I'm surprised they actually seem to have learnt from Lightfall and immediately try and set up stakes for the players. We're shown the last city during a peaceful day, then given a glimpse of the Final Shape as the witness tryes to enact it.
And honestly? It's remarkably effective! I'd do anything to protect that guitar-playing Eliksni with my life!

Lightfall was really a set up story to the beginning of the end, it is about losing, we lost the traveler, lost friends, but through it we find the strength to overcome.

The scary thing about the opening: The Witness, even for the briefest moment, succeeds in imposing its Final Shape on the Universe.
Literally the only reason the calcification to the universe is not because The Guardian did anything, it was because The Traveller manages to resist strong enough to disrupt the Witness.

Obviously Lance Reddick is sadly missed and irreplaceable as Zavala but when I heard Keith David's voice for the first time as Commander Zavala in this video I have to say he's done an amazing job and has brought his own tweak to the voice.
