It's you, of all reactors, who have found the perfect phrase to describe this rendition: "Chills, dude". Thanks for another great reaction.
Geoff's "Song of Durin" is my new favorite of his solo works. I believe that Geoff's vocal skills are equaled by his talent for arranging music and editing for his videos. Kathy is a big part of the success of these efforts too. This is epic!
Reduced me to tears, he did. I love the dwarves. Geoff's range just floors me. And, yes, it does feel like five men singing in harmony! Just one question; how is he ever going to top this?
It was originally Geoff's voice that caught me, of course. But watching the technical expertise that he has with the arrangements, the storyboard, production, and editing and knowing that it is mostly him and his wife. Eli with lighting and Layne and Tony (former member) with the production facility this time.
Speaking of Tony Wakim, Voiceplay did Phantom of the Opera about 9 years ago. Rachel Potter was the featured artist with Tony playing the lead. You will love it, trust me!
Thank you for your insightful comments. I don't have the musical talent to really understand what makes Geoff's voice and arrangements so wonderful. What I do understand is that he has the capability to bring out the soul of the song and carry the listener along with him. Somehow he also conveys a timelessness and deep humanity which engenders a feeling of peace and tranquility. I think this is because he has such a deep respect and passion for his art and an artist he surely is.
Geoff never ceases to amaze
so true !!!😄
Watching you watching Geoff is so amazing! I love your reactions and also what you discover for us.
I try to pay attention to the technical discussion but my brain simply latches on to the overall magic in this one. I feel that Geoff achieved another rung here. I feel the greatness. It's goosebump central.
I will need to (gladly) watch this reaction again and again to catch everything illuminated. It is awesome to have such a fun guide.
Yep. As he is so good at, he raised the bar yet again!💙
*THIS* is what ears are for! I've been listening to this one on repeat. It's my favorite Geoff song. And I totally geeked out about Gimli (incidentally, that name is in spellcheck, wow). If they ever brough in Legolas, I think I'd pass out. 💙
I absolutely love this song. Waves of goosebumps every time I hear it & I've been playing it daily. Geoff knocked this one out of the ballpark. This and the new release by Nightwish have both given me chills. Enjoyed your reaction and analysis, Daniel. 😊
I wonder why the bass voice captivates us so much. It just does something to my soul.
I believe Tolkien would approve.
I certainly do.
Excellent! Thank you, Daniel! I like how you masked the video to comply with copyright issues. Sad, but it is what it is.
Great reaction. Thanks
This is one of the songs i love to listen over and over again. ❤️🔥
Always enjoy your analysis. This arrangement and execution of this piece was sheer beauty!
Beautiful ...🌹🕊
Great reaction ❤😊
Another great reaction thank you. Please use the rectangle view because the oval shape cuts off half the video of them/him.
Sadly, reactors have to use masking and filter more and more due to YT and copyright issues.
Thank You again. Now it's time for another swedish singer, Erk Grönvall singing I Will Always Love You, the Whitney Houston song! It's a amazing 😊
Geoff perfectly captures what Gimli must have felt when he sang this. It didn't make it into the movie, but in the books when the Fellowship are amazed at the size of Moria, Sam wonders how dwarves could have lived in such 'darksome holes'. Whereupon, Gimli sings this to educate the hobbit about the greatness of dwarf history and that of this place, focusing on its founder, Durin.
And it's a nice bit of video composition to work in his 'Geoff-ettes' as dwarf characters from The Hobbit, now but ghosts to Gimli, as he stands amidst the wreck that was once his beloved, shining city of _Khazad-dûm,_ singing of past greatness, and perhaps yet to be again.
That which was once called _Dwarrowdelf_ in the Westron speech ('dwarf digs'), and _Khazad-dûm_ ('dwarf mansions') in the language of the dwarves, is now in the Elvish language _sindarin_ merely _Moria_ ('the black pit'). Heartbreaking for any stout dwarf such as Gimli!
This is an absolutely perfect tribute to Durin. Geoff is so good! It's my favorite of the 3 Hobbit videos. One thing I don't like is the oval transparent picture of this video.
I don't really like it either, but unfortunately due to being slammed with so much music copyright recently, I'm experimenting with varying video formats to try to avoid it. But after a while, if I don't get the results I need, I'll go back to the original format
@@goodeveningstories I do hope so at least with VoicePlay since they don't enforce the copyright.
Hola desde Argentina... Geoff... Geoff... Geoff... Sacude el alma... Verdad? Y tú reacción también es genial .. se disfruta mucho más cuando es tan bien explicada! Gracias!!! Un abrazo a la distancia 😊
Appreciate your reaction and insights to this newest Geoff masterpiece!
I'm at... more than a little bit of a loss for why this cover brings tears to my eyes the way it does. Like... I've never heard the song before that I'm aware of. While yes, I grew up with Lord of the Rings (particular the BBC radio play that was a staple of long family road trips), I have never had any interest in the extended lore of Middle Earth, and so Durin's story is not one that I've really had any experience with. And YET... the deep sadness that Geoff puts into this cover... literally makes my eyes well up. That's... how you know you've really pulled it off with a song like this!
