Agree. Investing in yourself to look good and well put together is more important than investing in a luxury car. There are plenty of people driving late model luxury vehicles but once they stepped out of their vehicles, they look like everyone else as most people can’t tell the difference if they have a Mercedes-Benz or a Toyota in the parking lot once they are inside the shopping mall, supermarket, restaurant, bank, hotel, office building, church, etc. I’ve noticed that people who drive luxury vehicles like to show off their car keys, if they have the right opportunities, when they are in public places away from their luxury vehicles. They are trying to use their car keys to do the talking instead of their clothes, hygiene, grooming, and etiquette.
Even at home when you wear your best set of loungewear and you have combed hair and maybe some lip balm, you feel beautiful and motivated to get more done 💕

I started really putting an effort into myself about 6 months ago and I can’t even tell you how good it feels! I don’t spend a ton of money, my skincare is simple and my makeup takes 3 minutes in the morning - but wow what a difference! I don’t just save it for when I leave the house - I dress and groom well every single morning now. It’s just become part of who I am. I do this for me not anyone else! Looking great even if I’m just home doing housework makes me feel great. Other people are treating me better, I’ve gained the confidence to start big new projects...it’s changed the way I see myself! Consistency is so key ladies! Don’t save this for other people, do it at home too. You’re worth the bit of time it takes I promise you.
I got rid of all my frumpy and unflattering clothes and got just a few new pieces on Poshmark. I really like my small but well put together wardrobe. I even tossed my ratty old sleep clothes and got some classic button down pyjama sets for sleep and lounging - what an upgrade!
I do my own nails, I’m growing out my natural hair colour. This doesn’t need to cost a fortune and you don’t need to go to a salon every week to be well groomed. Learn to do cultivate your beauty skills and be your own aesthetician at home! I do a beauty night twice a week where I do a hair mask, face mask, body scrub, shave my legs and see if my mani or pedi needs redoing. It’s really not all that high maintenance but it’s so worth it. You are worth feeling your best every day!

People treat you so much better when you take care of yourself, I went to miami a few years ago and reserved a table at the versace mansion, I asked for a table by the pool and they said ''no'' 😂, went back in summer 2019 with no reservation and they actually asked me if I wanted a table by the pool, I said yes so they told me to wait around 10/15 mins they'll hold a table for me. Mind you this was the exact same employee lolll

@@diana_prince_1 I was wearing braids the first time, jumpsuit & heels with no makeup if I remember correctly.The second time I had very long straight jet black hair, heels, a short dress, nails done & wearing makeup. My friend also looked amazing.

I have definitely experienced this. Literally the same people who disregarded you at one point will turn around and give you special treatment once you look polished/good.
People (both men and women) definitely treat me with more respect when I take my time to look good. I don't even wear makeup most times. Just a neat hairdo or nice turban with neutral colored outfits, wristwatch and simple jewelry makes people perceive me to be someone important. Don't get me wrong. Everyone is worthy of respect. But unfortunately the world is built in such a way that respect is subjective upon what people deem as deserving of it.

Quick story: after a bad breakup I traveled to another state to visit friends and get my mind off things. Always been ingrained to look good, and besides, travel is a privilege, not a right. I wore a turquoise pencil dress and a navy trench coat, nude heels. Mind you this is my traveling outfit. Destination? Palm Springs California. The desert. Paragliding event.
Guess who I met that very day, upon arriving to the desert from the airport? 😊We have been together ever since ❤ date with destiny indeed, and I wasn’t even looking! 🎉
I agree that people who are well-dressed and groomed get respected more. I make it a point to make myself presentable when I go out, even if I am just going to the grocery store or post office. I find that people treat me like royalty when I wear lovely clothes and make my hair, makeup, and hands neat, whether it is at a grocery store, an upscale restaurant, an expensive cruise, or a classical music concert. Besides, I never know whether I will run into a close friend, an old friend, a former teacher, or even someone I met 20 years ago and haven’t seen since then. People I had not seen for years are amazed at how I look now, even if they have the image of me as an awkward preteen from years ago seared in their memories (in other words, think of “The Ugly Duckling” 😅). She speaks real truth. I’m a strong believer in looking my best and raised two daughter (from a previous marriage) to see themselves the same way. You absolutely never know who you may meet and in the most unexpected places. My fiancé approached me after watching me in a casual business setting. I didn’t realize that he was watching nor that 11 years later we would still be together. However good grooming is essential, being well spoken, polite and polished as well. He had been looking for nearly 15 years and told me later that it was love at first sight. Added bonus he is tall, well educated and a very successful businessman.

How did I catch his eye? I was best dressed there, even if only for a moment (I changed into more appropriate attire later, but still, clean well fitting clothing in good fabrics with the correct color and cut for me. Hair brushed, minimal makeup, at least some sparkle of jewelry).

