘😘
I'm soft dramatic and this explains why I always have long straight hair with middle parting 😂
And what you said about tousled hair... hits right into my soul 😅
She's gorgeous in both, so you should probably be okay as well 😊
@@ingrid9635 😘Thank you for your help!
My fave combo to use on wavy hair in salon~
A moisturizing shampoo, conditioner for curly hair(works for waves just as well).
Team SD 🔥
I love your videos 🤩 I am a dramatic classic and soft summer and I find that combination so tricky. Re. Hair. I'm level 6. Do you think with that combination it's best to stay natural color, highlights or flat color? I loved platinum on me when young but find it ageing now
I'm that combination too!
Thanks Aly❤
If you are GAMINE and don't want to cut your hair into a pixie, try a hime cut or a fairy mullet/shag. The hime cut has the structure and geometry element and the fairy mullet pulls the visual volume up so it doesn't drag you down.
I am a SG and have waist length hair and those are 2 hair cuts that I feel don't drag me down.
I’m a soft gamine and i have long, thick and wavy hair. I love them and they give me mermaid vibe
I´d like to know more about the colors and cuts with this same examples!
I'm not self-aware enough to know what my body type is. How do I find that out?
la donna che ha i capelli lunghi è una gloria per lei❤
Love your content!!❤
Long hair drags me down as a soft gamine but i love long hair 😒
Same I don’t know what to do with mine now 🥺
I am pure gamine and I feel the same :/
A horse stable with the man she loves and no one should know about it ... hahahahahahah best line EVER
Good info! Thank you! 👍
Can you make a video on bangs?
Thank you for keeping the pure types!
I'm absolutely still a pure N 😂 we definitely didn't just disappear lol
Thank you for the video! ❤
Thank you love it!
But Aly you don't comb a curly hair...it'd just make them super frizzy 😂😂😂😂❤
Apart from that, great video as always!
I think she’s saying comb it as in style it. A bit nuanced
Thx alot❤❤
But what is ( elfish faces)
I found it very interesting to hear that inward curls look better on SD. Any ideas why?
@sobean9309 I think because outward curls have have more of a tousled vibe (better for natural types) , whereas inward curls give more of a neat controlled glamorous vibe which is better for soft dramatic
The number of times Aly has called my type “puffy” and “meaty” 😂😂😂 I mean she’s not wrong 😅🤷♀️💁♀️
I'm a soft gamine, I agree when my hair is very long I look childish. I think I look best when my hair is a little past my shoulders. My hair is straight and thick.
Please consider doing a video on seniors and looking classy and casual.
Who is the black lady at 2:27 she is gorgeous ❤
@samsharp1263 Diahann Caroll
My hair is thin but I have very broad shoulders in comparison to my hips and also have put on a lot of weight on my torso so I don't feel like having short hair rn
Did I miss the part for Romantics?
Do you do 1 to 1 consults ?
Send her an email! I think she has done them in the past
@@CyrillicSanga what’s her email or where to find it
I always wondered why long hair did not look good on me.
But what if you are a classic with curly / wavy hair
Aly, you mentioned your hair doesn't seem to grow past your shoulders. Have you ever thought about not bleaching it?
I’m a soft classic and bangs tend to not look great on me. I also prefer my hair in an updo. I’m not sure why.
I‘m 5‘9 but often get told people perceive me as being taller. Does that relate to a certain kibbe type?
Any input would be appreciated 🫶🏻
Dramatic, Soft Dramatic, or Flamboyant Natural--all three are tall/perceived as even taller than they are.
Thanks! @@AngryTheatreMaker
@@lis9024 Of course.
im a soft natural with multi-layered hair and wispy but only on one side bangs.... oop!
Thank you:-)
Love the videos on her but tbh in this one I just learned that
I look untidy when my hair is untidy 😅
Horse stable with the man she loves 😅😅😅
Hate my hair very thin and thinning on top!
