Not to mention that the app blew off after the episode aired, when the company still has $2m from investment laying around you do not need another investment considering that what she's asking is $600k an do not eclipse that initial investment she owned.
Chucking water on someone is “aggressive, violent and crazy…”. Wow. Do you live in a fuzzy unicorn utopia with soft pillows and chocolate running rivers?
Hey there @Dr Baptiste, one it’s crazy because you rarely see it in shark tank, and two when he physically grabbed Marks arm like that and he physically throws water at him… By definition that’s absolutely an aggressive reaction and not one to be tolerated in a work space
This worked out better than she could ever have dreamed. She had the sharks throwing water on each other, disagreeing, calling her names, the crying moment, and she stretched her presence over two entire segments. Bravo.
Honestly, not too sure about that, the only thing I remember at the end of her pitch is Mark Cuban calling her a gold digger and the water throwing. Her product was basically overshadowed by that unless you're seriously watching Shark Tank with all your attention.

She also speaks English with a Chinese accent (that's not Korean). I'd be interested to know her familial roots because one of the most common ways Chinese spies operate in the US is exactly this scenario. She has a track record of success with this company, and really shouldn't be forced into a down round. I think she could have offered advisory warrants and appeased all interested parties.
The fact that she actually declined 15% getting 2 sharks just confirms that she was there only for exposure. That deal would’ve been perfect for her. Mark was 100% right.
I mean, she definitely could have been there for just exposure, but she already raised $2.8 mil, so she already has lost a lot of equity in her company. She said she had multiple investors and 15% equity is a lot of equity when you already lost a lot of equity
So what? There were many companies That didn’t really need the money and sharks were drooling all over because they offer more equity. They are not offended to the fact that she didn’t really need the money. They are offended she only offered 5%.

Exactly. I wish people hadn't cut off Mark when he started by saying "You want Us to pay YOU..." She wanted a celebrity endorsement from a shark and like she said, she wanted to leverage their brand like Richard Branson's "coolness" or whatever. So instead of paying someone for their endorsement, she wanted to give them equity and take money from them instead.
@@Cobra85291 I would say it's more sneaky than manipulative. The woman with the mediation got me at first. But after watching it again in a business perspective, you'll realise she never planned to walk out of there with a deal other than to use up air time on Shark Tank to promote the app. She's baiting the sharks and they sortta sense that.
"Promote her app" that's her job. No one else is gonna do it for her. What do you think the sharks are doing by throwing water at each other for ? They're promoting their show So more people can watch their drama.
I mean. Do whatever it takes to get your business out there. Anyone who can manage to get on that show should go for it. People are acting like she has a sweatshop in Africa ther she’s exploiting. Respect the hustle
I mean obvious getting the exposure from the show is given. But to say she didnt value the sharks at all is not true. Just because she doesnt need their money doesny mean she doesnt value them. I believe she wanted the exposure and obviously the contacts and ability the shark could bring with a deal but she just doesnt value them that much. Dont forget that these are sharks, if you watch the show youd notice they always want to feel valued, it's not so much what something is really worth its about them feeling like they are valued. For instance if someone comes in with a super low valuation but with decent numbers then negotiate with the % and make it seem like they give in to the shark, the shark wouldve bought it, provided they're already interested. Then again there are other factors like the person presenting, sometimes you can pull off doing that, without the shark calling you out for lowball offer only to raise it a little and all. I think it's not fair to say that she doesnt value the shark, because there clearly is a value, just not the one the shark wants. The sharks often dont do deal if they dont get the offer they want, even if they actually value that company higher, because they would never lower their offer and look like their begging for a deal unless it's a business they really really want. The same goes with people coming in, if your business is doing okay and you dont have shortage of money, you already have some upper hand against the shark, so her valuing them less is appropriate.
If she would have taken that deal she would have devalued the company from 12 million to under 9 million instantly which would be extremely wrong to the investors already in. They would have had to work in advisor shares and they would have made up too much of the percentage.