Ladies, this is the absolute truth. I was not feeling well (woman time) and was exhausted from traveling. I needed to go to the store and seriously contemplated going out sloppy.
I decided to put some effort in - not completely dolled up but put on a nice outfit, shoes, & styled my hair. I ran into an old classmate and lots of guys happened to be at the store. I was SO thankful I put some effort in!

His wife looking good/put together - not in her pjs, as he doesn't want to see a version of his mother. She said this doesn't mean for one to look so fancy, but good. 2.) Food ready in the table. 3.) The kids - but in their rooms, so that the man can share/talk about his day-to-day issues/business w/his wife calmly, w/her listening." Yes, definetly! Today I wore a beautiful outfit and I finally wore a pair of shoes with lower heels that i bought recently but didn’t wear until today (cause it was too cold outside). I wore those heels with a pair of very nice jeans who fitted very well my legs I had a Brigitte Bardot style cream coat and I had my hair in a Brigitte Bardot type of tail✨ I really felt good and almost everybody on the street was looking at me. Plus: I was in the mood for trying a new cake shop that opened on my street, it’s a fine dessert shop I always wanted to try since it opened on my street but never did and today I did. The lady from the shop was very nice to me (ofc, I imagine she is nice to everybody as it’s normal to be, but she even said to me before leaving the shop when I was already opening the door to exit, ‘enjoy it’ once again, allthough she told me to enjoy also when I payed and ‘have a nice evening’. A lot changes when you feel and look good and it’s only for the best✨😌

Ladies! This is so true, I was the living version of Andrea in The Devil Wears Prada and I decided to take care of myself. I was very attentive to details (because they are everything) in clothing, makeup, hair, nails, my voice projection etc A-N-D suddenly there was a 360 degrees change in how people treated me, how willing they were to help (because I was new in my job). I was amazed, and all it took was a change in appearance and attitude. It works ladies!!! (And if it doesn't, don't stay in that job, is not a healthy environmen )

I remember when people would dress their best to travel. I understand the TSA regulations of having to remove shoes and belts, not wear underwires, not use any metal hair ornaments, but we can choose tasteful fashion that does not violate airport security demands.

I’m obviously not going to go looking like a slob but I’m not going to wear my best clothes since they’re usually in my suitcase, and I’m not going to be sitting freezing or uncomfortable on the plane, or have to be fumbling about with trying to remove certain items to get through the scanner, or risk getting oil or rust or anything like that on them. And that’s not counting the sweat if I’m landing somewhere hot. I change when I get to the hotel, but dressing up for the airport is absurd

Yes I see a difference in how am treated when dressed in a more sophisticated or well put together way. When I just got married I went all out so I had that glow and after just coming back to work everyone called me pretty girl, kept complimenting me and staring at me..I felt like the most important person in the building that week. I went from the typical nerdy me to being called Pretty in such a short time.

About the example of the 2 women at work, I think the boss might think the woman who takes better care of her appearance is naturally showing her skills of being able to pay attention to detail & do a thorough & beautiful job, & of being respectful to herself & others. It shows her character.
Imagine sitting down in a restaurant...most would be more likely to eat from a dish that has been presented neatly and attractively on the plate rather than thrown around in a dirty platter.
We would enjoy our meal more and respect the work that has been put into preparing it.
There is a HUGE difference! I wish I could make leggings outside of the gym illegal, and I wish more places had somewhat of a dress code. I am so tired of people wearing sweats out in public. You don't even have to dress up really to stand out anymore. Just by fixing your hair, doing minimal makeup and wearing a couple pieces of jewelry with jeans and a regular shirt you will look nicer than 90% of the other people out there! I like to wear really nice clothes and yes I stand out, but I'd rather stand out for looking my best then looking like a slob. Dressing down makes me look really bad and I don't want people thinking bad things about me. I leave the house everyday looking very cute and I get handed free stuff all the time, and people are just really friendly. I love getting compliments on my outfits :)

Very true, I personally experience this. I'm a person very concerned about my dressing, make ups, hair done, nail done and accessories which looked expensive and branded. Most of the time people treated me so good.

Hi this really motivates me to do my hair every once in a while, cut, style, and dye it. Sometimes I get so overwhelmed in life and work and forget to look my best and feel guilty then I to do my hair and feel like am wasting time but actually no - I do not care if I’m single I’ll take care of my looks for me
this is unfortunately true. I feel it on my skin. I don't have expensive things, but I make an effort to look good and since then people just treat me a lot better and with a lot more care.

