He chose to add Gimli in this video because he is the one to sing the song/poem in the books 🤩 The late generation of dwarfs is summoned to sing with him
As a LOTR geek, I love hearing the references to people and places I've read about in the books (severeal times). And Geoff is the ONLY musician who do that world true justice!
This makes my LOTR fan heart so happy.
I’m gobsmacked that this exceptional performance was performed by a single man. Geoff Castellucci has a unique talent: with seeming ease he transitions between voices with exceptional control, expression, and tempos. His arrangements are always inventive where interwoven harmonies create a rich vocal tapestry.
Geoff built the tomb and columns from scratch. And painted them himself.
Geoff and Kathy built the tomb, but part of why they waited so he could film at Pattycake was because of set pieces they had, like the columns. He'll probably use the tomb as part of Halloween yard decorations next month.
It's Gimli and each of the others appear "magically" to help sing the song of ancient times.
This is a gorgeous creation that will require weeks to disect. Every time I watch is a new discovery.
Epic in every way!! Loved this!!! Youre the best QoFy! Your interest and knowledge of the Tolkien world shows through and brings this reaction to the highest level. 🩵💙🎶😎
Please nerd out as much as possible, makes my LOTR lovin' heart good to see other fans out in the wild! Excellent reaction, too. ☺
The range of one man labeled bass is a testament of his talent we bow down Geoff!
He is so good at "Epic" 😉🌹🕊
Awesomeness all the way around. Truly a song of great beauty!
OMG epitome of TALENT.. goosebumps! You’re on fire QoFy.. phenomenal breakdown 💯♥️2u
Love watching you nerd out, QoFy! This arrangement from Geoff is mesmerizing, and the video is magical!!
Geoff got inspiration from Clamavi De Profundus for the singing style.
Left to right....
Killi, Thorin, Gimili, Filli and Bofur.
Swap Filli and Killi

You're right. I knew that. Just forgot who was who. My bad. That old age brain got me there 😂
Thank you for the correction.
Gimli's beard and helm were custom-made especially for this video. Going just by the costume out of context, it *could* reasonably have been Gloin--he and Gimli resembled each other in the movies, and they both wore the same helmet--but this is an interpretation of Gimli singing the song to the rest of the Fellowship in Moria in _The Fellowship of the Ring._ I don't think he actually sang it in the chamber where they found Balin's tomb, but I'm pretty sure that's what the set is supposed to be. Three of these other four Dwarves had died in the Battle of Five Armies decades before, but Gimli undoubtedly knew all of them; I remember seeing a reference somewhere that he wanted to join the expedition to the Lonely Mountain, but wasn't old enough at the time.
BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE!!❤❤❤❤
Durin the First was one of the seven dwarves created by Aulë, one of the Valar, and encased behind stone in various locations around Middle-earth, until such time as the Eldar (elves) appeared, and the dwarves awoke. Durin was the first to awaken, and therefore the eldest of all dwarf fathers, and became the dwarves' first and greatest king. He lived some 2,400 years during the First Age, and was thought to have reincarnated several times afterward.
It’s almost as though Geoff knows what you like!😅. Great visual production and vocals 🔥🐉! Great breakdown Qofy..you gotta love a singing dwarf 😀❤️‼️
it’s Gimli Geoff with a prosthetic nose!
Great reaction and analysis (as usual ❤)
This iis epic love the fact gimli Islington it it sounds as full as a mens choir ❤
Instalment #3. This was a poem in the books. Think he will give us a 4th instalment? Time will tell. He said his face meat can only take so much abuse in a year.
He did hint that there might be a fourth! I think it will depend on the pleas from his Patrons!
Thank you for your reaction, your love of LOTR rivals mine and I really enjoyed your response to Geoff’s interpretation of the poem/song.❤
☺️‼️
❤❤❤
Ive recently gotten into dnd lore with baldurs gate three. And im assuming dnd/lotr are very much related. So now hearing this song and understanding and knowing of stuff said such as "in waterdeep" and actually knowing of waterdeep is so cool. Geoff is phenomenal as allways
Geoffs clearest and smoothest lowest chest notes ive heard in a while, besides unshaken, whiskey in the jar, and superstition with voiceplay
❤
It's Gimli's generation. All the others are long dead...their bones scattered on the floor. Durin in his tomb ... (made by Geoff himself) They are ghost (and sing very well indeed!) Only Gimli is there alive and standing tall (because of Geoff's long legs😂) 🎉❤
The only new "Dwarf" is the center one.
❤️❤️
Gimli as the first and last dwarf before the others came to sing of Durin was the tribute of the Durin's people who came in as ghosting in, then ghosting out leaving in Gimli.
PSA: Listen to the original performance by Clamavi de Profundis. They’re a family group of deep voices, and they really sound like a band of dwarves singing about their ancient fathers. Peter Barber actually reacted to it, if you want some excellent commentary.
This one will surprise many. Enjoy!
🔥🤩
React to Colm Mcguiness, Bobby Bass and Jonathan Young version of this song. Don't remember if you reacted to it already, but if not, it's really good.
Besides that, really nice version made by Geoff and a really good video, congrats. Keep up with the good work mate!
Characters and clones are, from left to right: Fili/Goff. Thorin Oakenshield/Daryl, Gimli/Jeoph, Kili/Geoff, and Bofur/Jeff.
This version of The Song of Durin is based on the one created by Clamavi De Profundis: ua-cam.com/video/uxfoa23skHg/v-deo.html
PattyCake Productions provided a lot of the filming location and a lot of the set dressing. Other props were painted by Kathy and Balin's tomb was built by Geoff in his garage. A lot of the costuming is the same as used in Misty Mountains Cold and I See Fire. Gimli's helmet, axe, and beard were especially built for this video. Fun fact: Thorin Oakenshield is Kathy's favorite dwarf.
The music style, more or less, ok maybe less, but the voice, undoubtedly great, GREAT voice !
Words by JRR Tolkien (Fellowship of the Ring). When the Fellowship is in Moria, Gimli chants this song to tell Sam what Moria was like a long time ago. Tune by De Clamavi Profundis.
