It honestly felt less like an attack and more like an invitation.
@@eye-chan1711 Yeah, and that's weird given that now we know that Traveller and The Witness definitely don't have the same goals.
The best part of the whole campaign
Notice the OG fireteam from D1 died.
@joaquin5796Even Season of Defiance is filler. They resurrect Amanda just to kill her off again.

So apparently Lightfall’s story was HALF of what The Final Shape’s story was supposed to be. I feel like they tried to make this DLC feel like Infinity War, but it didn’t hit as hard.
If this is the case then it was a mistake slicing it in half.
the rest is in cash grab season pass which is a shame.
It would've been one DLC if they didn't have to revamp the Light subclasses.
I feel like we were suppose to get Strand in WQ, the Light 3.0 here. But then they changed it all. Part of me thinks it was so they can get a release in 2024 for Destiny 10 years anniversary
Witness walks in, Calus leaves, we follow Calus, spend 90% of the campaign doing beyond light but green, we stop Calus, the witness wins
What about that isn’t satisfying
I have to say ... more questions than answer in this campain. Big fan of the lore, and we didn't get any explaination about the Veil. Felt like a rushed campain.

1:43 not many people know this, and Ik I’m late as hell for this but the titan that got sliced up like that was actually REED-7. Some people might recognize him from his linear called Reed’s regret. He was the exo titan from Shayura’s fireteam, Evaze did a nice breakdown of her story recently and I highly recommend it for any lore junkies out there.
Major Halo 5 vibes on account of what we were advertised vs what we got.

The best and only part of the campaign that deserves the name "Lightfall".
Also the first mission
Damn is it really bad? I was planning to get it today😕, this opening looked so hype
@@godslastgift1007 Yeah its pretty just okay. This is the only major thing that happens. The rest is strand and unexplained side missions.
@@godslastgift1007 It's really not that bad. If you like high action sci-fi shooter fun, with a focus on a new locaton and new characters, then I recommend it. If you're expecting something other than an action hero story like they advertised (and pacing is a bit too fast, needed 1 more mission imo), then the post campaign stuff will likely be your style. Overall I rate the campaign 7 or 8/10, better than Beyond Light, not as good as TWQ. Gameplay is top tier tho
@@godslastgift1007 Bungie really fumbled with the expansion. This is the first time I’ve really regretted an expansion purchase.

0:54 I freaking love it when the chorus plays when the Traveler uses it's power
The story should focused exactly more on this Battle than the entire Neomuna Strand Arc. Battles on and above Earth would be amazing like a huge Pyramid attack on the Last City, where we fight together with the Vanguard and all characters frim previous seasons. The character development of Crow, Zavala, Caiatl in the Season of the Haunted could be connected with that and aren't ignored like we have now. I mean what did the Vanguard even do in Lightfall? The looked two hours through the windows of the HELM
Yeah, this is something I've always despised about Destiny: the coolest moments for story tend to be in cutscenes or completely out of gameplay. It's like watching a movie you have to walk to every scene for
I mean the season is about that
@@Okino569it’s not really so far. It’s mainly about freeing captives and potentially figuring out what the witness wants with them.
The opening of the Red War was amazing for this reason. Honestly, whoever said 'Red War felt more like Lightfall than Lightfall did' was right. Actually fighting alongside Zavala and other players against the Cabal in the old Tower square and getting behind Zavala's Ward of Dawn to defend against incoming artillery was pretty cool in hindsight. They should do that more often to make you feel like you're interacting directly with other characters more often, kinda like how it felt having Noble Team fighting alongside you in Reach
In the trailers where you see our guardian hitching a ride on a cabal ship through warp travel, I initially thought it would be at a rush-back-home-point in the story. Instead, it was us pursuing Osiris after this cutscene. Now that isn't bad or anything, but getting some action on Neomuna, making allies, discovering something critical, and then rushing back home would have made for a much better narrative. Kind of like Infinity War which many people thought this would be similar to, the characters should be running around with their hair on fire... instead of having an 80s training montage with the subclass which is only a little bit more popular right now.
Unrelated note, if they wanted to make training strand a big point in the story, then there should have been a reason we particularly needed strand. The actual only thing you are unable to do without strand in the campaign is destroy those jamming machines. All other obstacles are passable otherwise. And i don't just mean in-game. The narrative never explained why we particularly need Strand. It said we needed it, but the attitude was because it was funky and new. It was the ace up our sleeve, but nothing defined it as an ace. I was personally coked up on my hunter arc melee stacks, and I bet narratively that my melees with a tractor cannon and one-two punch proc would serve better than the psychic connections and advantages of strand. Idc if he's near-godly, nothing in the story built Strand up to be more than green strings. It's a great subclass, and it was better-balanced than Stasis at release, but it was also only as critical to Lightfall's story as Stasis was to Beyond Light.
Honestly this felt way too rushed, we could have seen an epic space battle. Instead we basically saw this entire scene in the trailers.
The visual of the witness cleanly slicing the guardians ships and ghosts goes so hard. There’s something so terrifying about the idea of an entity so powerful it can cut anything into perfect, evenly sliced pieces with the flick of a wrist.
Seeing the Witness just go into the beam of light like it's nothing is insanely satisfying.
you had me at honestly
according to the new trials ship lore, Valiant Memory, the titan that got french fried is Reed-7, yknow, Reeds Regret