I was not raised to know these simple important things about life and I currently do not surround myself with ppl to guide me, I am 39 and have a successful career and I am just now learning the value of being intentional about my appearance. I am a stoic female and I don't stress about wearing fancy cloths or looking super nice and I am not insecure at all and is actually at peace. There are plenty of monks that have lots of love and they aren't shopping for cloths every year.

2. On 2 occasions, there is a lady who told me that: one day you are gonna win a medal for dressing good!
These are all beauty standards that we are trying to break. I agree with you that looking our best as in caring for our hygiene helps us feel better. Yes , a lot of psychological data backs that up regardless of gender. Also the quote you used towards the end was written by a man who is part of the patriarchal society. And looking our best is unique to each person and if the beauty standards are so unattainable how can the majority of women including myself who are not inherently wealthy who do not have the best features for the culture follow what you were saying?
Society standards are not always realistic, not everyone can be elegant but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be valued or respected, let's just try to walk in love see ourselves through the eyes of others and help those who don't have the confidence and knowledge we have

Everything you say is true, but I just don’t look that great , I wear clean clothes and makeup every day and do what I can with my hair. My husband loves me and finds me attractive but he’s the only one.

I definitely get treated better when I put effort into my looks. I went to check in at a hotel and forgot I looked like a homeless woman , the room I received was dirty , I went to the front desk and was treated horribly, told to stand to the side, I was ignored, I was like this nevers happens to me I atleast get a let me see what I can do. Look Matter but attitude and the way you carry yourself matters more.

I like looking presentable everyday . It definitely uplifts my mood . Whether I am at home or running a quick errand, my hair (earring my fave ponytail extension) & makeup (mascara & a red lip) and my outfit (somewhat matching is always 100% on fleek. ) Even since I’ve invested in watching these lady elegance videos , my family and friends think I’m too superficial or fake to dress up.
TBH, I don’t care what people think because if I learned anything at all, “YOU ARE THE PERSON YOU ATTRACT” so dressing up , to look and feel good is more of my “forte” so to speak , than to be vibe out this “lazy bum” look . You know what I mean? Even at my best “bum” look, I can pull off fabulous ( messy bun, mascara, lip gloss and eyeglasses 🤓, plus graphic tee, joggers and sneakers topped off with a blazer) but I would never step out of the house looking like a zombie .
I’ve also noticed that when I do make the effect to dress up, customer service raises up to friendlier , happier level of respect towards you.

It's so ironic. I have been working on myself and dressing nice for work DAILY. Well today, I only got 4 hrs of sleep the night before so I threw together an outfit that looks fine but it's not very feminine. I'm wearing tactical boots with nice pants but a shirt I don't feel pretty in. Tell me why TODAY is the day my coworker asks me to lunch! Haha! Lesson learned. Never again. I'm seriously considering leaving work to change before lunch 😄 and the sad part is I knew better cause I've seen this video already!

I have noticed that some people just don’t realize that they look bad. They think their look is fine and if you try to help them, they will get mad. It doesn’t matter how kind you address the topic.
I am definetely treated better on days where I made an effort. Maybe also because you walk with more confidence and self respect, and you are just happier.
I often struggle with my hair though. I have thin, wavy/curly hair, which means lots of frizz, low volume and it can't handle heat tools for more than a few times in a row. No matter how much I do all the 'right' things, it is just always frizzy. And I honestly think a lot of people look at me as 'unkempt' because of it - even if the rest looks well put together. It also affects confidence, to be honest.
But yes, the effort you make with your appearance definitely impacts how you are treated by others.
My mother would always say never” judge a book by its cover”.

Quick story: after a bad breakup I traveled to another state to visit friends and get my mind off things. Always been ingrained to look good, and besides, travel is a privilege, not a right. I wore a turquoise pencil dress and a navy trench coat, nude heels. Mind you this is my traveling outfit. Destination? Palm Springs California. The desert. Paragliding event.
Guess who I met that very day, upon arriving to the desert from the airport? 😊We have been together ever since ❤ date with destiny indeed, and I wasn’t even looking! 🎉
How did I catch his eye? I was best dressed there, even if only for a moment (I changed into more appropriate attire later, but still, clean well fitting clothing in good fabrics with the correct color and cut for me. Hair brushed, minimal makeup, at least some sparkle of jewelry).

Even if you don't want do it for yourself, you can do it for the benefit of the venues/locations you attend. For example, a small café/restaurant may be more attractive to potential future customers if the current customers are looking more presentable, thus maybe helping business. It's often fun to try to match the theme of the place as well 😅 Not to mention livening up a drab high street on your way there! Of course this is just a little theory 😄
It depends ! Sometimes when you are naturely beautiful and well dressed , polite, people and especially women make your life miserable because they are jealous, you don t have a better price because you look rich and the boss wants to go out with you. That s the whole truth!
