Honestly my favorite cutscene in destiny is the one where Savathûn talks to the traveler I don’t know the dialogue the way she moves her hands everything just comes to life for me
It is ridiculous how much emotion they were able to give to a character so utterly inhuman in that scene. Honestly, it may just flat out be the best scene I’ve ever seen in any medium ever where only CGI monster characters were involved. Edit: To be clear, by “giving emotion” I don’t mean making me feel something for her, I mean showing what she felt. It’s really hard to do that with alien CGI monster characters.
The power of storytelling dude. For all it's struggles Destiny managed to flip the emotional attachment towards a character in 1 simple cutscene! It's flawless
My favorite cutscene of all time will forever be the 3 astronauts, the first fireteam, landing on Mars and coming across the Traveler terraforming Mars. It starts to rain just as they first lay eyes on it. Its perfect
My top 2 have got to be the Last Stand of the Gunslinger and The Season of the Seraph finale cutscene. Will never forget the badass yet heartbreaking battle with Cayde. With the finale cutscene the whole time I was just shocked I didn’t know what to think, actually shed a couple of tears after Rasputin’s end. Magnificent cutscenes, Bungie definitely outdid themselves with them!
Rasputin’s end sucked. It was so forced. It also pissed me off because it meant the whole seasonal grind to control the warsats was a waste of time since Eramis still got them last minute.
It’s hard to sympathize for a character that has been useless for the game’s existence, who’s warsats are equally worthless, and who will be rezzed in future content.
I would argue that the Cayde-6 funeral is one of the best cutscenes as it’s the first time the player guardian breaks the vow of silence. I believe it outshines the last stand scene as it shows more depth to the player guardian character and shows the disagreeing viewpoints between the guardian and the vanguard, as well as between the vanguard themselves. It’s felt like the vanguard actually had genuine emotions for the first time rather than just being static NPCs with the occasional dialogue detailing a story chunk.
Zavala traileris probably my favorite. Seeing Saladin Forge,Shaxx and Zavala side by side during Six Fronts felt epic after reading so much about in D1.
Final cutscene from season of the seraph always be one of my favorite’s with Cayde’s final stand. Not only showing us that the end is near and how breathtaking every single shot is, but it also included the fireteam from the Live Action Destiny trailers! Bungie is not holding back AND IS GONNA KEEP THROWING MORE AWESOMENESS AT US! 🎉
@@AdrianRodriguez-zs1lo combat really hasnt changed much we just got more ability uptime in d1 everything did feel harder but we didnt have 1/10 of the abilities or builds we do now if bungie made subclasses like d1 or took out the current ones to add them combat would still feel the same 9 years ago or today
@@spiralkingxiii9496 Gotta disagree and agree with some points. I agree that mechanically we don't play very different from how we did in D1. They made the game play a lot more like D1 with the "go fast" and forsaken updates. I disagree with combat not feeling different. D1's different gameplay is in large part due to the enemy AI, slower projectiles, and a less accurate melee. D1 had more dynamic AI that would respond more frequently to player interaction. (Avoiding AoE grenades and respond to being aimed at). The enemies were also more reactable due to their slower projectiles and more innacurate melees. It meant that you could hop or duck captain melees and strafe more bullets. Of course, having less abilities and ability uptime contributes to the game's feel, but I think it was mostly caused by projectiles being faster and melees having godtier lockon now.

@@spiralkingxiii9496 No, the AI definitely got worse in D2. They'll barely react if anything. The most I've seen is a boss dodge shortly after getting shot at. Most of the ads don't even do that. In D1 they would use cover and avoid AoE nades where they could. In D2 they often just run through them. I don't know how you're ducking melees since the enemy melee tracking is absolutely nuts btw. Maybe it's a skill issue but I find myself not being able to dodge melee by doing a single non ability jump or by ducking in D2. I can avoid them while running or when I have some built up momentum at those ranges, but standing I can't. I can also avoid the attacks of enemy AI weapons, but they have definitely gotten a lot faster. I don't have any numbers but the projectile itself has gotten faster, making strafing less reliable. I wasn't discounting the effect power creep has had on the game. I think we have gotten too powerful and we are due for a nerf. However, I feel like the enemies we face changed in seemingly small, but impactful ways when we transitioned from D1 to D2. The combat was slower then, but not that slow and allowed for more reactive play.
When I watched for the first time the space battle cutscene in The Taken King (the dreadnought v. The Awoken) I was 13 or 14 years old…. And I was fucking crying when Mara Sov and the Prince Uldren die.
Uldren maybe died, but he was resurrected as a Guardian. Queen Mara returns in the upcoming Season of Defiance, starting on the same day as Lightfall's launch.
Goddamnit seeing the end cutscene of seraph got me so hyped for lightfall and look what we got. I really don’t understand how Bungie’s writing team can go from making one of the best and significant cutscenes in the franchise’s history and then give us lightfall the way it turned out.
My #1 is absolutely the Fundament cutscene. The music is just so chilling and if you know the lore, it’s the biggest reveal in the history of the franchise - bigger than Cayde’s death, or seeing the Witness.
My favourite one is us speaking to ourselves in the black garden. It's just so cool. Other amazing ones are red war opening, discovery of traveller, Cayde's death and backstory of Hive.
@Rikhard 9 it is if the Traveler wants, immediately after Savathun died it sent imaru to be her ghost so I assume if it wants a guardian can get any ghost

