No wonder Kevin was so irate!
Because Kevin O'Leary has screwed almost every business partners he has ever worked with. Because the businesses he has put on place have consistently failed. The biggest financial successes he have had, the ones he made his fortune on, were businesses he managed to sell despite failing. Notoriously, he is known for being the cofonder of Softkey, an educational game company that he sold to Mattel. Softkey was never profitable when he was at its head, and it was an absolute financial disaster for Mattel, considered one of the worst . According to Mattel, O'Leary convinced him to buy by using deceptive accounting to conceal just how badly the company was doing. So basically, he scammed them. If you look at his history, one by one, everything he has been involved with has been a disaster. He was even involved in promoting FTX recently. He's a fraud, a conman, nobody who knows what they are doing should want to do business with him. Don't take my word for it, actually look it up. If you don't know where to look, Common Sense Skeptic made a 3 parts series about him I recommend. And now, with all I just said, everyone seam to think Maneesh was rude in this video. Just imagine how rude it would have been if he had explained all of this.
I’m a chronic nail biter..but I’ll tell you even if I bought this I would hesitate to inflict pain on myself and shock myself even if it will kick the habit. This only works if someone else shocks you. Robert is correct.
Its also the fact that this product is only temporary on you, when someone or a medical professional can easily get you to stop a bad habit step by step until your habit stops which can be permanitally. This product was BS.
Exactly. The only thing this thing is going to condition you to stop doing is pushing the button. It needs to be automatic. When I open Facebook, it sends a signal to the watch to zap me 😅
Lori's absolutely right, he came for the publicity and that's exactly what he got. After this aired, they got 10,000 new users, managed to crowdfund 200K for three rounds to get the funds needed, and the costs to make went down by a 100K per month. They also got two investors, and with them it led to Pavlok being the best seller in the Gadget and Electronics category back in 2015. Today, they are still thriving.

@@wallyali3625 don’t shock collars work for dogs? The government should start forcing people to have shock collars to keep society running and everything moving the way they want.
Robert said exactly what I was thinking, if I don’t have the discipline to simply catch myself doing or before doing a habit I want to stop, why would I have the discipline to buzz myself? And then he goes “It only works if you don’t want it to”
I think starting it will be difficult but if ur keep wearing this watch and then giving you a shock when u find urself doing the bad habit eventually you can stop the bad habit , because by giving this shock brain would memorize to break when you start doing ut unconsciously
It's the old joke about self-help books; if I was motivated enough to buy a book and read it, I wouldn't need the book. But that said, for some people it's not about the motivation or discipline, it's about looking for a method that helps. If you have a habit to break and you think this might help, you'll buy one just to try, and I won't rule out it working for some people, esp those who start believing it does work. Remember the placebo effect is a huge factor in any treatment, plus there is a phenomenon where people who have a habit may, if they try, transfer the action to a different one, e.g. you'll stop tapping your feet if you play with a fidget-spinner. Combine that with unpleasant stimulus and you may just stop doing the thing you wanted to stop doing. If nothing else, I can imagine some parents buying these for their kids. It's not great parenting but, from the company's perspective, a sale's a sale!
I guess there are many people who do catch themselves but are unable to stop, ie drugs, gambling, etc. The question is can the shock over power the dopamine releases of certain drugs or addictions? If so, Im sure the user would use any means to try to reprogram the brain.
Well if you had the discipline to by the product in the first place then that should also lead you to gaining the discipline to use the product. You obviously bought the product because you wanted to stop a bad habit, because if you didn’t want to stop the habit then you wouldn’t have bought the product, so obviously the product will only work if you want it to work
To be fair I had a really bad self harming habit when I was a mid teen. And my go to everytime I was having those feelings I would use a rubberband on my wrist and it helped me. I think this is a bit different though.
I feel like the REAL reason he refused Kevin's deal, was that he knew his projections were complete BS, hence he would never be able to pay back that loan.
Dude got exposed so he had to back out quickly. You could see it in his face, he realized the gravity of the matter and the people who he was trying to scam.
Mark is so great with catching on to the bullshit of his evidence. He quickly points out the flaws in the external validity of his studies and (what amazes me) connects them to a characteristic flaw in the organization. Amazing stuff!
It’s backed with science though, I study psychology and it does work. Cue , craving , response , reward are the 4 components of a habit. If you don’t enjoy the reward with a shock the habit eventually breaks… fact

