Who am I?
Expert singing teacher, specialising in teaching children and young adults in singing and musical theatre. She has worked with the likes of The Saturdays for MTV, on shows such as Just the Two of Us for the BBC and many more. Throughout her years of teaching she has judged in many competitions, judging Lucy Spraggan, George Samson, amongst others who have gone onto succeed in the business.
I am the founder of Vocaltutor, (founded 2003) the UK’s largest vocal and singing tuition network and now The New Foundry Studios which opened in 2013.
I have worked with BBCTV on Just the Two of Us, with many celebrities including Natasha Hamilton of Atomic Kitten, plus has worked for ITV on many children’s TV programmes including The Worst Witch, as their vocal coach.

Clinched I agree. Clive Davis “discovered” Whitney Houston when she was only 20 years old in 1983. She appeared on the Merv Griffin show that same year, that was one of her first public appearances. That was the performance that really launched her career.
Whitney really is the gold standard for female singers. She had a womanly yet powerful, rich voice with a head voice as clear as crystal. Those belts though... so dark and emotive.

Best live singer Of all time, by far. She has delivered untouchable live performances for 15 years (until 1995). ALWAYS singing live, And that’s why i respect her so much. Even when she wasn’t at her best, she sang live, showing profound respect for her audience. Amazing artist. RIP.

@10 out of 10 they do that to make the performance more interesting and enjoyable for them imagine singing the same song exactly the same way for years on end it would be incredibly boring for the performer.

I remember watching this when it originally aired. It literally BLEW me away. The way she incorporated an operatic approach to various portions of the song cemented WH as the voice that will never be replicated. Her capacity to orchestrate the musicality of this and many other live performances, indicates she is more than just the voice. She’s the music as well. I have always referenced back to this performance as a reminder as to what excellence really is. It still to this day knocks me off my feet. Thank God I came from Generation X. No one can ever top WH’s standard. Or the standards of music ranging from the mid to late 1970’s, all the way through the the 1990’s. This time was “The Age of the Epic”.

Georgina, you should consider at some stage to react to this one (link provided), live at the 1994 American Music Awards medley of "I Loves You, Porgy - And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going - I Have Nothing". The video only has 70,000 views and was uploaded 2 months ago but the original had millions of views and was taken down a few years ago upon the request of Whitney's people. Then it was re-uploaded again and again by multiple users using split screens to avoid UA-cam's detecting software that will automatically block the video but again all of those videos were taken down after a few months or so. And the original video had Whitney's husband (Bobby Brown) holding their daughter (a very young Bobbi Kristina) and nearly falling out from his seat during a climax of the performance.....but the many re-upload split screen versions had this scene CUT OUT. I don't know what is wrong with Whitney's estate but they really don't want this video to be viewed by the public. I am guessing this upload (also in split screens) will not last and will be taken down again. I call this performance the second coming of Jesus performance and yes in this instance Jesus is a WOMAN! It is that good and the audio quality is much better than the one in this reaction. I literally just suggested that too! The old upload was up for a long time as I had it on my playlist, so fingers crossed the new upload with 4 images will stay up. I have never in my life heard such a live performance. Her gift was out of this world. I will love her forever.

Whitney was probably the best vocalist known to human kind. Just raw musical talent that's something of the past now with autotune. No one compares to the soul she delivered. I'm so thankful I got to see her live on her last ever tour despite her vocal deterioration
