- Having spent a couple days on the road and out on the trails of Utah and Colorado, we now find ourselves in the middle of the Rim Rocker Trail heading East. We have put in a lot of miles, but still have over 100 dirt miles we need to put in for this leg and time is running short. Our goal, is to reach the end of the trail, find an awesome camping spot, keep all the vehicles running and everyone healthy for the remainder of this adventure.
Part 1 of this trip: • From the Desert to the...

I love how Marco stops what he’s doing to watch first-bite reactions..... he definitely loves cooking for his friends. He seems like one of those genuinely good human beings that are pretty rare.
I totally agree, lets get more of him in there!
Marco's expertise makes all of us 'mouth water' (or drool).
Marco needs a food network channel for outdoor cooking. Y’all are amazing.👍👊
Atleast we got few souls like you actually living life to the fullest!. Live young, Live free .. God speed guys!!
I love how much you showed Marcos cooking and how everyone was helping out for dinner one night feeling inspired!! You can feel the good energy through your videos. And I loved that you helped your buddy patch up his hand. Thank you for creating such great content and letting your viewers feel like they went with you!
Lucky for Marco that Brad is there. Brad is a corpsman, the perfect companion on trips like this.
You all seem like a group of humble, good guys. It's obvious that Marco is an awesome camp chef, but takes all compliments with humility and a love of serving you guys. Love your content TrailRecon
Brad, thank you so much for taking the time to make and edit these video's, they are inspiring. I want to check that trail out now myself.
And as an fyi, the Mojave Rd. is one of my favorites. Did that for the first time back in the 80's, and have done it several times since. I have also done the second segment of the "Heritage trail" which is awesume.
Happy Trails!
Bruce
People like Marco are like those Gems you should cherish and hold on to.
Hats off to Marco, thanks Brad for sharing.
Brad! To help out with your power issue, plug your fridge right into one of the 12v outlets on the goal zero! Going through the inverter adds a good chunk of power wasted to inefficiencies/heat!
The overlanding feast with Marco continues !! Thanks for sharing !!
This is why I love these videos the scenery can't be better and the food, let's just say it's pancakes tomorrow morning 😋 ☺
You couldn’t have said it more perfect
Y'all eat better camping than we do at home🤣🤣
the change of scenery alone was breath taking. The bear that scampered up the hill was so awesome!
I'm telling you. I saw a lot of home made and camp made dishes. Even Gordon Ramsay. But for me Marco's are the best of all time. Very humble and approachable guy. I love that guy.
Marco is definitely keeping that trailer, he wrapped his Jeep to match 👍
Loved every second of your trail. Love Marco and his original food and his kindness. Wish I could join you guys on a trail. All the best from Hank in the UK.
wouldn’t mind seeing the clean up.. yalls cookware looks spotless every time?!
0:56 amazing view.
It’s always great seeing your adventure videos and Marco’s cooking! (Hopefully his hand is good by now).
Brad- I can’t believe you whipped out a Julian Apple Pie!!! I grew up in San Diego and used to go up there a few times a year with my family... great memories of fresh pie and apple cider, camping and hiking. Thanks for another great video! Cheers.
Marco is the secret weapon in your team. I could overland for 365 days if I had him in my group.
Your a good man ‘I love his meals, and I love his passion for it” a good friend you are! Love the channel
There is this awesome 4 wheeler shop right out side the airport in Montrose that's does great work if you need repairs called Rockworx 4X4
.
Great trip! Lots of amazing scenery and I bet there were a few laughs! That’s what it’s all about!!
Glad to see The issue with Marco’s hand looked after
Looks like another grand adventure! Marco's jeep is looking great with the wrap and trailer set up. Keep on wheeling
New subscriber here from down under, looking forward to all this new found content.
Looks great so far, Magic scenery 👍🏼
Welcome aboard!
Beautiful country.
22:29 looks like an MRAP.
WOW! I know missing the Alaska trip was a bummer, but what a nice replacement adventure!!! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
I watched this after my work,..thanks for taking me there for free..
From one Brad to another, your videos are such an inspiration for my channel I'm starting. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for sharing the ups *and* downs! So often trail overviews/recaps don't include the tough stuff, which is better to expect than discover in the moment. We run a single-battery setup too and this makes me think about our rig's future.... Thanks!
I love these videos, I look forward to them it always makes for a great day when they post. Thanks for making them.
Great video Brad
Marco get well soon
Can't wait for next episode
What a great group of trails thank you so much for taking us along with you👍🏻🤠
You bet
HOPE MARCO'S HAND GETS BETTER ! SMILE ! BE SAFE ! HAVE FUN ! ENJOYED !
Thank you!
A great inspiration for those of us who enjoy trails for the scenic views and relaxation. I’m a stock JLR guy and I’ve been thousands of miles on trails for the beauty and just a little beast. This one is next on my list. It’s been on my list for a couple of years and you just moved it to the top. Thanks for showing that you don’t have to crush fenders and skid plates to have an amazing trip.