Kinda disappointed how gambit fell off especially bringing up the Dreds couldve really took that somewhere like bring back the Warlords like guardian bringing back the old ways because the darkness is here and then switching over to the witness team like that would’ve opened up for a whole new faction we’d have to worry about our own switching sides
Rasputin is basically Vision lol. A machine created by an evil machine to destroy the thing keeping humanity safe who ends up fighting against his creator and sacrificing himself for the good of humanity. Even the way that Ana has to kill him is reminiscent of Wanda and Vision in Infinity War. It was still done well, just funny how similar it is.
my best 5 would be cayde's last stand, the nine gift, opening scene for beyond light, the drifter's pyramid token scene and finally the scene before the last mission in the red war especially any part that included cayde
3 faves tho one of them isn't here. Last stand and the Season of Seraph finale cutscenes. Last Stand, obviously because Cayde went down fighting and wee get to see him a lot in action. The Finale cutscene of the Season of Seraph, what got my jaw dropping is the fact that The Traveller positioned itself away enough from the earth and the camera rotating up right revealing the promotional art of Destiny from 9 years ago. The promotional art was planned for 9 years until this moment. My eyes flashed back to 2014 when I saw the shot and my gosh, how we've been from just pure Light bearing guardians who can only wield two lights up to wielding all 3 Light and soon wielding all 3 Darkness.
The pre-lightfall cutscene was so awesome, and the way it was the OG destiny image really made lightfall feel like a big deal... a shame they couldn't follow through on it, we didn't even really get to see the pyramids arive despite it being set up since the red war. Why is it that they were able to do a grand-scale ship battle all the way back in the Taken King but not now? I feel like Lightfall really had a problem with scale, like that part in the downfall mission where ghost says "there's a whole army in here" and it's literally just two dozen legionaries, or when he says "look at all these ships" and there are four threshers. Then there's the battle for the Traveler where we see maybe half a dozen fighters. Just having a character say there's a lot isn't nearly as effective as actually showing us a lot of stuff. Anyone remember the Sunless Cell strike in D1? Where you see all thoseassive prison pillars, a character didn't need to say "imagine all the dangers Oryx keeps down here" because players were already imagining that just by seeing it, Bungie needs to trust their players again or at least not call direct attention to something that just isn't true.
While I love the seraph cutscene, I think Rasputins end was forced and boring. Like wow he came back after years and now he like humans?? It was just a quick ending that made me feel nothing. I have definite proof Cayde is a shit hunter, he didn't proc Firefly a SINGLE time during the entire cutscene, meaning he got NO precision kills. Maybe if Cayde tried to aim his gun, he would've gotten out of.. you know, dying?
Be honest, you made this compilation SPECIFICALLY as a low key gush about how good the Seraph finale cutscene was without saying a word, didn't you? (For legal reasons, this comment is intended in good humor, not to be an actual call out)
The cutscene when the vanguard debate going after Uldren and the guardian basically says fuck you and fuck your politics i’m going after that dude myself
The best cut scene has gotta be the speaker telling Ghaul to kill himself, but my personal favorite is probably the original one in D1 where the speaker explains things to you after you arrive In the tower

"Once in a city grander even than yours, we prospered."
My favorite cutscene when the witness told calus to sit his big ass down
Drifter casualy pull large blocker with one mote
Gotta love how ikoras hairline recedes with every cutscene
Have they explained the nine more in depth? I havent played in a long time
Cause is written like a marvel character of marvel characters weren’t annoying
I have definite proof Cayde is a shit hunter, he didn't proc Firefly a SINGLE time during the entire cutscene, meaning he got NO precision kills.
Maybe if Cayde tried to aim his gun, he would've gotten out of.. you know, dying?
That moment Elsie is a bakris main
Be honest, you made this compilation SPECIFICALLY as a low key gush about how good the Seraph finale cutscene was without saying a word, didn't you? (For legal reasons, this comment is intended in good humor, not to be an actual call out)
The cutscene when the vanguard debate going after Uldren and the guardian basically says fuck you and fuck your politics i’m going after that dude myself
Sadly they got rid of the last cutscene
The best cut scene has gotta be the speaker telling Ghaul to kill himself, but my personal favorite is probably the original one in D1 where the speaker explains things to you after you arrive In the tower
Uhm did anyone forget about the massive fucking space battle between oryx and mara
That was in destiny 1
Anyone else here after final shape?
Half these aren't even top 10 lol
12:40 Still this shot gives me chills, the classic D1 background
😮
6:15 "ahh thats bullshit, he isn't even aiming at it, fuck snipers bullet magnetism"
Man why? Forsaken had no business being such a banger of a dlc.
Ghaul: Death, explain.
The Speaker: imma end this mans career
The aurora sacrifice scene still gets to me. Miss ya, Big Red.
Imo savathuns first ressurection goes number 2, otherwise good list
This didn't Age well
If they bought back cayde 6 then I'd definitely buy the lightfall dlc
The voice acting in the Witch Queen cutscene is so unbelievable good.
What about Zavala's trailer for the release of Destiny 2?
That would be a trailer not a cutscene
Bro our guardian getting slapped into the ground is the funniest thing to me
Eido is just so cute.
Ana its time is so sad
they were all garbage
