Please do the opposite and casual looks. I can’t believe how on point this system is. This might explain why not everyone can feel comfortable in “no makeup makeup “, like me - I try but feel invisible and tired.
Alexandra Anele explains makeup almost as meticulously as Aly explains clothing. Her channel has helped me a lot. Check her "dude" series. She does a whole video for, say, eyeliner and she explains what happens to your face when you apply it different ways.
@@di3486 I love it on the weekends or going to a mall when people are all dressed up - I’m not there to impress anyone and I couldn’t care less if I look casually slobbish - sweats, ball cap , t-shirt - sure the staff might not want to help me because they think I’m not willing or able to buy something, but they’re wrong. I also think dressing fancy in crowded places makes you a target for theft - in my opinion. I do prefer to look like wallpaper in the mall (I hate crowds and waiting in line for stuff and would rather buy everything online).
A reminder that your essence (kitchener) is far more indicative of what you should wear than your body type is. I have followed soft natural advice ever since i started my kibbe journey, only to look sloppy. Recently i found out that my essence was classic and romantic and that i looked best if i followed the theatrical romantic recommendations. I have never felt better and been complimented as much. Game changer.
Even more than Kibbe system itself, I love the way Aly interpretes it😀😊 I've seen many interpretations of it, and often felt more limited in my choices rather than confident in myself; however Aly I feel has a good eye for all things beauty and harmony, and she just GETS it. And knows how to actually play with the lines in practice and use the lines to better express individuality and natural beauty, rather than the other way around. I just love this approach. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and understanding, Aly🥰
As a DC I find dressing outside of my work clothes (always easy as we seem to be made for 'office appropriate' dressing 😄) really difficult.I tend to just wear more 'dressy' versions of my work clothes, and I never feel particularly glamorous. When I was slimmer it was a lot easier, but now I'm a bit bigger and more pear-shaped it's got more difficult ....really looking forward to the more in-depth videos 😍
Yeah, and she gives great advice... 💛 The tip to just add one or two aspects of one's own body type to an outfit to make it work is so valuable! 👌🏻 It gives us the freedom to choose a style that truly represents us individually, it's just awesome... :)
I am a gamine, either pure or soft, and I find that K-pop music videos (specifically blackpink) gives me great glam/party outfit inspiration. It’s very overdone in the videos, but just the vibe and certain elements are very easy for me to incorporate.
I never thought about that, but yeah kpop is often great inspiration for gamines. This might explain why my friend, who I think is probably a gamine, always looked better in many of the kpop looks when we were younger (we've been fans since 2009). I'm pretty sure I'm a soft natural and many of the kpop looks would look a little (or very) off on me. The edgy or colorful school girl outfits are a very good example where the differences show (like what blackpink wears in as if it's your last or f(x) rumpumpum).
I really need a "hair tutorial for the body types" because as a romantic I really don't know how to style my hair in a "romantic way" without looking vintage, if you know what I mean. Also, I have a lot of very thic hair so, I can't see myself in one of those wavy soft hairstyles without looking like a electrocuted poodle or something🤣
Matilda Djerf (I think that's how it's written, sorry xD) has a very easy soft wavy everyday hairstyle that looks effortless and it's great for us romantics
When your styling with curl attempts don't look as beautiful as you would like them to, turn to the Regency era or the Classical era for inspiration to fix the poodle look.. Those rounded up dos really bring out our feminity in an elegant way. Just make sure to use use to help smooth and style your curls
Hello! I hope this message gets to you Aly, I just wanted to say I am so grateful for your channel and your videos!!!! Always so thoughtful and well researched. It’s SO validating and fun to learn from Kibbe you. Keep up the amazing work!!! ❤
This is so helpful 😭💕 Please, could you do a video on wedding dresses for the body types? I'm a SD and while I'd love a princess ballgown dress, I'm curious to see what wedding dress types would suit this particular body type 🙏🥺
So happy to finally see dramatic featuring Elizabeth. I’m also tall and in fact number of people said ED and I could be sisters (i’m also polish, must be shared genes:D) It’s been over a decade now that I discovered ling vertical lines are my geometry to go to.