Truly one of the campaigns of all time.
They made it seem as if we were going to be fighting in this very scene, right at home. And no, I'm not talking about Season of Defiance ( season 20). Even then, Season 20 is taking place on EDZ. I was expecting to fight in orbit and in the city, on top of what we're doing at Neomuna.
If you frame the video at 0.2x and at 2:42 appears to be the veil and the tangles below, forming a body, thats something
Not gonna lie i was expecting a lot more from this space battle. Where is Caitls fleet, Maras fleet, also doesn’t spider have a few ketches? Compared to the space battle Maras fleet vs oryxs fleet. That space battle was incredible, i was expecting the same amount of action here. Since the witness has come to finish what it started oh so long ago.
There was a total of 6 friendly ships in this cutscene, Amanda's Hawk, 3 Arcadia Class ships and 2 more that got blown up by the piramids, so you have the entire Calus and Piramid fleet vs a handfull of guardian ships, amazing effort by Bungie like allways
For real though. Like where is our allies this is hardly a “resistance” against the witness.
i don’t think they were together yet. i think they finally assembled all of them after the massive L the vanguard took in this cutscene

I have no issues with the events of Lightfall. I have issues with the execution of Lightfall.
According to the Season 21 Trials ship, Valiant Memory's lore tab, those three guardians that were sliced by the Witness were Reed-7, Aisha and Shayura. The same guardians all those trials weapons are named after.
Awesome time we dint have an amazing opening cutscene since the taken king!
Rip og guardians
if the contents would just slightly match the quality of the opening, the extension would be worth buying. But I regret the money I paid for this, severely.
The Witness is so powerful !
Man imagine if Lightfall was all about this war in space and we learned about the Witness, fought Calus, etc. No Neumuna but they could’ve always introduced that after Final Shape
As someone who has been playing Destiny since year one D1, I was confused af by this campaign. Gameplay was awesome, story was mid and confusing
This Campaign had so much potential 😭😭
That sound design !!
I got chills when the witness told callus that they must obtain the Destiny 2 Lightfall
I paid way too much for almost 10 years of this game for this. Also I get a big 6 on my head just like everyone else. Thanks Bungie.
Oh hell it took me till now to realize that the Titan watching his ghost get diced suffers the same fate.
A slightly different comment of appreciation: Can we take a moment to digest how rich in emotion are the Pilot 1's voice lines? A sentence so simple as "I'm hit!" bursts equally in emotion of despair and panic. Absolutely stunning work for conveying the chaos from a not-so-credited voice actor!
SPOILERS:
A little disappointed. It’s called lightfall but the campaign just ends after we kill Calus and us players are just left there to not know if the light is falling or not.
I hope there will be more in the raid and dungeons.
Is it just me or does what happens to calus at the end is a bit disappointing too ? Like he’s been a mysterious enemy and been hyped for a long time but just dying like that seems disappointing
@@abdullahfaisal1653 If it were me, I would have made Calus have two boss phases where the he turns into a being infused with darkness by the Witness in his second phase (Similar to Rhulk). Feel the same way.