not realy mr Wonderful has a degree in this field and claims that it works. i personaly found simaliar techniques to work suprisingly well. so its not that farfetched to think something like this could work. the shady part was the rejection the rest is reasonable imo
Kevin’s line of credit offer was genius. I think he knew it was BS too. To hedge his bets, instead of buying 3.14% of a worthless business he can have some recourse to get his money back. That’s why he didn’t accept Kevin’s offer, can’t take the money and run
@@frankzander6234 the therapy this device references does work, it works on animals and people it's been studied for decades but the studies are always with a controller and subject, this takes the power of the shock and gives it to the subject and if you just don't use it or wear it it's basically useless, much like Robert said if you do have the discipline to stop and shock yourself you have the discipline to just stop outright, the problem with this device though is that it's not automated, and if it is automated it could potentially be too invasive

Kevin is my favorite shark tbh. Even before this video, I've always held him in high regards cause of the way he thinks and structures deals. He always makes the most sane offers and 80% of the time he's the shark who starts with an offer (if you have seen au version u'll know how important this is). Kudos to you Kevin you did the right thing
I can understand your points about Kevin's offers, but I find him a despicable person on the whole, and I could never work with him. Anyone going around calling himself "Mr. Wonderful" clearly isn't.
@@DeadlyBlade21 Perhaps. Being Canadian and having seen him long ago, I still think he is either a sociopath or a case of narcissistic personality disorder and would be a nightmare to work with, even though I am sure he would help you earn money. Any of the other Sharks, though, I would not hesitate to work with.
The real reason he said no is that Kevin wanted to be paid back and made a point of saying that IF his projections were right, he should have no problem paying. He knew he couldn’t pay, so he turned him down. Kevin called his bluff then kicked him out when he refused to admit it and insulted him.
It's the other way around. Kevin O'Leary is notoriously a horrible business partner. He was smirking to hide his own feelings. He knew that if he accepts any deal from him, he's gonna get screwed.
Someone coming on the tank with a product named after a guy who tortured dogs and declining a deal with Mr. Wonderful based on character is beautifully poetic.

Robert literally dismantled this man’s whole idea. And for the record for this to work you’d need someone else administering the shocks. The issue is that a lot of bad habits are done subconsciously and we don’t notice them. Lori was on point telling him how he needs his own clinical trials. Using citations from other studies gives you more legitimacy but it doesn’t seal the deal. You need to conduct your own peer reviewed study
So I found this on Amazon before searching the web, which brought me here. The model is on V3 and it recognizes hand gestures and activates on its own.
MARK CUBAN was correct!!! Lori finally l.i.s.t.e.n.e.d to what Mark was saying - and just repeated him. Don't credit Lori with this. Change the second half of your comment please.
It would be different if this thing can litterally detect when your doing a bad habit and then shock you automatically but you know what also works in the same ballpark? Having someone tell you not to do the thing you’re doing. Also a therapist or psychologist.
The product became very successful, Kevin saw that, the others didn't. Mark was too busy being pedantic on the presentation, and not the product;s potential.
I could see it too. Once Mr. Wonderful said he could easily do it if a 3rd of his projections were correct, his face scrunched. That gave me a clear sign that he absolutely fabricated it.
The reason this entrepreneur actually gave was that he didn’t want to associate with kevin o’leary because of a controversial stance he had against the middle class/poor people. I don’t exactly remember what he said but yeah.
This man is the literal embodiment of “let me copy your hw and I’ll change my answers a lil to show I did it and not you”. The only problem is you can’t do that when you’re citing studies not about or using your product.

You can't say " I'd work with anyone besides you" without saying why, this guy was unbearable regardless if it was a scam or not.
He was until Barbara interrupted
So he has 3 people who said they wouldn't invest in him... Mark Cuban calls him a scam artist to his face and is out and Kevin offers him $500k on his valuation with a loan and he says "I'd rather work with the person who called me the scam artist than the guy who offered me half a million dollars..." No wonder Kevin was so irate!
he explained it, it was edited out
Because Kevin O'Leary has screwed almost every business partners he has ever worked with.
Wasn’t it self evident Kevin just proved why by the way he acted swearing cause his feelings got hurt lol
I’m a chronic nail biter..but I’ll tell you even if I bought this I would hesitate to inflict pain on myself and shock myself even if it will kick the habit. This only works if someone else shocks you. Robert is correct.
And the one who shocks you could also just tell you to stop it.