Doesn't mean her purpose was only to get publicity. we don't know how much the others own from the company. The fact that she raised $2.8 mill means a large portion of her company is already taken by other investors. To offer 15% i.e. 3 times her original amount was just unfeasible for her

Gotta agree with Mark here. This show is not for exposure but for the entrepreneurs who really need this opportunity. If more people come in just for exposure the ones who really need the money and partnership will be stripped of their one chance to save their company.
The show’s producers decide, if everyone who auditions for the show, who gets on the show. It’s a TV show- it has to be good entertainment. The sharks don’t control who gets to come on the show and get exposure. So, if anyone is stripping chances of other, more well-meaning candidates, it’s the producers.
Well you do understand that exposure is Potter the shell or else they would be doing this behind the scenes and not on cameras. Everything about the show is about making money with something for off of someone. Every single one of these people would say hey you’ve got to make your money somehow. The market is already saturated with much more high-quality apps like Headspace and Calm, to name just two. Entrepreneurs come here ready to value the sharks and not the treat themselves like sharks. And to come here for only exposure is disrespectful to the whole point of the show.

I think Mark calling the entrepreneur a "gold digger" simply because she's financially responsible was way beyond the pale and deserved water in his face.
Though Mark Cuban was correct in that she was just there to get the free advertising for her product, it doesn’t make her a gold digger. Many others have done it before her and weren’t called gold diggers.

While calling her a gold-digger was a bit much, she does need to look at the more realistic side of things. She wasn't happy with how the sharks looked at it in how they can make a profit. Well, sadly that IS what a business is. They can't just throw their money into someone's project off of passion alone.
I think it's like they said, she wanted a deal for her, not a deal that Mark Cuban wanted. Richard is right in my opinion, getting the best warchest for your company will always be the endgame....
I would invest $300k for 5% in her company without a second thought. The sharks are lucky to get this opportunity. When Uber was coming up celebrities were begging to invest in it. Can't believe they threw such a fit for $300k.
I feel Mark and Damon were right . It was strange to see water getting thrown in the face ... and then Mark through it all over Branson's clothing .
You must not follow silicon valley type funding. With revenue and active users like what her app had, $600K is nothing. If you check crunchbase, you can see that she's raised 10 MILLION after this airing. The sharks are acting like this is some retail product. Welcome to software

Other sharks see through this but instead of bashing her they basically give advice for those who would actually be honestly seeking a deal coming in there when they shouldn't be raising capital.
Mark’s comment about the children resonated so much with me, I grew up watching this with my grandmother and I learned so much, especially from Lori and Mark and I think this is an amazing show
I don't think she was fake crying.
When someone says "im not even lying" when nobody even questioned if they were lying, theyre lying.

Its been going on for ages
The show is for entertainment, first.
Well you do understand that exposure is Potter the shell or else they would be doing this behind the scenes and not on cameras. The market is already saturated with much more high-quality apps like Headspace and Calm, to name just two. And she didn't bring a unique proposition to the table to differentiate herself from the pack. In fact, her plan to enlist celebrities is exactly what Calm has been doing aggressively for the last couple of years. I tend to agree with Mark, although he was very harsh in his appraisal, that she was mainly on Shark Tank for promotional purposes. I mean, she has 2.8M in the bank so the Sharks were right to ask: what do you want us to do? Finally, I think it was unprofessional for Richard Branson to throw water in Mark's face. @B that's cuz it's their show and the entrepreneurs choose to deal with these 'Sharks' that have gotten their money (one way or another)
@B But that’s the whole point of the show? The name says it “Shark Tank”. Entrepreneurs come here to value the sharks. The sharks are meant to be treated very highly aka valued. If they’re not valued, and the sharks doesn’t make their offer expensive, the show would just be another charity show. Entrepreneurs come here ready to value the sharks and not the treat themselves like sharks. And to come here for only exposure is disrespectful to the whole point of the show.
