@@dudeman71213 I saw them 7 times live and have a lot of autographed t-shirts. The only Stryper song I would recommend BP listen to is Soldiers Under Command. It was a good video and one of their hardest songs. My 80's/early 90's Christian Metal collection is quite large. Cedar Point made me turn my Stryper shirt inside out since it said To Hell With The Devil (another good reaction choice) while some other guy was allowed to wear a hat that said "Bitch, bitch, bitch". I was furious.

I'm not a drummer, but the more I hear by her, she certainly among the best (there's a section in a live long-intro to 'Sick of It' that blew my mind... like I could see after 20 takes in studio... but live!). And... then she sings. While drumming.
They said John made her audition by playing Rush's Tom Sawyer, thinking there'd be no way, but she killed it. (Big Neil Peart fan here.)

Skillet is one of my favorites. They can go super hard. They have some amazing ballads. They have skill, range, and convictions that have not changed in decades. _Stars_ is my go to 'lift up song' and _Feel Invincible_ is the track I listen to when I need to fake it to make it.

The best thing about Skillet is that the messaging in their music is universal. If no one told you they were a Christian rock band, you wouldn't know it. Once you do know that fact, you can kind of hear it in their music, but they don't beat you over the head with it.

She used to sing a few songs doesn’t prefer it, but she has a beautiful voice and since they got Jen the drummer now she does a lot of the singing, and with Jen coming into the band has made skillet top tier! Skillet had been around since the mid 1990's. Their first album came out in 1996 and they've never stopped since. They released their 11th(!) album in 2022. There is only one original member of the band left, and that is John Cooper (lead vocals, bass guitar, acoustic guitar). John's wife, Korey Cooper (rhythm guitar, keyboards, synthesizers, backing vocals), joined in 1999. The current drummer, Jen Ledger, joined the band in 2008 when she was just 18! The current lead guitarist, Seth Morrison, joined in 2011.
Skillet's sound had evolved over the years. You can check out the differences on songs like "Saturn" (1996), "Locked in a Cage" (1998), "More Faithful" (1998), "Best Kept Secret" (2000), "Kill Me, Heal Me" (2001), and "You Are My Hope" (2001) (Korey singing with John).
From about 2003 onward, they pretty much found their sound, with songs like "Forsaken" (2003), "Savior" (2003), "Rebirthing" (2006) (feat Korey), and "Comatose" (2006). They vocally found their sound with the addition of Jen Ledger on songs like "Hero" (2009) (first single to feature Jen Ledger), "Rise" (2013), "Not Gonna Die" (2013), "Feel Invincible" (2016), "The Resistance" (2016) (wait for the song/video to finish), "I Want to Live" (2016), and "Legendary" (2019).
Fun fact: Their fans are called Panheads.

Check out some of their songs that feature their violinist. Their violinist is phenomenal. If they still have the same one now she used to be the nanny for John and Korey Cooper, the founders of the group. They are great live and one of the few Christian rock groups to really hit it big. Going from memory when I saw them live John explained he wrote this about the dual nature of man. Then he went into a mini sermon about his faith.

Skillet has been around since the late 90's and is about to release a new album in November. John Cooper has a very unique voice and in some songs is offset beautifully by drummer Jen Ledger. John's wife Korey plays rhythm guitar, keyboard, minimoog, whatever instrument she decides to experiment with and she does most of the mixing herself. Rounding out the current lineup is Seth Morrison on lead guitar. They went through a symphonic rock period utilizing Jonathan Chu on violin and Tate Olsen on cello, who still tours with the band. Their official videos are awesome, some fun like Awake And Alive and Circus For A Psycho, some very serious like Not Gonna Die and Save Me. There are even some great fan made videos that the band approved like Collide with clips from Marvel movies spliced together and Dominion as a Jurassic World tribute. They have also worked with WWE providing walk out music and show themes.

Its really great when you dive into music and artists you've never explored. Skillet is great band with songs deep in meaning, but super catchy chorus. They push Christian Rock into a main stream setting while not over presenting concepts that may put off some casual listeners. They walk a fine line not many bands have had success with.
    Try "Hero", "Resistence" "Invincible".
Love the reactions BP... keep up the great content giving people chances to hear new music.

What you described at the end is exactly what happens in the TV series “lethal weapon” with his childhood then when he lost his wife and child……. He struggles with his self worth in the show and it makes it a very good show to watch if you’ve ever been through it

Hey, I just started watching your reactions and I wanted to recommend something. I don't feel that this artist getenoigh appreciation but they passed away before they could really get big. The artist is Chris Ledoux, any of his songs are great, but personally "Stampede," "This Cowboys Hat," or "Bang a Drum" are some of the best and have some fantastic stories.
Keep it up! Love your videos!! Thank you!

More great songs by them are "Finish Line " "Hero" "You Ain't Ready" "The Resistance" "Awake and Alive" "Rise Up" "Feel Invincible" "Undefeated".
You should also look up Thousand Foot Krutch, Toby Mac, Red, and Kutless. All great artists.

Since the first song that I heard from Skillet I'm hooked. If you like this song and being patriotic, like we all here know that you are, I really believe that you'll enjoy their "The Resistance".

YASSS.. at the end of one of your reactions skillet popped up and I was hoping you would react to this song.
    You read my mind.
This song is a banger. First heard it while I was on a 72 hour hold in the psych ward many many years ago. Really helped me channel some things. Great for working out some pent-up aggression.

Being a jujitsu guy myself I suggest you listen to their song " finish line", great message and unique sound awesome song to train to... the interesting thing about "monster" song is that it is about a person struggling with feeling guilty about being a sinner, they also made a sequel song called "back from the dead"

You found Skillet! They're definitely one of my favorite bands. They have such great songs. I've got an entire playlist dedicated to them. More great Skillet songs are "Hero" "Surviving The Game" "Back to Life" "You Ain't Ready" "Legendary" "Not Gonna Die" "Rise Up" "Feel Invincible" "Back from the Dead" "Sick of It" "Finish Line" (The last one is actually my ring tone😋)
I also recommend looking up Thousand Foot Krutch, Toby Mac, Red, and Fireflight. All have awesome music worth listening to.

Well Black.. This is one I have NEVER heard. Never heard of the band either. But for me, it portrayed being in a bi-polar episode. Looking in the mirror, seeing the darkness and fighting your way out. Getting back to a more normal state. Loved that voice inflection on that one bar of "Feel like a monster", it added that fighting your demons mentally. Great song!! this is going on my forever playlist, right up their with Krizz Kaliko's Unstable!!!

I think of this more of like what the HULK goes through not good angel bad angel. It feels like that feeling you get when you get pumped up before a boxing or wrestling match when you get that pep talk. Skillet is amazing. I use this song when I get into a bad space in my head. It is the last song I play to get me fired up from calming my self for self reflection.

Was brought up on Skillet, it's always shocking that after 20 + years, that people heavily involved with music have not heard of them.
I prefer this song live over listening to it streamed. As stated multiple times, Awake and Alive is a masterpiece.

This came at a great time for me. Life's been pretty rough lately and I've just recently realized I've just been super angry and aggressive all the time. The other day I snapped at someone who really doesn't deserve it and it made me stop and reflect on what I've become. Definitely something I need to work on.
