Exactly the soup my mum cooked the first time my husband and his relatives came knocking😄😄😄. But she used úkàshi instead of bitterleaf(our native way) with akpù .Till today my husband and his brothers still talk about that soup and how his brothers forgot their mission and demanded for more even take away😄😄😄😄(because they were suppose to form and not finish the whole food).😀😀😀😀😀😀😀 You're right ma,this soup is everything 👌👌👌👌.
Am married to an Igbo man, flo has thought me of Igbo soup, my husband and his relatives are always shocked whenever I made all their natives soups! I have all the ingredients will make this beautiful soup this weekend 👍👍👍👍. Thanks Flo 💋💋💃💃
@ Rita..., do you know that I was just about to tell Flo the same thing too! I'm also married to an Igbo man. I've been cooking native soups for over 30 yrs now. Just ❤️ FLO! I watch her a lot bc I believe she is a very lovely soul!
When I've been sent bitter leaf that is extra bitter, I rinse and boil it. The first water from the boil i set aside and pour it into my soup. That way I dont end up with flat bitter leaf soup. Hubby is an nnewi man and likes that bitter taste. Nice soup as usual aunty flo👍🏾
I am Yoruba but I love cooking in the kitchen. Especially giving my wife special treats. I love igbo soups and this is something I will like to prepare for wifey (permission to tweak your recipe just a bit). Thanks for the video. I love achi in egusi especially with chicken/turkey in the mix.
I am really trying to get back to my African roots whatever they are. Being a Pan African its a matter of research research research. But videos like this really helps. I am definitely going to try this. Thanks for sharing.
I love egusi soup with just bitter leaves only. The taste of the bitter leaf makes you want to eat more and after eating, it leaves this nice taste in your mouth.
Flo dalu rinne! I just made my new pot of Egusi this night. I followed your tutorial and it turned out to be a success except for my Onugbo which came out a little bitter. Lol Thank you so much for this, you don't know how valuable it is to people like us that can't cook. 🙏🏾

This is original igbotic egusi soup. This is the one my in-laws always serve me when I go to Owerri with akpu. I bet it tasted very delicious with the semolina. Thanks for sharing.
This is how my grandmother makes egusi soup. I hated it then😀 cos I'm onu uto. She adds bitter leaves to all her soup recipe including okra and ogbono soup. That was weird to me then. But now, my taste bud is changing and I'm the one requesting for soups with bitter leaves now😋
Just imagine me closing my eye and opening it with a sudden awaiting of an Igbotic Egusi around the corner. Party time like tomorrow never dies... hahahaha

One thing I learnt from your channel,is to always transfer your soup into a plastic container immediately after cooking to avoid the vegetables from over-cooking.
This looks so yummy and I will try Egusi with Achi because I have never added it to Egusi. I will use Okazi instead because bitterleaf and I are not friends ooo. Thanks for sharing such an amazing recipe as always 🤗🤗🤗
Wowww I have never tried cooking Equsi this way. I am sure this will taste great because I love bitterleaf soup on it's own as well as Equsi soup. I look forward to trying this power combo. Thank you aunty flo for bringing this to light.
Seriously Igbotic and yummy soup which I love and will make this delicious soup soon. Happy weekend with more blessings too, my lovely sis and Chef Flo

You need to add it early so it will be soft by the time the soup is done. Igbo style washed bitter leaves are hard. No, it's not bitter. I will never add bitter bitter leaves to my cooking.
This is how my mum makes Egusi soup. I prefer Egusi soup with bitter leaf. However, marriage makes you learn and adapt to other ways of cooking and enjoying meals🤣🤣🤣
I know this soup. They usually cook during occasions in the village like burial or traditional marriage. I prefer the taste of this igbotic egusi to the regular egusi soup because the taste is close to bitter leaf soup

Aunty Flo I hope you see this question. Why did you add the onugbu early? Did it have a bitter taste?
You need to add it early so it will be soft by the time the soup is done. Igbo style washed bitter leaves are hard. No, it's not bitter. I will never add bitter bitter leaves to my cooking.
Anty flo, do u knw akparata? If yes , can it be used in place of achi?
Yes, akparata, achi, ofo, Quaker oats, can all be used as alternative to cocoyam as thickener in these kinds of soups.