Epic as usual! You are living a dream that most of us will never get to do. Glad you take us with you along the way Brad!
So cool that you are so focused on Marco's hand. A little thing that could turn into a big issue. Really enjoy your videos!
Sceneries are unbelievably beautiful.
Nice trip, great filming and inspiring content. It will be nice to add some of what is going on in the camp.
Thanks for your efforts.
OMG! Julian Pie Company! Be still my heart!!!!!
Top notch production Brad. As always! Enjoyed this one!
Thanks for sharing such and epic adventure. I hope I can run the trails as you and your BUDDYs have in the near future, retirement is about 5 years and counting. I always feel like I am buddies already with you and Marco and we have never been introduced.
Keep that interesting, entertaining, epic footage coming.
You and Marco should put together a overland camp cookbook!!
jtwstheman Marco has one. It’s great!
Best overland UA-cam channel in existence. Top best quality. Keep them coming Brad!
Great Video, Marco's beard looks awsome, glad you having a great time
Awesome views, enjoy trailing..
Had to take a break from my essay to watch this, and boy am I glad I did. You rock Brad! Great video as always.
absolutely amazing love you and marko inspired me and my wife to start overlanding
Random MRAP, random bear and that awesome food and trails, thanks for sharing
The sceneries are spectacular, food shoots are yummy and the Jeeps have some great mods. Keep up with such videos 👍
Thanks for hilighting some local overland routes! Can’t wait to explore them! I’m new to overlanding, but not new to 4wheeling. It’s a great resource for trails that aren’t necessarily challenging, just enjoyable routes! If you ever need assistance in the 4corners reach out! Safe travels!
I'm from Florida and I'm retired military and I retired in Florida. I was stationed in New Mexico years ago and you guys make me miss New Mexico ! I'm a little different though I need to be near water so I would dive at Santa Rosa........the blue hole. It's beautiful
What a great trip you guys are having, it looks like so much fun. I hope Marcos hand heals up quickly, has he had a Tetanus shot lately,
I just noticed that your spare tire is located under the Jeep. I would strongly recommend that you install a skid plate covering it before you do any serious Rock climbing. I sliced the heck out of a spare tire on rocks and didn't realize it was unusable until I needed it...
This was a fantastic trip..... I sure wish I had a jeep to join all of you!! Your a fantastic group of people!!
But It sure is great seeing this video. I love going on adventures with all of you!!!!!! Definitely looking forward to our next excursion!!!!
Seeing those smooth loose gravel...makes me wanna slide, rallying again!! I wish I wish....those loose gravel is so awesome!!
What a Great Trip, did this trail 11 years ago so glad it hasnt been trashed, Brad taking a Julian Pie on the trip man that brings back memories, best Pie Ever. Thanks for making this video. You should get Marco on the E3 overland classes schedule.
definitely Marcos and his food cannot be missing on every trip! I love everything you guys do...
Cool to see the Army alost joining you guys on your trip. lol (22:27). Beautiful trip. Wish I was there. Hope Marco's hand healed.
Have no fear the doctors here! To get the wound to seal, simply remove the bandage and place the wound directly on the exhaust manifold or header. Be sure to get as close to the engine head as possible for best heat distribution. Should an infection occur, simply apply starting fluid or gasoline directly to the effected area, this will kill just about anything. This will obviously cause pain but it can be managed. Have the patient face due north, while having a friend directly behind them. Have the friend place a stiff kick directly to the scrotum and the patient will most certainly forget about the pain in the hand! For those who may doubt my medical prowess, keep in mind that my initials are in fact MD! Enjoy your trip 😁
Gotta say this channel has been a life changer for me since Covid started. I was a 100% sports fanatic B.C (Before Covid). I have since bought a Rubicon, Roof top tent and Canopy. Driving to Moab from Washington D.C next month with my daughter (senior in H.S) for an epic vacation. Cant thank you enough for the content. You guys are inspiring!
Nice.
Or as Brad might say: EPIC!
Maybe you will see him out on the trails one day.
Brad, I cannot wait to do this trail. I am so glad you did this because I had no idea that this trail even existed.
Awesome scenery, thanks for the videos. What caught my attention was the MRAP at around the 22:30, guessing just out for drill/training? Would definitely grab attention on the back trail.
Yup, I want to go for an adventure now! Thanks for the inspiration 🙏
Oh my goodness! I leave tomorrow for this exact trip! Only, I'm running it from the other direction. It is a trip that has been 3 months in the making for me.
Haha I like how you went from calling it mont-rose to the proper mon-trose after leaving! Just finished the trail a few days ago, amazing drive.
