The greatest female vocalist I’ve ever heard. Everything she did seemed effortless. In my world, nobody touches her. Sadly, drugs destroyed her. Pretty much everything until about 1997 was gold. The Bodyguard might be where she peaked.
I often hear other people talking about other singers sounding like Whitney - but THAT is impossible my friend - she was so iconic, just unbelievable - loved her so much. RIP Whitney 💔💔
Whitney was so beautiful, in body and spirit. YES, she had the voice of an angel. Watch "The Bodyguard" for both the singing and acting. It's a pretty good action thriller, too!
Stunningly beautiful voice with looks to match. "The Bodyguard" is a very good movie that showcased it all. Another gift to the world lost because of drugs. You should watch the amazing eulogy Kevin Coster gave at her funeral. He's a class act.
Whitney is hands down one of the greatest singers ever. Interesting note about this song- it was co-written by Linda Thompson, the last girlfriend to Elvis Presley. The song title had already been decided on- so Thompson pulled some of the lyrics directly from a diary she kept about conversations she had with Elvis. Just makes it pull even more on my heartstrings.
Nobody could tell a story through lyric and melody better than Whitney. This song in particular is a roller coater of storytelling and emotion. Whitney could do it all...pop...RnB...hip hop...jazz...gospel...gershwin...classical...blues. It truly sets her apart from others like Mariah and Celine. She was the GOAT.
3:06 Michael taps his chest. Moments later at 3:37 Whitney does the same 😂 Her career (in the UK anyway) kicked off big time with the power ballad "Saving All My Love For You", still one my favourites of hers 😊
@@michaelwduffy Ha ha, that's my ND brain for you, finding patterns where there really aren't any 😂 I've just been back to see your reaction to "I Will Always Love You", from the same movie, "The Bodyguard" and you're still surprised to see Kevin Costner 🤣 Time to move away from there, bud, get into some of her 80s stuff, like "Saving All My Love" 😎
Aesthetically so beautiful and her voice was unbelievable. Admired her so much but she got caught up in bad things. So tragic about her daughter as well. Love this song.
Such a stunningly beautiful voice! And yes, hardly any breathing breaks. Michael, you really need to also listen to I Want to Run to You from The Bodyguard. Please!!
Us 50yr old's we are not sharing her with any other generation. Go find your own!!!!!!!! Don't waste your time we already have the greatest voice GOD ever made.
Most of this video was from the movie: "The Bodyguard" with Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner. A very good movie: Whitney was a great actress as well. "So Emotional" live is a great song that shows what Whitney can do with her voice. RIP Whitney and Bobbi Kristina. xx
Clips are from the movie "The Bodyguard" , her music is so good, do more Whitney (earlier work is "I wanna dance with somebody" "How will i know" "One moment in time" Another lady with amazing voice is Mariah Carey
Dolly Parton wrote I will always love you and sang it. Its about a guy, I forget his name, who helped her in her career. He was a country star with a TV show she was on.
@@ericzeichert511 - it was Porter Waggoner. If memory serves correctly- he suggested she write something that could become a signature song since she was moving into an era of becoming a solo artist and leaving his show. The song just happened to be a ballad about him and how much he’d helped her.
The only current day performer who had the depth in her voice to cover this song well, in my opinion, is Jessie J. She performed this song in “The Singer” competition in China. The video is out there on You Tube.
hi michael, hope you're ok. this is my very favourite whitney song. she was so beautiful and so talented, we shouldn't have lost her when and how we did. if this doesn't give you goosebumps nothing will. i love her, she was incredible. love the reaction too. michael try total eclipse of the heart by bonnie tyler, another great female singer.
"The Bodyguard" was originally written for actor Steve McQueen & singer Diana Ross back in the 1970s. But it was put on the back burner because the movie execs didn't feel that America was ready for a bi-racial romantic thriller. Kevin Costner was the one who green-lit this in the early 1990s and he said the only person that could play the role of Rachel was Whitney Houston. In fact, Whitney was not even supposed to sing "I Will Always Love You" in the original script, it was supposed to be "What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted?" but Kevin was the one that suggested to Whitney she should sing it, not in the style that the original artist, Dolly Parton did it, but the way Linda Ronstadt sang it. If you want to hear a very young Whitney "rip" out your heart with a powerful ballad, go back to her debut album, "Whitney Houston" and listen to the song "All At Once."
For a different version of this song, or more precisely three versions, check out Angelina Jordans covers if this song. They ain't Whitney, but they are nonetheless very mpressive.
The way you said Kevin Costner let me know you've never seen The Bodyguard. A good movie but a fabulous soundtrack. I'm 37 and I watched it as a kid and you look my age so its kinda weird you don't know this at all. This song was not only on Black stations but even soft rock and pop stations. Yall age faster so maybe your younger than you look.
You should react to the live version. Her live performances are always better than the recorded one. This song is from The Bodyguard soundtrack which starred Whitney and Kevin Costner ua-cam.com/video/W4DeckL8YX0/v-deo.html
David Phelps does a wonderful job singing this song. You will be pleasantly surprised at how he sounds, I like hearing him sing this song. better than her.

Whitney was so beautiful, in body and spirit. YES, she had the voice of an angel. Watch "The Bodyguard" for both the singing and acting. It's a pretty good action thriller, too!
Exactly. Was she human? So beautiful with that gorgeous voice. Amazing.
Stunningly beautiful voice with looks to match. "The Bodyguard" is a very good movie that showcased it all. Another gift to the world lost because of drugs. You should watch the amazing eulogy Kevin Coster gave at her funeral. He's a class act.
Agree, especially on the eulogy. A class act indeed, and well deserved. Costner is an amazing storyteller and Whitney's eulogy was no exception.
All hail THE VOICE! Whitney! 👑👑👑👑
Whitney is hands down one of the greatest singers ever.

Very sad. Elvis and then Whitney, gone too soon.

One of her most beautiful songs. Her voice, so powerful.
🎶🎶🎶😍👍

Shes so Unmatchedd….💜
One of the greatest female vocalists ever!!!! The Bodyguard soundtrack is one of the best ever!! Loved her 80s music as well!!! Gone too soon!!!!!
Your description of her voice is exactly what I think of her voice: "like an angel coming down to Earth to sing to us".
Song from the movie The Bodyguard. Whitney's voice is just amazing, I put her up with the Celine Dion category.

You need to listen/see live versions. Also her medley of 3 songs.
She was gone too soon, Mayoman. A misstep in life.

It‘s already mentioned before but you have to listen to the 1993 billboard live version that kills the studio version.

Bobby brown was the worst thing Whitney came across in her life. Whitney voice is the greatest voice today...... Nobody is even a close 2nd.
Damn Dude, you never saw the movie Body Guard? SMH!!!
You’ll be happy to know, Trump was at her wedding 😂
This song put sutch a strain on her vocalcords that it ruined her voice for her later years, making singing impossible