I'm finally in a place where I can choose want I want to wear and you've been so great at helping me find my style🥰🥰 You're saving me so much time and money, since now I can say WHY certain clothes look good on me
Every time I see CHOCHENG clothes I think it’s an “ironic gamine glam” and absolutely love the vibe! Aly, thank you for continuing talking about body types!
"One or two things can slightly be undone …" (FN) - Yessss! That’s the key. I noticed that years ago, long before I knew about Kibbe: I need at least ONE thing that "rocks" the outfit. If everything is very "done" I don't look chic but like an oldfashioned aunt - and I feel absolutely uncomfortable.
I think I’m a FN and I have really started to do this with my hair. If I wear something more strict I have my hair out (it is straight, but can look a little bit long and messy) and if I wear something more casual I wear it in a low bun. I think I can easily look wither too strict masculine or like I’m trying to look too ”boho”
Natural = elves, gemstones, leather, quality, form over function. Lived in and worn in its own way. Maybe a scarf as a skirt. Romantic = princesses, ruffles softness, bows. More details to explore. I would like to see separate videos for each type. I'm a SN and it wasn't clear other than slightly tousled and blended makeup. In what ways do you combine the 50s and the 70s for inspiration?
I would love to see an edit of all these principals put into a single video of one type at a time. Take your existing footage of each item (makeup, jewelry, dresses, skirts, etc. for the body types) and compile them together by type. Or even the 3 variants at once, like soft classic, classic, and dramatic classic together. I love these videos, but would rather focus on learning just mine first, and not accidentally remembering the wrong details or trying to remember every thing for every type.
Always so great, Aly! So informative, inspiring, calming, lovely! Whenever you upload, I am very happy! 🥰 Hope you are doing good, as much as possible 😘
I'm always really confused as to what to do with my makeup as I am a soft summer and have a lot of grey in every color of mine BUT I am also a Soft Dramatic with all these bold colors and shapes recommended to me. Big dark liner makes me look cheap and I can only do concealer & brows - everything else looks out of place. There's zero to none advice on the internet on how to deal with this, if some of you reading this comment knows any - please share, I'm really lost. Love the video~
there was one video where she said all-neutral can work for SD like an all-beige outfit, maybe neutral shimmer eyeshadow. I'm SD and I love this look but it washes me out. Maybe it would work for you?
I would look into cool toned natural eye shadow palettes with colors like taupe, darker grey brown, mauve etc If you want to line your eyes you can use a dark grey or brown pencil and smundge it aganst your lashline. It creates a bit drama without being as graphic as liquid or black eyeliner. On lips different shades of pink can look good, not too cool but not warm either since it can wash you out if tou’re a summer. Maybe even a cooler tone red if you make a softer eye. I am also a summer but not soft so maybe I can go a bit harder on the contrast 😊
I love your insight and your videos have been very helpful on learning how to dress myself. If I may, can I request a video on how to dress the body types on edgy/e-girl or other alternative styles? I find there's lot of resources for dressing elegantly but there're not many professionals covering ways of applying the rules of fashion to alternative styles. Would be very much interested in seeing vids like that :) also a video on which fantasy colors would look good on you (hair) would be so helpful. Thank you and I hope you continue your great work 💖💖💖
My style icon is the always glamorous actress and philanthropist, Dina Merrill. She was born to a very wealthy family and remained until her death one of the few female billionaires. But despite her wealth, or maybe because of it, she had a classic style that looked as great in a pair of shorts playing tennis as in the most elegant gown and diamonds. But always the classic.
Yes I think I am soft Gemini, and I really not look good in more feminine clothes , not look modern in long hair . I look good in showing my shoulders , like jackets, printed coats. Look good in structure clothes instead of flowy fabric .
Look for vertical silhouettes and Grecian style draping, as in Madame Grés or some of Claire McCardell's less structured designs. It should do the trick.
Ally I wish you could do this as a service. We could send you pictures and you could tell us the type and then link your videos. People -myself included- would pay for that!!!
