I’m always so happy to see people react to Whitney. She simply was one of the greatest to ever do it. I was fortunate to see her in concert in 88 and 92 and 94. She was gifted and took my breath away. I always get annoyed when people are compared to her when NO ONE has ever come close. Whitney’s perfection was in live singing. No one else has ever done what she does.
You are the luckiest person in the world! The first time I saw this concert, I thought that if I had been there, I would have fainted, and her voice would have brought me back to life, only for me to faint again. I don't think I would have survived seeing a live concert of Whitney!

Let me explain to you guys what you’re trying to explain about Whitney’s voice. Whitney’s voice is what you call anointed, meaning from God! There are many people that can sing, but there are very few that are anointed. What separates Whitney from everyone else, is her ability to tell a story. Not only does she tell a story, she’s also taking you on a journey. This is why she does this better than anyone else. “Lionel Ritchie once said on Larry King years ago, “singing is about story telling, and nobody can a story like Whitney Houston.”

Whitney Houston was a phenomenal powerhouse of a singer. What is really funny is that she is hitting such high notes and she is singing these songs at a lower register than what she recorded the songs in originally.
Whenever I watch her live performances, I'm always in awe of her talent. But as soon as it ends, it gives me a sense of sadness. How she gave it her all and poured her heart out, but in the end, she had demons she had to battle against and she's alone.

During this time, Whitney was at the height of her career. She had a blockbuster movie, a soundtrack that was on fire. To make it better, she was the happiest she had ever been-she had given birth to her daughter and her marriage was in a good place. The interpretation of And I Am Telling You is different from the original version that Jennifer Holiday sang-Whitney was telling us that although every single person is saying she should get rid of Bobby and find someone better, she’s not leaving him..she’s staying with him. She stood there for over 10 minutes and sang these 3 big songs like it was nothing. She’s the greatest vocalist of all time.

WOW! The use of freedom to describe a consummate professional working in their craft is PERFECTION! As a singer myself, that's what I strive for... whatever I hear and feel, I want to be able to execute it without thinking and in my mind that seems like the THE ultimate joy. And that is what comes across in Whitney. This was a joy for her. This was home. You NAILED that!
EDIT: This was definitely a "Stars aligned" moment. Of course, Whitney, Whitney, Whitney... but THE BAND... KILLING... Ricky Minor and this arrangement... CRAZY! (So crazy, that apparently Whitney told him "hell no" when he pitched it to her! Hahaha!)... The camera work... BEAUTIFULLY CAPTURED! The angles and timing were IMPECCABLE... the audience! They were on their feet for 8 minutes of this 10 minute performance! I put this down as her best ever single performance. You can learn EVERYTHING you need to know about Whitney as a singer in this video.

What a fantastic start to this top 5. This is one of my fav performances of all time
Nowadays there are people that can do this kind of free master singing, she was a pioneer and show the generations to become how this should be. Today we have technology to sound perfectly if you know how to do it. Back in time the musicians had to follow her and her follow them also.
I guess I Subscribed at the right time! 😆 - And if THIS is #5, I’d be curious to see where this is going, because for ME this is Top 3 of Whitney Live. I also like that you guys actually HEAR and acknowledge the instruments as well, because she had like a 10 piece band with everyone firing at 100% and stood at a mic with just her voice! To this day, IMO her, Patti Labelle, Prince and Beyoncé are the ONLY artists who can have a full band backing them and not get swallowed by it!
Was so blessed to grow up in her era's she had at least 20 years on top she changed the music industry everyone after her wanted to be her and she was so beautiful, no one could get enough of her that's why the tabloids stalked her!