Brad, I grew up in San Diego. I left for Phoenix, AZ 7 years ago. Seeing that Julian Pie brought back great memories man. I need to get back up there. FYI, if you’re eating apple pie, then Mom’s Apple pie is the way, but if you’re eating apple pie with ice cream, the Julian Pie Co is the way because it’s more tart. Good video man.
Always love your show here in missouri!
/wave a fellow Missourian!
Thanks for another awesome 😎 video Brad.
🙌 amazing adventure!!! Keep the awesome content coming brother 👊
Just something an Australian watching noticed you lucky guys can lock your fuel pump on and don’t have to stand there holding it the whole time. In Australia only some high flow diesel pumps (truck pumps) have that feature. Standard fuel pumps don’t do it and we have to hold the trigger down the whole time haha
Love the videos. Thank you! Learning a lot too.
Marco needs to have a trail cooking channel. My wife and I both want his recipes and know his full setup for cooking.
ua-cam.com/users/OVRLNDX
Thank you!
Marco A Hernandez 😎 Found your channel and joined already. Now to order your cook book. 😎
@@lastpreatorian418 Awesome!!!!
love to see the videos, Brad. keep up the great work my GF and myself love it. Jeep wave your way!
Hello Mr Brad, I’ve been watching your videos for few years now even before I subscribe to your channel, thank you for all your very welcome info on how to off-road the safest way and showing me the many trails to travel to.
I have a 97/06 Tacoma’s, my 97 is my main off-road vehicle and I will like to know how you get sponsors for all those gadgets/equipment when you are on a tight budget, I would appreciate any info you may provide, I thank you again for taking me through all your travels where there’s no pavement.
your videos are getting so good!
I truly love all your adventures and how to videos.. Thank you for all what you do.
Thanks for watching!
Ordered my outback tailgate table, getting out there soon myself! :D
Watching y’all cook up that trail food is amazing. Hahaha!
Excellent video as always, love seeing your Corpsman skills be used. For your fridge, I was watching a review last week on compressor fridges, he had a C/O the 12v cig plug coming out while driving. He installed a hardwire Anderson Pole plug in the cargo bay for his Jackery-esk system to charge from. @ TrailRecon
Keep up the hard work Brad.
Jerry, US Army Medic.
Making the guy with the manual transmission and hand injury tow the trailer? Poor Marco! :-)
Jarad DeRosa LoL ! Having a blast buddy!
Great video Brad love them thank you for what you do.
Such great adventures out west. This Florida boy is a little jealous.
Great video Brad...
Great cast of characters.
I'm thinking that we need to insure Marco's hands.
Hopefully all is well with your hand Marco.
Safe travels..👏🙏🇺🇸👍
When Brad said Marco's hand was injured and swelling, I instantly thought of the end of Wesley and Inigo Montoya's sword fight in The Princess Bride. Where, after the classiest, friendliest and one of the most entertaining duels in cinema history, Inigo is disarmed, and asks Wesley to kill him quickly, Wesley said he would no sooner destroy a stained glass window, than kill an artist with a blade, like Inigo. Marco is an artist when it comes to camp cooking, so the very notion that his hand was injured and possibly infected and definitely swelling, was as offensive to me as killing Inigo was offensive to Wesley.
The man is a virtuoso, and like Inigo or a stained glass window, everything about him must be protected and preserved, so he can continue to impress the world, with his art.
On that note, if you are gonna have an injured hand out on the trail, Brad is probably one of the best people around to deal with it, as I think he said he made a career in the military as a corpsman or medic. So, he obviously knows what he is doing, when it comes to treating lacerations and trying to avoid infections.
Man...this caravan has a very eclectic, and admirable cast of characters on it.
Please tell Marco to make an overland cookbook already!!!
Yessi Bee Yessi! It has been available for almost a year now!
Hey Brad, just something about plugs coming out, I know you have used Anderson plugs as I’m sure the Patriot Trailer has one.
Have you given any thought to changing the plugs on the fridge and Goal Zero from cig plugs to Anderson plugs, a lot safer and reliable.
My opinion is changing your set up won’t really make any difference unless you put a dual battery in.
Cheers Dennis
This two parter was pretty awesome. I really like the looks of that trail, adding it to the "someday" list.
When I saw the first video before this, I thought why is it short. I was hungry for more. That question is now answered keep it up
Brad Great views indeed thanks for sharing and I hope Marco hand has recovered
Every single day after I get home from work, the first thing I do is see if there’s a new trail recon vid! Keep them coming!
Great stuff as always Brad👍
Loved this video! Lol biscuit rock 😃
Nice to meet you!
I also ride Langler JL in Japan. I was healed by Langler's magnificent sight.
Thank you for your continued support.
Marco! We need that ceviche recipe!
It's 2:00 am and that Chipotle sauce that Marco made it's on my mind 🤭 I'm hungry now
Great video and amazing views. The editing and commentary really make it feel like I'm there with you all! I can almost smell the food! I hope Marcos hand is still on the mend.
Thanks so much!