AAAA Aly, this is just the video I need! When I try to do my "glam" I'm not sure about anything, so I end using classic stuff that makes me look pretty boring and "meh". (Not sure of my body type yet, but I'm something near to a FN, the yang is strong in me 💃)
Very interesting video as usually! I still keep feeling confused about my own type though 😅 Soft Dramatic and Romantic are the only ones I am certain I’m not. I sometimes think dramatic because I am very angular around the shoulders and face and have a narrow thorax but then my hips are wide and fleshy so probably not dramatic either. In N lines i usually look overwhelmed and lost, classic lines work but often look a bit plain on me. Like i was going to the office. And with gamines I fit in pretty well but I’m 5’4” and have small hands and feet and a small and narrow head so I tend to look taller than I am. Which points more towards FG. Also slightly crazy and undone hair looks good if it’s shorter or out of the face. But usually look better with waist emphasis. Those straight 20s and 60s dresses often make me look wide because of my wide hips… And I dislike too short dresses on me cause my legs have wide bones compared to my arms and upper body. Which makes me think more of soft natural… I’ll just be forever confused about this!
I’m short waisted, petite (5’4”), and 145 (a little bit short, short waisted, barrel body) I’m lost fashion wise. And a weak chin/jowls big nose small lips. Lost!
as a flamboyant gamine myself I have to say it's really hard at times to not tie my hair in a high ponytail with every single outfit. Makes me feel too much like Lara Croft lol
Love this! It feels great to know that my love for Art Deco as well as looks inspired by the 1930s and 1940s has some backing in my image ID (Dramatic). Thank you so much for this video!
I wonder how you'd pair theatrical romantic with soft autumn for glam because it doesn't look right on me. I can do a more feminine, cozy softness, maybe ethereal type of look but the vamp stereotype is out of place and I can't do black eyeliner. 🤔 Soft make up, fitted outfits, lots of lace or cashmere and gathers with delicate ornate jewelry? The glossiness and darker colors are the biggest issue. The softer seasons don't have much advice it seems.
Based on the Kibbe test, my answers are mostly Bs under Bone Structure, Es under Body Flesh and D/C equally under Facial Features. What's my body type 😭 For what it's worth i am just 5 feet tall but don't really look petite. Most people think i am a bit taller than i actually am. I have some curves and my flesh is quite soft but i feel like i have blunt bones, if that makes any sense 😶
@@jasmeen5712 so i re-did the test with pics and realized i get mostly Cs, but with some Ds and Es in facial features and body flesh. I think that makes me a Soft Classic. Which kind of makes sense because i do have a definite yin undercurrent with some curves and softness, but am not overtly sexy/ sensual looking, haha. Clean lines and minimal details look good and dressing too sexy looks a bit off (but not tooo off). Natural lines (shapeless clothing, lack of waist definition etc) look terrible. Dramatic lines overwhelm me.
If you are a gamine and want to look older and put together we should combine the formal with a bit of childish ? I understood that the whole sleek look can actually make us look more childish so what is the opposite of childish to make us look more mature ?

I can do a more feminine, cozy softness, maybe ethereal type of look but the vamp stereotype is out of place and I can't do black eyeliner. 🤔 Soft make up, fitted outfits, lots of lace or cashmere and gathers with delicate ornate jewelry? The glossiness and darker colors are the biggest issue. The softer seasons don't have much advice it seems.
Try looking up Ann-Margret who starred in Elvis films. She's TR with reddish golden hair.
Thanks for the suggestion!
I'd say 1930s and 1970s for FN! (Except for the 1930s hair)
Glam looks for the oversized body types?
Based on the Kibbe test, my answers are mostly Bs under Bone Structure, Es under Body Flesh and D/C equally under Facial Features. What's my body type 😭
For what it's worth i am just 5 feet tall but don't really look petite. Most people think i am a bit taller than i actually am. I have some curves and my flesh is quite soft but i feel like i have blunt bones, if that makes any sense 😶
Soft Natural
I'm a soft gamine with low contrast in my coloring. Not sure how to incorporate these high-contrast looks. Would love help with that!
Go with your contrast in clothes not your body type.
What can I do if I’m a soft gamine but I don’t typically like that style or patterns 😕
What body type does Judy Garland fall under?
I read that's she was a SG
I’m a natural and cannot go to girly and go better with masculine androgynous looks
