Mark, Kevin, and Robert were absolutely correct about the first deal. Daymond and Laurie threw money at the guy without even giving him a chance to really explain anything. It felt like they were trying to just shut him up before he could even get the chance at a potentially better offer.

    • @jin6000

Not totally accurate. Yes, I believe they wanted the deal for themselves, but they were absolutely just in making their offers when they did.
Sometimes the basic concept of something is enough to know that:
      A) It’s filling a gap in a market
      B) It’s innovative
      C) It’s scalable
All of which this company was, and proved to be. The basics of making the backend work are super achievable, especially with their connections.

I definitely agree with this. Sometimes business ideas are greater than business itself, even if the business model isn’t fantastic right now, with Lori and Dayton they can help develop the business model. Just the idea itself is strong enough to warrant a buy in for the business. Being able to invest early gives you a competitive advantage in the market place, but this does make the actual investment very risky. Hence why Lori and Daymon took a risk by not even needing to hear anything more and believing in the Founder and his mission.

It’s not that the other sharks don’t think it’s important, it’s that they want to make sure that what they are investing in is safe and reliable. Plus, one of the best parts of the show is seeing how the sharks question the validity of the products/companies, so this whole “make the deal now, details later” argument from Lori defeats one of the biggest purposes of the show. Plus she kept cutting the poor guy off.

The part I find the most hilarious from this is during the Toor portion, everyone except Chris understood that the reason the product he was trying to invest was so good wasn't actually because of the lockbox itself but rather the time you save in viewing the house. They kept pointing out to him that it could take days to weeks just to view the house after getting ahold of an agent. But this guy made it so if you were interested in the property, all you had to do is just walk up and request a private walk through of the property that day, not waiting days to weeks to find out it's not what you're interested in.