We’re gonna win , eyes up guardians
Here we are...three months later and three days away from Season of the Deep...and I'm watching this cutscene again.
I was so excited for Lightfall. I've been playing Destiny since 2015 with my two friends, and I love the story and characters. I know some people can take or leave the story, but I personally have enjoyed it having always been a fan of Light vs Dark stories. I really love the Traveler as a character, being such a mysterious entity with a long background. I was so excited to learn more about the Traveler in Lightfall. I was excited to learn about the Veil and what it has to do with the Traveler. I was excited to see the Traveler finally fight.
It's no surprise that all of the marketing from Lightfall pretty much exclusively used footage from this cutscene: It is EASILY the best part of the entire DLC. Everything that comes after it is filler with no answers. Nothing about the Traveler. Nothing about the Witness. We didn't even learn anything about the Veil, the thing we went to Neptune to protect. Lightfall just felt like it was a big filler to set up later stuff. Season of the Defiance...I get what they were trying to do. They were trying to show humanity and its allies band together. Our skies are full of friends in the Traveler's absence. I get it, and it could have worked. But after getting nothing from Lightfall, Season of Defiance just felt hollow and equally disappointing since it really didn't advance the story much either.
For me...Lightfall is the worst Destiny DLC just from sheer disappointment. Even Curse of Osiris was better for me, and I found that DLC boring. Most other DLCs I didn't really have much expectations for. I just kinda went along with whatever. I was playing with my friends and we were having a good time at the end of the day. Witch Queen was really cool and raised a lot of mysteries in the story. Mysterious I had hoped Lightfall would either answer or at least give hints. But...nope.
The Light and Dark saga is nearly over and, for better or worse, I will more than likely hang around to see it through. I am genuinely excited for Season of the Deep, though not nearly as hyped as I was for Lightfall and I genuinely hope all the seasons up to The Final Shape are great. At this point...they NEED to be. But after all is said and done, I'm done with Destiny and Bungie.
So the 3 gaurdians that were sliced up when they tried to get close to the Witness, yeah, those were the 3 original ones from the Destiny 1 cutscenes, we also saw 2 of them at the end of Season of Seraph. They're dead now.
What is the veil?
this mission had so much potential to the expansion, the ending, everything.
2:38 I absolutely LOVE how it plays the Lightfall motif when the Witness touches the Traveler!!!
I only juste realised after seing it again that when thé witness cut the ghost, when thé guardian watch it flotting apart, his head is dividing too.
Can someone help me find the music/soundtrack in this cutscene? The one with the menacing choir in particular is what I'm looking for; it plays when the Witness destroys those starships while approaching the Traveler.
Bungie should start posting all campaign cinematics for historical purposes near the end of the expansion year.
Can't wait for the final shape now
You can actually see the final shape opening cutscene if you finish the light fall campaign
Final Shape better be like 6 months from now and just be a season because this story is incomplete as it is (because final Shape is literally just the second half of Lightfall. They actually just went in and siphoned half of the content out.)
@@iamoctonate Final shape dlc is next year not 6 months.
@@thetraveler2224 hes being ironic

Guys the whole radial mast and calus thing is just dirt in the eye for guardians, it was all witness plan for guardian and his ghost to find the veil for witness to be able to open that portal.
Neomuna is complete devoid of any life honestly this whole dlc feels like nothing eventful happens it feels like interlude to the thing that is supposed to be happening its like a chase to an abrupt end and even though the campaign was lengthy for me it felt like we really accomplished nothing i mean if we are supposed to lose this part how did the end feel so emotionless most of the characters to respond to the ending are like yeah cant be helped this is supposed to be a vital part of the overall story and now we have to wait another year for a conclusion ? and what about strand its like after the campaign its an entirely useless subclass the cooldowns are to long some of the other classes supers are reused you can tug on the strings of life and make anything in your wildest dreams you chose blades for hands and floating green orbs ? where's the miniguns or artillery bombardments could you not think of anything new?
Lightfall is just a filler to introduce strand since they didn’t have the dev resources to have it in the witch queen. The original lightfall campaign is what we will probably get in the final shape.

In term of lore it suck hard, we learn nothing and these only 4 real mission the other take place in lost sector or a very short and strand focus, the campaign is fun but so heart breaking for the lore, so bad, a Beyond Light 2.0 and after the quality and the success and the amout of money they got with Witch Queen it's just unbelivable....
It was supposed to be the biggest bad and quoting the devs "the end of the light and dark saga" the entire WQ campaign hyped this up, you simply cannot justify mediocrity with Hype let down. The campaign is halfbaked feels as if most of the cinematics are missing or themselves incomplete there is no lore and the writing is simply bad, none of this issues were in WQ or even shadowkeep that too many players hate, but then goals were clear, there was worldbuilding and consistant writing.
